Dirk invited Miranda over to their campus and took her out on a date. They didn't get a chance to see each other much ever since they started university and he didn't want her to think he forgot about her.
Except then he proceeded to play pool with the other students and the date fell more like a friendly outing than a genuine romantic time.
Only by the end of the date they remembered about each other and had some more private time together. That's when Dirk decided he would like to get engaged with Miranda at some point.

Hot Vintage TV Women's Bracket - List of the Ladies!
As promised below is a full list of all 130 women in the Hot Vintage TV Women's Tournament! Thank you to everyone who submitted their favs!
Just a brief bit of cleanup before the list. Thank you for all the submissions. If your submission didn't make it into the bracket or some of your propaganda isn't used know that I still appreciated the submission even if we weren't able to use it. Some things got cut for being outside the bounds of the tournament, some things got cut because the links were broken, etc. Anything I wasn't sure about got brought to family and friends for a second opinion. I did my best to keep as much in as possible but some things just ended up leaning too far outside of our criteria. If you notice some stuff that seems outside the criteria slip by it's because I tried to be very generous so as long as something wasn't obviously outside of our time period or rules I usually gave it a pass.
Anyway, I am working on the bracket as we speak and apologize in advance cause I don't think there's any way to make round 1 completely painless, as you'll see we have a pretty stacked line-up so I'm excited to see how things work out! Enjoy and see you all on Monday April 15th for round one of the Hot Vintage TV Women's Bracket!
“You know… I’ve always been jealous of her,” Miranda says.
Garrus pauses, his beer halfway to his mouth. “Of Shepard?”
She nods. “Yeah. Jealous of what she has, I guess you’d rather say.”
Feeling faintly stupid, Garrus asks, “A mother?”
“Her mother, to be precise, though I suppose I’m just jealous of her having a parent. One who cares so much.” Miranda lowers her chin to her arms crossed atop her knees, curling up with a pensive expression. “She genuinely loves her.”
He’s not entirely sure which way Miranda’s referring—Shepard to her mother, or her mother to Shepard? He supposes it doesn’t really matter, though. It’s a true statement no matter which way it’s looked at. “I think that’s usually how parents work, Miranda. Or how they’re supposed to work.”
“Mm. I suppose you’re right.”
In the sunset-gilded meadow, Shepard lays her head in her mother’s lap, who looks down at her for a long moment before stroking her hair, long and slow touches that have Shepard curling up slightly, the rail of her spine bowing.
“You were there at the funeral, were you not?” Miranda asks.
“Of course I was,” Garrus says, because how could he not back then, when he was already half in love with the firecracker of a Commander and would have followed her to the edge of the galaxy if she’d only just asked? The funeral was one of the most miserable days of his life, ranking among his crew getting massacred and the day he found out about his mother’s diagnosis.
Looking back on it now, Shepard’s mother had been there, though he hadn’t recognized it at the time. She’d just been a high-ranking Alliance officer in a place of honor who’d mutely shook her proud head when Hackett had offered the microphone, her fingers clenching around a dry, wrinkled handkerchief. She didn’t look too much like Shepard—taller and more willowy, with sharper cheekbones and black hair—except for the eyes, which have the same clever scrutiny and shape as Shepard’s own. Perhaps that should have given it away, but Garrus isn’t going to blame himself for not recognizing her, especially not when he fled as soon as remarks were completed.
Miranda hasn’t said anything else, yet, so Garrus asks, “What about the funeral?”
“She was there,” Miranda says.
“Of course she was.”
“She cares,” Miranda says, frowning. “I don’t think my father would have come to mine.”

[Update: Whoa... I found them all in just three Apricity chapters and the Prithvi draft! And some paragraphs had multiple! O.O]
“Now, follow my finger,” he requested. Beau complied, following the slender finger as it moved between his eyes, into his peripheral vision, and back in front. “Look directly into my eyes.” As the doctor leaned in, he finally made eye contact even if it was only to observe his pupils and test his corneal light reflexes. At this close distance, Beau felt the heat from earlier resurface as he stared right back into the depths of fathomless, dark gold irises.
[...]
There was that pull again. Only this time, his heart lurched painfully, knowing that the man was clearly hiding something. That chain was reeling him in, compelling Beau to take a few steps forward. Chastising himself for the ridiculous overreaction, Beau stopped, took a few breaths to calm himself, pushed his glasses up, and addressed the man standing before him.
[...]
Sounding more confident than he felt, Beau turned around and was about to walk away when he slipped and suddenly he was falling - something he was all too familiar with even when he was healthy. Right when he thought he’d hit the floor, powerful arms wrapped themselves around him and cool hands pushed him back against a hard, muscular chest.
-
[Azure] - Land, Creep, Brilliant, Edge
Despite the time that passed, there was little change in the general landscape. However, the low buzz of the glade slowly crescendoed and night finally beset the land. Bright moonlight overtook the haze, the fog from earlier mysteriously disappearing from sight.
[...]
At that moment, the world fell silent. The tree line crept into the meadow until all earth, life, and sky was once again overtaken by the dark azure hollow. Shivers ran up his spine and goosebumps tightened across his skin. Not even the rustling of leaves or the light breeze blowing through his hair registered until it gently urged him a few steps back. Despite his trepidation, he slowly turned to face whatever was behind him. Towards whatever had left the siblings with such terrified expressions.
One shadow. The man was alone this time, leaning casually against a tall tree in the distance. He appeared as he had in the clearing - brilliant blond hair, sharp dark gold eyes, silky ice-blue button-down partially undone, and black trousers - as he gazed at him.
Yet somehow, it felt different.
[...]
The azure light cast a cool tint onto already pale features, adding a sharp edge to what used to be warm gold eyes and blond hair, leaving behind harsh shadows across his face.
-
[Sangria] - Snort, Stifle, Repeat
“You’re exactly as he described you,” Mina said as she met Mike’s eyes.
“What?” Mike turned to Beau. “Hey, do you gossip about me during your little sauna sessions?”
“Obviously not, you idiot. Why would I even do that?” Beau retorted. “She’s clearly talking about Edward.”
“Huh? That makes even less sense! We barely even talk outside of AP Bio - what is there even to gossip about?”
“Don’t ask me, dude,” Beau shrugged before considering him more thoughtfully. “Hmm… though now that I think about it, he has mentioned you quite a few times.”
“Of course he has, dumbass. We’ve been bugging him this entire time about this mess of a mystery, and you’re the one who talks to him all the time outside of school.”
Beau snorted. “Obviously that's true, but he also mentions you when-”
A sudden burst of laughter interrupted them. The two boys turned to face the gold-eyed girl who was trying and failing to stifle her laughter and keep a straight face.
“Sorry, sorry,” she said after calming down… though that smile never left her face. “He’s right about Edward, but that’s a completely different issue.”
No? No it wasn’t? What the hell was going on this time?
[...]
Getting slapped repeatedly with increasing levels of mindfuckery after barely reconciling whatever previous mindfuckery the world had deemed fit to deal him with was most certainly not his idea of a good time.
-
[Prithvi] - Hill, Scar, Fruit, Glitter, Epic, Dream
Wells dotted the landscape, but there was also a major stream running through the center of the town. Beau’s own house sat a bit higher up, perched between the side of a hill and the top of a tree root and had deep green vines coiled around the house. The sunlight filtered in through the gaps and thin layers of the warm yellow-green canopy and lovely dots of reds, purples, oranges, and whites popped out throughout the landscape. Warm lanterns dotted the houses, buildings, and paths below him.
[...]
A warmth accompanied the whispers as they hit his form, covering him like a cozy blanket on a cold winter day. The scent of freshly baked bread melted together with the fragrance of freshly roasted coffee with a trace of spice within it all. The undercurrent of chocolate and fruits and the overtone of sweet but mellowed sugar combined with all of that to fill the air with pleasant aroma that should have put Beau at ease.
[...]
Surprised, Beau turned to the person sitting in front of him. Short brunette hair, warm eyes lined boldly, light scars on her neck. She looked at him with a strange sort of fascination - the first person to meet his eyes ever since he first stepped foot into the village. She also felt a bit out of place - though not as much as he was. Still, she might give him the answer he was seeking. Did she know where-
[...]
Mirroring the color scheme all throughout the shrine, the jewelry contained intricate diamond-shaped patterns and pendants, along with glittering gems and bold-toned minerals in varying shades of blue, green, and indigo. The remaining boxes produced similar pieces and they were beautiful… but he was a stranger and whatever was going to happen clearly wasn’t a traditional wedding.
[...]
No way. That couldn’t be real… could it? Surely that was just a silly little trope relegated to the darker corners of the Internet. But tropes… was it really just a trope? Didn’t that sort of thing have its origins in history? Or at least in myths, epics, or legends?
[...]
Beau lifted his hands and looked down at them for a moment, aimed his right pointer finger at the center of his left palm and brought them together, slowly and deliberately.
…it went through.
Then… this was the same as that night in the forest.
A dream.
I decided to grow up every single teen that I had to YA. That is, every single teen except the Newsons, because they can't leave the children alone. But I will not abandon them! I will just wait until the children grow up to teen as well.
I've randomized the names and distributed them in two houses. In the end, 2 houses with 10 YAs each.
Here are the houses:
Ripp, Dustin, Romeo, Tank, Juliette, Viola Monty (yes!), Puck, Lilith, Hal and Beau.
Johnny, Hermia, Miranda, Dirk, Tybalt, Mercutio (ok, i cheated here. i couldn't leave in a house i wich tybalt and mercutio do not live together.), Angela, Ophelia, Lucy Burb and Meadow.
ACR + University equals chaos... here are the results.
WHAT. I MEAN. EXCUSE ME??????????????????????????????????/
Beau invested in Juliette... ok, i guess? But it's weird since she looks a lot like Angela. Dustin will be pissed off saying that his brother wants to be like him at all costs. (Beau is dressed like a metalhead because 1. his OTH is music/dance 2. as a teen, his athletic wear was just like that. and i dig it. i now crown beau broke as a metalhead)
hal got rejected by lilith
poor guy
it's funny since when he was a teenager, lilith was kind of attracted to him, and often rolled wants of sneaking out with him.
later, he finally got his first kiss with viola.
HUH?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I SWEAR IT'S ALL RANDOM
but...things are a little boring, no? everyone is so straight! that's ACR's and my fault as well, of course. ACR per default don't randomize many lgbtq+ sims, and i was a little bit lazy in not changing myself their orientations. that is now corrected. viola, juliette and lilith are now bi! (why is juliette bi? because i want her to be with viola. i'm the watcher, i can do whatever i want)
hermia will be a lesbian (source? it was revealed to me in a dream). i'm still thinking on what will be the boys orientations, since i cant really rely on the randomizer...
phew! and i didn't even choose their majors yet! this will be fun!

Life After Life by Kate Atkinson
What if you could live again and again, until you got it right?
On a cold and snowy night in 1910, Ursula Todd is born to an English banker and his wife. She dies before she can draw her first breath. On that same cold and snowy night, Ursula Todd is born, lets out a lusty wail, and embarks upon a life that will be, to say the least, unusual. For as she grows, she also dies, repeatedly, in a variety of ways, while the young century marches on towards its second cataclysmic world war.
Does Ursula's apparently infinite number of lives give her the power to save the world from its inevitable destiny? And if she can - will she?
This is the first volume in the "Todd Family" series.
The Orchardist by Amanda Coplin
You belong to the earth, and the earth is hard.
At the turn of the twentieth century, in a rural stretch of the Pacific Northwest in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, a solitary orchardist named Talmadge carefully tends the grove of fruit trees he has cultivated for nearly half a century. A gentle, solitary man, he finds solace and purpose in the sweetness of the apples, apricots, and plums he grows, and in the quiet, beating heart of the land--the valley of yellow grass bordering a deep canyon that has been his home since he was nine years old. Everything he is and has known is tied to this patch of earth. It is where his widowed mother is buried, taken by illness when he was just thirteen, and where his only companion, his beloved teenaged sister Elsbeth, mysteriously disappeared. It is where the horse wranglers--native men, mostly Nez Perce--pass through each spring with their wild herds, setting up camp in the flowering meadows between the trees.
One day, while in town to sell his fruit at the market, two girls, barefoot and dirty, steal some apples. Later, they appear on his homestead, cautious yet curious about the man who gave them no chase. Feral, scared, and very pregnant, Jane and her sister Della take up on Talmadage's land and indulge in his deep reservoir of compassion. Yet just as the girls begin to trust him, brutal men with guns arrive in the orchard, and the shattering tragedy that follows sets Talmadge on an irrevocable course not only to save and protect them, putting himself between the girls and the world, but to reconcile the ghosts of his own troubled past.
The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller
It is a perfect July morning, and Elle, a fifty-year-old happily married mother of three, awakens at "The Paper Palace"—the family summer place which she has visited every summer of her life. But this morning is different: last night Elle and her oldest friend Jonas crept out the back door into the darkness and had sex with each other for the first time, all while their spouses chatted away inside.
Now, over the next twenty-four hours, Elle will have to decide between the life she has made with her genuinely beloved husband, Peter, and the life she always imagined she would have had with her childhood love, Jonas, if a tragic event hadn't forever changed the course of their lives.
The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey
Alaska, 1920: a brutal place to homestead, and especially tough for recent arrivals Jack and Mabel. Childless, they are drifting apart--he breaking under the weight of the work of the farm; she crumbling from loneliness and despair. In a moment of levity during the season's first snowfall, they build a child out of snow. The next morning the snow child is gone--but they glimpse a young, blonde-haired girl running through the trees. This little girl, who calls herself Faina, seems to be a child of the woods. She hunts with a red fox at her side, skims lightly across the snow, and somehow survives alone in the Alaskan wilderness. As Jack and Mabel struggle to understand this child who could have stepped from the pages of a fairy tale, they come to love her as their own daughter. But in this beautiful, violent place things are rarely as they appear, and what they eventually learn about Faina will transform all of them.
