Let me tell you I love the implication that Lan is like… a free-range Warder?
Bc we see young baby warders training in the white tower (or at least that one guy who talked to Nynaeve), which to me says there’s probably a warder selection and training process just like there is for aes sedai. I mean I don’t see the aes sedai system leaving that up to chance for the most part. They want the best of the best so there’s gonna be hoops to jump through for these dudes.
And then there’s Lady Moiraine Damodred Sedai out here and she just happens to stumble across Lan an-actual-king-trained-super-warrior Mandragoran, and she goes yeah I’ll have that one. And forever after every other aes sedai and their warder(s) are just like, ??? So confused about them and rightfully so.
In conclusion they’re so weird I love them so much.

About Lan apologizing to Moiraine after Everything:
"I'm sorry it took me so long to do my duty."
I don't think this is Lan - or the show - saying that Lan was the one in the wrong, after how Moiraine treated him so badly.
I think it's very clear from the show (and as other ppl's metas have pointed out) that Lan and Moiraine both know EXACTLY what she is doing: she's trying to push Lan away because she is in pain
(Ofc, Lan might well not know that this is also her trying to keep him safe, but he also might.)
Instead, I think it was him…making a point of reclaiming his role as her warder, so to speak. It was him saying "I know you tried to break what is between us, but I will not let you."
It was him saying, "I wish I had figured out how to help you sooner."
It was him saying, "The time for conflict between us is past, because the Dragon Reborn is here, and it is time for both of us to do our duty."
It was him saying, "I am your warder, and I am done failing to protect you."
It was him saying, "I am in this fight alongside you, and you are not going to leave me behind again."
It was him saying, "I don't care what happened to us, these past months. My place is besides yours."

Also a small thing I noticed is that all through the first season whenever Moiraine mounts her horse Lan automatically comes to her to use his hands as a mounting block for her, then also while she’s in the air quickly grabs her cloak to fan it out behind her- maids of honor should be required to take lessons from this man he’s so quick to ensure Moiraine has a good drape on her train
and there’s something that’s just so tender and caring and weirdly regal about it, he’s just so quick to attend to her and make sure she’s comfortable and looks like a boss
and then after she leaves him with Alanna is the first time where she goes to mount her horse by herself while Lan just stands there gobsmacked
but also I like to believe maybe just a little like “See Moiraine, you need me! ENJOY SPENDING THE REST OF YOUR LIFE HAVING TO DO THREE WARM UP BOUNCES EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU WANT TO MOUNT YOUR HORSE, LIKE SOME KIND OF SHORT IDIOT”
