We don’t hear enough about sledge! What are they like?

Awwwwwww this is so sweet that you asked!!! I know I’ve been gushing a lot about my dearest Bats because that partnership is new but Sledge is…….. unlike anyone else I’ve ever known. Literally my soulmate in every possible sense.

Sledge and I have known and loved each other since we were 10 in 6th grade. Neither one of us can remember meeting though… We can remember meeting our other middle school friends, but not each other. We think this is because our mothers worked together when they were pregnant with us and we actually met for the first time in the womb, rolling our eyes at the two of them being petty to one another.

She is iridescent pastel rainbow and neon early 00’s internet aesthetic mashed up in a person. She’s so vibrant and alive. Her laugh is so infectious and distinct and I also truly think she is the funniest person alive.

Having been in each other’s lives for 22 years, we’ve seen each other through soooo much. We have a context to each other I like actually can’t explain. I know the hurts and scrapes and pains of her childhood cause I was there in real time and vise versa.

I always say we have this like… storybook story. Like I said, our mothers worked together while pregnant with us. They didn’t like each other, but they did work together. We went to middle school together and happened to meet independently from our mothers. We became best friends and stayed that way forever.

The first time either one of us proposed was in the band hall before school one day in high school. I had what by my memory was a ring made from a paper clip, by her memory it was one of those plastic rings from the top of a cupcake. But I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. It was a joke then, but she was in my phone as "Wifey" for years. Next time a ring was exchanged and the question was popped, it was her asking me for real in 2018. And then when our wedding plans were cancelled due to covid, I asked her again in 2020 and exchanged a ring. We've gone back and forth!

But yeah, she's my storybook. And she really is just the greatest thing the world has ever made. The shiniest brightest gay little void that could ever exist and I'm forever in love, forever taken, forever so honored and proud to be with her every single day of our lives.
