Pokemon Moon Namelocke Episode 8: I Hate Hariyama

Time to continue the adventure by talking to some classy peeps at the classy Hano Resort hotel, but first let’s take a walk over to the beach resort to start the episode off with an encounter.
Get it...... U is Star instead of a Star is Born? Yeah well......poor thing isn’t really a star cause that is a horrible nature for Staryu, but might not be a horrible nature for some of thing things in this box.
The closest thing in level I could exchange it for is:
It does indeed look Delectable, and I know Adamant is a good nature for Bounsweet, but I’m a bit OVERGROWN with grass types at the moment. Ha I am hilarious.
Anyway on with the plot.
I just want to say that I knew this man was trouble when he walked in. Like really being a prissy pretty boy with the name Faba? Are you a Dragonball Z movie minion?
Time to get in this strange man’s boat and go to an artificial island where a Mewtwo is totally not waiting to clone all my Pokemon before killing off the human race.
I should consider this sad and dark, but that’s what you get for being an irrelevant gen 2 Pokemon that is stuck in the PU tier. I do like it’s shiny though.
Can’t get too caught up on sight seeing however, as I got to channel my inner Spongebob and go Jelly Fishing!
Spoiler Alert I love this Pokemon’s design, but was super disappointed when I found out it’s typing and it kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Wasn’t really a threat to Misgender and Kyuubi combo.
Yes an Illumise is still here and being a pretty good tank that will thunder wave you while setting up a wish for the next pokemon to switch in. I know healing moves aren’t ideal for a Nuzelocke cause you can do better using a potion instead of wasting a turn to heal, but wish is pretty handy when you have to switch in and take a hit.
Off to Malie I go, where a battle between me and my friend Hiau awaits me.
Ahhhhh how cute not only is your starter weak to my starter (both the game given and what I consider my real starter) but so is your eeveeloution. Wow I really am the rival of this game.
I am excited to be in Malie, because there is one thing I know I can do in this town that I’ve been wanting to do for the last two episodes now, but I got to go to the garden and talk to the professor, and I might as well get an encounter capture to.
Just what I need in this game..... yet another Meowth. Oh well Fancy Feast time to visit the Bashful box again where we are one still one level too low to get that lv 26 Diggersby in a Masterball so it’s time to RNG again since I don’t want Agumon the Archen at the moment.
(Note: about two more boxes of Pokemon were added to the game between last episode and this one because these boxes still need love though the Calm box is almost full)
Once again I am crossing my fingers because I really want that Noibat, and the number I get is 8 meaning:
Nany the Rockruff..... not going to complain because I was hoping I would eventually get a Rockruff sometime in this game. Would probably be a good replacement for DOGE since a normal type with a weak electric attack really isn’t helping me that much, but me and DOGE have an established relationship so Nany is just going to have to be on stand by.
After doing this and chatting up the professor I went to clear some of the trainers out at the garden and it was time to get hype.
My starter evolved into it’s true form. Now that Capricorn is a man full grown I was hoping the astrological talk would be toned down, but now he is more into it than ever. Told me his evolution was because his horoscope said he’d undergo a huge change today. Silly fool doesn’t know it’s because he is to evolve at a certain level.
Now that the garden is cleared out I can do that very important thing I’ve been wanting to do in this town. Capricorn isn’t the only one undergoing a huge change this day.
DOGE got a make over and is now stylin. It just needs a monocole and a cane to be a proper gentlemen now. I’m now feeling super ready for whatever comes my way. Though I should be reading to route 10 I want to go above and below the city for some captures and fight Janitors and all the other trainers wanting a piece of me. My team is perfect nothing can go wrong!
Kyuubi are you okay? Is this real? Kyuubi the one who had great egg moves great promise and put a lot of work into getting me this far has fallen? I can’t-

HARIYAMA YOU THICK FAT TRUCK HITTING LITTLE HOE I AM SO OVER YOU. STOP HURTING MY POKEMON! Not only does this fat fingered fat shit always hit me like a truck but it got a Belly Drum in.... meaning half of it’s HP was gone. I got greedy and went for the extrasensory thinking that would take it out, but of course it survived with like 1 HP and then killed poor Kyuubi in one shot.
Kyuubi please forgive me......... you deserved better than me as trainer :’( I hate myself even more cause I’m use to the old school way of dealing with Vulpix where you wait til it learns flamethrower before popping a fire stone. In my sun version I evolved a lv. 1 Vulpix with a fire stone and it learned flamethrower through evolution. Maybe if I’d evolved it and gave it more love it could possibly still be alive :(((((
Time to do some exchanges and then my party might have to be rebuilt a little cause this is a huge loss.
We got Adulthood the lonely Trubbish caught above the City where the Janitors and pose guy hang out. There were two possible exchanges I had to RNG for and none I was excited about.
I got a 1 meaning I’m stuck with a Salandit that will never evolve. At least the Magikarp could have served as a water replacement if something befalls Bean..... oh Nintendo I really love your gimmick evolutions...... it’s so fun having a pokemon that can never reach it’s full potential in a world where no one ever wants to have a Little Cup battle :(
There is also the brave Quantum Beak that was captured on the lower route where poor Kyuubi is now buried. Brave nature and the closest thing I can get to it’s level is:
A Fyrdoge..... another Growlithe to add to the roster, which is goo cause I need a fire type replaced though Floofmeister the Growlithe I got earlier might be a better solution since it has the egg move Close Combat, but I don’t know how I have some serious thinking to do with my options.
I decided to go with FILIS the Fletchling, which I knew I had to level up to 30 before continuing on my journey. It became a Fletchinder.... and I am still unsure if I made the right decision. Had I gone with Litten I could double up on fire and dark and replace Kitten with something else, and there is an electric trial coming up on me.
I decided on FILIS, because jolly nature on a Talonflame is nothing to sneeze at where Litten’s nature wasn’t anything to brag about. I have Growlithe’s but I think it’s best to go with as many dual types as I can even though this fire type won’t help me much against Ice Types.
Also I never really have used Talonflame in game before.... always dismissing Fletchling during my play through of X not knowing the hero it would become so this is a chance to use one. Fly is pretty powerful in gen 7, got steel wing to use against fairies, and flame charge will have to do since it’s special attack is horrible. It doesn’t have Galewings, but Flame Body will serve my purposes just fine.
Kitten hasn’t had much time out to play, but it gives a powerful fake out and bite attack so I’m not ready to part with it.
On to Route 11 to catch a bus..... I would have quietly waited with the Team Skull members as we got on the bus, but they keep wanting to fight me. Why you are all adorable.

Spotty the Ledian. Too bad Ledian is horrible, because I really do like it’s design. It is just missing a scarf to pull the look together.
I took the bus, but went back down the mountain for another encounter and to clear out some trainers when FILIS reached it’s potential.
Oh boy an OU try hard on the time. Too bad I am super nervous for the next trial..... obviously Talonflame won’t be showing up because it’s electricity, but it’s not even the electricity that’s the problem. The problem is all the Pokemon I’ll be facing are also bug types, meaning Capricorn can’t really help neither can Kitten. I do have a Rockruff that would put some resistance in, but it’s not night time in my game so I can’t evolve it.
Perhaps my mountain capture can help me with this issue.
Another Fearow with an on point nickname and a good nature for it. Back to the Adamant box where the closest thing in level is that Staryu I just caught at the beginning of the episode. I really don’t thing an adamant Staryu is going to be really helpful so I will RNG for what Pokemon I will be adding to the squad.
This is still the one I am really hoping for, and not because it’s a shiny but because it’s a rock type and I don’t have a dragon in my reserves at all. It would be a great addition to the team..... but sadly I didn’t get it. Instead I got:
Scissor the Scyther.... who isn’t a bad draw. It’s the right nature and has egg moves. I don’t have a use for him now, but he is high on the list. Especially if I can find a metal coat to evolve him.
On to the trial so I can get this possible team wipe over with cause we just aren’t equipped to deal with electric bug types. The steel Pokmon using lanky guy wasn’t really much of a problem...... though Skarmory is pretty bulky and resisted FILIS’ flamecharges pretty well. With him out of the way it’s time to YOLO.
During the trial I tried to use Misgender for some set ups..... really wished I had taught him or her or whatever reflect since the electric types are physical so I couldn’t count on Struggle Bug to lower their electric attacks. I almost lost this little bug..... and honestly would have been fine using it for death fodder because should an Illumise be surviving this long in a Nuzelocke?
There was really only one option to deal with VIkavolt and that was DOGE, because DOGE might not have the strongest special or regular attack, but it takes hits pretty well. I even used an X defense cause why not as this little guy fought through the paralysis to get a work up in before spamming a Silk Scarf assisted Headbutt.
DOGE CAME THROUGH! It took a little while with a few heals, but it’s Headbutt attack did the job. DOGE earned a Rainbow Bean for that display. ALSO NOBODY DIED!!!!! Everything is fine when there isn’t a Hariyama on the field. Kyuubi would be proud of DOGE for finishing this fight in style.

man ancestral call really makes namelock + single target skills in PoE play a lot better
like the big issue prior to that was that they had no AoE and being an ARPG, path of exile is primarily about killing huge amounts of dudes as fast as possible so that’s not great
there were support gems but stuff like melee splash still was pretty puny compared to even the smallest AoE just because you had to run up to it, but now that something’s summoning clones of your dude to do the skill in multiple locations that AoE can get pretty respectable
still other issues (earthquake still does more single target damage then most single target skills for instance) but it’s a huge step up for stuff like glacial hammer

I am in the mood to begin this episode with a good ol’ fashioned scuffle ! Though this guy better not have Hariyama..... I don’t even know if poor FIlIS could handle a hit from a Hariyama...... yes I’m still bitter about losing Kyuubi.
Nah he had an Absol..... not much of a scuffle since Kitten basically ended it with a fake out and a U-turn.
Speaking of scuffles I hear there is trouble at ye ol Malie Garden, so that’s where I’ll be heading next.
Kukui please.... in a battle where you only use 4 moves don’t tell them what moves you’ll be using..... and don’t lie you’re just going to send out Rockruff and spam protect.
Oh my it’s ya boy Guzma..... I am so hype for this upcoming battle. Slay me Guzma slay me. I like Guzma for the same reason I like Gladdion. I like Gladdion’s hoodie.... I like Guzma’s sweat pants. So comfortable looking.
To get real for a second, whoever, during this conversation I was doing some thinking about Kukui and he might actually be my favorite Pokemon professor ever. I mean sure he isn’t in his lab doing research he is out on this adventure and pursuing a career in the Royal Rumble, but he is a professor that specializes in Pokemon moves so it makes sense he is out and about trying to get a Pokemon League going and getting involved with some battles.
He is doing research without hiding in a lab expecting a ten-year-old to fill out a Pokedex.
Professor Sycamore was a Mega Evolution expert, but wasn’t spamming mega evolve as much as me. Really what did he even do other than act rapey towards my female OC? Kukai is in there doing stuff.
I’ve been worried about this fight for a while because Guzma’s Golispod is no push over...... but then the idiot went ahead and used swords dance twice on a pokemon with emergency exit. Okay....
I got some bug weaknesses on my team still so I sent out DOGE who took care of this battle with nothing more than a work up and head butt. (I need to find that Return TM) I made sure to award DOGE with a rainbow bean again for his efforts.
After the battle Kukui gave me a Decidum Z..... too bad Mr. Owl has been on Hiatus for a long time. Doesn’t he know this a Nuzelocke.... where is my Gogoatium Z?
In honor of DOGE’s triumph I gave him another hair cut to rock out this episode.
Now it’s off to Route 12 to go on the search for some more plot and an encounter. On Route 12 I caught Lefty the Mudbray.
I named it after one of many the Beanie Babies I use to have. The democrat donkey Beanie Baby. Oh man.... it doesn’t look like anything really great is happening in the hasty box.... cept for maybe a Lucario.
Wound up with Ducky Momo the Psyduck. Have no idea what this name means, but at least it has a few moves and I’ve given up on the idea of bumpounder ever being a Vaporeon replacement so I can’t complain.
Went back to route 12 to clear it out some trainers. Kitten is almost level 40 and that’s just from doing it’s current job of using fake out and then U-turning it out of there. I’ll probably be using this strategy on that pesky Ghost Trial whenever I get to that point.
Apparently Cosmog is in danger.... I mean good. Is living in Lilly’s bag really what you would call a life? It could use a little danger to switch things up a bit.
Got a few more encounters to exchange. I had to catch a couple of Karps with repeat and quick balls.... is this what it feels like to be one of the human dumpster fires that throws that crap into Wonder Trade?
From the Secluded Shore we have Catfish the Magikarp with an Impish nature. It was exchanged for...
Not Bun the Pikachu..... more like Not Fun.... Impish is a horrible nature for a Pikachu and this coming from someone that rocks an adamant Raichu.
From Route 13 we got Fillet the Magikarp with a Naughty Nature.... a box I’ve been visiting a lot.
There is a tie between Fuc* me the Crabrawler and Cotton the Cottonee.
RNG tells me Cotton, and that’s fine because I don’t like how that Crabrawler is looking at me even though I’m literally drowning in grass types right now.
Seems like we are going back to the ‘Naughty’ Box with Walda the Raticate I caught in Tapu Village.
The exchange is....
oooooooooo Pegasus the Ponyta.... I don’t think I’ve actually used a Ponyta since gen 1 so it’d be interesting if I get to use it this locke.
Now back to the plot!
I will once again be a Team Skull apologist and believe this grunt is doing nothing wrong at the moment. If you see something say something. That’s all he is doing to keep the community safe.
With that out of the way time for the big episode scuffle as I go through the abandoned grocery store to take on a big Mimikyu. Glad this is my second time playing this game. First time that Mimikyu almost gave me a heart attack when I found it with the pokefinder.
Time for some champion strats. Fake out won’t work so let’s just u-turn it out of there to break it’s disguise!
Good thing Kitten likes me and U-turn got it right out! Mimikyu outspeeds me and play rough hurt really bad. I am going to have to switch into something that can take a hit. Mis Gender knows T-wave so I just need to slow it down.
Haunter got called in for the assist.... Mis Gender can take a play rough but not two attacks from two different Pokemon... and this strategy was in vain, because apparently Mimikyu is holding on to a lum berry so it recovered from paralysis.... silly Mimikyu Smogon says you should be holding a focus sash. Silly Mimikyu.
I got mixed feelings about this death....
On the one hand I didn’t believe Mis Gender would be going to the end with me. Illumise is a bulky bug that has a few tricks up it’s sleeve but as the game goes on and you’re dealing with evolved Pokemon at a higher level it loses its sparkle..... but on the other hand it died in vain because I couldn’t get a T-wave on Mimikyu..... poor Illumise I’ll never know what your gender was.
Time for Plan B and by that I mean Plan Bean. Mimikyu is using mostly physical attacks and Bean can take a hit as well as set up an Acid Armor or two to protect itself before fighting.
Once I had my acid armor set up, however, I had to bring in some rain to rely on Hydration, because Haunter wants to sit there and spam hypnosis and hydration will give me a free heal from sleep.
Only problem with that strategy is when I fell asleep I still missed out on my turn since these Pokemon are too fast compared to Bean. It’s a good thing I got my acid armor in though for it kept me alive throughout all of this.
Once I was finally allowed to make a move I used my Z-Power and took Mimikyu out in one hit. That was for you Mis Gender.... I still feel guilty...
The battle has been won, but before I end things I have a few more encounters to deal with so I don’t forget next time I play.
We got Ramsey B. (Ramsey Bolton tho should be Snow) the Raticate caught on Route 15 that has a Rash nature.
A tie between Gabby and dinner. RNG decided upon Gabby.... I guess I just wasn’t hungry enough. Where was a reliable poison type during the last battle Gabby?
There is Poach Me the Pelipper (I really hate Pelippers design), which was caught on Route 14 with a Lonely nature. It gets exchanged for:
Great another Pikachu..... I don’t know what to make of its name.... I doubt this was a friend to someone, because it’s clearly someone’s route captured Kalos Pikachu.... does it like the TV show FRIENDS?
One more encounter left to exchange....
Fat Bat the Golbat captured at the Mega Thrifty Megamart that has a serious nature.
In exchange I get:
Meloetta? The Shuppet..... oooooo it’s cool that I got an actual ghost type from where I should have got a ghost type encounter. It was clearly given this nickname by someone who wanted to communicate to ask for a Meloetta in link trade.... and for that I already have a head canon. It got so bitter of being used and abused for means of communication it formed a grudge against Meloetta and now it shall dedicate it’s life to finding and destroying Meloetta.

Pokemon Moon Namelocke Episode 7: Beans and Rocks

Don’t mind me just picking up some L Ron Hubbard literature to begin my adventure into Scientology before making my way into Diglett cave!
There isn’t enough Diglett in Diglett cave for my liking as it’s time for my first encounter of the area.
I was going to name it Sookie (despite it being male) but misclicked so now this Zubat is Sooke. I actually wouldn’t mind getting Zubat in this run now that leech life is pretty good, but it’s time to make an exchange.
The closest level sassy Pokemon I got is Miss Murder, but this locke is about using nicknamed Pokemon from other trainers. I don’t want to keep using ones I caught so I made a new clause. If I don’t want to use my own pokemon I am free to use roulette, which makes all Pokemon that come before Miss Murder in the box as well as Miss Murder is a possibility.
For random number generator I have 15 possible options.
Here are some of the possible Pokemon I could wind up with:
That Wurmple tho..... if you were sorry why did you stick it in Wonder Trade? Was hatching an egg really too much for you that you had to take it out on this poor Wurmple. I didn’t wind up with any of these Pokemon, however...
Jose the Pichu! This is another good Pokemon to put on the back burner. I just don’t really need an electric type since I have a bulky grass type and Bean knows Ice Beam to deal with flying types...... I mean it would probably use electric attacks better than DOGE.... but I just like DOGE okay?
Anyway time to clear out all the trainer’s in Diglett cave. I know the Black Belt that wishes to fight me in the end has a Z-move Hariyama, but shouldn’t be an issue. I am a much better trainer now who will no longer put her Pokemon in danger.
OMG BEAN HERE IS A POTION..... OMG I’M SO SORRY :’(
So to make up for my carelessness it’s time to do some backtracking and get the TM Scald that I forgot about to give Bean a better stab attack. I also decided to go revive a Plume Fossil I bought. For this locke I will only revive one fossil and consider it a gift pokemon.
Archen is the perfect Agumon. It really rustles my jimmies when people name Charmander Agumon. Like the designs look nothing a like. Most the people that name Charmander that are fools who don’t even like Digimon and think it’s a rip off Pokemon when it’s completely different. Anyway I don’t think we’ve visited the ‘Bashful’ box.
The Diggersby in the box is level 26 therefore not eligible, but everything under it is level 1 so I have 8 possible outcomes for random number generator.
Here are some of the possibilities:
OOOOOOO I really want a Noibat. I would love a Noibat.... it’d be a great replacement for POOPERMAN?

Another Rowlet on the squad. I don’t know if I’ll be using him, but poor little guy named #073 and not even a proper nature.... by 73 Rowlets you’d think Sigdis would have gotten an everstone on the correct nature if they are shiny hunting... I don’t know.
On to Route 9 to hunt down Olivia, and no there isn’t an encounter for this route. I fished up a luvdisc, but Bean killed it in one shot.
I did get me a wood ghosty at Memorial Hill though.
Evergreen is a neat name, but what the hell.... I got it in a graveyard called Memorial Hill and I didn’t name it Pumpkin Hill? What’s wrong with me?

There was still the Akala Outskirts for another encounter where I got me a Teddy Bear!
Beanie Baby is the only acceptable name for this little mon. I don’t think I have been to the Gentle box. Let’s see what I get.
I don’t have a place on my team for a grass type at the moment, but that is an A+ nickname.
That is all the encounters for the day, so time to power on and complete the trials on the island.
I am reallllllly not good with fighting Hariyamas. They always hit me like a truck. Thank you nerf’d affection perks for keeping me alive.
The Team Skull Admin was not a problem.... I was more worried about Olivia, but I had a solid plan to use Kitten’s fake out to break sturdies before bringing Bean in to acid armor and be set up to comfortably scald my rocky enemies out of here.
For once.... the plan was a success. Sturdy was broken, and Bean set up some defense. Of course Nosepass kept trying to paralyze me, but with one rain dance that wasn’t an issue thanks to Bean’s Hydration ability.
Thanks to acid armor Lycanroc’s Z-move didn’t do anything to me as Bean has now become an invaluable member of the team.
Kyuubi is just shocked she didn’t get brought out to finish the battle.

Pokemon Moon Namelocke Episode 5: Encounters of a Random Kind

As the title suggests I was still thirsty for those encounters so after Zigzagoon was acquired I decided to comb around the first location on my Lapras for some more lovely mons while leveling up Kitten at the same time. Kind of feels like a waste of time, but dark type will eventually come in handy and fake out will help me catch some of these mons.
I went all the way back to that cave by the meadow so I can surf around outside of it and discovered it’s Kala’e Bay on the map, which is a new location so went for my encounter there.
The grass on the outskirts of the area I ran into a female Donald Trump.
Named it Stephanie, because why not? Now let’s see what it’s Bold nature will buy me.
The second shiny to show up in this locke. We have ShakeDatBooty the Oddish. I’m kind of torn about this.... I already have my shiny Capricorn, who is my starter.... and I’m not the type to really consider replacing a starter, but the thing is the Chlorophyll ability would work great with Vulpix’s drought.... but in order to pull that off I’d have to switch out and then in and a grass type really wouldn’t be the best to ever switch into anything unless you are an impish tank like Capricorn. Even though I’d like to Shake that Body so I don’t hurt nobody he will have to remain on stand by.
The Mememe sea right by the H’aoli Beach Front is also a new location where I caught myself another irrelevant 4th gen Pokemon (Finneon) This Pokemon really disappoints me, because they could have done a lot more work with the design for the type of fish it is.
It had a hardy nature, which isn’t that big of a deal anymore since my last few trips to Wonder Trade helped me stock that box a little.
..... I don’t even know what to call this little bug I got in exchange. For right now it will just have to be The Symbol Master. Already got my VIP bug on the squad so in the box it goes.
Now with those encounters out of the way it’s time to continue the journey. Got Kitten leveled up so hopefully I won’t be losing anymore Meowths before getting a Persian.
Once the irrelevant rock tree got out the way (I really dislike sudowoodo blocking paths as though it’s a Snorlax or something actually useful) it was time to hit up the next route for yet another encounter.
Jade is the only name acceptable for a female Lillipup since that’s the name of my Yorkie who was sleeping on my back when I caught this little fellow. The exchange for this Pokemon in the quiet box was a...
I traded a dog for a DOGE. I’ve never actually used a Furfrou before, so this is something to consider for the future.... especially since I don’t think I’ll be taking advantage of Farfetch’d normal type that much, but in the box it goes. Seems kind of lame I know, but my team is fine the way it is really.
What’s most important though.... DID SOMEBODY ORDER A SCRIPTED BATTLE / MINI GAME THAT I’LL NEVER REVISIT?
I don’t know why I’m complaining I’d take Battle Royal over gen 3 contests any day and Misgender agrees. She was actually pretty good in it using struggle bug which attacks everyone on the field though only thing we accomplished really was taking Hau out of the game.
Now back to the actual story, which always leads to more encounters I took a small stroll in Volcano Park where I caught a Fletchling that I named Cinder.... inspired by RWBY obviously and then went to battle some swimmers and explored some hills where I caught MC DigDug the Diglett as a Route 7 encounter.
During the trainer battles Capricorn leveled up and due to the disappointment of Worry Seed not destroying a Schooling I the move for bullduze to give myself some coverage against steel and poison types though Capricorn will obviously not be making any appearances in the upcoming totem battle.
I’m still feeling comfortable with the team.... only regrets is I feel like Pooperman isn’t getting enough attention.
Before going any further it was time for another exciting round of exchanging Pokemon:
I think this is my first trip to the Bashful box and since the Diggersby is too high of level it was tied between 3 level 1s.
When it came to these three I was rooting for Absol, because I could see actually replacing Meowth with it to be honest because it’s probably faster and is one of my favorite Pokemon, and I could also call it EL much like #11 from Stranger Things, but when it comes to a tie the rules state I must use random generator.
2 means Guy the Litten is welcomed to the Back up Brigade. Really if one of the Alola starters had to be a Guy Fieri it would be Litten I guess. Not a bad Poke to have on stand by.
With that out of the way I still have to exchange the Diglett.
I feel like Brave and Timid are the most visited boxes in this game thus far, but there is no tie breaker here. I only have one choice for exchange.
Welcome to the box there Flower.... I was never a fan of using you in Kalos, because you never really packed a bunch and I felt like the game was forcing you on me to understand Fairy Types, but I can’t hold that against you I guess. I also hate the gen 5 elemental monkeys, but I have no complaints about Patrick at the moment.
Of course there is no place for Flower cause the next totem is not a fan of Fairy Types.
Speaking of which it’s time to get into it at the peak of the volcano my Trial does lie.
Lately in battles I’ve been leading with Kitten to get that Fake Out attack in, but I’m just going to throw Patrick right out there hoping for a victory. I promised him if he could win it for me I’d make sure to buy a Water Stone as soon as possible and admit I was wrong about the elemental monkeys.
In my opinion this is one of the hardest battles in the game, because despite it being a fire trial poison is used to it’s full potential here, but at the same time that Hiker Photobomb is still hilarious.
Kyuubi is a huge consideration for this battle because of extrasensory, but I don’t want the enemy taking advantage of that drought ability.
Finally time to take on the ugly fire lizard. I beckon Patrick to use taunt to save me from toxic, but he is too slow.... luckily I fed him enough beans today so he shrugged it off. Not wanting to suffer from that again I just straight up unleash the Water Z move, which leaves the enemy with 10% before sucking up the damage I receive and finishing him off with a scald.
The totem’s ally Pokemon was the most dangerous tbh with the poison gas venoshock combo I was close to losing Patrick. I had no choice but do the thing I said I wouldn’t do.... let Kyuubi finish the battle. She got hit pretty hard, but was faster, so with two extrasensorys the battle was over.
Kyuubi’s eyes say it all. She is the strongest member of my team and she knows it. She knows I’m considering using Pooperman in the grass Trial, but is making it clear that she is my crutch as she always brings me the victory. To not use here and celebrate these moments would be a complete insult to her reputation.
I feel like she’s the one in charge tbh... but this is the first episode where no one died and this means I owe Patrick an apology and that water stone.

It’s super cute that Sun and Moon has all these cameos and call backs to previous generations, but I have a problem with one of them.....
Like really? This is the representation that Gen 5 gets? Colress !?!?!? I know people like Colress, but that’s not my issue with him... my issue is he comes up on you as though he is a nice guy and gives you that flame charge.... you aren’t a nice guy Colress.... you literally assisted in a terrorist attack on the Unova Region for science that really didn’t need to be researched. Fuck off Colress.
Of course first thing I’m going to do on Route 8 is get me that encounter. Caught a Rattata that I named Miss. Murder cause I’m running out of good names for Rattata.... this is like the fourth one I caught.
While battling trainers on Route 8 I’m proud to announce that Pooperman is getting the attention that he deserves. He learned swords dance and is now one shooting all enemies in his way..... also:
It must be Patrick’s Birthday..... and since he has been so good lately I promised him he will get to become a Simipour once the Grass Trial is complete.... seems like a great way to end the episode.
All that is left is to take care of those pesky trainers that give you cool items in exchange for fighting everyone on the route.... should be ezzzy peezzzzy.
POOPERMAN NO!!!!!!!!!!!! You were suppose to be the clue that was going to keep the team together!!!!!! Pooperman was a noble warrior.... the children on Alola should have been singing his praises... but now he is dead and it’s all my fault for being a bad trainer for thinking I was overlevel’d and untouchable leaving myself open for Fearow’s Z-attack.

I had my funeral for the fallen as I put them in their ‘Discard’ box so they could be teleported to the Pokemon Bank before exchanging Miss Murder for a new friend.
Level 19 sassy nature.... let’s see what that buys me.
Here comes Bean the Eevee..... guess what Bean. You just came into this world and you know nothing of Patrick, but we must honor his memory.
Patrick didn’t know you, but he would have wanted you to have it and welcome to the team Vape Buddy. Only problem is the name Bean really doesn’t go well with a water pokemon..... but they say coffee tastes better with purified water so let’s make it work.
Also there is Pooperman’s spot the squad so let’s turn on that Exp share and do some grinding for Bean and B the Delibird an ice flyer might be great to have on the squad.
Then again Bean quickly learned Aurora Beam and is one shotting those wild Pokemon, and took nothing to get him up to level 25.
Also while grinding Kitten got stung by Bees

Who to replace him with? There are obviously a lot of choices, but you know what? I’ve never used a FrouFrou before.... so DOGE let’s give you an electric attack and get to work. Also Break Neck Bltz on a FrouFrou is hilarious.
Leveled DOGE up to level 25 so I could turn that exp share off for the grass totem. The plan going into this is to of course not let anyone die and be tactical for once. The best plan is put Misgender up front with those bug moves and thunder wave to keep those leafy monsters at bae.
Misgender stuck to the plan and did what was asked after a session of Mallow’s Hell’s Kitchen, but then complications happened.
Trumbeak was an issue, because clearly I haven’t been having the best of luck against flyers and Bean can’t come out during a grass type. Kyuubi got brought in to finish the fight as per usual, but her drought became a disadvantage in this as the totem released it’s powerful leaf blade attack almost killing this beautiful fox. Down with 5 hp and knowing if it came to a heal struggle I would lose, because I can’t depend on parahax I only had one option.
It was Kyuubi’s last stand as she used her Inferno Z-power and killed the Totem Pokemon in one hit then killing Trumbeak with a flame burst. She is the MVP of the team and she knows it.... and I’m okay with that if she keeps getting me results.
Before heading off to deal with the final Trial of the Island I decided to go back in that forest for a final encounter for the episode.
DOGE caught me a Fruit Loops and jolly nature is pretty good. Look at what I have in that box. Don’t worry about Garchomp though.... he is level 68 or something so he isn’t coming, but let’s look at my options, of which there is 2 of.
FILIS the Fletchling and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA the Nuzleaf. Oh what wonderful names your original trainers gave you. They are the same level so as usual I must leave it up to random number generator.
As you can see in the box Filis is in the slot after AAAAAAAA so Filis gets to be the squad so I have to do something thinking. I already have my fire type, who if godzilla forbid something happens to her will probably be replaced with a Litten, so do I need another? I don’t know drought with a Talonflame’s fire attacks who will be a speedster thanks to jolly nature would be great, but I’d have to kick DOGE off the team and I really like my FrouFrou..... I don’t know, but FILIS can’t help me in a rock type battle so it will have to be an issue for another day.

Pokemon Moon Namelocke Episode 4: Getting Schooled

There wasn’t much to get excited about after having to sacrifice two of my friends (babies that I caught btw) in order to beat the fighting Trial, but I can be happy about all the new mons I’m adding to this game having done pretty well in Wonder Trades the past week.
(Even while updating this I’ve added yet another box so hopefully there will be more variety in what I draw after my first encounters)
There is even a few shinies in there and some great breedjects with egg moves so here is hoping they’ll be able to help me out in the game.
The positive feelings, however, that came with organizing these scores didn’t last long.
Remember how I said I was going to grind up Richie the Meowth to use in my party since I’ve never used Alonan Meowth before?
Nvm. What kind of a cat gets killed by a bird? WILL NOT BE MISSED.
Anyway on to the next island! A fresh start... filled with adventure.... friends... laughter.... love.... and irrelevant cameos.
Dexio you better be honored I even remember who you are, and the only reason I do is because I recently played X. Glad to see you’ve gone from a Man Child wearing super hero outfits to dressing like a fuck boy now. Anyway yay Zygrade..... :( who cares..... I’m glad there never was a Pokemon Z tbh rather they just keep pushing forward to new versions instead of reworking a game that was already decent.
Anyway after doing the usual NPC sweep to see if anyone had anything for me it was time to head to the first route of the new island.... and lo and behold.
A quirky little bed bug. First encounter of the island I’m excited to see what I’ll get.
So the point of this Locke is to love all Pokemon despite what they are and what nicknames that were forced upon them. Remember these poor Pokemon didn’t have a choice and it’s up to me to love them no matter, but I wasn’t excited about this. 1. What do I even call it? 2. It’s an Illumise enough said.
I settled on just calling her... or they.... misgendered, because I don’t know what the nickname implies, and to tell you the truth Misgendered has surprised me.
Meanwhile back at the ranch wanna be me Mr. Hau decided to engage in battle and my newest party member held it’s own against both Pikachu and Spheal wanna be with no issues at all, and that’s surprising because I really didn’t put much effort into leveling this beautiful fluid gendered bug. Also it’s moves are pretty good to be a staller early battle. Infestation, Moon Light, struggle bug, and probably going to throw a screen up there later it’s actually pretty tanky.
Too be honest Kyuubi is getting a bit jealous. It use to be my star battle finisher and she didn’t even get to come out. Needless to say she would not be amused if ten thousand lightning bugs taught her how to dance.
On to the wild grass around the ranch for the next encounter after I battled an angry bull. Please Taurus you’re nothing compared to Capricorn. Your star sign isn’t even compatible to his.
In honor of that whole exchange I knew what to nickname my first encounter of the area.
Whatever Mistress Moo I doubt you’re that lonely..... not with them titties.... I’m sure you’ll make lots of friends in this box. Let’s see who your replacement is.
Oh boy another Meowth. This one’s name is Kitten.... and I can’t let the past get to me.... so welcome to the party Kitten. I’ll try not to kill you so I can see what all the hype about dark Persian is (though if it dies I’m sure there are more Meowth in this PC waiting for me)
He’ll, however, have to sit in the box for a minute as I made sure to grab that Eevee egg to use as a gift encounter to pick up one of those lovely level 1′s out of my box later.
No encounters for Route 5, however, because I one shotted the mon I came across. Thanks a lot Patrick <.<
Speaking of Patrick though I taught him hidden power fighting since I don’t have a fighting type and his special isn’t too terrible.
Trainers weren’t really an issue except the two that had the birds. There was a bit of a heal struggle as Kyuubi tried out her will-o-wisp to widdle them down.... I really don’t have much that resists flying that much.
Now on to Gladion.... I don’t know why he is picking a fight with me. I am a Gladion fan tbh. I don’t know what it is, because he has a good story.... not the best though, but I think it might be because I really like his hoodie. It looks nice and warm.
Type: Null go the Kyuubi Will-O-Wisp treatment. Was a long fight, but still a victory.
Time to start the water Trial. I have no time for the captain’s humor.... I have pokemans to catch.
My egg hatched on this route. I lv. 1 Eevee that I named Prism. One of my over used names for Eevee’s since I really like that Pink Floyd art of eevee breaking off into it’s different forms.
When it came to the level 1′s in the Brave box there was only two options. Both fire types.
Both of these I like. I got the Floof from a friend in Wonder Trade, and Not Shiny is just funny and Charizard is one of my favorite pokes. Both of them would be great potential replacements for Kyuubi if something horrible happens to her.
As per usual since they are both the same level I had to do a random.org and got Floofmeister the Growlithe who will have to hang out in the PC since I already got fire covered.
Also right after I hatched the Eevee I caught a Poliwag.
I kind of blanked on a name so I called her Mesmorize.... and her replacement from the Docile box is....
Just B the Delibird. Would be a great back up if something happened to Pooperman for ice is always lovely, but really just not the mood to level Poor B up at the moment. So box it is.
Now with that out of the way time to take on the water Trial.
No issues. None at all... well cept one. Worry Seed does not make schooling go away. Science has been accomplished here... all it does is say ‘failed’. The battle was kind of long, because I played like a legit pussy and used the power of both infestation from misgender’d and then leech seed from Capricorns before vine whipping it out.... and the captain’s stupid sense of humor out of my life.
Yay Waterium Z..... Patrick you can have it. Proud of you little buddy for learning scald.
Soon it will be your time to rise above the rest or fail.
Let’s end the episode on a low note, however....
Now that I can surf I went back to Hau’oli.... this time to the beach front since that’s an area I haven’t obtained a Pokemon from. I caught a Finneon and named it rainmaker.... and in exchange for it I got a....
Like I said I did a lot of Wonder Trading for this project before SUMO came out. So this was bound to happen. Get in the box Zigg5.
