Nels Llendo dodged a bullet since he met Rhea at the very start of her journey (read: she hasn't killed anyone yet, was too sweet, naive and trusting). If he met her later, she might not have given a bandit a chance to speak (yeah, she might not have killed him, but she'd definitelly give him a wide berth).

Instead he got himself a very-few-strings-attached girled friend and Rhea got someone she could vent to and get advice from.

ngl tho it would be funny if for some reason nels llendo was like, Blessed By Azura or some shit for some reason and kept coming back to life to bother ku at various stages of her adventures. and he keeps dying in less and less survivable ways but still comes back anyways. idk if it would be funnier if it was like the orcs in shadow of mordor where he’s had his improbable injuries obviously restored somehow, like his head gets cut off but it’s stitched back on, or if he’s just completely blemishless every time. idk
