Got a question for y'all

So I'm working on this little flashcard project, and I know I've barely explained it - essentially I've made a playlist full of songs that remind me of logan angst, and I'm going to create a few simple frames to animate based on some lyrics from each song, like a tiny sampler for each one

However, I'm a little stuck on deciding whether to do a couple frames animatic-style or to just do stylized lyrics within the drawing

So, let me use this for an example:

This one is a simple 2-frame, animatic-style, very minimal animation work at all, nothing complex

And this one is a simple frame with stylized lyrics added into the frame, also very easy because the lyrics are the only part that's really going to be animated

I have to keep it simple regardless because there's a lot of songs on the playlist (so much so that I had to make a second, extended version of the playlist to keep myself in check) but I'm curious what you all might prefer to see...

Just let me know what you think!

Ok this time i actually wrote out what i thought of tsukihime. Im readmoring both for spoilers and length

First off, kohaku's route: really incredible and the way it builds off hisui's route flips a lot of things that seemed innocent on your head, and makes you pay attention to the parts of the plot you already know to understand what Kohaku is really doing and feeling. A good example of this is when Kohaku cuts her finger while cooking and says she can just imagine her hand as a doll hand; in hisui's route this comes across as weird and having more to it, obviously, but knowing exactly what she means makes it a lot sadder to hear.

In general, I think that's one of Tsukihime's strengths you are essentially hearing the same story multiple times, but it manages to recontextualize everything each time and never gets too boring. Certainly there is the difference between the near and far side routes, as well as among the routes themselves, but even those have so many similarities due to shiki's (and SHIKI's) backstory, shiki's connection to the killer, etc. But the timing of the reveals, what shiki does and doesn't know, and a bunch of other things keep the same information feeling fresh, and really lets the game explore all sides of the characters relationships.

Though btw that does remind me why is roa just. Not in the second half? Did he not reincarnate as SHIKI in those? We see Arcueid is in town so one imagines she is here to kill roa. I mean she could just be here to kill the vampire serial killer (SHIKI) but if thats the case she does a real shit job lol. It wasnr that bothersome but it was a little weird to have zero explanation about a major change to backstory.

Anyways i think the near side routes were fine, and arcueid and ciel are both really interesting, fun characters (though i liked arcueid infinitely more) but they definitely lacked the emotional depth the far side routes had. Honestly i knew id like kohaku and hisui as much as i do but i didnt expect to grow to love Akiha as much as i did. It is unfortunate her character is a bit weighed down by nasu's incest fetish or whatever was up with that but pushing past the weird stuff that i think she ended up my favorite character.

And pushing past the weird stuff is like. Required to read tsukihime. Though i will say the sex scenes were very easy to skip thanks tk nasu having specific music for sex lol.

I think besides the weird stuff, though, Tsukihime's major flaw is just the weakness of its themes and symbolism. Which is fine; it more than makes up for that in terms of character depth as well as entertainment quality. But after reading umineko, for example (wow bringing up umineko who would have thought) i really took away a lot of meaning and it's still something i think about in terms of symbolism and themes to this day. The lessons Tsukihime teaches are "killing is bad" and "being nice and forgiving people is good" from what i could tell (though as i let it simmer in my brain i may changs my mind) and those are the same themes as like. Stevens university lol. Again it does a grest job bringing emotional depth to shiki's decision to choose kindness and fight against his nanaya blood or what-not, it just didnt feel like i walked away a changed person like with umineko and similar works. All this does is stops it from being my favorite thing ever, but it was still really enjoyable. I don't do numeric ratings but i think id put this somewhere above steins;gate, and then lowered a bit to account for the fact that nasu was way too horny and way too weird. Which btw i loved steins gate so that means i really loved tsukihime.

Hisui=Kohaku > Akiha > Arcueid > Ciel

Character Ranking:

Akiha > Arcueid > Hisui > Kohaku > Ciel >>> inui > yumizuka > nvnsqr chaos > SHIKI > roa(i guess).

This makes me feel mean ranking kohaku so low but honestly all of the route characters were incredible so its not that i didnt like her.

Oh right what the hell was up with sensei i thought shed be a part of the plot. Idk if its sequel bait or what but i was a little annoyed lol.

i just finished kid cosmic season 1 and..

[spoilers obviously]

man..ONLY 10 episodes? I mean I guess it’s getting a continuation so that’s good. anyways heres my thoughts of the overall season and show

so from the animation alone? fucking beautiful.

people said before that it reminded them of gorillaz and I didn’t see it, but NOW I do. it’s so fluid, and it can be chunky at times, but like, spider-verse type you know? anyways it’s just perfect, it’s fluid, it REALLY fits the hero-comic style of the show. and the BACKGROUND ART. GOD. I WOULD JUST PAUSE AT TIMES AND JUST OBSERVE. OF HOW TRULY BEAUTIFUL IT WAS FOR ME. ITS SO COOL.

ok now for the characters themselves? first off, the kid, he’s just perfect, he’s so pure. everything from his tragic backstory to the connection of his scar? yeah. deep. but THATS what makes him so flawed, and ngl i feel like I relate to him there. the show is OBVIOUSLY revolved around him, cause. kid cosmic. but obviously for not TOO long, cause the OTHER characters, that are ALSO great.

like JO! ok, as a teen, i feel like they kind of captured the characteristics of what a teen would “act” in situations on these, so when jo would just stammer and go insane, i RELATED to that sm! anyways she’s a good character! definitely the mom friend of the group, I see her as kid’s older sister, and she’s badass >:)

MOVING on to rosa! I ALSO related to her too, bonus start off because she was hispanic! as a mexican person, I was REALLY HAPPY to see someone cartoon, on screen, that RESEMBLED me you know? anyways besides that, she’s adorable, she can be a perfect kind of that “toddler-annoying”, and ironically SHES the muscle of the group, but yeah, she’s adorable, she’s such a cool chaotic baby! <3

NOW WITH PAPA G. MAN. he’s like, my PERSONAL favorite character in the show, though I WISHED he had more screen-time but the time I HAD with him, I just, loved him, so much. first off I thought it was already amazing how STRIKINGLY similar he is to WANDER. like. they’re the same person i stg, i wouldn’t be surprised if his design was at first a humanized version of wander DRAWN by craig, if you don’t believe me? watch woy, or just SIMPLY OBSERVE the hat. he EVEN says quotes that wander would say and EVEN said when he was in space that “he thought it was a flashback” THATS EPIC. anyways from his character, he’s ALSO the heart of the group, he is so caring and sweet, and especially to kid, and the fact that he is old, idk why that makes his character even MORE great, because he is ALSO so chaotic and ecstatic for a old ass guy . he also gives kid GOOD advice since, he lives with him, like the “freaking out, breathe it out” quote? swag af. anyways as you can tell, he’s my favorite character lol. i love papa g sm. OH YEAH, HIS NAME REVEALED TO BE GEORGE TOO SO . BUT YEAH, LOVE THIS OLD DOG.

SO ALSO WITH TUNA SANDWICH. not much to say here, id say he got the LEAST screentime , makes sense, cause he’s just the cat, but like at episode 8, he starts TALKING, and it’s just 😳 I was SUPRISED, this kinda overhauled his character, anyways besides that and his kinda useless power imo? he’s an adorable old cat, i almost cried when I saw him as a kitten and ALSO saw BABY KID. like that’s so cute how he’s attached to the kid, and THATS how he uses his power in advance, huh, guess it’s not that useless after all? anyways cute cat, funny too, he fucking cursed too so..

now to the side characters? i wasn’t expecting chuck to TURN good? like ok? 😳 i thought he would just be that stereotypical villain throughout the series in which i can love sometimes, but that wasn’t the case? first off his voice change? I feel like that was good! his stitch voice is cute btw lol. and him having MORE screentime too? following along with tuna? ALSO good! also tom kenny did a good job with his performance of him! now the other side characters like jo’s mom, thought she was ok, I wish the others like rosas parents were in it more you know? also the ACTUAL villain? the biker guy, kind of weak, but he was ok too.

now to the plot, I was EXPECTING for this show to be STORY-DRIVEN, and not like a reset cartoon episode like craig’s LAST cartoon was, and wasn’t let down a bit! the pacing goes by fast, but it says EVERYTHING it needed to be said, and it’s TO THE POINT. like the little details too? such as the foreshadowing when jo saw a glimpse of the newspaper about the car accident in the first episode? oof. then it being EXTENDED where to the point the kid gets flashbacks and cries? that hurt, but that was IMPORTANT to the story kinda, it’s also WHY papa g did that fake robot thing, kind of dick move george, but HEY! he did it for his grandson! besides, it never hurts to he- ok I’ll stop LMAOO, anyways i thought the story was good, so was the pacing

i got SO ARTISTICALLY inspired by the art style and the background art, like GOD, where’s the background artist @ ? I GOTTA KNOW, i STILL LOVE IT SM. FROM THE SIMPLISTIC AND SORTA GRAINY LINEART OF THE DESIGNS TO THAT COMIC FEEL? IT FELT NOSTALGIC SOMEHOW NGL. AND I THINK THEY CAPTURED THE FEEL OF THE SETTING TOO.NEW MEXICO MAN. NOT OFTEN YOU GET CARTOONS THAT TAKE PLACE THERE

MAKES ME HAPPY TBH! anyways

the art style was cute imo, great shit here my dude,I already can’t wait for the continuation, it actually ended in a cliffhanger so that’s kinda poopy. but yeah! craig and his crew went ALL out on this show you can tell! his wife and son even worked on this, EVEN ANDY BEAN! a person that WORKED with craig in woy! It’s great! i almost recognized ALL of the voice actors too, except jack fisher, I had NO idea who he was, but to KNOW an ACTUAL kid CAN give good performances? really says something, HES A PERFECTLY good example for a kid voice actor, he was great! as for the others, and the STARS TOO? such as KEITH FERGUSON, AND FRED TASTIACORE, AMANDA C MILLER, GREY GRIFFIN, KEVIN MICHAEL RICHARDSON, PHIL LAMAAR AND EVEN RICH FULCHER!! they were no joke, and obviously GREAT! im surprised keith can do such a good old man voice, wait never mind, he’s done the “orlando-bloo” voice before and that’s kind of a old voice? idk. but here we are.

overall. this show? i rate it 10/10

cant wait to see more of it!

it’s already such a comfort show for me!

tysm craig for giving me ANOTHER of your cartoons to simply OBSESS over for, you’re the best man! you’re my idol!

this is very messy okay? i just came back

i don’t even know where to begin honestly. i think overall it was a good movie, but i personally failed to connect with some storylines and some characters’ actions. btw, this has absolutely nothing to do with rey’s parentage; i left that whole discourse a long time ago so i stopped caring.

so to put some highlights first

- LEIA ORGANA USING THE FORCE. LEIA ORGANA DOING ANYTHING, WHAT A LEGEND

- MY LORD AND SAVIOR GARETH EDWARDS that little cameo made me smile

- final scene between luke and kylo even though i knew luke wasnt actually present, it was aesthetically pleasing

- binary sunset :(

- LUKE AND LEIA REUNITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- connix <3

- i liked crait wolves and those creatures from canto bight (man, i cant remember what they are called…um… damn), caretakers were very cute

things that made go what the hell am i watching

- luke milking that space cow, why (even though i laughed)

- porgs in general, they were cute but slightly annoying

- some of the humor was a bit dull but then again i liked few scenes

aaaaaaand things that got me completely underwhelmed (sadly, plenty of things)

- paige tico dying after like 5 minutes, a big disappointment but i knew this would happen. maybe storywise it made sense because it was something that drove rose’s story later on. still i wish she didnt die so quickly (but she was also a hero ♥)

- i expected a lot more from kylo’s turn :/ so the whole thing didn’t work for me. that being said...

- luke deciding to kill ben was OOC for him (i hope someone asks mark about this soon because i am 99,99% sure he agrees)

- kylo’s shirtless scene was unnecessary

- rey and kylo’s connection, so many of their scenes genuinely made me cringe. i also felt like rey’s own development got slightly sidelined and the movie focused more on her relationship with kylo.

- snoke’s death and everything about him. i just went …..THAT’S IT? okay…

- i said i didnt care about rey’s parentage and, while that’s true, i dont see how addressing who her parents were “payed off emotionally” but okay rian, you do you. im saying this bc most fans (me too, at some point last year but not anymore) had a lot of expectations set from TFA, interviews etc…. you know what i mean by this. let me clear it up right away: her parents being some random dead people doesnt make me love rey less, she’s amazing no matter who she is. i just wish things were handled way differently before this movie. i didnt see the point in so much mystery rather than having your audience guess and speculate for two whole years. also the way kylo spoke to her in that scene was a clear example of emotional abuse (”your parents are dead, they never cared, you have nothing and no one left but me”)

- DJ’s “turn” again finn and rose was predictable. his character wasn’t even necessary for the plot

- i wasn’t a big fan of how poe’s character was handled

- finn/rose forced romance

- phasma, oh my god… do i need to say this? DO I NEED TO SAY THIS? gwen baby i am so sorry :/ she deserved a lot better

- hux took too much screentime again, why is he still around? who the fuck cares?

and…. finally (doesnt fit in any “category”)

- luke’s death. BECAUSE sadly i was indirectly spoiled about it earlier.... but even if i wasnt, it wouldn’t have surprised me :(

so uh, 7/10 from me… or 7.5/10?

EDIT: 3/10 it’s what she deserves.

i will probably watch another time, hopefully i will change my mind about some stuff. idk this “review” (again, incoherent MESS of a post) might seem a little harsh but i expected a lot more. yes, that’s it. nope didnt change my mind, it’s even worse.

EDIT 2: so a lot of people seem to think kylo must’ve lied to rey about her parents. which is plausible, it could be that he did. but you know what? even though i am not a fan of the way they resolved this in TLJ, i’d be pretty annoyed if they went “HAH! GOTCHA! KYLO LIED” two years from now. it would be redundant and even worse than what we got. i dont even want to talk about this issue again, but this is how i feel right now.
