There's always the fear of forgetting the faces of loved ones that passed away, but visiting the old camps as John and hearing the echoes of people he knew hurts in a different way.
John may forget parts of his brother, but he'll never forget his voice.
He'll never forget the voices of the people he once saw as a family, for better or for worse, he is haunted by these echoes of the past.
John’s response in an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine about the split from ABKCO and whether he anticipated a situation similar to the Stones — who had lost both their publishing and master tapes to Klein:
JOHN: No, there is a difference between us and the Stones. Apparently, and I emphasize the “apparently”, Klein managed to get ownership of the Stones’ copyrights and records, and we were already contracted up from the beginning. And due to the presence of Lee Eastman looking over Paul’s shoulder all the time—and therefore looking over Klein’s shoulder—[Klein’s] movements were hampered. We can now be thankful for that situation. We knew it was beneficial all the time playing one off against the other, and eventually we ended up here.”
INT: How would you describe your present relationship with Paul McCartney?
JOHN: Distant physically. And mentally pretty OK.

I feel sorry for every non-far-cry-5-player who ever set foot in my car only to have to listen to ‘Oh John’ and ‘Keep Your Rifle By Your Side’ , wondering what the fuck is wrong with my taste in music.
I want to thank @misspaoline and @wavesofjohn for being such good and lovely friends and it’s because of them I didn’t delete my tumblr. Love you girls 💚
Come brothers and come sisters
Come weary and come strong
Let's beat the man who steals the land on which we walk upon
The time has come for judgement, and his list of sins is long
Join us so, we all can sing along
Oh John (oh John)
Dumb and lame
He's lying to his family
He's twisting up the faith
Oh John (oh John)
You ain't safe
We're gonna fight the cult of Eden's Gate
Oh Lord
We're gonna fight the cult of Eden's Gate
Come mothers and come fathers
Come caring and come fierce
You've gotta see this for yourself if you can't believe your ears
He takes the word and and spins it to manipulate his peers
But we have truth, and all he has are fears
Oh John (oh John)
Dumb and lame
He's lying to his family
He's twisting up the faith
Oh John (oh John)
You ain't safe
We're gonna fight the cult of Eden's Gate
Oh Lord
We're gonna fight the cult of Eden's Gate
Come elders and come children
Come wisdom and come fire It's not the voice of God he hears, but the voice of his desire Claims he's a man of promise, but in truth he's just a liar
We've gotta rise against his twisted choir
Oh John (oh John)
Dumb and lame
He's lying to his family
He's twisting up the faith
Oh John (oh John)
You ain't safe
We're gonna fight the cult of Eden's Gate
Oh Lord
We're gonna fight the cult of Eden's Gate
there's an extremely subtle hint of mockery in the response, one that giovanni knows john would be able to track down. they've known each other long enough.
his hand absentmindedly runs through daphne's silky fur, and she gives a low, content rumbling sound as a response, fixing her comfortable position, head resting on her owner's lap.
