THE SINKING SHIP is a brand new Our Flag Means Death-themed Golden Age of Piracy Discord RPG open to characters from history, myth, legend, original creation, and other media (Pirates of the Caribbean, Black Sails, etc.). This is a space for like-minded writers both to roleplay via the Discord system and to connect, hang out, and network with one another, and we are pleased to be officially soft-launching this week! Story Arc 1: Kraken's Return

The Golden Age of Piracy does not seem very golden at the moment for the former co-captains of The Revenge as Blackbeard begins his bent as the Kraken and the Gentleman Pirate finds himself without a ship and half a crew. Everyone's nerves are frazzled. Stede and the marooned crew manage to get to safe-ish port at the Republic of Pirates and set their goals on one of two things: a ship for pursuit or a fuckery to draw Blackbeard back to them. Whether either will work is a shot in the dark. Meanwhile Blackbeard, Izzy, and the crew they stole away are finally doing some real pirating again. Except Blackbeard's swung all the way back round to being a danger to anyone around him, so survival becomes the major focus for those still onboard The Revenge.

The powers that be, royal, mysterious, or otherwise, have deemed fit to set a high bounty on Blackbeard's head for his desertion of privateer duties. There are some who even have it in for the Gentleman Pirate at this point, after hearing weird stories about a partnership with Blackbeard, the robbery and utter destruction of a high society social vessel under false identities, and his vaunted wealth at sea. Suffice to say, both are prominently wanted figures now, drawing a variety of personalities to the ocean waves looking for a piece of the action.

THE SINKING SHIP is currently open & seeking: - canon crew members - adapted historical figures - time & thematically appropriate original characters - time & thematically appropriate characters from other media currently accepting up to three iterations of all canon characters.

I've been playing D&D with my friends for something like 4 years now: the Forgotten Realms, 5e, Volo's old guides, they're all very dear to me. My love will always be for the spirit of the game, the immense creativity and passion behind it; wherever it goes from here, no matter what happens, Hasbro and WotC can't take it from me.

This being said, I'm ready to move on with the community if needed: I can only hope Paizo's ORC or Kobold Press' Black Flag capture my heart like D&D did, but I think their track record so far puts me a little bit at rest. In the meantime, here's my first PC Eldelbar the Half-Orc Fighter all ready to make them Wizards tremble!

“Look there he goes, isn’t he dreamy? Monsieur Gaston, oh he’s so cute!”

✨ Biography:

Being a triplet is all Laurette has ever known. She was the youngest of the three, but that didn’t really matter. She wasn’t babied by her parents but her eldest sister, Claudette, took the title as superior early on. Laurette didn’t care that much but she was the troublemaker of the three. She liked attention and she let it be known she was the center of attention. Her sisters didn’t like that though and they were always fighting to be the star of the show. In high school is when the girls all started to become individuals and now just triplets. Laurette was popular by association but that didn’t mean she didn’t branch out. She liked boys and she liked them a lot. She was the first of the three to lose their virginity and she claimed that title proudly. She wasn’t in love with the boy by any means, but he did offer her other ways to escape. She fell in love with the rush of doing bad things. Her boy toy was a notorious bad boy and she thrived from that. He was the first to show her the dangerous things in life. Sex and drugs went hand in hand together and he gave her both. Laurette liked drugs better than she liked sex and she did them a lot. It started out simple, just smoking weed but when that wasn’t enough she ditched the boy and found bigger and ‘better’ people. She knew she broke his heart, but she didn’t care. She found harder drugs and that’s all that mattered. Her sisters never intervened because they didn’t really care. 

After high school Laurette knew she wouldn’t get into college. She had better things to do anyway. She got a job at a music shop and she actually really liked it. Her parents weren’t rich so the girls all had to find a way to make a living. Laurette hated it and she wasn’t kind to customers. She had an attitude problem and she enjoyed fucking with people’s minds. She didn’t last long there and she didn’t care. It was perfect timing though because Claudette introduced her and Paulette to Gaston. He was amazing, in their eyes at least, and Laurette called dibs. She thought she did at least. Claudette and Paulette would claim they did the same, but Laurette knew the truth. Opening up a brothel wasn’t her idea but she was on board with it. She already knew she liked sex so why not get paid for it? Unlike Claudette, Laurette wanted people to pay to be with her. She didn’t care who it was as long as they had something good to offer. If a man stepped out of line though you can bet Laurette was the first one to let them know it was their first and last time doing so. While Claudette dealt with the boring stuff in owning a business, Laurette was the face of it. She enjoyed the attention and she liked to think she was in charge even though her sisters made it clear she wasn’t. Laurette was a little too unhinged at times and that often jeopardized the business. She knew she had to be careful, but she couldn’t help it. She liked to brag and she liked to let loose and go too far sometimes. Paulette, who was the voice of reason of the three said her sister needed help. Laurette still did drugs and her while Claudette wasn’t too concerned, Paulette was. She begged her sister to stop but she had no plans. It was the only thing that kept her somewhat sane. Besides, she liked it and Laurette wasn’t in the business of denying herself what she liked. With business came money which meant more money for the finer things in life. She developed bad habits and did whatever she could to get what she wanted. She didn’t see what was so bad about that. Honestly, she’s living her best life. She may not go about it the right way, but she’s happy and that’s all that matters to her.

Alfie Linguini: She doesn’t know what is so damn attractive about him, but Laurette wants a piece of that. He is so meek and spineless and Laurette feels she can really boost his confidence.

Nuka Cox: He is clearly into her, but she plays hard to get because she likes to see him get a little crazy. They have a pretty solid cat and mouse game going on and one day Laurette will let him get a taste, but only when the game isn’t fun anymore.

Scenario: You have been virtually dating for over a year and finally convinced them to meet up in person. You set up a neutral place at a hotel somewhere in the middle of where the both of you live and are waiting to see one another in the lobby and spend the weekend together.

Willow had been sitting on the brown loveseat in the lobby of this cities' nicer hotels, lightly fidgeting with one of the rings on her fingers as she inconspicuously watched the door to see the figure of the person she was waiting for. The two had been dating digitally for over a year now. And now, finally all of the phone calls and video chats and falling a sleep on facetime together had finally brought the two of them to this moment; Where they would finally meet the person they love and had been pining for.

Willow let out a small sigh as she leaned backwards to look back at the door once more to try and spot the familiar face before she turned to just generally look around at the other people moving through the lobby. As more and more people moved around the more she started to fidget and play with her heels as the nerves began to get the better of her.

'Were they really the person they said they were?' What if this was all a ploy to get you stolen and sold to sex traffickers?' She thought before letting out a heavy sigh and closing her eyes, crossing her arms across her chest. 'Gotta have faith, Willow.. Faith that they want this just as much as you do.' She thought to herself before she heard the main door to the hotel open. "Have faith, Willow."

what makes this a skeleton roleplay is that there is no long, tedious application to fill out. all we require is a just a short skeleton for you to plug in information regarding your chara into. there are no pre-written bios or requirements for any muse that wants to join us !! if you want to write a muse more involved in the plot, you just let us know.
