Monaco shimmered beneath the fading sunlight, a familiar scenery for Lewis and Y/N. This time, however, the champagne flowed with a bittersweet undercurrent as nestled in a drawer, a positive pregnancy test hummed with a quiet revolution. No elaborate pronouncements, just a single pink line etching a new chapter onto their shared story.

Their path to parenthood hadn't been meticulously expected. Discussions about starting a family had danced between them, unspoken agreements carried on the wind of their non-stop lives. Lewis, now an eight-time champion, a feat achieved under the scarlet banner of Ferrari, still felt the fire to chase another title. Yet, amidst the celebrations at the end of season, a quiet voice whispered that perhaps, the timing might have been just right.

As the celebratory roar began to fade, replaced by the clinking of abandoned champagne flutes, Lewis found himself gazing at Y/N, her smile hesitant yet imbued with a radiant joy, although the reason behind it hadn’t been revealed.

Their planned racetrack of a future had morphed into a sprawling unknown, but as Y/N's hand met his, a quiet certainty bloomed within him. This unplanned detour wasn't a wrong turn. It was a victory lap of a different kind, perhaps the starting grid for their greatest adventure.

A Dream

Sunlight speared through the sliver of uncovered window, painting a warm stripe across Lewis's features. Y/N stirred beside him, the weight of sleep clinging to her eyelids. Disoriented for a moment, she blinked, the room slowly coming into focus. Lewis, sprawled on the plush white chaise lounge next to his driver’s room sofa, was the first thing that registered.

Except, he wasn't really by himself, not mentally anyway.

His gaze was fixed on a spot above her stomach, a soft, almost reverent smile playing on his lips. He spoke, his voice a low murmur that sent shivers down Y/N's spine.

"Alright, little one," he was saying, "I know you can't hear me yet, but listen up. This whole thing...it's a bit overwhelming, you know?" He chuckled, a nervous sound that tugged at Y/N's heart. "Honestly, I don't have a clue what I'm doing. But your mama here," he glanced at Y/N, his eyes warm, "she's a trooper. We'll figure it out, together. As a team."

The sight of Lewis, ever the composed champion, confessing his anxieties about fatherhood sent a wave of tenderness over Y/N. Carefully, she reached out, her fingertips brushing against the dark braids of his hair.

"Lewis," she croaked, her voice thick with sleep.

He turned, his smile widening as he met her gaze. "Hey there, beautiful.”

"Just getting to know the newest member of the team," he continued, his eyes flickering back to her stomach. "We were having a little chat."

Y/N couldn't help but laugh, a soft sound that echoed in the quiet room. "It can’t really hear you" she said, her smile fading slightly. "It's still early days, remember?"

Lewis's smile softened. He reached out, his hand hovering just above her stomach. "I know," he said, his voice gentle. "But that doesn't mean I can't try, does it?"

Lewis, ever the believer in manifestation, ever the optimist. She scooted closer, making room for him on the sofa. He settled beside her, his arm wrapping around her shoulders, pulling her close.

"How was your nap?" he asked, his lips brushing against her temple.

"Good," she mumbled, nuzzling closer to him. "But you woke me up with your…pep talk."

"Just some heart-to-heart, you know?!" he said with a wink. "With the little one, of course."

Y/N rolled her eyes playfully, but a smile tugged at her lips. The past few weeks had been a whirlwind. The surprise of the positive test, the initial shock, the overwhelming joy – it had all been a blur. Lewis, ever the supportive partner, had taken it all in stride. Sure, there were moments of worry, of panicked glances exchanged in stolen moments, but mostly, there was a quiet excitement that simmered between the couple.

Out of the blue, as it tended to be, a loud growl echoed in the quiet room. She winced, covering her eyes in shame. "Hey, hey, it's okay," he soothed, his voice laced with concern. "This little one needs some food, right?"

Y/N nodded, the growling easing down "Yeah," she mumbled, leaning her head against his shoulder. "Sorry, I..."

"Don't apologize," he said firmly. "This is all part of the journey. We're in this together."

His words held a quiet strength, a comforting confidence that calmed the churning in her stomach. It was more than just constantly being hungry; it was a reminder of the tiny miracle growing inside her.

They lay in silence for a moment, the only sound the rhythmic rise and fall of their breathing. Outside, the world buzzed with activity, the roar of the racetrack a distant rumble. But here, in this quiet haven, a different kind of race was about to begin – a race against time, against uncertainty, but most importantly, a race towards a future filled with the promise of a tiny miracle. And that little one, even though they were still just a whisper of a dream, was already so loved. More than Y/N could ever imagine.

Your scent

The crisp scent of Lewis's signature cologne, a heady mix of citrus and spice, usually sent a wave of warmth through Y/N. Today, however, it was the trigger for a rebellion in her stomach. A wave of nausea crashed over her, sending her scrambling out of bed towards the bathroom.

Lewis, stirred by the commotion, sat up, blinking away the remnants of sleep. "Y/N? You alright?" he called out, concern etching lines on his forehead.

Y/N emerged from the bathroom, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. "Yeah," she mumbled, her voice weak. "Just a little…" she trailed off, the metallic tang of bile rising in her throat.

Lewis was by her side in an instant, his hand rubbing soothing circles on her back. "Morning sickness again?" he asked gently.

Y/N shook her head, forcing a weak smile. "Second trimester was supposed to be smooth sailing, they said" Her voice held a hint of sarcasm, even to her own ears.

Lewis chuckled softly. "Maybe smooth sailing is a bit optimistic," he admitted. "But hey, at least you're keeping food down" Y/N grimaced. That particular phase had been brutal. She rinsed her mouth in the sink, the minty freshness a welcome relief.

"Actually," she started hesitantly, Lewis's brow furrowed. "What is it?"

Y/N hesitated, then took a deep breath. "Your cologne," she began, gesturing vaguely towards the bottle on the dresser "it's making me sick."

The surprise on Lewis's face was comical. He stared at the bottle, then back at Y/N, as if trying to process the information. This was the cologne he'd worn for years, his signature scent. It was practically an extension of him.

"My cologne?" he finally managed, his voice a mixture of disbelief and amusement. "But it's…" he trailed off, searching for the right words. "It's me, Y/N. You love me, right?"

Y/N couldn't help but laugh, the sound shaky but genuine. "Of course, I love you, silly," she said, reaching out to cup his face. "But right now, your child doesn’t really enjoy your 'you-ness'”

A slow grin spread across his face. "Alright, then” he declared, picking up the cologne bottle. "Operation: Find a pregnancy-safe scent it is."

Y/N watched, a smile playing on her lips, as Lewis rummaged through his extensive collection of grooming products. "How about this one?" Lewis asked, holding up a small, unassuming bottle with a label that read "Lavender Serenity."

Y/N wrinkled her nose playfully. "A bit too…serene for you, wouldn't you say?"

Lewis chuckled, tossing the bottle back onto the dresser. "Maybe. But hey, at least it won't make you puke."

Whoever they are

The air crackled with anticipation as Y/N's mother hoisted a heavy bag of groceries onto the kitchen counter. Lewis's dad, Anthony, hovered beside her, peering inside with a mischievous glint in his eye.

"Alright" Anthony announced, brandishing a head of cabbage, "let's settle this once and for all. Boy or girl?"

Y/N chuckled, her belly, now a prominent dome beneath her maternity clothes, bouncing with laughter. "Lewis and I have already agreed, no peeking!"

Across the room, Lewis, ever the competitor, mirrored Y/N's amusement. "Besides," he added, winking at Anthony, "I have a feeling your cabbage test is about to be proven wildly inaccurate."

Anthony scoffed playfully. "Don't underestimate the power of tradition. Now, hand me that measuring tape."

As the pregnancy had unfolded everyone had made the bump a target to old wives' tales and lighthearted debate.

Y/N's mother, a firm believer in the "pregnancy glow" theory, insisted the baby was a girl based on Y/N's radiant complexion. Anthony, armed with his cabbage test (apparently, a high, round shape indicated a boy), remained stubbornly convinced otherwise.

Lewis, however, held a quiet confidence in his prediction of a girl. He couldn't explain it; it was just a feeling, a deep one that resonated within him.

The rest of the family, friends, and even Ferrari staff, seemed convinced it was a boy. The sheer volume of blue onesies and miniature race car toys accumulating in the nursery was a testament to that.

Despite the overwhelming "boy" camp, Y/N found herself drawn to Lewis's quiet certainty, her mother's unwavering belief and Leclerc’s claim that Lewis was a girl dad and he wouldn’t believe in anything else. There was a subtle shift in their preferences, a secret language of pink frilly socks and delicate stuffed animals tucked away in the corner of the nursery.

As the due date came ever closer the playful arguments gave way to a more sentimental atmosphere.

Anthony surprised everyone one evening by pulling Y/N into a tight embrace. "Girl or boy," he said, his voice thick with emotion, "you're going to be incredible parents. And that little one," he patted Y/N's stomach gently, "they're already so loved."

A tear escaped Y/N's eye, mirroring the glistening in Lewis's. The truth was, the gender didn't matter. They were about to embark on the greatest adventure of their lives.

As Y/N snuggled against Lewis on the couch, just days before their little one arrived, her hand resting on her swollen belly, a wave of peace washed over her.

"You know," she whispered, "maybe the whole point isn't about knowing the gender."

Lewis turned to her, his eyes reflecting the soft glow of the lamp. "What do you mean?"

"Maybe," Y/N continued, a smile gracing her lips, "the point is in the surprise. The joy of meeting them, whoever they are, for the very first time."

Lewis's smile mirrored hers. He squeezed her hand gently. "We're ready, whatever comes." he said, his voice filled with an unshakeable certainty.

Their shared ritual

Exhaustion clung to Y/N like a second skin. The past three months had been a parade of sleepless nights, endless diaper changes, and the constant, gnawing worry that comes with being a new parent.

But nestled in the crook of her arm, a tiny miracle slept soundly. Her daughter, in a quiet moment of shared hope, was a testament to the love that bloomed amidst the chaos.

She was a symphony of soft sighs and the occasional gurgle, her tiny fists clenched in a peaceful slumber. However, the moment Lewis's voice cut through the quiet of the room, her whole world seemed to shift.

"Hey there, my little champion," Lewis cooed, his voice a low murmur as he entered the nursery. The infant’s eyes, a pitch perfect copy of her dad’s brown ones, snapped open. A wide, gummy grin split her face, and a high-pitched squeal erupted from her tiny lungs.

Y/N watched the scene unfold with warmth washing over her. Lewis, ever the prodigy, had taken to parenthood like a natural. The same gentle persuasion he used on the racetrack was now employed to coax a smile from their daughter, his voice a soothing melody that calmed her fussy cries.

The transformation was remarkable. Y/N vividly recalled the first trimester, Lewis sheepishly confessing his anxieties about fatherhood to their unborn child. And throught the months a routine was created as every evening, he'd spend a quiet moment by Y/N's side, whispering words of encouragement and promises of love to the tiny bump.

"Alright, little one," Lewis would say, his voice barely above a whisper, "we're going to face whatever comes our way, as a team, okay?"

Those nightly pep talks, once a source of amusement for Y/N, now seemed almost prophetic. The kid, it seemed, recognized Lewis's voice as a source of comfort, a familiar sound that echoed the evenings spent nestled safely inside Y/N, bathed in the sound of his love.

Lewis, oblivious to the internal monologue playing in Y/N's head, scooped the baby into his arms, his face alight with a radiant joy. He bounced her gently, singing a silly, made-up song about a race car driver and a tiny princess. Captivated by her father's performance, the infant cooed and gurgled in response, her tiny hand reaching out to grab a lock of Lewis's dark braids.

Watching them together, a lump formed in Y/N's throat. The exhaustion that had threatened to consume her throughout the day had faded away, replaced by a fierce and overwhelming love. There, in the quiet sanctuary of the nursery, their team flourished – united by an invisible thread of shared love, a love story whispered before their daughter ever entered the world.

I gotta say this fandom is starting to feel like my family gatherings,

Every time I bring a new dude to some event, they have already endgamed us and invisioned our future kids together.

Very funny in my eyes.

Tommy has just arrived, and though he is cute and funny and sexy, and tbh if I were a gay man, I'd climb him like a tree and refuse to come down.

But Buck literally just called himself an ally (sorry, still bursting out laughing every time I write it) Tommy is not in endgame position yet, he's just a get to know thy self to Buck at the moment.

Do I wish for them to have some hot ally sex? Absolutely!

Would I consider them endgame, I'm not optimistic.

I don't know if it will buddie or not, but as I've witnessed with some of my gay friends when they were newly minted out of the closet experience. The first venture into the unknown rarely becomes domestic bliss.

They all switched dozens (being gentle, lol) boyfriends before settling on the right partner. And they didn't have a nearly ten year Eddie in that corner closet. 👀

So Lou is great and all and I hope we keep him. But he feels like Lucy's Chris from The Rookie before she got together with Bradford.

(Sidenote, I loved Chris! He was so right for her. And I actually shipped Chenford, lol. It was bittersweet for me😅)

Sibling Relationships in "Walking on a Star Unknown"

Like Segawa's other games, "Walking on a Star Unknown" is heavy on themes of trauma. Despite the relatively light tone of the game, the natives of Calpucca still haven't forgotten the Starling War, and spirits still linger in Yunerium and Fort Baobab, unable to move on due to their hate, fear, and anger. Some Calpuccans are still wary of aliens, like the king himself, Giera Toph.

Some traumas, however, are present on a smaller — yet no less significant — scale, such as the death of a parent. (Now that I think about it, where are all the parents in this game??) In this meta, I will examine the parallels between three sibling relationships, the way Segawa integrates trauma into them as a theme, and how the relationships present by the end of the game.

Spoilers ahead!

Eddie and Fukuro

First up, our main characters. Right off the bat, we can see that the two of them have a very healthy relationship: They address each other with terms of affection, complement each other's abilities and weaknesses, and have each other's backs no matter what. They're nearly inseparable throughout the main game, and in the bonus room, if you ask Eddie as Twelam whether he's lonely without Fukuro, he readily admits that, "to be honest," he is. The two even sleep and bathe together, which Twelam is shocked by.

The Owul siblings rarely get mad at each other, except for when Eddie apparently takes food from Fukuro. Overall, they exhibit secure attachment to their late mother (in whose memory they're travelling the cosmos) and each other. Attachment styles describe patterns of how a person interacts with their relationships, beginning in childhood and extending into adulthood; as adults, individuals with secure attachment:

Have trusting, lasting relationships

Tend to have good self-esteem

Share feelings with partners and friends

Seek out social support

Given the sheer amount of friends they make on Calpucca, their trust in one another, and their deep love for their mother, we can see that Eddie and Fukuro fulfil points 1 and 4. They rarely ever show self-doubt or low self-esteem and are always up for the challenge, demonstrating point 2. And the Owul siblings pretty freely express themselves to others even with Fukuro's naturally reserved nature, demonstrating point 3. The Owul siblings are a really healthy pair of siblings, which has undoubtedly helped them prop each other up after the loss of their mother. Thanks to the immense love and care they grew up with, they are happy, healthy kids who protect each other from harm and difficulty. Even when things happen to them that are frightful or disturbing (such as the hallucinations in Yunerium or Nuage), they don't appear to remain fazed after the event. One can only imagine the methods they have of cheering each other up if the other ever feels scared or down.

Rius and Toph

By contrast, Rius and Toph, the royals of Calpucca, have a somewhat tense relationship at the beginning of the game. Part of this may be the much larger age gap between them — Rius is 27 while Toph is 13, so there's nearly a generation between them — but as we learn with each passing day, the real issue is Toph's distrust of aliens. Rius, of course, is married to one.

Rius and Toph's relationship is, in my opinion, particularly fascinating due to the role trauma plays in it. Pretty much all of the hurt lands in Toph's court, which we'll discuss later on — but also, intergenerational trauma plays a big role in why they can't see eye to eye. Rius, an independent-minded, optimistic woman who self-admittedly lives for love, forfeits her royal privileges when she marries the alien Daios after he wins the Gourmate Cooking Tournament; in her opinion, it's high time they adopt a more progressive outlook, in part because she wants Toph to accept her and Daios for who they are. Toph, on the other hand, would have been taught as the future ruler of Calpucca what aliens had done to his people and his planet during the invasion of Megalopolis, and from what I understand, xenophobia has been a recurring theme with Calpucca's rulers, not just with Toph. With this history lesson firmly established, Rius eloping with Daios must have been a confirmation of the things he had learnt. "Aliens are dangerous. One has even stolen my sister!"

At the time Rius left, Toph would have also been eight — a tender age to be abandoned by an older sibling, one he obviously looks up to. As children, we are often ill-equipped to process everything we're feeling, and we see that in Toph, too. We see that he does feel abandoned, because he keeps muttering to himself that he wishes Rius would come back to live at the castle. He asks — borderline demands — this of her whenever they meet, and she draws a firm boundary every time: "I love you, but I can't lie to you or myself about what I want." Just like how his understanding of the past prevents Toph from showing goodwill towards aliens, Toph's desire for how things were before Rius left prevents him from seeing the potential of reconnecting with her in the present. It's not until the Owul siblings lend a hand that the situation is able to change, and Toph himself remarks on the nature of the Owuls' relationship several times, unable to help being reminded of his sister.

Happily, the two are able to reconcile by the end of the game due to a family crisis (and some cats) pulling them together, and we see the surest sign of progress between them in the Bonus Room: Rius and Daios have a daughter, the result of love between a royal and an alien, and "Unca Toph" is just as concerned for her well-being and future as he would be his sister's.

Guntram and Twelam

Where Fukuro and Eddie are close siblings, and Rius and Toph would be close if not for Toph's stubbornness and unwillingness to change, Guntram and Twelam are completely dysfunctional and probably always will be. These two are my favourite, as will soon become apparent, but just so you know, I have a personal hypothesis that Segawa designed these two to be foils to the Owul siblings. After all:

Both sibling pairs have incredibly similar designs to each other. (Rius and Toph too, but the resemblance is lessened by the age difference.)

Both sibling pairs are four years apart (Eddie and Fukuro: 17 and 13; Guntram and Twelam: 32 and 28).

Both have an older brother and a younger sister.

Eddie and Fukuro's main colour is red, while Guntram and Twelam's is green (complementary colours).

Both sibling pairs have recently lost a parent (the Owuls their mother, the Hamelins their father).

Eddie and Fukuro have a stable, securely attached sibling relationship, while Guntram and Twelam... don't.

Despite their many similarities (music as a career, love of children, taste in style/fashion, the same tendency to get lost in thought, deep loneliness), there's no sense of warmth or intimacy between the Hamelins at all. Where Eddie and Fukuro are inseparable, you meet the two of them conducting their own independent investigations on Day 2 in Sirene — they even view each other as competition! Though they live in the same house, they rarely occupy the same room, and they don't intersect much in their professional careers. Eddie's and Fukuro's differences make up for where the other is weak or not as skilled; Guntram and Twelam's differences are sources of tension, with Guntram thinking Twelam is too wild and impulsive and Twelam thinking Guntram is stuffy, timid, and gloomy. To really hammer it in, they live in the always-cold northern town of Eluta, where their parents' legacy haunts them.

And yet — one gets the sense that they do care about each other, if they can't exactly show it. Guntram nags Twelam, trying to look after her in his own way. When she has complaints about Guntram, Twelam will air them, but she's not so straightforward when she's concerned for him: "Oshino misses him," she'll say. Or she'll lash out in anger, threatening to burn down everything he cares for so that he can move on.

Because there is something for the two of them to move on from, an intergenerational trauma on a smaller scale than Toph and the Starling War: their relationship with, and the death of, their parents. After his wife's death, Guntram's father became punishing to the point that Guntram abandoned his own interests and dreams out of deference; he loves, fears, and respects his father, as even at 32 he's struggling to find a direction in life he can call his own. The siblings' mother died shortly after Twelam was born, meanwhile; she grew up emotionally neglected, with her brother being the main focus of their father's tutelage and no memory of the same warmth and kindness her brother remembers of Meryl. The two are not close because they were never taught to be; Guntram was pushed and pushed to become the best musician he could, while Twelam took off in her own direction and was praised for her assertiveness.

As you get closer to the Hamelin siblings, their arcs involve little of each other at all: Instead, Guntram realises his dream of putting on a children's concert, while Twelam is finally able to grasp the piece in her family history she always felt was missing (just like the music box was missing its key). Twelam is envious of the Owuls' closeness, while Guntram thinks far more about his father than his younger sister. There's potential for the Hamelin siblings to reconnect, but they don't by the end of their stories like Rius and Toph. Probably they'll have to really work at it to get anywhere, but the game doesn't give us, the audience, that guarantee. Their problems are larger than Fukuro or Eddie are capable of mending: They're so independent of one another that it's up to them to approach the beast on their own.

Conclusion

There are three main sibling relationships present in "Walking on a Star Unknown": the Owul siblings (Fukuro and Eddie), the royals (Rius and Toph), and the Hamelins (Guntram and Twelam). Of the three, Eddie and Fukuro are the closest and the most secure, able to work in tandem to address challenges and overcome obstacles. Rius and Toph are divided by their differing perspectives on aliens, largely based on Toph's personal feelings of abandonment and distrust in the aftermath of the Starling War, but Fukuro and Eddie are the final straw in his acceptance of them (and Rius's marriage to Daios). Finally, Guntram and Twelam have the most dysfunctional sibling relationship in the game, something that stems from the vastly different treatment they received from their father: Guntram was overly controlled, while Twelam was left to follow her whims.

While all three sibling pairs have experienced sadness and hardship, Eddie and Fukuro are so supportive of one another that their mother's legacy has been turned into something that brings joy to themselves and others, not pain; Rius and Toph can't see eye to eye until Toph is made to break out of his preexisting beliefs and see the error of his ways; and Guntram and Twelam, despite coming to understand themselves better over the course of the game, have only begun laying the groundwork for the improvement of their relationship. If there's anything the game tells us, though, it's that Eddie and Fukuro's relationship has had a positive influence on the other two — they may not have fixed everything overnight, but even three days is sufficient to make changes, one that will make a difference in the others' lives forever. Really, that's a theme that runs strong in all of the character routes in Walking On A Star Unknown: There's a sense that, however brief the contact, how far away they are in the universe, or how long it will be until they see each other again, Eddie and Fukuro lit up their friends' lives just as the Langturns did their paths through Calpucca. Because of their status as aliens and their strong familial bonds, they are able to show the others that there are other ways of being, other ways of seeing. In turn, the residents of Calpucca have indelibly left a mark on the Owuls, as well.

Goodbye Strangers project update

After a somewhat lengthy hiatus from actively working on Goodbye Strangers, I've been regaining my connection with the project and its fictional world, and have decided to start working on the next site update in earnest. Which means, it's time for a general update on where things stand.

At some point last year, I started on a redesign of the site's central index and story pages, with the intention of making the content more organized and accessible. Though I had a general idea in mind for how I wanted to tackle this, it was a pretty daunting task – and coupled with health concerns, as well as various life events, and my own shyness towards sharing my work – at some point, I put the redesign aside, and took a hiatus from the website.

I've been gaining confidence in myself and my work however, and want to re-approach things in a way that aligns with my current focus and abilities. So, my intention is to start with the material that most clearly lays out the structure/metaphysics of the world/project, my own relationship with the work, as well as what I see as the "core" of the narrative (so, Default and Bracey's story threads in Space Madness, as well as details that flesh out their personalities and relationship to one another). I also want to use this as an opportunity to come out of my shell in terms of sharing work that is more vulnerable/personal, and/or more kinky/sexual; so, there will be new material that relates to myself (and how Goodbye Strangers relates to my understanding of reality), as well as new content that is NC-17/X-rated.

Once this "foundation" is established, I'll continue filling in the project/narrative by character/story thread, as I gradually integrate content from both the website's current incarnation, and previous content that has not yet been converted to the new code – such as The Known Unknowns, or the missing Module 2 entries. This will also give me a chance to organize and incorporate the extensive amounts of unfinished/unreleased content, which will be added to the site as the various sections are expanded.

Because this is something that that will take place in stages, not all of the material from the old site will be initially available. As such, the current version of the site will not be taken offline until all material has been incorporated into the new structure. At present, there is no timeline for this; as I am presently managing long-term physical and mental health conditions, I don't want to hold myself to an external schedule that causes needless stress. Nevertheless, I'm feeling optimistic about the project's future, and look forward to sharing new material.

A summary of Homestuck: Acts 2-3

by someone who keeps reading it despite warnings

Part One: Jade

I'll summarise the intro to Act 3 and then delve into the two newly introduced character's stories individually. If I write any more, my gecko head will implode.

Let's start... somewhat simple.

We get a written message from John's nanna (whose ashes fused with the kernelsprite last time) in his dad's copy of the Colonel Sassacre book, saying that he's becoming wiser and can grasp the nuance of the book. There's also a lot of stuff about a prophecy, and Timeless Expanses, and Kernelsprites, etc. After that, we get the true beginning of Act 3.....

an eepy.......... This whimsical girl's name is Jade Harley (most definitely not Farmstink according to her letter). She's got quite a bit of interests, most prominently her small garden and fauna, I think.

After proving that she is the best character with her amazing flute skills and actually doing the asinine requests the audience tells her to do, she goes upstairs to her bedroom.

She plays some bass, cooks up something for her pet and then pesters her friends for a bit (she is GG, the green text chatter from earlier in the comic). This is set sometime at the beginning of the story, as she pesters John with a birthday message.

Rose pesters her about if today is the right day to play a fun game that would help "answer some questions". Jade gives some optimistic word of advice, then hops off Pesterchum and descends to the lowest floor of her house (house? observatory?).

She encounters this thing. It is hideous and I'll leave it at that.

After getting a "troll message" (I wonder if these guys will appear later?) she scampers into the grand foyer and gets herself a rifle. For being the "cutesy" character, she knows pretty well to keep herself strapped.

After an encounter with her strict robo-granddad, she goes out on her big ol' island to find her devilbeast to feed it, with no such luck yet. She notices that the birthday package from John finally arrived near the crumbling monument. But before that, she has to get past the devilbeast itself, Becquerel!!!!!

(These battle sequences are getting real elaborate, you can tell Hussie's putting a lot more effort into these)

(We also get a song composed by Andrew Huo and a complete unknown. I wonder what he'll do later?)

After a wholesome bonding moment between Jade and her favourite beast, she goes eepy yet again and Bec takes her back to the bedroom, where she begins to dream through the power of her Dreambot.

She doesn't open this package just yet, as what she does is send the package to her past self by sending it to the Wayward Vagabond in the future, who promptly gives it to Peregrine Mendicant, who promptly sends it to Jade's past self. Wibbly wobbly indeed.

Anyway, back to present Jade. She's got a whole dream city to explore!

She encounters a dream friend, who kinda looks like Peregrine? Might be.

Afterwards, Dream Jade decides to inspect the neighbouring tower, home to Dream John Egbert, who is sleeping.

She wonders if he ever ended up getting his birthday present from her, but she better get inside before the Dream eclipse occurs (is this another world entirely or just a dream hub?)

She pesters John about the gift before a large noise occurs outside her house, which she goes to investigate but Bec stops her from doing so (deeper motivation maybe?). After that, it's revealed that Jade's gift was the one in John's dad's car which was dropped off the cliff some time ago.

(this one) John then catches up Jade on everything that's happened to him thus far (meteor blowing up his neighbourhood, can't find his dad, Rose losing battery power, etc.) Jade encounters John in the Dreamworld, then they both wake up simultaneously.

She then pesters John in the real world, saying that

GG: well..... GG: its hard to explain!!!GG: but...GG: i know what it is now!GG: and now i know everythings going to be ok!!!

Apparently she's had quite a few premonitions, and this very dream suggests she needs to go to the Mystic Ruins. Harpoon in hand, she makes her way down.

She places John's present in an exact spot and writes a letter to the future WV. The present suddenly disappearifies due to what happens in the future.

Jade leapfrogs her way to the main tower of the ruins (complete with beautiful artistic rendition by Hussie) and heads inside. On page 1148, she finds a flower timer thing that is definitely related to SBURB, watches it appearify Dave's copies of the beta, and that is where her part of the story ends for now.

Asides from her being a cryptic, Jade is such a fun character to watch. Her excited reaction watching the Tangle Buddies, her rather eccentric bedroom, and the weird cyberspace she gets into while on Pesterchum are all very good examples of 'show don't tell' instead of 'this person is very weird and whimsy'. She is showing signs of knowing more than she lets on, which will be interesting to see play out later.

Minior (#774)

Minior minior

General Information: Minior are small Pokémon that are derived from mutated nanoparticles. They are 1 foot tall (0.3 M) and with a shell on they weigh 88.2 (40 kg) pounds, but without the shell they weigh 0.7 pounds (0.3 kg).

Minior come in a variety of Core Form colors, and can come in any color in the visible light spectrum that is not produced by combining multiple wavelengths of light. This criteria is meant to specifically excludes whites, greys, blacks, magentas, and browns. Shiny Minior are black with colored triangles.

Habitat: Minior form in the stratosphere from mutated nanoparticles, and make their home in the ozone layer. They do not form anywhere else and they cannot be replicated in laboratory settings—yet! Some scientists have been working furiously to develop Miniors in the lab.

Life Cycles: Minior have a tragic but simple life cycle. They’re one of the few Pokémon that do not seem to develop proper eggs, but the atmospheric studies that do exist seem to suggest that Miniors do reproduce with each other like other Pokémon, though its uncertain how this occurs. Newly emerged Miniors eat atmospheric dust and the dust eventually forms an incredibly durable outer shell. Eventually, the shell becomes too heavy and the minior falls to the Earth. The shock of the impact cracks open their shell, exposing their core—the color of which is determined by the dust that they ate in the upper atmosphere. Unfortunately, once a Minior is exposed, it will almost certainly die, for Miniors cannot have their core exposed for too long. The longest recorded lifespan of a wild exposed  Minior is 10 hours, but realistically they will die within 4 hours after exposure. However, trainers have been able to preserve Minior lives by placing them into a Pokéball and protecting their core, before their lifespan is up.

In the stratosphere, Minior make a great food source for other stratospheric Pokémon such as Rayquaza.

It is unknown how long Miniors can live for as its incredibly difficult to track wild Miniors, but in captivity they have been able to live for several years past their original crash-landing to Earth. Please be aware though, that keeping Miniors in Pokeballs is effectively giving them life support, and Miniors cannot be outside their Pokéball for more than a couple hours at a time per day when exposed from their shell. It is actively and strongly advised not to allow Miniors to participate in battle except under limited circumstances. In fact, the only settings where scientists have figured out how to preserve exposed Miniors is under strict laboratory settings that are impossible to replicate out of expensive science facilities—but this does give hope for the future of captive Minior populations, and possibly our understanding of life in the cosmos.

Behavior: Minior are friendly and curious. They are prepared to have short lifespans once they fall to the earth, they are fairly optimistic sorts who enjoy the limited life that they have. Those who have granted them longer lifespans by placing them inside Pokeballs, find their Minior friend to be highly curious, if a bit startled at being able to exist (albeit in a limited capacity) on Earth for so long. Since their main predator are Rayquazas and other upper atmosphere creatures, they don’t have a lot of natural fears toward the Pokémon on land, so get along just fine. If you’re willing to keep very good care of a Minior, then they can make a nice household pet. Granted, Miniors in their Core Form aren’t terribly exciting, but they are listening to what’s going on and even respond! In fact, many trainers with Miniors find that they’re fans of audio experiences, and perhaps letting them listen to music or a good book is a good way to keep them entertained when they’re inside their shell. It’s like having a pet rock, but it’s self-aware and can squeak at you.  

Diet: Dust. They literally just eat dust. If you have a dust allergy, a Minior might be a great solution!

Conservation: Unknown

Relationship with Humans: Miniors are the subject of many tragedies and nature documentaries. Their lives are perfect to encapsulate the mystery of the cosmos or a strange, mysterious friend who enters your life for a brief period but has to leave you forever, and so forth. Quite a number of sad children’s books use Miniors as the go-to Pokémon for the tragic friendships and the terminally ill. In fact, Miniors are often representative of the terminally ill community, or by folks with illnesses that could kill them any day if they do the wrong thing. Miniors are surprisingly common in cancer wards, generally owned by a handful of the staff who keep company to those who may not have anyone else who understands the fears and anxieties that they have toward death. But despite their symbolism with tragic deaths and short lives and terminal illness, Miniors are still beloved for what they are and the joy that they can bring with them in their short existence.

Classification: Minior is the only Pokémon species in its entire phylum of the Family Tree of Evolution (as of Gen 9). Because of this, it defines what it means to be in its phylum, and thus it has the species name Minior minior.

No Linear Paths (NLP) ❔ They/It Local Group: 🟣 Status: [UNKNOWN]

They hardly knew anyone and that’s how they wanted to keep it. Paths wasn’t shy per se but wanted to keep their distance. The oldest in their local group and one of the first iterators to be made they were often asked many questions by younger iterators. However, most wouldn’t get much more of a response than a “yes” “no” or “I don’t have time for this”. 

When the ancients disappeared Paths was unsure what to do with themselves. Not wanting to talk to anyone and no longer having a purpose to serve they quietly retreated into themselves. Their local group has tried to see if they are okay but have gotten no response.

Flesh Of The Innocent (FOTI) ✔️ He/They/It Local Group: 🟣 Status: [ALIVE] Flesh is about as old as iterators get. After discovering how much data their supercomputers were putting out, the ancients decided to build another supercomputer to store and catalog all of that data. Because of this Flesh’s structure is full of pearls with a wide range of information. Iterators from all different local groups will contact him to get access to his files- and he is happy to share. 

Long after the ancients had died off, Flesh continued to catalog for the sake of something to do. However, one day he came across an interesting pearl he’d never seen before- one by the late Lost In The Dark. After reading the pearl his systems were completely taken over by what he could only assume was a virus. It caused about 90% of his structure to start iterating without his command- starting projects he did not authorize. Unable to stop it he is left completely disconnected from his structure beside his puppet.

Lost In The Dark (LITD) ❌ She/He/They Local Group: 🟣 Status: [DEACTIVATED]

A young and bright iterator, Lost was one of the most determined to find the solution. She was extremely interested in the use of gravity and compressing it enough to make small black holes. Her curiosity and determination to discover the solution quickly turned to obsession, however, and soon she turned to taboo means.

She became fascinated with body modification of her structure, hoping that it would increase her effectiveness. Fearful of her, the ancients shut her down, leaving her to be the first (and last?) iterator to be killed by ancient hands. She is now somewhat of a ghost story amongst younger iterators. 

Mockery's Voice (MV) ❌ He/Him Local Group: 🟣 Status: [ALIVE] [IMPORTANT: work in progress] All Mockery want's to do is be the hero of this sad story. To find the solution as his ancients instructed so he can save those he loves from the rotting that awaits them. He's bright and full of excitement for the future to come! A true Shonen protagonist! Forgotten Paradise (FPD) ❔ She/Her Local Group: 🟣 Status: [ALIVE] [IMPORTANT: work in progress] Her ancients loved her for her beauty. A goddess amongst them. Because of this Paradise never truly felt she could be herself. Living up to the arbitrary standards of goddess-hood her city put on her caused her intense anxiety and bouts of anger. Once they disappeared she vowed to live the rest of her cycles as herself.

Nothing Well-Made (NWM) ✔️ He/They Local Group: 🔵 Status: [ALIVE] Nothing was one of the last interators ever made, barely meeting his creators before they mysteriously vanished. He was created to study and observe plants; because of this, he has become quite fond of them. His entire structure is covered head to leg in his floral specimens. 

He is timid and easily made upset, yet Nothing is very optimistic that the solution is still out there. Though he doesn’t think his plant research will help much.

Happy birthday KEKE ROSBERG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (06/12/1948) ⚡

Keijo Erik Rosberg, commonly known as 'Keke', was born in Solna, a city near Stockholm. Keke happened to be born in Sweden because his father Lars, after the Second World War, moved there to study Veterinary medicine, which at the time, wasn't a subject taught in Finnish universities. There he met Lea, whom also was from Finland, and that later he would end up marrying. Keke has two younger sisters: Seija and Jaana, both born once the family got back in Finland.

Motorsport seemed to run in the family's blood: both Lars and Lea were actively enganged in racing, especially Lars, who participated various times in the Finnish rally and later in the Monte Carlo one. Needless to say, that sparked the interest of young Keke in to racing. Like many others, the young Finn started racing with karts and was assisted by his father whom essentialy became his mechanic; in his first season Keke proved immediately his talent by gaining the third place in the Finnish Karting Championship. The following year, he would go and win the Nordic championship and the Finnish one, which he'll end up winning the following year too. In 1968 he also started competing in Sweden and, for the first time, in Europe; unfortunately he had to start his military service and put on a halt his racing career. Soon afterwards Keke kept racing in Europe (central Europe in particular) and, after failing his dentistry exam for the second time, he started working at Nokia Electronics as a programmer. Till this moment Keke thought about racing as just an hobby, nothing more, but his achivements will make him think about his future. It took a collegue to convince him to start racing in the Formula Vee Championship, that he'll win in 1974, before moving to, and winning, the Super Vee Championship in '75. After gaining so many successful results, the Finn had his debut in Formula 2 and 3 at the same time, and also started racing in the Formula Pacific and in the Formula Atlantic, where he would race against, the still unknown, Gilles Villeneuve. In 1977, during his second season in F2, Keke was able to test a Formula 1 car for the Japanese team Kojima, which intended to enter the car at the Brazilian GP that very same year, but unfortunately, the team didn't participate at the GP. Yet Keke's chance to enter the world of F1 would come quite soon.

That chance came from the relatively new Theodore Racing team, which was looking forward to enter their car in F1 at the beginning of the '78 F1 season, and saw a big potential in the Finnish driver, infact Keke made his debut in Formula 1 at the South African GP, yet his debut wasn't that optimistic: he ended up retiring early from the race due to a fuel leak. During the season he would drive for the German team ATS, with whom he would win a non-Championship race, which was the only positive result from that year. For the '79 season the Finn didn't have a seat, so he kept racing in F2, and occasionally, took part in a few Can-Am races driving for Paul Newman's team. But eventually a second chance presented itself: in light of James Hunt leaving the Wolf racing team in the middle of he season, the Canadian team hired Keke for the rest of the year. Due to the unstable pace of the Wolf WR7, he preferred to join the Fittipaldi team, along world champion Emerson Fittipaldi. With the team he stayed for only two seasons, the car turned out to be extremely unreliable, and eventually led to two consecutive disappointing seasons. With the news of Alan Jones leaving the Williams team, in 1982 Keke joined the british team, but not with high hopes, due to the fact that the car didn't have a turbo engine, and automatically was thought to be out of the contention for the F1 title. Yet to everybody's surprise the Finn demostrated to be quite competitive at the wheel of his Williams FW08. In the span of one season he managed to score his first pole position, be the first Finnish driver to lead the F1 Championship, score his first victory at the Swiss GP and winning his first and only Championship. Despite the various retirments, and tragedy-filled season, with Gilles Villeneuve and Riccardo Paletti's passing and Didier Pironi's almost fatal accident, the Finn managed to score points in almost every race, earning him the coveted title. But if the '82 season had been extremely positive and rewarding, his following 3 seasons at Williams weren't as much as that. Williams slowly begun its decline: the pace of the cars didn't improve during the mid 80s, and also its reliabilty got worse, so much worse that Keke during the '84 season, retired from 8 of 16 races. That's what forced the Finn after the '85 season to move to McLaren, joining in team Alain Prost, in what will turn out to be the Finn's last season. The McLaren didn't suit his driving style and overall his season wasn't that great, it was also signed by the tragic death of Keke's dear friend, and fellow F1 driver, Elio De Angelis, which all made everything easier for him to leave Formula 1.

Once he left behind the world of Formula 1, Keke kept getting involved in various motorsport events like the 24 Hours of Spa and Le Mans, DTM and later took part in a few editions of the Arctic Lapland Rally.

Known to be very passionate about economy, he often managed his own negotiations with sponsors. After retiring from motorsport he managed finnish drivers like JJ Lehto, future World Champion Mika Häkkinen and his son Nico Rosberg.

Often wrapped in a cloud of smoke, the Finnish driver is known for his strong, honest and witty personality, which was perfectly reflected in his aggressive driving style, that wasn't so kind on the machinery. Yet he's endwoned of great car control, that particularly stood out in the worst weather conditions.
