STUDIO CITY, CA – January 10, 2023 – Autumn Reeser (“Entourage,” “The O.C.”), Paolo Bernardini (“Lost and Found in Rome”), Alison Sweeney (“Days of our Lives”) and Lacey Chabert (Mean Girls) return in “The Wedding Veil Inspiration,” a new, original movie premiering January 14, 2023 (8 p.m. ET/PT) on Hallmark Channel, as part of the network’s “New Year, New Movies” programming event. Kacey Rohl (“The Magicians”) and Carlo Marks (“Chesapeake Shores”) also star.

In the second movie of this sequel trilogy, Emma (Reeser) is sticking to her five year plan, as Paolo (Bernardini) prepares to open a lace shop in Chicago with his cousin Matteo (Marks). On track to assume a promotion to department chair, Emma feels strongly that things fall into place before she and Paolo can consider growing their family. However, Paolo worries that that day may never come. When a crisis at home calls Paolo back to Italy, the couple must navigate busy schedules to make time for each other from afar. Missing Paolo, Emma bumps heads with Nancy (Lynda Boyd, “Virgin River”), the current chair of her department and begins to question her life choices. Thankfully, she has frequent calls, texts and visits with Tracy (Sweeney) and Avery (Chabert), who seem to know her better than she knows herself. She also has a friend in her smart and quirky teacher’s aide, Lily (Rohl), who provides Emma with a novel opportunity to get people excited about art, but it might mean giving up everything she’s worked for. Meanwhile, Emma cannot help but notice a spark between Lily and Matteo – who both happened to be touching the veil when they met. As Emma tries to get Lily to trust her heart, she must find the courage to stop planning her own dream life and start living it.

“The Wedding Veil Inspiration” is from Veil Road V Productions and Front Street Pictures. Beth Grossbard, Lisa Demberg, Autumn Reeser and Harvey Kahn are executive producers. Allen Lewis is supervising producer and Charles Cooper is producer. Terry Ingram directed from a script by Betsy Morris, inspired by the book There Goes the Bride by Lori Wilde.

A few months after Avery’s (Lacey Chabert) wedding, Chicago-based professor Emma (Autumn Reeser) travels to Italy to teach the history of American art. While there, she uses her free time to research the provenance of the veil, which leads her to the colorful island town of Burano, famed for its exquisitely handcrafted lace. On her way to the island she encounters a handsome man (Paolo Bernardini) who offers help but Emma – still processing the end of a long-distance relationship – declines. Her search leads to the oldest shop on the island, where the owner responds exuberantly to the veil. Emma doesn’t understand Italian but thankfully, the man she met earlier shows up and can translate. She learns his name is Paolo and his grandmother is the shop owner. He explains that the veil shares a special connection to his family, who had thought it destroyed. Paolo and Emma decide to work together to unravel the century-old mystery of how the long-lost veil made its way from Italy to a shop in San Francisco. As they spend time together and Paolo helps Emma to let go and embrace the beauty of Italy, they begin falling for each other. As Emma prepares to return to Chicago, she isn’t sure she can handle another long-distance relationship, but the veil and its legend may have other plans.

Here we are with installment #2 of 3 of the Wedding Veil Series! 

I have to start with talking about the star of this movie...Italy. The sights and locations on this movie was truly stunning. I’ve personally always wanted to go to Italy so having this movie set there was just icing on the cake for me. In terms of the story, I thought it did a great job of continuing the overall plot while still making it a stand alone movie. As far as the leading characters, they both were pretty standard for Hallmark and one’s we’ve seen many times before but I didn’t mind it. I did enjoy seeing more of Emma’s view when it came to art. We got to Avery’s in the first movie and it was cool diving deeper into Emma’s world of it. It was nice having the bit of history behind the veil actually interesting rather then turning into some boring history lesson. As far as the actors, I was excited for this pairing. Autumn is always some I enjoy so I’m always delighted to see her. Paolo is a fresh face which we all know is exciting. He is truly the total package when it comes a Hallmark leading man. He’s good-looking, charming, natural and that accent certainly does not hurt to listen to too. I know I say this for most, if not all, newbies but I really hope to see more of him on the network. In terms of them as a pairing, I thought Autumn and Paolo were wonderful together. They had a very sweet ease to their chemistry. It was fun to watch them. Overall it was a lovely movie and I can’t wait to see what the final installment has in store for us. 

Rating: 3 - While I gave the first movie the same rating, this one is easily my favorite between the 2 so far.
