Happy Storyteller Saturday! What's your method to writing so much? (Tell me the secret hnghhhhh I always have such a low word count) - @fruzsiwrites
@fruzsiwrites !! is this a general question or specific for me / people who write a lot? because i don't feel like i write a whole ton, but i guess it might seem that way from my posts lmaooo. anyway....
HOW TO WRITE A LOT
the idea of "a lot of words" can differ from person to person, but for me it's more than 1.5k words in one day. my average is about 1000, so that might give you an idea on your goal.
but how do you end up writing a lot? well...
1. be motivated
it's true that nobody is always motivated, but it certainly helps with writing a lot! there are a lot of ways you can be motivated, but here are a few i thought of.
talk about your wip with others! your friends, your mutuals, rant about it in a post! whatever it is, it's definitely going to get you excited to continue to work on it.
create moodboards and aesthetics! don't forget about actually writing, though.
edit the previous parts of that WIP! it's a little strange, yes, but it definitely helped me when my motivation was 0.
art, if you do that?
2. get into the groove
it's kind of similar to being motivated, but there are some slight differences.
i'm not talking about the actual writing part, but more the preparation. by that i mean: playing (instrumental) music, grabbing some snacks, water, whatever you need to be able to write for a while! it also helps with motivation.
this can prevent you from pausing your session to grab something to eat, which obviously isn't a good thing. you might become distracted, or you might just forget about writing altogether. and plus, you'll probably lose at least some of your motivation to write for that session!
so - prepare, and get into the groove!
3. set your schedule and make goals
let's face it: writing is a task. it's exhausting, it takes up a lot of time, and there's not much payoff until the end. that's why we need to set our schedule for writing!
everyone writes for a different amount of time, but we can all agree that it's painstakingly slow. i don't need to worry much about a schedule, as i'm still in school. i come home in the afternoon, finish my homework, chill for a bit, and start writing! this gives me at least a few hours to write, if i want to.
but for people with busy schedules, finding the time to write can be very difficult! so, if you're working on something you want to finish quickly, i suggest setting aside at least two hours to write, twice a week. this way, you'll grow at a steady pace!
and goals - listen, everyone needs goals to be motivated. maybe this session you want to finish this scene, or reach a certain number of words!
don't deprive yourself of something until you finish, though. rather, reward yourself when you're done!
and finally...
4. just write!
i know, i know, it's over said, people get it, whatever. but i think the real trick is to just focus on writing, not editing. which can be very hard - i fall into editing all the time!
it's the first draft - it doesn't need to be perfect, by any means. so don't edit.
just write.
as always, be sure to take this with a grain of salt, and feel free to add on to the list!

you've rb a few pro-hong kong protester posts, and i was wondering if it would be okay to ask about your current standing on the situation? i don't think i understand what's happening fully or in depth, because i've been outside of china for most of my life, but what i've seen from most of the news organisations and sources of information i've been able to find, is that the extradition bill isn't happening, but the protests are still ongoing. please feel free not to respond though!
this may be a bit insensitive, but... to be frank, there isn't much i know about it other than what i've seen from social media (which yes, i know isn't the best way to receive news but there are videos and photos). i live, and have lived my whole life, in Canada, far away from China.
while it is supposedly true that the bill isn't being passed, there must be a reason the protests are still ongoing.
but the news isn't talking about it much, from what i've seen, and there are even some that are saying not to discuss it at all.
so, i don't know as much as i'd like. but i do know that there are people who are hurting, and i want to bring awareness to that in any way i can! (i talk to my friends and family about it as well)

happy sts, sophie!! do you have any theme songs for your WIP or characters? why does this song suit them so much?
Hello and thank you for the lovely question! :) I don’t actually have too many songs that give me the right vibes because I’m picky… But here are a few for WIP and characters, but without any context ;)
2WEI ft. Edda Hayes - Warriors (Imagine Dragons Cover)
Lenise Morales X Generdyn - Come Out
Faouzia - Bad Dreams
Ruelle ft. Fleurie - Carry You
Hidden Citizens- Here I Am (The Boxer Rebellion Cover)
And 4 instrumental songs that somehow made me think of The Dawbringer from the moment I first heard them:
Phil Rey Gibbons - Insanus Mundum (feat. Felicia Farerre)
Krale - Endless Bonds and Broken Promises
Secession Studios - One Hundred Strings
Tristan Barton - Eris’s Debt
I mostly listen to instrumental songs anyway, so there are way more actually :)

Seth. He’s been alive for literally millennia, and there’s so many unplumbed depths there I can’t even begin to explore it all. :D

Hey! It feels kinda weird asking this lol but do you have any thoughts/tips/advice for what to post as a writeblr? I'm kinda in a stump rn and don't know what to post to remain an active blog so I'm mainly running on queue rn but i want to put out original content but don't really have an idea of what to put out...? It's kinda a lot, sorry!
ahhh don't worry about it!! though, i may be he wrong person to ask because i don't post much original content... sksjdjfjsjs oops-
but here are a few things i thought of!
what could your blog be comprised of? and other tips
excerpts from your WIPs, of course! they're usually extra effective with an aesthetic or moodboard, and i like to keep them under 500 words for ease of reading. any longer and it can be pretty difficult for people to read. using the under the cut setting is important too!
i said this in the previous point but aesthetics! moodboards, art if you do that, etc.
worldbuilding facts, maybe a map or a bio of an area!
character bios, but i'm sure you've already done that
quizzes, picrews, and bingos because those are all the rage right now
something i like doing is just,,, an informal text post with a little update on your wip. like an idea you randomly had (ex: I KNOW EXACTLY WHERE TO ADD ____ AND HERE IT IS). they're pretty fun and can also spark conversation
if you're on the first draft for writing anything you could do a 'WIP Progress' type deal like i did, counting the word count, number of hours, and favourite line for that day!
when you do put things on queue i think it's important to have them post often, but not to often! i stick to five posts a day in queue but that's just me.
reblogging other people's stuff is important tooo!! tbh reblogs are 95% of my blog lmao. and i don't usually leave much of a comment on other people's works (IM SORRY IM JUST A LITTLE BOY WITH LITTLE ENERGY) but i reblog anyway!
anyway i hope this helps~

happy sts!! :D who is your favourite character to write and why? your least favourite?
I talked about my favorite character to write here: xx
I don’t really have a least favorite. I guess I would have to say Caspian, Megan and Morgana, not because I don’t like them, I actually really like them as characters and I would love Megan and Caspian if I knew them in real life, but I find them harder to write because of their plot points.
Sorry for answering this late!

What are your characters' Achilles Heels? (greatest flaws) | Are your characters based on anybody in real life, whether it be someone you know personally or a celebrity? | Where did you get inspiration for your story?
My Character’s Achilles Heels:
Nate: He’s a sucker for someone in need, to the point of sacrificing himself.
Cooper: Panic Action. He’ll go to extremes to bring life back into balance
Audry: Her faith in humanity despite all the tragedy she’s seen.
Nate is based on a conglomeration of people, including Stiles from Teenwolf, Sherlock Holmes, and Eureka’s Zane Donovan (i did not realize they shared a surname until much later). Cooper is based on a character I created when I was 15, whose name was Conner, and who didn’t start with any celebrity basis.
Audry didn’t have a celebrity basis either, but I just watched The Order and Alyssa comes reall close to looking exactly how I imagined her.
The inspiration for The Donovan Chronicles started with a combination of a few things. The first was my desire to have more gay crime fiction and queer noir. The second was my own internal running commentary about the financial and governmental systems of America. Then came the conversation around North Korea and their limits during the Olympics.  Also every OTP I’ve ever had inspires me to write Nate/Cooper.

🧡 (what were previous working titles/ideas?) and 💝 (who has your favorite character arc? give a brief summary) for DMPTD?
🧡 (what were previous working titles/ideas?)
lol dmptd started off in 1800s france! the original title for it was lazarus, after the biblical character. the story was pretty much the same, though. i came up with the general idea and then kind of abandoned it for a while, and then i came back to it and completely redid the whole thing! i teetered between dead men pay their debts and a dead man’s debts but finally decided that the first one just sounded better!!
💝 (who has your favorite character arc? give a brief summary)
tbh, this is a hard question because i really love how everyone turned out! jesse’s arc, casey’s arc, sierra’s arc....all of them!!
