Okay but what if the reason that Thalia made Annabeth earn her trust and love when they first met is because she doesn’t want to be let down and lose another little sibling? And when she realized that Annabeth could take care of herself, on some level, and wasn’t just a helpless two year old like Jason was, that’s when she accepted Annabeth?

I got to watch episode 4! Very happy with this episode as a whole even if not a huge fan of certain choices. Kept track of my reactions as I went in notes app and they’re below the cut.
I love baby Percy. However not a big fan of Sally in this scene. I get that she’s allowed to be frustrated but I don’t think she would hold the fact they paid for the lesson over Percy’s head.
Every time I hear forbidden kid all I can think of is CaffeinatedFlumadiddle’s Son of Sea Foam.
“I gotta earn it with you too” Damn I love them so much.
“It isn’t supposed to work that way.” I love baby Percy’s radicalization. You’re right you don’t deserve to be treated like that. “Pay your Child support” Percy has been here since the beginning.
“It’s everybody.“ oh poor baby Annabeth. I knew the backstory but framing it as her not being a gift hurt a lot.
HELL YEAH!!! PAN MENTION!!! I have been waiting for this since the season started. I’m an unproportionately excited about this.
The police officer scenes made me way too apprehensive. I’m so much more worried about them now given casting.
I am so confused by Echidnas earlier entrance. It feels less cinematic to meet her on the train versus the arch. There’s no element of surprise either. What was a cute moment of character growth as they visited somewhere Annabeth always wanted to go as they waited. It would be stupid to retreat to the Arch now.
“This has always been a family story” I want this overlaid on all the gifsets.
They’re really playing into the later themes where the demigods are monsters. Like I thought Percy really only starting to feel that way in Tartarus when faced with Bob. He might have felt bad about being a hero and trying to prove he was nothing like Hercules in TTC but it wasn’t an overarching demigods are the monsters mindset.
Really glad the Chimera didn’t appear as a service dog. Cute little puppy wandering down the corridor is perfect.
Oh so the Arch is a temple. I’m glad they have a reason to go there. I was worried they would go there despite being hunted.
Ugh I’m not a fan of how Athena blames Annabeth for the head.
Fuck Percy’s going to jump into the river thinking that he’s going to die. Sure he might pray but he won’t believe it.
Annabeth was going to sacrifice herself like Thalia. She wasn’t going to let a forbidden kid die for her again (and you know she was the one in best fighting shape)
The water grabbing him was so cool. I loved being able to see the concrete below him and then the water reached out for him. “He’s here and he’s so very proud” God I’m going to cry.
This tv show is very pro Poseidon. Like yeah it’s largely anti-gods but the comparison between Athena and Poseidon this episode had him way on top. Athena was essentially going to let her daughter be killed (which actually lines up with her treatment of Annabeth in MOA, just sending countless of her children to die on an impossible quest and treating it like an honor). Percy talks about not even wanting to pray to his dad and his dad saves him anyway. (Yes I realize last episode had the Medusa stuff but feel like that was less impactful after she tried to kill them.)
Really wish we had the reunion this episode but oh well guess I have to wait for next week.

PJO (TV) S1E4 -- little things I like
Little Percy told his mommy to breathe... little angel...
I like what Annabeth said about the clear rules with gods. It really is easier with rules sometimes. It's just that maybe the gods aren't as fair and just as we expected. The gods aren't that different from the humans.
" He's sUpeR gRouChy wHen he dOesn'T gEt eNouGh... nah!" Grover is so precious <33
" Follow-up stupid question," that wasn't stupid Percy
Grover really was perceptive, spotting the glass shreds at once. I love how they showed his strength. He wasn't upfront and he didn't talk much, instead he saw a lot.
Like the little detail when they were running in the train, Annabeth thought quickly and used the chain to block the door, whereas Grover immediately checked on Percy's would when they had a break. Just a nice little touch on different characteristics.
" Be right down, just going to the potty" Percy's adorable ~
I know it's a serious situation but the scene of two kids desperately pouring water on the other kid was SO FUNNY. ahhh I can't. They're really just kids!
I hope in the tv show they will stick to the "only natural running water can give Percy power" setting. Makes more sense.

PJO S1E4:
Omg, I forgot he sent the head to Olympus.
There's something really funny about the son of Poseidon being afraid of water when he was a boy. But also, I love how Sally was telling him how important he was, without telling him it's because he's a half-blood and Poseidon's son.
Leave him alone, Kronos.
"People who are close to you aren't supposed to treat you that way." 😭
My heart goes out to Annabeth. For feeling the need to leave because her stepmother didn't like her.
CENTAURS!
Also, the chemistry between Percy and Annabeth is insane.
This is the lady with the dog Chimaera, isn't it.
Yep. Echidna. She's definitely bad. Either she or her Chimaera smashed in that window.
I can't believe the cops left them all alone with her. Oh, nvm, they were still there. I wonder what they heard?
The awkward moment of watching a random tiny dog run by. (The awkward moment of knowing it's also not an actual dog).
Kinda surreal seeing the temple on screen.
Grover looking at all the buffalo and Native American stuff and thinking about how the centaurs were affected by human expansion 😭
"Careful. I think you were about to call me a friend." I love them so much.
Echidna and her pet utterly destroying traffic.
Medusa's head coming back to bite them in the butt.
Percy refusing to leave Annabeth even while he's potentially dying 😭
Holy shit, he tricked her 😭🤣 Not Percy making them go because they're his friends and he's already dying anyway 😭
That Chimaera is beautiful.....why are the evil things always beautiful.
That was a lucky catch.
GG Poseidon.
"Your father is here. He's always been here. [...] But he's here. And he's so very proud." Even if he's still dubious of him after this, Percy needed to hear that.
Fuck, the episode's over.

PJO (TV) S1E4
I hope the episode was longer, but it was the most exciting episode so far and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
I liked that the reason they went to the arch wasn't an impromptu tourism but to seek sanctuary. It made so much more sense. Annabeth was really competent here.
The depiction of Annabeth's faith in Athena from the last episode to this was very nice, and the budding doubt. I related to her. It's much easier when there is a clear rule for you to follow, even if following it is hard. I had my issue with Annabeth but the show reminded me that I actually quite liked her in the early book ~~
I also liked that there was a consequence for sending Medusa's head to the gods. Like, there are reasons why people don't do certain things. Annabeth's hurt and guilt were heartbreaking though. It connected nicely to when she and Percy both attempted to sacrifice themselves for the others (Percy was the one who did it after all). Then PERCY TRICKED ANNABETH! Oh god I love it so much. Didn't see it coming even though I saw the trailer. The sequence was very nicely done.
And the ending! WATER DRAGGED PERCY TO THE RIVER! Beautiful ~~
