Wish Dragon is one of my favorite movies. this very saccharine/sentimental goofy animated movie. Non-exhaustive list incoming.

I love:

it's sense of humor. (the villain that refuses to take his hands out of his pockets KILLS ME its such a good visual gag)

the animation. this one is deceptive because the art style is fairly simple and flat, BUT the way it is animated and moves is delightful. Long is an excellent example of this

the protagonist's severe head-in-the-clouds mentality. he is detached from reality and prioritizes what's in his heart over everything else. it's both really relatable and charming.

the way it avoids leaning into romance and focuses on friendship instead. it gives weight to how powerful and important meaningful friendships and connections are at their core, despite society usually reserving that importance only to romantic connections.

the way that it's portrayed that societal pressures & expectations are what interferes with people connecting with each other naturally. the pressure to perform well, study hard, make money, be seen as respectable. even the expectation that the protagonist is only after romantic love/wants to date the girl ends up butting heads with what he actually wants

how Long's friendship with Din is as impactful as Lina's by the movie's end. it's a well-developed layer to the movie.

how the story centers around growing up after high school. stories with hs-ers are overdone to death and as a young adult this detail made it all the more relatable.

how my first watching of the movie made me cry multiple times. both from the super cute+sweet opening, and the more dramatic emotional beats

how the movie somehow made a surprisingly painless and actually good liar-reveal.

the "endless sky" song is so sweet. credits song too.

how unapologetically whimsical and silly and warmhearted the whole thing is. it feels genuine at its core.

i dont love making AUs, but the logistics of my fankid OCs existing have forced me to at least vaguely think about one. part of the reason i made this alternate outfit for blaze

was because i think she'd rework the sol empire's system to no longer be a monarchy, and instead share the responsibility of ruling. She still helps out but is far less burdened, and she doesn't have to worry about passing on her royal burdens to her kids.

as for the two eggmen, maybe sonic and blaze kill one of them to know peace lmao idc. sonic would be cocky enough to keep fighting one and always winning tho so maybe original eggman can stay.

basically the AU's purpose is so they can get married and raise a chill family and it would be relatively plausible yknow 👍👍 they'd also have to be able to dimension hop freely, no drama.

Hello all! I wanted to bring up an important change about this blog. I'm going to be sharing more 'mature' artwork here in the future.

Nothing I've got atm is hardcore or anything, but I want to respect the fact that my range of interests often draws in a more child-friendly crowd, and not have things be a surprise.

I plan to make use of some of these warning tags, that you can filter out thru tumblr settings:

"tw blood" - if it's even remotely not-cartoony, i'll tag it

"suggestive" - if it's anything steamier than a polite kiss

"tw death" - if involves death or is about death

"tw animal death" - ^

"tw suicidal ideation" - if including the concept of wanting death

"tw self harm" - kind of a catch-all for the topic

"violence" - not sure how i'm gonna use this yet, it may be a catch-all

ones I may use in the future:

"tw gore"

"tw suicide"

"nudity"

"nsfw"

If any of these topics bother you, please filter them out! Or if you wanna unfollow, I get it. Don't sweat it.

I will probably also use the mature filter system for tumblr just in case, see how it feels. I'm aiming to err on the side of caution here. I will be adding this info to my description and/or pinned post and try and keep it updated on what I'm tagging.

looking back at my SRA2 plotline it was criminal that i chose to use Tails as a supporting character instead of Cream. why have a tech-savvy plot device when i could have Marine and Cream interactions.

My Top Favorite Drawings from 2023:

"I shouldn't be here!" I put my heart and soul in this one. i am the cartoon dino. i don't know why i'm here or what i'm doing.

2. "Do you only know how to run?" the color palette, the imagery with the landscape shaped to a heartrate monitor, the way this was extrapolated from my real-life worries and the way fear can become overwhelming when playing a survival sim game. it's a comic from the heart.

3. "Let's stay here a while." another labor of love, to capture something sweet. i'll overlook it's flaws for the sentimental value it holds. in this i see a dream of peace.

4. "two snarky robots". this one turned out cleeeeaaaan. the character interaction is everything i wanted, very amusing.

5. "no brain no brawn". 1st digital thing i drew in 2023 and i just love the energy in it. i see anger threatening tears in the eyes as the pachy is scrambling after seemingly being knocked down. a lot of the same ideas/themes as the #1 drawing, and 100% inspired it.

6. Redraw of that one SA2 art, you know the one, with my oc Trench, and Blaze. i love how the lineweights and colors came thru for it being traditional art.

7. "Sonic Rush Adventure 2 minicomic"(page 3). Even if i didn't finish my very short comic, i reached the moment that inspired the whole thing. the "copy-cat" callout and ensuing interaction. and i've got my OC looking rather professional in not one but TWO fullbody shots here!

8. "Sona". i don't think i've ever put such nice detail and color into my fursona before, and the face shape seems so well constructed. normally my art construction tends to be very loose and result in faces sliding off of heads and such

9. "Between a rock and a bunch of hungry carnivores". the cartoonism combined with the 'perspective' and lineweights and visual story of this one delight me.

10. "they're just really cute, okay?" yes i had a bit of a year shipping these two lol. i love how relaxed and joyful they both look here, and the way they overlap and lean into each other despite the toonishly giant hands and shoes. the uncharacteristically large smile on blaze. it's good fluff.

11. "Anger". it's all in the emotion and the colors and shapes. i can feel the burst of heat and the white-hot rage i wanted to capture.
