Now let it be said that not a single one of their team (“Does it count as a team if it’s just the three of us?” “Um, what about the Superman clone here??” “Four was the same number of the original League, so yeah we’re a team!”) were expecting to stumble across much of anything deeper in the Cadmus Labs. 

They’d already discovered- and released- the super secret super-boy clone after all, so that was the big thing discovered and taken care of! Only they had uh, found something else, another tube even deeper with the room practically frozen, while trying to find the way out. 

Now normally, opening the big tube would be a bad idea! But they had a bunch of creatures and security and whoever else on their tails, and hey, why not fight fire with fire and escape while everything was distracted? 

Only when things start to defrost they- the sidekicks who are not sidekicks thanks- are really alarmed and starting to worry about what the fuck is inside. Because the cryogenic-liquid-whatever tube is way bigger than they thought, and the files that Robin hacked refers to whatever is inside as a quote, potentially world-ending dangerous entity. 

And it’s not even fully defrosted before it starts to break free. One clawed hand- and then another, and another and another- grip onto the broken material, green dripping from where tubes were shrugged free. Its hair shifts and weaves in the air as though underwater, opalescent and each strand shimmering a different color. 

It’s absolutely massive, humanoid with long tapered ears and a cacophony of differently shaped horns floating above its head. They’re wary, suddenly remembering every single lecture about dangerous unknowns as it shakes the liquid from a body that appears almost scaled, eight arms easily lifting itself so that it may step out. 

They’re also suddenly reminded of the danger they’re in from other things when there’s a crash against the door, like one of those gynomorph tank things had slammed against it. It also causes the being’s head to snap up from where they were seemingly watching the liquid pool beneath them, nine eyes opening from their previously half-lidded position. 

A deep rumbling noise echoed around the room as it stopped slouching, showing just how tall it was while three tails lashed in what was obviously some sort of agitation. When they speak, it’s not in any language the three of them know, but Superboy’s head snaps from the door towards them, eyes suddenly wide in child-like wonder.

how do you clone a fey? that's trick question; and fey love those!

@the-navistar-carol (<333) brought up a good point while I was talking about my changeling danny au with her -- Dani! How would she exist in this au? Danny's a changeling - a fae. How would Dani, a clone of him, be created? How do you make a fey? Not through any means that Vlad is doing; you can't make a fey through unnatural means, considering the Fair Folk are nature. And Vlad's not a fey himself -- he's a halfa, even if he could make a fey, it's not in his best interest too. He's a powerful ghost, but even the weakest fae can overpower the strongest ghost. He won't want a clone of Daniel to be more powerful than him.

(In a three tier hierarchy it goes Ancients -> Fae/Mythos -> Ghosts. They all live in the Infinite Realms, but on different Planes. The fae live above the Ghost Zone in the Fey Wild, while the Mythos live beside the Wilds or down in the ghost zone depending on where they are. Places like the Frozone, the Athens Acropolis, and other such large islands climb throughout all three Planes.)

(While Ghosts can travel into the Fey Wild, its generally advised against as the ectoplasm tends to manifest differently there due to close contact magic. It can make it rather disorientating for a ghost, and as human spirits, the Fae living there would jump them faster than they could blink. So unless you're willing to play mind games with 'steal thy name eat thy face' fae, most ghosts keep out of the way of the Wilds. Fey can travel down into the Ghost Zone, they just don't bother.)

That's of course, not taking into account if Vlad even knows Danny's a fae himself. Vlad doesn't ring me as someone who really cares much about ghost culture or the going ons of the GZ. He might be aware that fae exist, but the moment he realizes he can't use them for personal gain he just doesn't bother with them. The risk is greater than the reward, and he'd rather not get eaten. But lets assume he's aware by now that Danny is fey, and has to take that into account while cloning him.

So, how does Dani exist? Good question! Honestly; i'm not sure. She might not exist at all, or if she does, she's more halfa than fey. Vlad would need a lot of human dna and ectoplasm to balance out all that fae magic. He manages to steal DNA from Jack and Maddie to do it, and since Jack's fey ancestry is very dormant its much easier to use alongside Danny's DNA.

In turn, it results in a little girl whose more human-ghost hybrid than clone. With that little extra boost in fey magic making her not a fey, but still relatively powerful. Dani is less of a clone and more of a lab-grown little sister. It's a rather tedious, complex process that has Vlad tearing his hair out trying to figure out. But he does eventually figure it out.

Dib meets one of the tallest in person and uh... is actually rather awed. He kinda gets it now. Zim is like "see?! the tallest are great!"

The story that goes with this is that Dib becomes ill, but oddly, with a somewhat rare Irken disease (stemming from a long term complication from when Zim's PAK attached to him way back when, it messed with something internally in Dib's body). So Zim takes Dib along with him to meet Red, to get Dib some Irken medicine/cure. Red has a huge crush on Zim so he tends to give him whatever he asks for (or gives him SOMETHING anyway, if he can't give him what he wants), and Zim knows this, although maybe a little in denial about the actual crush part.

am I the only one thinking about how Rebecca didn't seem that surprised when renfield revealed he was draculas familiar?

obviously the way she reacted when renfield told her he works for dracula implied that she's aware of draculas existence -as a fictional character at least. ("Dracula?...like count Dracula ") she definitely did seem to doubt renfield at first but she seemed to come to terms with that whole thing rather quickly?? idk if that's just a fault of the movie itself or there's some other reason to explain it? cause if some random guy told you he only kills people cause he works for dracula you'd probably think he's insane and making it all up right?

another thing worth mentioning is when dracula introduced himself to teddy lobo, he also doesn't react too strongly to that revelation and doesn't seem to doubt him or even care about it that much. later on when teddy introduced Dracula to his mother (who also didn't seem shocked at all) he says "it's the real fucking dracula!" which again proves that Dracula is a well known character (or maybe just a well known person?) and suggests that the general public know about him. yet this doesn't explain why NOBODY DOUBTS HIM OR EVEN QUESTIONS IT???

thinking about the choice to have buck babysit jee-yun at his apartment when it would have made infinitely more sense to have him go over to maddie and chim's where all of jee's things are and where there aren't, you know, steep steps with child-sized holes in between them. but that deliberate choice to centre buck in his home (👀🤨) with his niece, with a child, the episode after he donated sperm. that deliberate choice to centre buck in a space so heavily permeated by christopher with his niece. its kids today and eddie dropping chris off with buck, its searchers and eddie telling buck that there's nobody he trusts with his son more, its fallout and chris sandwiched between his co-parents on the couch, its breaking point and chris running to buck when he's upset and buck being a good friend, its let the games begin and eddie and chris teasing him around the kitchen table as he cooks for them like a family. its that direct contrast between buck struggling with his niece, a blood relation, against buck being an almost effortless part of christopher's life, linked only by love and care. and this is not to invalidate buck's relationship with jee because that is so important (to me, especially) but its just in the context of the whole sperm donor arc, to have buck struggling to keep up with someone biologically linked to him in a space where he has only thrived as christopher's buck. feels like a very, very deliberate choice to me.

so my nonni know this couple, one is from Trinidad and one is german.

so, my nonni now have this brass candelabra. I was living in their house at the time and me and my family were playing around with it.

because you could move the different candle holder branches, and we realised we could make them straight in a line.

and low and behold, it was a FUCKING MENORAH

just.. a random menorah??? that doubled as a candelabra, honestly sweet design choice.

but, my nonni just. have a random menorah now, that is 500% stolen.

In FaaF there are different species and kinds of higher beings (still a MASSIVE work in progress tbh, trying to figure out how these cunts work, but for now I'm thinking they're extremely rare species with far greater abilities and lifespans than a normal bug's that have a chance to ascend to true godhood (but even if they don't ascend that doesn't stop mortals from worshipping them as they're already very god-like from a normal bug's perspective)), "pale beings" being one of these kinds/mutations.

Well, there was also a different kind once, "void beings", but they all went extinct a very long time ago by the beginning of the story. Shade Lord was one, and last, of them and it lost its life in a fight with Radiance - the same fight that drove her to make her permanent residence in the dream realm out of her new-found fear of death (which backfired spectacularly ngl). Its body was buried in the Abyss, where it broke apart and decayed, or decayed as much as a non-living thing can, before it was unearthed many ages later by the pale wyrm.

Not much is known about them since they've been gone for so long, and the vessels are the only void beings remaining, but since they're not "pure" void beings it'd be foolish of anyone to assume that the ancient extinct species behaved the same way as these ones do. But they were generally greatly feared thanks to the void's freaky, dangerous properties, which partly lead to their extinction as some of the other higher beings purposefully attacked and killed them whenever they stumbled across one out of fear. Now the only thing remaining of them are the rare void sources, where their former bodies still refuse to fully die.

Shade Lord does get accidentally resurrected in the story bc of all the tomfoolery happening with its body before almost immediately getting killed again by Ghost who inherits its title and reign. Don't ask me how that works, haven't figured that out yet. Magic god shit or something idk LMAO

And PK #slowly stopped after the vessel plan began. After Flower/Pure Vessel was taken into the palace the extent of his studies revolved around #them and their health. He only created new moulds when the old ones got destroyed. Guilt played a big part in his reasons for that. #Norel would know a bit more simply because PK's source sample was limited while Norel travelled across wasteland looking for void and #experimented with different sources. And he was considerably more...unethical about them. So he probably knows what void does to a mortal's #body while PK doesn't know much about that bc he was careful to not give any of his citizens and staff void poisoning after he realised it #was dangerous. Also thinking about Norel once having a mole in the White Palace which is how he found out about Floeer and the origins of #vessels. And maybe said mole broke into PK's workshop and wrote down some things before leaving Hallownest 👀 Bc it does feel a little #weird for Norel to know more than PK just like that.
