First Christmas spin. This music is pure magic, I swear. I melted into my couch cushions as soon as I got it on. Over the summer I was in love with the 60s ska & boss reggae sound, but the early 70s roots era was my first reggae love, and the tracks on here are the real deal. It’s #superfriendssunday again! This week, @funkcroci asked us to pick a great Various Artists album. I chose my favorite early reggae compilations: a sampling of Trojan Records best-ofs and the soundtrack of The Harder They Come. I don’t listen to a lot of compilations, but I listen a lot to these because they collect songs that just don’t come on LPs, many of them by bands that only ever released a handful of 45s before disappearing.
