Danny al Ghul Danyal, cast a glance as his full blooded and twin sister this time around Helen Ellie al Ghul who rolled her eyes as they listened to their 'father' ramble on and on about their 'dad' and how they were created to be his heir (Danny mostly, though he had plans on Ellie going to be trained to be his body guard by someone named Lady Shiva soon)

Yeah, no. Ellie dealt with one evil fruitloop father who cloned her once before, she's not dealing that again or falling for the 'I created thus I love you but not really' bs. They need to leave, like yesterday.

Hopefully their 'dad' is... okay he doesn't need to be okay with it at first but hopefully comes around to it, okay with the two of them showing up on his doorstep soon.

And you know what, they're gonna bring him a gift.

Damians blood ran cold as he heard something that should not be possible. He had never even let himself think about it, because even recalling the mere memory of it would shatter him.

He was vaguely aware as Batman cried out for him, but that didn’t matter. His blood was rushing too quickly through his ears. Any protest or question simply ignored. He had somewhere he needed to be, and he needed to be there now.

Was the last thing that came over the coms before he reached up and muted everyone, everyone but the voice he was focused on. The world had narrowed down to the wind whipping past him, his heartbeat in his ears and the one voice that he had wish to hear again for so long.

His lungs burned as Wayne industries came in to view. Why? Why of all nights was he on the outskirts of the city?  He needed to move faster, faster, please be fast enough. Always giving him a choice and he had failed his brother when he was willing to give up everything for someone as weak and pitiful as him. He wasn’t strong enough to run. Go to Jason for advice. You two are more alike than you even know, lean on each other, use that. 

Try photography with Tim. Take pictures of all those animals that you love.

Less than one minute

Pull pranks with Stephanie. Let yourself be a kid and laugh at stupid and dumb things. 

When things get too much go to Cass for quiet and understanding.

Go to Duke and ask him to take you out shopping at a regular store or to go to the mall to buy a toy for yourself. Enjoy the normal quiet moments.

Go to Bruce for comfort, he is Batman but he is also our dad don’t forget that, let him be a dad.

As his feet made contact with the roof of Wayne enterprises a small, glowing object made it self known in the center of the roof. It appeared that stars itself littered and sprung from the object, beckoning him forward. 

He was vaguely aware of the rest of the bats and birds joining him on the roof, but that didn’t matter. All that mattered was that his shaking hand was reaching out to grab the old dog stuffed animal as the last glitters of Stardust left the plush.

A drop of water fell down and landed on the left ear of the love worn dog. Reaching up and touching below the domino he realize that he was crying. When did that happen? When was the last time this happened?

As he clutched the dog plush to his chest, a frivolity that would have never been allowed in the league, but still his brother who he loved most in this world snuck it in for him. Hiding it behind a loose stone in the wall. Bringing it out for him to hold as his big brother comforted him and told him stories of a better life that they could have. 

The demons heir, Robin, Damien sobbed, cried for the injustice of the world, for his brother who even waiting for him in the hereafter was still looking out for him. 

His body shook as wave after wave of agony and despair ripped through him. Years of repressed grief tore through his body sharper and with more deadly aim than any blade. The floodgates had been opened. His big brother had given him this one last gift. 

So when Batman, his father, his dad crouched down in front of him concern showing through his usual stoic expression he does not ignore what his brother has given him and leaps forward, clutching onto his dad and weeping for the brother that he lost and the son his dad will never get to know.

as ive gotten older representation solely for representations sake has grown increasingly hollow. i don't rly care if ur show has gay ppl in it, i want shows where u can't divorce a character from their gayness, where a characters sexuality has real impact on the the themes of a work as a whole. which i think is a major why siuan and moiraine's relationship hits so hard for me

by further canonizing an already canon (tho ignored by um more homophobic fans let's say) relationship and keeping them together beyond the events of new spring, judkin's makes a gay relationship foundational to the entire shows core mythology. you can't carve it out. moiraine and siuan may have decided to risk being excommunicated from the white tower if not outright stilled/executed partly bc of ideological reasons, but they remain committed bc their faith in the white tower can only be countered by their faith in each other.

like. i need to lie down. siuan spends most of her life waiting. hoping moiraine isn't out there dead somewhere without her knowing it (i keep wondering if their gay little tingle stopped working when moiraine either got shielded or stilled at the end of s1, and whether or not she took that to mean moiraine died but um. post for another day). she survives on minutes together with moiraine in secret and then goes back to another year all alone. AND publicly having to pretend she hates her like...my god.....

for moiraine, it gives her more to yearn for -- she doesn't just want to find rand so he can defeat the dark one, she wants her search to come to an end so she can be reunited with The Love Of Her Life™!!!

it's equal parts moving and tragic. even if they succeed and live thru the last battle, they'll still have had to sacrifice so much of the life they could have had together under different circumstances. at the same time, the pure ROMANCE of two ppl dedicating themselves to each other so thoroughly that they can spend years, decades separated and still be motivated to remain true in their task bc they love each other..........

I debated if I even wanted to do a chapter react for this one, I did for the last two and this is a series I generally have a lot of thoughts about, but perhaps I was spoiled by how those chapters were deeply concerned with the character arcs for Ruby and Aqua, some of my favorite parts of the manga.

This one instead focuses on our mysterious crow girl, Tsukuyomi. Which is good, she has desperately needed some fleshing out, but....hmm. It feels very strange to go from essentially net zero information to having her whole backstory and thoughts about the other characters dropped on us all at once. The fact that the backstory is so completely out of left field just makes it worse. Like. Okay, so crow girl is....an actual crow? sure, let's go with that?

Would I be taking lethal amounts of copium to think this might be some kind of metaphor? I don't think it is because that would be too misleading for what OnK usually does but like. what is this development here.

I think the main reason this bothers me is because it feels incredibly one-sided. The hints that crow girl's previous life had a connection to the siblings was interesting, and spurred speculation on what the nature of that relationship was, but the actual answer here seems kind of...the least impactful way to go about it? It would have felt Weird and fanfic-y to suddenly introduce a random OC who was important to both Gorou and Sarina in their past lives, given that their isolation and loneliness were kind of key to their characters. But introducing a literal animal in the role feels kind of like a cop out. You want a character who could be seamlessly inserted into the character's backstories, without changing the trajectory of their arcs whatsoever? okay, she's the stray bird they met that time. In essence, it means Tsukuyomi gets to have a connection to Ruby and Aqua, but they don't have one with her. It's one sided.

Which, if I'm being charitable, could be the point - another way to explore the themes explored in previous chapters of people having different views of others. A crow viewing the pair from a distance without even being considered a peer could be an interesting counterpoint to previous thoughts on placing idols on pedestals - a god looking down at people condescendingly, even more so.

By the fact that she sees them as kids, even Gorou, who was in his thirties, it's clear that her view of them might be divine, but it sure isn't objective. But that's getting back into the supernatural elements of the series that I don't have any explanations or context to talk about.

I don't know, I can find explanations and ideas that make me think this could be cool when thinking optimistically but when speaking honestly I'm not super enthused by the execution in these few pages. And this is meant to be a reaction, not an analysis, so even if it isn't super professional of me I'll leave my conflicted thoughts up in the post.

This isn't a terrible revelation, I don't think this ruins the manga forever or anything, but it does feel like a bit of a wasted opportunity right now. makes me feel a little down about the chapter. But this is a serial, there's still time to make this all come together, in many different possible ways. Who knows, maybe in a few months after this arc wraps up I'll be talking about how crow girl is my new favorite character.

When you realize Sinyu/Mujin was only acting cold/distant with Nayeon and others around him because he hadn’t met Hongjo/Aengcho yet, so after he met her and started interacting with her he started to be his true self. 🫠

And his growing feelings for Hongjo (and his behavior) were foreign to him and seemed to come out of nowhere, so OF COURSE he tries to explain it away by saying it’s because of the “love potion.”

Scott's relationship with Jimmy and Pearl is interesting to me

Scott's LL and DL dynamic with Pearl is a bit clearer, where they both loved each other in LL while in DL Pearl began with love for Scott (why wouldn't she?), but Scott didn't share that love for her

Scott also clearly shows that he didn't like Pearl in DL, publicly rejecting her and spreading the story that's she's crazy

With Jimmy, it's interesting because... while I'm pretty sure Jimmy loved Scott, I am however not sure Scott loved Jimmy.

Scott tries to paint the picture that they were perfect together, but that just doesn't line up with how he behaves when it comes to Jimmy For example he extended sympathies to Tango in DL for being teammates with Jimmy, I don't think you would do that if you actually enjoyed being teamed with him in 3rd life

Now, the thing that gets me is that with Pearl, Scott tries to make up to her, because he saw he was wrong. With Jimmy, he still clings to that image of 'the perfect relationship' of 3rd life

I think at least, idk, I'm not Scott, I don't know what's going on inside his brain

I do wish I could understand Scott's motivations sometimes, I love him but he is so confusing to me

Anyways, sorry for writing a lot without actually making a point, I just need to share my thoughts with someone who has a similar 3rd life FH interpretation as me

Sidenote: I use the word 'love' here as the broad term for it, so when I say that Pearl and Scott loved each other in LL, I do not mean they loved each other romantically

hello hello so I dont actually have a lot to add to this bc I think a lot of us are all on the same page about this already buuuuuuut I do have some thoughts on this:

There’s a few reasons for this (pearl is better at the game than jimmy, scott doesnt see the inherent worth in people and therefore scott doesnt really see jimmy as like. a person) but a really interesting angle to take on this is to examine the difference between how Scott views his platonic and romantic relationships. Granted this is a lot more speculatory than strictly citation based, the only things I’m citing here are Scott’s two perfect jimmy after life endings where the roles are very clear cut despite jimmy not really being. Like That. As well as Scott’s weird fixation on jimmy in particular in DL and beyond (but particularly how he goes about it in limlife + SL as DL is more just outright bullying than weird flirting).

While Scott is still weird about Pearl too sometimes, Pearl is more often the one to bring it up first and most the time I think Scott likes to pretend he doesn’t give a shit about her anymore. Because Scott puts romantic relationships up on a pedestal, he has more rigid expectations about how his relationship with Jimmy was supposed to have actually been like, so in retrospect he’s a lot more willing to glorify it and romanticize what they had than he otherwise would be. He needs to cling on to this whole hopeless romantic with a tragic love schtick as part of his identity or else he dies even though the only genuine human connections he’s made in his entire life have been platonic. He just likes the appeal of being a romantic in theory because he values dedication and loyalty in a way that resonates with the stereotypical storybook romance.
