When it’s all said and done and they’ve settled down and rested and have all spent time with their families and checked on their friends and helped rebuild, maybe a year or two after That day, the gang meets up again.

Hamid has grown softer around the middle even as his cheekbones further sharpened. His dragonish features are undeniable at this point. Stubby little horns are visible no matter how he combs his hair.

Azu teases that they match her tusks, as one of them has grown a little faster than the other. She herself is as beautiful as ever. She wears her age well. The responsibility of a high priestess suits her serious but kind eyes.

Oscar too has softened around the waistline. Zolf’s cooking is the cause for that. A life of relaxation and adoration is the cause for that. It’s what he deserves. Zolf himself, meanwhile, looks younger than he ever did. Even before his hair turned white. There are fewer lines around his eyes and mouth. His shoulders are less tense. The weight of the world has been lifted off them.

Cel, of course, looks almost like they did all those months ago. Their hair is still pointing upwards, they still wear more pairs of goggles than anyone has any need to, and their fingers are still stained with chemicals.

The most notable change, has come over Skraak. The kobold is still red, but now there is a shimmering metallic hue to their scales. Their horns and claws have darkened. And nobody could miss the insignia on his chest belt, identifying him as a respected member of his community’s council. He stands tall. Even though they’re still shorter than any of them.

“It is good to see you all,” Skraak’s voice hasn’t changed at all. Nasal and at the same time high pitched and rumbly. “Thank you for coming.”

“Of course we came when you asked,” Hamid replies, shaking Skraak’s clawed hand with his own. “It’s the least we could do.”

“Says the one who only had to cross the road,” Cel teases, “gosh, but it *is* hot in Cairo, isn’t it?”

“It’s glorious!” Azu smiles widely.

“You haven’t actually told is why we’re here yet, Skraak.” Zolf points out, arms crossed over his chest, shirt pushed up to his elbows against the heat.

The little kobold smirks a little and, after a glance at Hamid, nods towards the Tahan-Zalia-and-Daughters branch behind them.

“I hear there’s a fancy little cloak hidden beneath your sister’s bank, Hamid. Anyone in the mood for a heist?”

I love how Cel was so proud of their butterfly analogy and how brought everything back to it for a while. Then they kinda deflated a bit after noticing they brought it back and apologized. Like i relate to that so much. I was so happy that Azu assured them that it was a good analogy and encourage them to go on about it.

sometimes i think about how Zolf got upset with Hamid in episode 25 given how the kew gardens situation was handled and how he said “I don’t want any of you dying, you’re here because of me. I hired you. I got you involved in this stuff, so I’m responsible for you.” 

and then I think about how he must have felt when he found out the LOLOMG had gone to Rome and had gone missing and then were as far as he knew, dead. How much guilt he must have had to process, because he got them involved and then he left them. 

and then i think about the small feeling of relief when Hamid turned up, Azu in tow, only to be crushed again by the confirmation that Sasha was indeed gone.

and then i feel sad
