Going down a whole train of thought about Richie entering the Great British Sewing Bee after reading the biogs of this year’s contestants. ‘Richie got into sewing when his Great Aunt Mabel left him her sewing machine. He loves smashing blouses, and knocking up a frilly apron of an afternoon! Richie also specialises in making matching outfits in contrasting colours for himself and his life partner Eddie.’
"eddie... we've known each other for a long time. we can talk, and there is something i have been meaning to say to you for the last 25 years. I HATE YOU!! I HATE YOU!! I HATE YOU!!! GO AWAY AND CRAWL AWAY AND DIE IN A DITCH SOMEWHERE YOU BASTARD!!!"
A lot of comedy duos play with the “old married couple” dynamic, usually portraying a sometimes combative, but ultimately comfortable and affectionate marriage, long past the honeymoon stage. I think that part of what makes Richie and Eddie’s dynamic so funny (and tragic), is that they also play with the married couple image, but it’s an image of an utterly miserable marriage. Probably the closest they had to a honeymoon stage was an time, occasionally hinted at, when Eddie found Richie’s antics funny. A time that probably fizzled out quickly, but not quickly enough for them to avoid getting stuck together.
Forgot to mention here that I finally visited THE bench the other day
And if you go and notice this black number code padlock, it’s mine! I got it when I started high school, a few months before my love of rik started when I got into the young ones, and it’s been with me ever since, I used only that padlock throughout high school, so i think it’s nice that I could give something significant to me to rik as a sign of appreciation for him 😌
