okay so maybe i'm a little emotional abt this

#okay. okay. #like. i get why some ppl would've preferred beverly daze i GET IT OK??? #but putting these two against each other is like putting american boyfriend against arizona baby and you just can't do that!! #they're such different projects!! #arizona baby and ginger had so much overlap it's obviously very bh influenced. and bd felt more like that to me too! #and they're both amazing albums and i really really get why most bh fans prefer them #but american boyfriend holds such a special place in my heart and blanket feels like a continuation for it #maybe it's bc theyre pre-sat and post bh albums but to me they feel like kevin's own stuff more than yk. baby boy or use me #because yes those are also his songs and the same people made them that have made p much all of kevin's and brockhampton's stuff #(romil hemnani you're like a god to me<3) #BUT especially those two song were made with bh in mind! there's a whole dom verse for use me! and i won't even get into baby boy!!! #so idk yes i looove arizona baby and i would've loved to hear beverly daze fully and if he makes another project like them (more bh leaning #i'm vvvv excited for that!! #but i guess since there's such a clear theme with american boyfriend and blanket and there's seven whole years between them #it just feels like maybe this is more the type of music he wants to focus on #and well. american boyfriend is my favorite album of all time so you won't find me complaining!!

When the British singer Arlo Parks released her first album, “Collapsed in Sunbeams,” in 2021, she appeared as a fully formed artist dealing in a soulful, musing alt-pop sound, her confessional songcraft glowing with all the wonder and angst of youth; it scored her the Mercury Prize, for the best record released in the U.K. or Ireland.

Parks’s second album, “My Soft Machine,” released last year, felt a bit less personal but more ambitious by an order of magnitude, adding the producer Ariel Rechtshaid (Adele, Vampire Weekend) and the Brockhampton beat-maker Romil Hemnani to fill out its soft-rock palette. It’s been a minute since I did one of these, but in a year that started with the death of a legend , and saw music infrastructure fracture even further into hyper-niche corners, I found myself more engaged than I’ve been in a while with new rap. Maybe the sheer impossibility of staying on top of everything freed me up to just hear what I hear and rock with what I like, or maybe I just finally burnt myself out playing Starlito tapes on repeat and needed something to switch it up with, but picking 50 was actually kinda tricky.
