You immediately picked up your 18 month old boy from his playpen and waddled as fast as you could with your 7 month belly to get outside and see if it was true. That your husband was home. And sure enough, there he was. In his tall, goofy glory, still in his flight suit, with your children climbing him like a jungle gym. Was he home from being in the middle of the ocean early? Yeah, yeah he was. But you weren't going to question it. You were just happy to have your Ronnie back.

headcanon that after the battle of hogwarts harry needs a whole support group each time he gets a migraine because he is convinced voldemort has somehow returned. hermione and ron get howlers in the middle of the night and they’re like “ah shit here we go again” before putting on their night vests and flooing over. hermione has a small bag prepared with different kinds of muggle medicines for headaches and she sits with harry and holds him to try and calm him down long enough for ron to cook up something small for harry to eat so he can take the meds without worrying about upsetting his stomach. ron has become proficient at dishing up harry’s comfort foods in record time. they stay with him until he falls back to sleep and it’s quiet, they just lie together in the dark. ron always insists on sticking around even after harry has fallen asleep and he always stays up, just to make sure, just to be sure harry doesn’t start twisting and turning and talking haunted by another nightmare. the day after, harry wakes up and his scar doesn’t hurt and his best friends are by his side and that is… nice, more than nice, it is good, familiar, right. ron and hermione try not making it a big deal each time it happens but harry knows them organising small outings with old friends or a dinner at the burrow is no coincidence. he is always glad to see luna in particular when this kind of thing happens, he’ll ask about the latest quibbler issue and listen to her talk and any thought of voldemort will feel long dead and gone and far.

has anyone ever thought of how the golden trio are literally the improved version of james, sirius, and remus?

harry is james. he's an excellent quidditch player, golden boy of gryffindor, loyal to a fault, burning hatred for snape, etc etc. But he's BETTER- he's not an arrogant, bullying toerag; due to his childhood, he's the literal opposite (which is actually kinda ironic lmao)

ron is sirius. super loyal to harry/james, funny af, from a pureblood family, actually quite intelligent beneath his demeanor, etc etc. But he's BETTER- he's mean, sure, but he grows and learns from it, becoming a better person (whereas sirius held onto his vindictive streak going into adulthood)

hermione is remus. bookworm, stickler for rules, super intelligent, most often the voice of reason yet very much chaotic, feels ostracized/seperated from peers, etc. etc. But she's BETTER- if someone murdered Harry and his child went into an abusive household, she will NOT let that slide, thank you very much, because she will KILL for her besties.

they're the marauders, but BETTER.
