i have No interest in keeping a saltwater tank EXCEPT that i want a mantis shrimp. i know they’re like pests in the aquarium world bc they will kill and eat the rest of ur stock and fuck with ur corals and they usually burrow so u rarely even see them but i have a beautiful fantasy world where i have one of those rimless cube tanks with a bunch of coral selected to compliment my one huge and beautiful shrimp that’s always out and about being so so pretty

Colloquially known shrimps are welcomed too! They don’t need to be known as shrimp scientifically.

(UPDATE) Please don’t submit a place, activity, or someone simply called shrimp, shrimpy, etc. Only submit aquatic crustaceans that people call a shrimp.

i wonder what would be the best time to ask my new boss if -- oh shit hang on post cancelled the last adult fairy shrimp in the jar culture on my desk just started randomly convulsing and twitching all over the place be4 sinking to the bottom. i think it might be his time to go. a moment of silence for the last of his generation 😔😭 hopefully he got the chance to pass his genes on... i'll find out when i dry out the jar and rehydrate it in a months time if we actually managed to get any viable eggs outta this colony

#i was hoping theyd be able to hatch without a drying period like brine shrimp do but alas. seems to not be the case #ah well. such is life #i might just try it with brine shrimp this time around tbh. mixing the saltwater will be a pain but they can reproduce in perpetuity #which is much less work compared to needing to fully dry out and then rehydrate each batch of eggs #anyway my original thought was if i should ask if im allowed to wear headphones at work. im sure the answer will be yes but id better ask
