☽ Closet Witch Tips ☾
Hi, everyone! I spent years living as a closet witch and wishing I had more freedom to practice. Nowadays my living situation is different which allows me to do things I couldn’t before, but I know that there are many witches out there who are still struggling with this so I decided to share some tips on how to practice in the broom closet
Keep in mind these are all suggestions, you don’t need to have an altar, a book of shadows, practice divination, etc if you don’t want to
Altars
(Disclaimer: you don’t need an altar to practice, but in case you still desire to have one)
Inside a jewelry box
Shoe box
Tin can
Matchbox
In a video game such as animal crossing, the sims, minecraft, etc
The #SelfCare app has a little altar in which you can decorate with crystals, herbs and tarot cards
Notebook (then add the items by drawing them or maybe making collages)
Make/buy a little terrarium (artificial or real)
I’ve heard of people using plant vases as altars as well
Divination
(In case you can’t buy tarot decks/runes/etc)
Make your own tarot cards/oracle cards (it can be a little tiring but it’s what I did when I couldn’t buy my own)
Use playing cards as minor arcanas to read tarot
Pendulums (doesn’t have to be an actual crystal pendulum as you see on witchy stores, anything on a string will do)
Make runes out of seashells, rocks, clay, etc
Flip a coin for yes and no questions
Give dice divination a try
Deity Worship/Work
Wear jewelry that reminds you of them (ex: sun necklace for apollo, moon ring for artemis, etc)
Wear their associated colors
Practice devotional acts such as reading about them, praying, drawing something for them, writing them a letter, something related to your deity’s domains
Keep a notebook in which you can write their myths/domains/associations/etc or write prayers/poems, make drawings of things they like, etc
Keep a small altar
Watch movies that remind you of them
Play video games associated with their domains
Study something they have domain over
Make them a playlist
Make them a pinterest board
Make a devotional blog
Light a candle in their honor (it’s ok if you can only use LED candles)
Keep something associated with them on your desk/shelf
Keep a crystal associated with them near you
Get a small statuette/toy of one of their sacred animals to represent them (on your shelf/desk, on a small altar if you have one, etc)
Make a little deity jar and keep it near you
Have a devotional plant for them
Spend time in nature in their honor
Take care of yourself
Book of Shadows
Notebook
Notes app
Google docs or google keep
Tumblr blog (either private or public, up to you)
Somewhere on your phone/computer
Simple Practices
Enchant your jewelry with intention
Use color correspondence in your clothes/makeup
Meditating
Open your windows to cleanse your room
Keep crystals around you
Physically clean your space
Take showers/baths with the intention of cleansing yourself
Try practicing some kitchen magic if you cook
Enchant your food/drink
Make sigils
Keep plants in your space associated with your intention (ex: protection, creativity, etc)
Keep in mind that you’re not any less of a witch for not being able to do certain things, your practice is still valid
☽ Feel free to reblog with more tips! ☾

Witches & Witchcraft: Types & Definitions
There is an abundance of types of witches, some being more common than others, for example, death witch or hedge witch. I have provided the different types of witches with a brief description/definition of what they study, believe and tools most commonly used for each.
The types of witchcraft is entirely up to the individual which they prefer to do. One person may only follow on type of magick whereas another may follow several. Listed are a handful of the many kinds, but I'm listing the most common/known types of magick/witchcraft that people fall into.
I have grouped some witches together as they fit together under the same or similar definitions.
Tumblr media
Types of Witches
Religious witches;
Christian, Satanic (Theistic), Laveyan Satanic, Hellenic, Celtic and Wiccan, etc. are witches that follow a primary belief system and incorporate their religion into the craft.
Non-Religious witches;
Secular - doesn't work with [a] deity(ies).
Science - (also a craft type), uses metaphysical and scientific fads and theories mixed together.
Other types of witches;
Solitary - works alone and is not part of a coven. Won't typically work with other witches for spell work or any part of their practice.
Eclectic - a practice that includes multiple practises from different areas. A mixture of all practices, may practise one more than another, or all equally.
Hereditary/Generational - a witch who is born into a family whom practice the craft. The term 'Blood witch' is often a hot topic of controversy as to whether it makes one a more powerful witch.
Traditional - a type that is based on honouring the traditional ways of magick, which also ties in nicely with generational/hereditary witches.
Chaotic/Chaos - a witch who utilizes new, non-traditional and unorthodox methods. It's still relatively new and highly individualistic practice while still drawing from common forms of magick.
Tumblr media
Types of Witchcraft/Magick
Green Witch; A witch who uses natural magick, such as creating blends of different plants, or primarily using herbs and/or crystals spells in their craft. Tools mostly consist of herbs, crystals, stones, flowers, soil or other greenery.
Hedge Witch; Also know as an astral witch, this type of magick is orientated around spiritual work such as astral projection, lucid dreaming, spirit work, healing and out-of-body magick. Tools mostly consist tarot cards, runes, pendulum, stones, crystal ball, mirrors & candles.
Dream Witch; Mindful and internal magickal practice mainly based from interpreting dreams and/or engaging in lucid dreaming. Practises used to 'de-code' symbols and messages in the dream world can be used similarly to how one would use divination techniques. Tools mostly consist of dream catchers, candles, books of glossaries of symbols.
Sea/Ocean; Derived from materials and abstract ideas involving ocean and the oceanic world. Sea or ocean magick can be worked with by using things found on or relating to a beach/lagoon. A sea witch might draw their energy from such tools. Tools commonly consist of driftwood, pebbles/stones, seashells, ocean water, bones, seaweed, candles.

Many garden witches have their own garden and plant flowers and herbs to draw in energy for their home and to include in rituals and spells. Tools commonly consist of flowers, soil, seeds, greenery, twigs/tree branches, leaves.

01. Green witch
The Green Witch embraces nature by drawing on the energies from the earth and of untamed things. They commune with the land, with stones and gems and they reley on plants, flowers and herbs. They call to nature for guidance and respects every living being and they have a strong belief that humans must give back to world and protect it. They tend to be animal/environmental activists and they will go the extra mile to spread awareness.
The Green Witch makes their own ritual tools from found objects in nature and they make sure these are ethically sourced materials. They might also work with Animal Guides and Plant Spirits. The forest is the Green Witch's sacred temple and they often spend time hiking or visiting parks and gardens.
Books I recommend:
The Green Witch ~ Arin Murphy-Hiscock
Encyclopaedia of Magical Herbs ~ Scott Cunningham
Occult Botany ~ Paul Sedir
The Treadwell's Book of Plant Magic ~ Christina Oakley Harrington
Wortcunning ~ Nigel G. Pearson
Tumblr media
02. Crystal Witch
Crystal Witches focus their magick on healing and manifesting. Crystals are known for their healing energies due to their ability to raise one's own vibration. Crystals emit this constant vibration, that when met with a lower vibration, has the ability to raise, in turn, providing healing qualities through an energetic level, which can therefore fast track our own physical healing.
Crystal Witches may also be drawn to rocks and stones alike and generally appreciate the gift of nature. They may also be attracted to the study of geology and often work with chakras/practice chakra meditation.
Books I recommend:
The Power of Crystal Healing ~ Emma Lucy Knowles
The Zenned Out Guide to Understanding Crystals ~ Cassie Uhl
The Crystal Workshop ~ Azalea Lee
Crystals for Witches ~ Eliza Mabelle
Tumblr media
03. Kitchen Witch
The Kitchen Witch’s potion is a soup and they’re magical wand is a trusty wooden spoon. Cooking becomes a sacred art for the Kitchen Witch. A Kitchen Witch may not often dedicate a specific time and resources to ceremony, instead they work intuitively rather than ritually to find the magic in everyday life.
Kitchen Witches personalise their space with great intention and care. They instantly know when a space resonates with them or not. They often cook with whole, organic foods and they may also grow their own food. They also tend to enchant ingrediants before using them in a dish and they might sometimes make dishes to treat illnesses.
Books I recommend:
Potions, Elixirs & Brews ~ Anais Alexandre
The Wicca Cookbook ~ Jamie Wood & Tara Seefeldt
Wicca in the Kitchen ~ Scott Cunningham
The Magick of Food ~ Gwion Raven
Tumblr media
`04. Sea Witch
A sea witch is a practitioner of witchcraft whose spiritual focus and magical practices are closely tied to the sea and its elements. They use the potent energy of the ocean as a force to drive spellcraft, cleanse the soul and renew the spirit. Sea Witches forge a deep bond with the sea and its inhabitants, working with its energy to manifest their intentions and achieve their goals.
Sea Witches are naturally sensitive and empathetic. The ocean is their sacred space and often times they might live near the ocean or are very drawn to it. They are also very drawn to stroms and enjoy the rain. They might study oceanic mythology and sea animals. They also often collect seashells, pebbles or other beach treasures and may use them in their craft.
Books I recommend:
Sea Witch's Companion ~ Levannah Morgan
Sea Magic ~ Sandra Kynes
Water Witchcraft ~ Annwyn Avalon
Mermaids ~ Skye Alexander
Tumblr media
05. Divination Witch
The Divination Witch focuses primarily on divination practices such as tarot & oracle, pendulum, scrying, runes, tea leaf reading, meditation, and connecting to your inner guides/higher being. To them, it’s most important to incorporate these divination practices to their everyday life, or at least in ceremonial rituals.
A Divination Witch may draw power from the earthly elements, mediation, or with the help of seasonal changes that open portals and lower the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds. For those highly in-tuned with their intuition, have the ability to hear, see, or sense what others can’t, find themselves as an empath, and have the uncanny ability to predict the future.
Books I recommend:
The Book of Divination ~ Michael Johnstone
I Ching or Book of Changes ~ C.G. Jung & Richard Wilhelm
Tarot Card Meanings ~ Brigit Esselmont
Chakra Healing ~ Margarita Alcantara
Tumblr media
06. Lunar/Cosmic Witch
A Lunar Witch has a fascination and connection with the skies, stars, moon and planets are unparalleled. With the fundamental belief that what happens above in the cosmos is a direct correlation to what happens on Earth, Cosmic Witches focus their study on astrological transits, moon phases, and intertwining that with their own natal birth charts. A strong belief is that as we are born, we are given a blueprint, a snapshot of the skies, that presents past, present and future forecasts of not only ourselves as an individual, but as a collective, sometimes generational viewpoint too.
They draw their power from the Moon and perform certain spells and rituals depending on the phase of the moon.
Books I recommend:
Moon Magic ~ Aurora Kane
Moon Spells ~ Diane Ahlquist
Moon Magic ~ Diane Ahlquist
Witchs Moon ~ Edain McCoy

Setting up your altar is a personal manifestation of your soul and your personality in the way you practice your Magick. Each witch may have a unique set up that reflects who they are, what type of witchcraft they practice, and what is sentimental to them. As such, every altar may look a little different. There is no specific “correct way” to set up your altar. The right way to set up your altar is what feels right for you. Nevertheless, if you’re setting up your first altar and don’t know where to begin, here are a couple tips on how you can set yours up:
Where to set up your altar:
You can set up your altar anywhere! You can set it up in your home, in your garden, in your workspace (although the best place to set it up would be a more private space) but essentially an altar can exist anywhere you make the room for one. Typically the best place for an altar would be a bedroom, since its a space that most people are connected to spiritually and feel most at rest. My altar is set up in a corner of my walk in closet. It’s on the smaller side but its big enough for me to practice my craft. For those that need a much smaller space, you could set your altar up on a dresser, a nightstand, or even your windowsill. You could even get a portable altar that can be taken down and put up easily, which is good for those that live in smaller housing and those that like to travel.
Which direction should your altar face:
Again, this one is more of a personal decision. In Wiccan history, traditionally the altar is said to be facing North. However, you can face your altar in whatever direction feels right. Perhaps there is a beautiful view facing East that helps you meditate, or perhaps the area you want to set up your altar in only faces South. That is completely OK. As for me, I have my altar facing North-East, based on my preference on the elements I feel most connected to. I have two modes, I’m either completely grounded or completely in the clouds, so the elements I feel most connected to are earth and air; which is how I chose to position my altar. If you want to position your altar for the elements you feel most connected to, you would choose between North (earth), South (fire), East (air), and West (water). However you choose to position your altar should feel right to you.
What to put on your altar:
Your altar can consist of a few traditional things and personal things. You can have plants, crystals, candles, incense, and other traditional tools. You can also have personal items such as photographs, magazine clippings of something you want to manifest in your life, a homemade wreath or jewelry, or anything that feels personal to you such as a seashell or stone you picked yourself on your last hike or adventure. There’s a few things I personally believe every altar should have for spiritual protection purposes (this is my opinion only, not mandatory in any way) and those are:
an altar cloth
a candle
protective crystals (such as black tourmaline, smoky quartz, or amethyst)
incense or white sage
a fireproof bowl or cauldron
Additional things you may want to consider for your altar:
a wand (either premade or handmade) or athame
herbs or crystals for spells
a pendulum board or ouija board (if you wish to commune with spirits)
a chalice
something representing each of the elements
a compass
charms or small statues of things that you connect spiritually with
hand-picked items such as seashells, acorns, pine cones, leaves, feathers, or stones
Important things to remember about your altar:
I know I sound like a broken record saying this, but again, your altar should be personal. A reflection of YOU. If your altar feels right, then it’s right. If it feels like its missing something, add more to it. If it feels too cluttered or like too much, take stuff off. Your altar can change with you! You can switch things out as you feel your energy shift. Something that is very important to remember about your altar, is that it is a sacred place. Cleanse your altar if things start to not feel right after changing things up. Remember that things you find other places, may have picked up energy from that place/people, so be sure to cleanse any items you are bringing into your sacred space.
Blessed be

Tidal Pendulum: Unveiling Oceanic Insights
Tumblr media
🔍 Understanding the Tidal Pendulum:
The Tidal Pendulum represents a convergence of craftsmanship and elemental energies. Rooted in the timeless tradition of divination, this instrument capitalizes on the symbolic resonance of oceanic components to facilitate a nuanced connection with the natural forces governing the tides.
🐚 Materials and Symbolic Significance:
Seashells 🌀: Each seashell integrated into the Tidal Pendulum embodies a specific elemental energy and imparts symbolic significance. Choose from a curated selection to align your divination queries with the intended energetic resonance.
Driftwood 🌲: Crafted from weathered driftwood, the pendulum's handle symbolizes resilience, adaptability, and the cyclical nature of existence. This component serves as a grounding force, anchoring the divination process in earthly energies.
💧 The Art of Tidal Divination:
Preparation and Setting: Initiate your divination session in a tranquil environment conducive to introspection. Create an ambiance of focused contemplation by employing subdued lighting and calming elements.
Calibration of Intentions: Prior to employing the Tidal Pendulum, articulate your intentions clearly. Frame your queries with precision, allowing the pendulum to channel the nuanced guidance inherent in the ebb and flow of the tides.
Pendulum Oscillation: Engage in the divination process by allowing the Tidal Pendulum to oscillate freely. Observe the subtle movements and patterns as they unfold, interpreting each swing with deliberate consideration.
Interpreting Symbolic Movements: The pendulum's movements serve as a symbolic language, akin to the rhythmic language of the tides. Develop a nuanced understanding of these movements, interpreting them as responses to your queries.
Closure and Reflection: Conclude your divination session with a moment of reflection. Express gratitude for the guidance received and contemplate the insights garnered from the Tidal Pendulum's nuanced dance.

Book Of Shadows Index
I see a ton of Witchtoks/people who only give a basic summary of what to research along with a ton of books and I'm more of a bullet point girl. So... Here we go.
A book of shadows was coined by Alaisar Crowley, alongside garnder who was the founder of Wica, then changed to Wicca later on [I will go in depth in history with links/sources and more detail on another post]
So here's the index for a book of shadows, full of all things you the individual want to learn include in your practice and like Pirates of the Caribean, take it more as guidlines and you're free to decide what you like/don't like.
So Include a Book Of shadows Blessing in the begging of your book [or digital document] And a BOS is like a diary, only you can see it or your coven.
____________________________________________________________
Beginner Studies; Introduction to Witchcraft. I.e: What is Paganism, Wicca, Witchcraft? What is the difference? Wicca History: Origins in your country of origin. Salem, etc. Covens and Hierchies and Solitary witches. Basic rundown, you have your first, second, third degree. Like an employee, a suvervisor and a manager. Managers are in charge of their own store, like a third degree can create their own coven.
Lore: Tree of life, Triple goddess, Horned God, Morgan le fey and other mythical lore and research depending on which one your aligned with. Like Norse, Greek, Celtic, Viking, Roman, or any other types. Wiccan Rede, rules of Wicca power of three times three. Etc.
Symbols: Look up certain symbols, or sigils, runes, thats commonly used in Wicca/Paganism or your preffered craft. Cast a circle: Most begin a spell and cast a protection circle before you begin your spell. Pentacle [Star with circle] Pentragram [No circle] *Include the Spirit, fire, earth, water, air. Evil eye. [usually used as protection AGAINST the evil eye]
Witch Tools: Witch tools you use, or place on your altar. Like an Athame, cualdron, wand, etc Tools of Divination: Pendulum, spirit board, tarot, angel cards, scrying mirror, playing cards, etc Additional tools: Candles. Crystals. Elements Herbs Chakras/Meditation Lucid Dreaming Astral projection Milk baths
______________________________________________________________
Year Calender/Sabbets Month Calender Day Calender: Like Moday is MOON. Sunday is SUN, Saturday is Saturn etc. Deities Celtic/ Roman/Norse Other gods to research. etc Astrology.
Star Sign, Moon sign, Sun Sign, other planetary signs. Planet Retrograde, Mercury retrograde, mars, venus etc Moon Phases. Like hunters moon, pink moon etc.
Animals as omens [Careful with this one, as it links to other occult/cultures/religions and best not to appropriate and lead to indiginous tribes or others. But not all animals as omens is a sign, usually it links to the Fea as animals are fea and fea are animals and other religions like kitsune, tanaki, are shapeshifters or known as spirits in other cultures]
______________________________________________________________
Spells Moon Water Witch bag/bottle Broomsticks Seashell collecting [A practice looked down on now for enviormental effects, but I have bottles/jars of shells I've collected when I was six so I've kept them and included them as I have some] Witch Outfits [this is just my personal interest, it ties in with the history a little] Symbolism of the Hat [Like a Candle] Witch Nudity Haute Couture Bohemian/Grunge goth fashion Media/Pop culture:
Books or movies that have had witch consultants or other ties to witchcraft/wicca etc. Such as practical magic, the Craft and maybe even Neil Gaimans works such as the ocean at the end of the lane. Coraline that had mentions of a dowsing rod, and rock with a hole in the center to find lost things. Music:
Listening to music can also set da mood, so I will compile playlists and songs that made me feel witchy. Anything else to include feel free to ask or reblog :D
*ALSO IMPORTANT! CLOSED/OPEN Practice! Wicca as it is is open, you can buy a wicca book/watch withtok who have you whatever whatever! But a closed practice? Thats a religion or something you CANNOT access too UNLESS you are invited in, or iniated into that group! Indeginous tribes/jewish traditions/hoodoo/voodoo/ etc. A closed practice is a closed door. You cant access that by yourself. Which is why White sage cant be used, theres many alternatives and other incenses/sages to burn. Not the one thats sacred/endangered and used speicifially in indeginous tribes. They've already had enough taken away from them what do witches need white sage for in this current enviromental crisis? so yeah...
Additional last note: I will also include passages alongside the books I have by cunningham and others with the book as well as the passage and page/chapter and try to include web links in any future post I make.
Bear in my mind and I will TRY to be as accurate as I can, but I will make mistakes and end up posting some things thats misinformed even when I post links. But I will try my best to fix any mistakes if I can.
Blessed be.

My Appearance as an Angelic Oracle at The Spirit University "Enchanted Tides" Psychic Faire comes this June 24th, 2023
Tumblr media
Psychic Readers * Tarot Readers * Medium Readers * Scrying * Seashell Divination *Mini Store * Lectures * Mini-Workshops
Hello All,
Come this June 24th here in Sarasota, Florida I'll be appearing as one of the five or so psychics doing divination readings. There will also be one energy healer in attendance.
The Spirit University is celebrating its 12th year anniversary with this showcase psychic faire on Saturday, June 24th from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. Where they'll have 15 or so guest speakers with 15-minute rotations on a variety of New Age topics. At the very end of the speakers, line-up at 2:45 pm the school founder Victoria Ackerman will be doing a mediumship gallery for all in attendance. All standard psychic readings charge a rate of $20 for 15 minutes at the fair beyond the $5 admission cover charge.
Tumblr media
I'll be debuting in public an all-original Multi-Deck Divination System I channeled from the angelic heavenly host and evolved during the Covid-19 Lockdown period. It's a Cartomancers Smorgasbord revival utilizing 12-card decks and not the solitary one-card deck most Tarot users employ.
For example, I'll be utilizing Tarot, Lenormand, Kipper, Mah Jong cards, miscellaneous Oracle decks, and other irregular misc decks overall. It employs Five Layers of Psychic Divination besides the card decks I'll also utilize an astrological set of 3 dice, a set of 13 Witches or Gypsy Runes, a set of Viking Elder Futhark Runes, and finally my trusty Pendulum connected to my Master Angelic Spirit Guide.
Each reading takes a minimum of at least 30 minutes which I'll be charging double the psychic reading standard rate for $40 a session with yours truly.
Tumblr media
I'll also be inquiring with my clients if they wish that I hold onto their Multi-Deck divination reading. For a subsequent Blessing Ceremony which is basically, to upload the card spread to the angelic heavens from my home altar at a later date.
You see the the Multi-Deck divination system doesn't reshuffle the cards back into their respective decks after an individual card spread reading. My marble altar table at home can mount up to 65 horizontally stacked card spreads. That can take up to a full month to achieve a complete load.
Tumblr media
The Spirit University is located at 373 Braden Ave, Sarasota, Florida 34243 and their website is at:

He also utilizes a unique channeled angelic divination method called the Multi-Deck Divination System. Numerous examples of his work are available at "Atrayo's Oracle" blog site of 17 years plus online. You're welcome to visit his website "Jewelsoftruth.us" for further information or to contact Atrayo directly.

July 4th - Moon's Day
Not much to report, but today is a Monday! Mondays are connected to the Moon, and thus today I dedicated as Hekate's offering day. Whenever I work with a diety, I give them specific days of the week for their offerings so we can keep a consistent schedule. Apollo is Tuesdays, Hekate is Mondays, and though I haven't reached out to Dionysus, I plan to worship him on Saturdays.
I said my prayers this morning to both Apollon and Hekate, and then placed a piece of celestite and amethyst near my heart for the calming affects and connection to the divine. I also found one dollar boxes of Incense at the store today, and bought them some! Apollo got Sage+Citrus, and Hekate got Frankincense. However, I had to verbally apologize to her and near immediately extinguish the Frankincense when I used it in her honor today. For some reason, it seems to make me sneeze! Plus, it just smells atrocious to me! Definitely smelt better unlit smh. I did light a different scent in her honor, though I don't think strawberries are connected to Hekate at all. Afterwards, I used the ash to make Witch's Black salt!
Her offering this morning was some black tea with lavender on her tealight candle, and I drank a dark cold brew coffee in her honor. Oh, and an offering sachet with a seashell, sharp rock, rose stem, chamomile, rosemary, Witch's black salt, and more black tea with lavender. After I tied it together, I drew the triple goddess symbol on it with lavender oil. According to a pendulum reading I did with Hekate, she'd like for me to start sleeping with it under my pillow at night after today. I can't imagine why, and it's kind of hard to deduce what the Queen of Witches is thinking, but I imagine it has something to do with dreams? Because I did ask in my first contact for her to speak to me via dreams, but I've been having extremely uneventful dreams or trouble sleeping in general. Who knows, I guess I'll find out :)
In other news, my daily tarot pull was the Reversed 7 of Swords! This card suggests honesty and something coming to light, though I can't imagine what. Perhaps about the move I've got coming up? Or maybe something with my university? Maybe even something about my family, I don't know.

Altar Essentials
Tumblr media
Wand
Knife (atheme)
Incense
Salt
Altar
Cauldron
Chalice
“Holy” water
Crystals
Herbs
Candles
Crystal ball
Talisman
Make sure you cleanse all objects pass it through sage smoke , leave it out in the light of the full moon etc.
Wand
A wand should definitely be part of your tool kit. You can use a traditional one made of wood, use a tree branch as a wand, or turn an elongated crystal into a wand.
Knife (Atheme)
An athame or a knife, dagger, or blade is used for rituals, ceremonies, pruning herbs, and more.
Incense
Incense is typically used at the beginning of a spell, but it can also be used for smudging small objects (like a small glass jar.)
(Anointing - Passing an object through smoke; typically incense or white sage is used for this process.
Salt
Salt is one of the most sacred minerals, salt represents protection as well as prosperity. Salt is often used in spellwork to create protective barriers (a circle of salt), cleansing, and banishing. Salt is also useful for drawing symbols for a spell. Use a thin layer of salt on a flat surface (such as a table or tray) and draw the symbol with your finger or wand.
Altar
Altars can be used for magick and spell casting, meditation, worship, setting new intentions, rituals, and even yoga. Altars are meant to be sacred and can be as simple or as extravagant as you deem fit.
Altars bear the personality of their creators, so be sure to make your altar authentically you. There is no right or wrong way to create an altar. (my current alter consists of an altar cloth, a wand, a crystal ball, statues, incense, crystals, atheme, a goblet, runes)
It should include 4 elements.
Salt (earth) - bread, fruit, chocolate
incense (air) - breath, music
chalice (water) - wine, fruit, juice
candle (fire) - campfire, candle
5th element - spirit - dance, humor
Talisman
Tumblr media
North corresponds to the element of earth, so face north for health and healing, developing your intuition, using divination, and asking for guidance from higher beings or guides.
South corresponds to the element of fire, so face south for love or relationship issues, creativity, or anything of an emotional or romantic nature.
East corresponds to the element of air, so face east for anything concerning your career, business ventures, financial matters, and new beginnings.
West corresponds to the element of water, so face west if you need to let go of something or move on, forgive yourself or forgive someone else, or to cleanse your aura or your soul or increase your self-esteem.
LEFT SIDE OF THE ALTAR
This is where you place the items sacred to the goddess: goddess candle,\goddess statue, chalice, water bowl, aspergillum (used to sprinkle water), bell, wand, broom, and any other item associated with the goddess.
CENTER OF THE ALTAR
incense, cauldron, red candle, small dish for offerings to the deities.
RIGHT SIDE OF THE ALTAR
This is where you place items sacred to the god: god candle, god statue, salt bowl, pentacle, athame, bolline, matches, small plate used for cakes.
ANYWHERE ON THE ALTAR
Book of shadows, pen, herbs, oils, crystals, flowers.
ALTAR BLESSING
This Altar now be sacred space
Of spirit and of Mystery
May Magick dwell within this place
And all upon it blessed be
Cauldron
A cauldron is one of the most important items you should have since many spells call for burning incense, herbs, and paper, which makes a fireproof burning bowl an essential item. It can be made of stone, cast iron, copper, abalone seashell, or other fireproof material. Typically, either a burning bowl or a chalice is chosen for an altar, but if you wish to have both, that is also fine.
Pendulum
A pendulum is a tool utilized to gain information. To use it, simply ask and focus on a question and observe which direction the pendulum swings to obtain your answer. You can buy a pendulum, but making one is fairly easy. Simply find a strong string, chain, or cord about ten inches (25 cm) in length and add a small weight to it, such as a crystal pendant which is popular. Be sure to cleanse your pendulum (whether homemade or store bought) before using it. Finally, program your pendulum to show you "Yes" then ask it to show you "No." Follow this up by asking the pendulum "Yes/No" questions such as, "Is my name turmeric?" to program it.
Chalice
A chalice also referred to as a cup or goblet, a chalice has several uses in spells and rituals, such as offering libations. It can stand empty or be utilized as a symbol or to hold an ingredient.
Consecrated Water
Some spells or rituals call for consecrated water. There are a couple of ways to do this with the aid of moonlight
Crystals
Crystals and stones have many uses: to facilitate healing, serve as protective talismans, or even be worn as pieces of jewelry. They can be used as markings, for building sacred circles, for wands, and more.

Intro:
Hey I’m Sam- I’m starting this blog to document my journey into witchcraft. I’ve dabbled with it through out my life, but have yet to make a serious commitment to honing in on my craft. Here I will repost things that I find useful on my journey. If you have any tips, please don’t hesitate to hmu!
About me:
I’m a 20 y/o beginner solitary eclectic healer sea/art witch. At least that’s what I believe I am. I’m Lithuanian/Irish/German/Sardinian which I think ties into my witch heritage. I’ve been drawn to the ocean, moon, wildlife, weather, etc my whole life, and always felt a deep connection to the ocean elements. As a child into adulthood I would collect rocks, seashells, driftwood, sea glass, crystals, bones, etc. Thus leading me to believe I’m a sea witch.
Abilities:
Empath/healer/intuitive/artist
I’ve always had a strong intuition with slight psychic ability, which I’m hoping to learn how to cultivate and strengthen. I’m able to read auras and am deeply empathetic to human/animal emotions, and have been told by many psychics I will be a healer in life. I’m hoping to explore that more as well. I can talk to spirits but only through pendulum/other physical means.
Career:
I am an artist assistant and kennel technician. I’m hoping to one day have my own pottery studio, and learn to incorporate healing magic with my art, or offer psychic readings on the side. I believe I was put on this earth to heal and connect, so that’s what I will forever strive to do.
