I just wanted to pop in and say that you are SO inspirational to me and tbh I think your response was snappy and classy to that anon earlier abt being in your 30s and still writing and doing what you love. I'll being starting by 2nd decade in a month but I don't have any plans to get a boyfriend or anything, so seeing a strong independent woman like you is so motivational!

I also think there's NOTHING wrong with self promotion. Tumblr lacks feedback majorly so if other aren't gonna reblog, we writers might as well! Considering I've been following you for a long while, I never feel inundated by you (maybe that's cuz I follow too many blogs whoops) but yeah, I hope they didn't make you feel bad abt spreading your works - there's absolutely nothing wrong with that!

Not that you need my confirmation or anything haha, you should do what you do w/o it but I just want to express my love for your amazingness!

I’m a little shocked you see me as a strong, independent type, when I view myself as quite the opposite. I am grateful for your compliment all the same. Admittedly, I did want the boyfriend, then the husband and kids life when I was younger, and had believed it would all magically happen for me in my early 20s - even though I was (still am tbh) socially awkward and from being bullied throughout high school, had very little love for myself as a person back then.

As a hopeless romantic, the stories I write are depictions of what I’d love to have in my life, even now. But reality is far from my fictional worlds. I’m now too settled for how my daily world is and the mere thought of actively putting myself out there into the dating world sounds so exhausting and not a priority at all for me! I won’t say never, but I’ve accepted that because I don’t actively put myself out there, I won’t end up married, with kids, or even have a partner one day. And that’s okay. What’s not okay is people insinuating I’ve failed in some way for not being one way or another that suits their belief system. Which is why I reacted as I did. That person doesn’t know the struggles I’ve faced to come to this level of acceptance. To joke around with someone’s age and lack of partner and kids can be hurtful... strangers don’t know your journey, and shouldn’t assume how it should go either.

I hope you live your life how you feel suits you. Do what you want to achieve and don’t think the societal norms have to be met just for you to live a successful life. Your worth isn’t based on meeting these targets people expect from you. Be prepared for people to constantly challenge you for it, however. Perception is huge in this world, and having a strong mindset will help you get through. You sound like a determined young person, so I have no doubt that you will succeed in the ways you want to!

As for the self-promo thing - this is what I got messaged about a lot since receiving that anon comment. A lot of people are getting this message, so it’s actually proof we writers still commonly use reblogging to reach our audience each day. There are specific times where the activity on my blog fluctuates and so timing a reblog then is what helps get my content seen further. Tumblr greatly lacks in feedback and exposure for it’s content creators these days. It used to be such a wonderful hub of communication and inclusion. I see no real harm, considering the sheer amount of work and hours I put in for free to make this place work, in promoting myself in the way I do. I think all writers deserve attention for their creations, and that we shouldn’t have to work so hard, but it is what it is, and there’s no shame in trying to make sure the content we want seen is seen!

It's me, Engine.

So I made a Dangan Kin Blog a week ago, but I'm scared that it'll die, due to the fact I've only gotten 2 requests, and that was on the first day. Could I have some encouragement, advice, and/or comfort. :(

Hey there, Engine. Th-That’s a unique name you got there, kiddo. O-Oh, my bad, I-I mean that in a good way, I swear! S-Sorry if that came out wrong. A-Anyway, so you’ve made a new blog, and it seems to not be receiving a lot of attention as of lately. My child has quite a few friends who’ve experience this issue here, so I-I understand where you’re coming from here.

... W-Wait a minute. What’s, um, what’s a ‘kin’? I’ve heard some of you kiddos say that word before, but this old man still needs to catch up, heheh. Ah, it’s fine. I’ll help you first and then ask m-my child what that word means afterward...

In terms of some advice, w-word of mouth is always the first go-to. I-It doesn’t hurt to simply post something to your main blog or kin blog, l-letting everyone know that the inbox is empty and that some requests would be greatly appreciated. It doesn’t hurt to maybe even ask some f-friends if they want anything and c-could send a request if they do, or asking them to spread the word. B-But it also doesn’t hurt to maybe do something self-indulgent and then posting it, as some people might like and r-reblog it, and some new people might see it and go to send a request to your blog. B-Basically, word of mouth is the key piece of advice I have to give you here, kiddo.

As for comfort, pl-please don’t be too discouraged by this. N-New blogs don’t always start off with an immediate bang. Most of the time, th-these type of things take some time to really get the ball going, s-so it’s best to just give it some time. You just started your blog a week ago, after all; the first week and sometimes even the second week i-is usually the least busiest you’ll ever be. S-So just know that it’s not a lack of quality; it just takes some time before something truly kicks off. Y-You’re doing a wonderful job already, kiddo, so pat yourself on the back for that.

I-I sure hope all of this coming from a average programmer like myself helped you some, Engine. I-I’ll be programming on my computer like always if you need me, s-so please don’t hesitate to speak up if you ever need to again.

Angie thinks that tagging a few kin blogs you know of in an introductory post and asking for a promo might work... You can always rely on what Mr Fujisaki said, too! Getting your friends involved can really boost the attention you recieve!

Atua says to make sure that you enjoy the content you’re creating- if you like it, then that’s great! He thinks that if you make lots of the same content then people who enjoy that content might get drawn to you- but do be careful about posting too much of the same! If it gets boring for you, it’s most likely boring for them, too! Ahhh, and of course, make sure to be creative! You could do a challenge or something else that draws people’s attention! And remember, if this doesn’t work out, you can always create a new blog!

TIME FOR ANOTHER SELF PROMO HAHAHA.

Y’all thought I was done, but SYYYKE.

I’m desperate and broke, so I’ll be promo-ing this shit until I die. :’)

SO HERE IS MY ETSY SHOP, Y’ALL.

Last time I posted a link, I hadn’t posted a whole lot yet on there.

BUT NOW, I got necklaces, earrings, pendants, and I EVEN HAVE SOME SOAPS UP.

Granted, it’s only one kind of soap for the moment, but I am in the process of getting a new batch of soaps together, and I already have a whole other batch of other soaps to post ( as soon as I remember to actually take photos of them, lmao. ) so even more soap will be up very soon!

Including what is already posted on my shop, I also have about... six or seven new necklaces to put up as well! They will be posted over the course of the next few days, though these newer ones have not yet been charged as there’s been no full moon this month of February.

As I said in my last post about this--

I unfortunately cannot afford currently to ship internationally, but I can ship to the United States! I’m not expecting anyone here to actually buy anything, but it would be INCREDIBLY wonderful if you guys wouldn’t mind at least sharing this around and spreading the word.

Due to my financial situation, I would be ridiculously grateful if you could help me out with exposure. It would really help me greatly.

I cannot stress this enough. If you want to understand why I am Desperate ™, there is a post here explaining some of the reasons. So PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, SPREAD THIS AROUND. Guidelines

Instead of making a special page for this (because every time I’ve made a rules page on other blogs, I always end up hating the way it looks 0.5 seconds after I finish it), I’m just going to make a post here. This will probably be more of a ‘what to expect on this blog’ kind of thing as opposed to actual rules, so let’s call it a Head’s Up page:

First and foremost, CREDIT! The image serving as this blog’s self-promo goes to the very talented Tervola, and image on the blog’s background was made by Aegirine.

As stated in my description, this is an independent roleplaying blog. I am happy to interact with anyone who is interested in writing with me, whether we are mutuals, canon or OC, in the same fandom, or -- not. I just want to write, so if you’re up to it, let’s do this!

Minor godmodding is a-okay by me. Like, if you’re writing an ask or starter and need my character doing/saying something specific, go for it! If it’s a simple action -- your character asks mine to pass something, it’s alright to assume it’s been handed over. As long as it does not stretch beyond that, we’re good!

I read everyone’s rules page before I follow the blog. No exceptions. One thing I don’t do is send in passwords, phrases, or whatever folks are using these days, because if makes me super anxious for...okay, I really don’t know why, but it does. But, rest assured that, if you see ‘rafiiiq started following you’, your rules have been read. And probably read again when we start a thread, ‘cause I’ve been known to do that.

I tend to use small text and icons, on top of bare-minimum formatting. This is not set in stone, and I certainly don’t expect my partners to use the same. If you need me to change the small text thing around for our thread or an ask you sent, PLEASE don’t hesitate to let me know! I’ll be more than happy to use normal text (and will probably make a note of it for future threads/asks/etc).

Constructive criticism is welcome (and I’ll probably ask for it every now and then!). Hate is not. Hate sent to me will be laughed at, deleted, and the sender will be blocked. If you cannot conduct yourself like a decent human being, you’re a waste of time and I’m not going to acknowledge you. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but sending hate is just so stupid, cowardly, and childish, I’m am absolutely fed up with seeing it around. So, yeah, just don’t.

Everything on this blog will be tagged, no exceptions. I am 21+ and perfectly comfortable writing numerous kinds of NSFW material which, needless to say, will likely appear on this blog from time to time. Violence, gore, smut, darker themes, and the like -- it’s all fair game. But, again, it WILL be tagged as (without parentheses): NSFW //, (subject) cw, (subject) //, (subject) for ts, and (subject) tw. Rarely will I reblog or post images that are of anything but my muse on here, so you should be pretty safe as far as that goes. Still, the same applies in the unlikely case that I do post a thing.

If there’s something you want tagged, send a message and let me know. I will not post your message (or, anything you send me OOC, unless it’s for a prompt or you specifically say ‘please post this’. Mun-to-mun communication is between you and I, not us and the dashboard), but I will make a note to tag whatever it is in future posts.

Shipping: While it’s certainly not the only reason I’m here, I’ll admit that I love to ship as much as the next person, provided the chemistry is there between our muses. If you’re feeling a thing, don’t hesitate to lemme know! Chances are, I’ll be 110% up for giving it a shot, at least.

Speaking of prompts, I love them. Rarely will a day go by that I don’t reblog a thing, ‘cause I think they’re awesome ice breakers (and some of my all-time favorite RP threads have sprung up from memes). So yeah, if I reblog a thing and you want to send something in? Do it. I don’t care if our muses have never spoken, I don’t care if it’s awkward -- if you want to send it, send it.

Replies: I am in the process of recovering from a rather serious illness, and the treatment for it saps a lot of my energy. I'm also semi-back to work, for the time being (can’t quite manage more than that just yet ; ;), so it’s safe to say that my replies will be slow as hell. Patience is greatly appreciated and will be extended to each and every one of my partners.

Contact: Chatting OOC helps spark my muse (seriously, there is nothing more that I love that screaming with my partners about our characters over Skype. Best thing ever), so I’m certainly not hesitant about giving out my contact info. You are, of course, more than welcome to contact me via Tumblr’s methods, if you prefer. Otherwise, if you’d like my Skype handle, just shoot me a message! But, I do ask that if you add me, please let me know who you are. Playing the whole ‘creep or not creep’ game is only fun so many times :p I also pop in on my personal blog from time to time, so...that’s a thing, too.

I’m also really, really shy, so...if we’re chatting and I suddenly go quiet, it’s because I suck at conversation and probably have no idea what to say. Or, some kind of work thing has come up and I had to step away in a rush, which..actually happens quite a bit, admittedly. Either way, I apologize ahead of time.

And that should cover it! As situations arise, I will update this, but for the time being, it’s good enough. I...think? In any case, I’m looking forward to meeting you all, and if you have any questions/concerns/etc, feel free to send them my way!
