i need to write a fic that's basically asterix the legionary but wt. two to three members of the away team have to join the afto military for Plot Reasons but unfortunately the two to three who volunteered care the last about organized authority. current contenders for Funniest Combination are Inukai and Katori, Osamu and Chika and Tachikawa, Tachikawa and Yuiga (a man can dream), and Osamu and Kikuchihara. Yuma and Hyuse can't come because they are Known. this infiltration effort is run by teenagers and it's chaos.

The way this moment just absolutely sucker-unched me in the chest. The deep sigh, the slight smile that is threatening to pull at his lips, THE FUCKING TEARS IN HIS EYES. MAYBE HE SHOULD MAKE TWO CHICKEN THIGHS TONIGHT, TURTLE, MAYBE HE SHOULD MAKE TWO CHICKEN THIGHS.

The way Kenji is having trouble processing exactly what is happening right now. This is literally a dream come true for him. This is a tangible, physical, real sign of Shiro's growth in their relationship. Tangible, physical, real proof that Shiro loves him, and you can tell how overwhelmed Kenji feels by this while Uchino's face barely moves. THEY HAVE MATCHING APRONS, TURTLES!!!! MATCHING APRONS!

I cannot for the life of me find a gif of the microexpressive moment i actually want, when Tien is watching the video that Lomfon made and his jaw kinda drops ever so slightly in anger, it's fucking incredible, Suar is a fucking incredible microexpressive actor. But because I can't find that moment, please enjoy the babiest little lovesick eyebrow furrow the world has ever seen. I also just want to note that Title had some killer microexpressions in La Pluie as well, but the best examples of have no gifs :(

The worlds smallest peaceful, happy, contented smiles. I love them so much. Our Dining Table is absolutely packed full of micro-expressions, and I love that for it and love it for that!

The disgust, the anger, the incredulity, the retreat all from a fucking eye blink and swallow. Film is next fucking level, especially if you compare even just how he smiles in Khun Chai as Tian with how his smiles as Charn in Laws of Attraction. That man can be a completely different person with the same exact expression on his face from his eye shine alone.

This show is by the same director/screenwriter as 180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us as such I have high doubts that this will actually end up being remotely close to a BL, but I have been really impressed and interested in Q as a character because he's not super expressive, especially in contrast to Sunshine but there is such a heaviness and grief to him.

Just cause I don't think 7 Days Before Valentine is going to end up being a BL, I'll do an extra. Full disclosure, I did not like Dangerous Romance and I dropped it before it finished airing, but Chimon did an incredible job looking disassociative at the end of Episode 2, and I am impressed by the singular eye twitch that acknowledges that Sailom is reactive to pain stimuli.

Not a BL so I'm not really gonna add anything about it here, but I just want to say that Singto is the King of Microexpressions and I was incredibly impressed by how much I got out of Dan in Shadow with just the slightest movement of Singto's ear.

Suddenly, I got this hankering to re-watch Kei x Yaku for Inukai Atsuhiro. The first time around, I watched it for Suzuki Nobuyuki, it was shortly after I watched High & Low. But then I watched Kamen Rider Build and fell hard for Inukai Atsuhiro. And now I want to re-watch KxY for him. BTW, Shiro & Ichiro's relationship kinda reminds me of Lanzhu & Jiushi's relationship in The Spirealm, the dynamic is very similar...

Our Dining Table Ep 4 Stray Thoughts

Last week, I felt my heart grow three times when we saw the moment Minoru fell completely for Yutaka. We watched Yutaka connect with a coworker to learn a new skill so he could keep his promise to Tane to make a bento, which called back to the eggs scene in his the movie for me. We also got to see their plans for Tane go awry again and force them to adapt. I'm in love with this show and everyone in it.

I am once again begging the Japanese distributors to give better files to Gaga and Viki. The artifacts and ghosting are so distracting.

Yutaka being adopted adds an unexpected layer to this. Has he felt out of place in family dynamics his entire life?

I think Yukata made the bento picture his lock screen image. Beautiful.

I usually don't enjoy this heavy use of flashback, but I understand that we're seeing Yutaka think about how he feels included and welcome in the Ueda house.

Damn, Minoru has it bad. He had to turn completely around at Yutaka saying he was happy to see him.

I like how everyone eats in a way that doesn't feel performative. They look like they're genuinely enjoying food.

YES! LET'S MAKE CURRY!

I wonder if Inukai and co. learned more about food on this show. Nishijima talked about improving the food he made for his family after playing as Shiro.

Sweet potatoes in curry? I don't normally like sweet potatoes that much, but I'm curious.

I'm impressed with Inukai and Iijima. That was a really smooth single take walking through the food mart with Maeyama. They are working really well with this young actor to create a strong group dynamic.

Ah, Yutaka's older brother has no idea about how Yukata feels.

So Yutaka's older brother didn't want him around and they didn't even teach him how to eat these fancy meals. This is awful.

I like them having Tane peel the onions. I think it's important to get kids comfortable with food prep early so they can share in the joy of making something good together.

Now we're putting chocolate in curry??

I do love that you have to pay closer attention to body language and facial expressions in Japanese shows. You can appreciate the intricacies of the performances that way.

I don't know how often Minoru gets praise for his cooking, but he seems genuinely touched.

Damn, they didn't save any curry for the dad.

Hey, they also have Tane helping clean up.

Aw Papa Ueda meant that Yukata was welcome, but he doesn't have any positive experiences with that.

I feel bad for Minoru too. He likes Yutaka, but doesn't know him well enough yet to cheer him up.

Iijima is doing so much with his eyes and mouth. I'm obsessed.

Well, despite the sadness of this episode, it looks like we're back cooking together next week! Chin up, folks!
