what's your favorite music genre? oh, i like songs about two people, possibly lovers, actively destroying each other in every way possible. i like songs where they're both miserable and lamenting about how they're so screwed. full on tallahassee misery

Come down and waste away with me
Down with me
Slow, how you wanted it to be
I'm over my head
Out of her head, she sang.

If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you

Songs with pretty small-ensemble acoustic arrangements
Time for more song recs babey!! really oddly specific title but it was about as close as I could get to the content of the post
Itomori Highschool by RADWIMPS (Bgm from the movie "Your Name")
Favorite Parts: Rising string duo line at (1:16), cello line at (1:21)
First of all, great movie. amazing movie. second of all,
No further questions your honor
Everlong (Cover) by Miracles of Modern Science
Favorite Parts: Whole second verse (1:49-2:12) and the slow trill during the bridge (2:47)
I love the call and response lines between the vocals and the strings in the second verse. something about those high, akward-ish sounding pitch falls really tugs at my heartstrings.
Bonnie Wait by Vulfmon
Favorite Parts: Vocal melody at (1:20), rising bits at (1:54) & (2:20)
I love the vocal melody sticking to the 7th on the I chord (see timestamp). the way it rubs against everything else just hits me in a way.
I love the fluttery wind arrangement that pops up into the spotlight now and then (see timestamps), along with the low bass(?) clarinet(?i think) part that joins in with the second verse. plus the sad but still silly lyrics capture the vibe well.
there's also some light pitch wobble from tape/a tape effect that's especially noticable in the last chord.
I'm also always a sucker for II major in a major key.
I like talking.
Lava Landing (Cover) by The Hit Points
(This entry is formatted a bit differently)
Favorite Parts:
(1:26) [pretty plucky part] I love this banjo line sooo much holy carp ❤️❤️🐟🐟
(1:42) [solo] cool banjo solo.
(2:09) [dobro] epic triumphant dobro mini-solo
(2:38) [beat] I like the groove they added here
(2:55-3:12) [unison lead] self explanatory; awesome and a bit sad sounding
I enjoy that this cover gets the rhythm of the bassline in the grand part correct. it bothers me an irrational amount when people don't.
Really pretty arrangement. they did an amazing job in adapting a solo piano piece to a 7-instrument bluegrass outfit.
Kirby's Epic Yarn is peak
That's it for today! as always, feel free to mention some stuff you think fits on this list!

Nandi Bushell gets a special message from Dave Grohl
6 days ago, Dan Povenmire's vid about Nandi Bushell's drum battle with Dave Grohl, got me relistening to Foo Fighters songs, and I've had Everlong stuck in my head since. It's great.💖
