@bioloyg posts about the panic attack scene and strange currencies meta really got me fired up lmaoo. I'm not sure if anyone has pointed this out yet but if yall have, do let me know!
Interestingly enough, the song doesn't end when Carmy's panic attack stops; instead, it continues into a scene where we see Sydney checking up on her friend's restaurant. The lyrics at this point go:
"Now, fool might be my middle name,
But I'd be foolish not to say..."
Outro ( instrumentals)
These lyrics appear to foreshadow the under-the-table scene.
I would like to draw attention to the fact that the instrumentals in the original song and the version used on the show differ significantly after these lyrics are sung. The show's version promptly integrates an outro into the song following these lyrics, effectively concluding both the song and the scene. Additionally, this version stops abruptly in the middle of a verse. These intentional musical choices effectively highlight these specific lyrics. They could have chosen a part of the song with a codetta or coda to actually end off the scene but they chose to manufacture an outro right after those specific lyrics are played.
“Now, fool might be my middle name”
- URM CARMY FUCKING UP THIS WHOLE SEASON, ABANDONING THE RESTAURANT, SYDNEY ETC. It can also allude to the fact that he hasn't been able to recognize that he's in love with Sydney, that he has been subconsciously in love with her, but he hasn't been able to decipher these feelings—him being a fool when it comes to his feelings for Sydney.
“But I’d be foolish not to say..”
- Despite struggling to decipher his feelings for Sydney, Carmy realises the importance of acknowledging her significance in his life, especially after she indirectly brings him peace and grounds him during the panic attack. He understands the necessity of admitting to Sydney that he values her and, more importantly, that he needs her. While it's uncertain if he sensed Sydney's growing unease about their partnership, the fear of her leaving again ( consequence of being foolish) might have intensified his need to express these sentiments. And so, during the under-the-table scenes, he pours his heart out to Sydney.

I don't know why you're mean to me
When I call on the telephone
And I don't know what you mean to me
But I want to turn you on
Turn you up, figure you out
I want to take you on
These words, you will be mine
These words, you will be mine, all the time
Now fool might be my middle name
But I'd be foolish not to say
I'm going to make whatever it takes
Ring you up, call you down, sign your name
Secret love, make it rhyme
Take you in and make you mine
These words, you will be mine
These words, you will be mine, all the time
I tripped and fell, did I fall
What I want to feel
I want to feel it now
You know with love comes strange currencies
And here is my appeal
I need a chance, a second chance, a third chance
A fourth chance, a word, a signal
A nod, a little breath
Just to fool myself, to catch myself
And make it real, real
These words, you will be mine
These words, you will be mine, all the time
These words, you will be mine
These words haunt me, hunt me down, catch in my throat
Make me pray, to say love's confines, oh

STRANGE CURRENCIES: CHANCE AFTER CHANCE
Remember how strange currencies would play and we'd focus on "Make you mine all the time," thinking about Syd? Oh so romantic???
Tumblr media
Well this part
"And now with love come strange currencies. And here is my appeal. I need a chance, a second chance, a third chance, a fourth chance. A word, a signal ..."
Maybe those chances refer to relapes. (TIME OUT OF JOINT)

Strange currencies - a Drarry fic
Tumblr media
Strange currencies | M | WIP
“Hullo Malfoy,” Ron said with a grimace. “Take a seat, will you? You’re not going to like this.” “I thought as much.” Malfoy smiled, an understated, wry thing, and pulled a chair up to Ron’s desk so that they were facing each other. “So what is it? Evil deeds need sniffing out in Rotherham? Anti-muggle sentiment requires some artificial stoking in deepest, darkest Doncaster?” “I don’t think evil misdeeds only happen up north,” Ron pointed out. He had intended it as a sort of half-joke but Malfoy’s lips stayed pressed shut. “But no, it’s none of that. It’s... actually, it’s quidditch.”
