This is me being super curious and therefore a little greedy (I don’t know about you ofc but answering these seems to require some thinking) 😝😂 But 7, 8, 11, 16, 19, 21, 25 for meta asks 😇
No such thing as greedy in this case. XD
I already answered 7 and 11 here.
8. Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read?
In terms of genres? Not really. In terms of tropes? Pretty much, yeah.
What I mean is that my favorite genres to read are fantasy and murder mysteries and while some fics involving magic could pass for fantasy, that is rarely the point in them. I mostly write drama and romance and those are two genres that I HATE to read. I don’t know how to explain that. Maybe it’s some sort of “I can do better” or it is “I can’t find what I am looking for” that is prompting me to write the genres that I don’t read.
Now in terms of tropes I like to write what I like to read - angst, smut, enemies to lovers (or lovers to enemies... or both for the same couple XD), arranged marriage, love-hate, forced intimacy and just all that fun stuff. I’m not much of a tropes person, though, so generally I just write the story that pops into my brain without thinking about what tropes it contains and whether that is what I would like to read atm. I mean, it is what I would like to read if I am writing it. It’s just that I feel like I am looking for pretty specific things that are hard to find in someone else’s writing so I end up writing all the time and barely reading.
16. Tried anything new with your writing lately? (style, POV, genre, fandom?)
I have been a bit stuck on... everything lately so I wouldn’t say that I have tried anything new. I have some ideas that still need outlining that are new, however. There is a new ship that I will try to write about but I still haven’t figured out where that idea is going and how to get to the endpoint while keeping it in character. So there is still work on that one. Also, some prompts for Whumptober have picked my interest and I might try to do something with them which is not usually my area. However, that probably won’t be soon because I am allegedly preparing for Kinktober. I say allegedly because everything is resisting so I don’t know if things will happen the way I want them to or at all. Should Kinktober go as planned, though, there will be some things there that I also haven’t tried writing before but those are more subject matters rather than writing techniques.
19. Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)
“When” has driven me to despair lately. I noticed how often I have been using it and I just wanted to die because of that. It’s horrible when it’s used three times in a sentence (also an obvious sign that I should write shorter sentences) so I am working on fixing that.
“Keep” is also a fucking criminal that I need to keep catching amongst my writing but that one is definitely more under control.
A common theme (especially in the Domme AU) is trust. If you haven’t gotten sick of it already, you will by the time I am done with that verse.
21. What other medium do you think your story would work well as? (film, webcomic, animated series?)
Well, different things for different stories but Dance of Devotion would work best as a TV series. Same (and even better) for the Sci-Fi AU because that has actual plot outside of the romance.
Sparks of Life could probably work as a comic because it is more of a separate moments that happen in the same universe kind of story rather than something that has solid plot connecting all parts.
The siren AU could probably work as a movie.
25. What part of writing is the most fun?
For me coming up with the story is definitely the most fun. So why write it then? Because that way it is finally solidified and “coming up with it” keeps happening until the last word is written. Things definitely change once you get to putting them down on paper and all of that is part of the development of the story. Writing the actual words down can be a real pain sometimes but until it is all on the page, the story isn’t really completed so I guess the whole process is fun even if it also frustrates me to no end sometimes. And having to change details to fit them in the correct places while writing can slow you down but it is also interesting to observe how the story takes shape and what you need to do to help it come to life. I really love all of it but it can also get on my nerves so much sometimes.
