The adaptations of/canonical stories of games with multiple playable protagonists should focus on both. I adore Yokai Watch but the anime did Katie so fucking dirty and, by proxy, her and Nate's friendship. In the games, they feel like genuine friends who run in the same circle. But not in the anime, and I'm upset because they totally could've had them BOTH be the protagonists who are given watches and made to interact with the world and each other in a unique way to the games but instead Katie's just this girl Nate has a crush on with a tiring joke about him being average. They don't even feel like friends in the show, it feels like they have mutual friends in Bear and Eddie and that's how they run in the same circles. Boo.

I finished the special story in Connections and it got me to bawl my eyes out so bad. That story was so much more meaningful and emotional and impactful than the entirety of Naruto itself. What the fuck do you mean it was written by Kishimoto????? He did NOT write something for a side story in one of the ultimate ninja storm games and make it better than anything he's ever done before. (tbh, right now, it makes sense for them to release her now-- the 10th anni for Rebellion. It falling on the 6th anniversary for a devil joke is just the cherry on top)

but I guess even so, I still hoped they'd like. Do good for her? Do cool things for her? Like they did with Ultimate Madoka. Cool new... pretty much everything, aside from her side story being a recap. Awesome transformation animation.

...but even if it is for the 10th anni, they managed to still have Devil Homura feel like... just. A cash grab entirely. Which yeah, gacha, yadda yadda whatever. But it feels worse here since she was such an anticipated unit, but everything about her feels... lazy. The movie clip transformation, her chibi sprite seeming kind of... off in the 'hm. maybe should have been refined a little more' way (that one headtilt expression is just Weird and not in the cool way)

and like. her Second Magia. I love the idea of it. I'm even fine with the overwhelming the world part. But the hand... the fist, like. We all know that's directly cut and pasted from her grabbing Kyuubey in the movie, right? And I can't be the only one who thinks it looks kind of... sloppily greenscreened / masked / cut out, right...?
