The Bold Type!
Tumblr media
Who doesn’t know Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Chairperson and MD of Biocon or P.V. Sindhu who got numerous badminton accolades home? Women in India are continuously setting their mark in various fields and increasingly establishing their presence and power in various political and economic domains.
But the question is, is this enough? Even after 75 years of independence, is this growth sufficient and worthy of being complacent with? 16th December 2012 (“Nirbhaya” Rape Case) still repeats itself every day and we just skip those articles in news apps and papers as a routine while sipping our tea. India still tops the chart when it comes to female feticide and domestic violence.
Women need motivation, support and the required resources to climb the ladder of success. We can’t be content with mere examples of limited accomplished females anymore. Women from both urban and rural areas and from all the income groups need to be independent in all the three aspects: financially, emotionally and physically. And sure, we need education, proper healthcare and equality in opportunities for that, but we also need something more which is often unspoken about.
It’s simple! We need a community of women empowering other women. We definitely require a platform where women see other female warriors coming out of similar restrictions to pursue their dreams or people openly talking and discussing issues they were always asked to be shut about. We need a place of comfort for them, where they feel heard, respected and empowered and where stories aren’t censored for being too bold, where articles are published without the ‘required’ edits and where women know that toleration and being silent is not an option anymore.
TASK AT HAND

5. Marketing strategies with special emphasis on ways to target the male audience as the reader of your magazine
6. Strategies to generate sources of revenue from the magazine
7. Design a cover page for your magazine
You are free to add any other extra deliverable as per your discretion.
Hint: Put creativity at your best!

Shark Tank India Season 3 Unveils a Dozen (12) Sharks in the Tank
The third season of Shark Tank India is all set to make a splash with a larger panel of judges. The popular business reality TV show is scheduled to premiere on SonyLIV this January, featuring 12 sharks, including six new additions to the panel.
Tumblr media
The latest entrants into the world of Shark Tank India include prominent figures in the Indian business landscape. Ronnie Screwvala (co-founder of upGrad), Radhika Gupta (CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund), and Varun Dua (founder of Acko), will be joining the show as new sharks.
They will be sharing the tank with familiar faces such as Ritesh Agarwal of OYO, Deepinder Goyal of Zomato, and Azhar Iqubal of Inshorts. Returning sharks from the previous seasons include Aman Gupta (boAt), Anupam Mittal (Shaadi.com), Vineeta Singh (SUGAR Cosmetics), Peyush Bansal (Lenskart.com), Namita Thapar (Emcure Pharmaceuticals) and Amit Jain (CarDekho).
However, not everyone is thrilled about the increased number of sharks. Former Shark Tank India judge, Ashneer Grover, voiced his skepticism about the expansion on social media, referring to it as an “audition of sharks for Shark Tank 4.” Grover, who left the show more than a year ago, questioned whether more sharks would mean better quality.
This comment prompted mixed reactions from fans, with some expressing a desire to see Ashneer Grover return to the show. Others felt that the show lost some of its appeal after the first season and speculated about potential budget constraints that led to the need for more investors.
Shark Tank India, the Indian adaptation of the popular American show Shark Tank, has been a success since its inception. The show provides a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas to potential investors, offering them the opportunity to secure investments and turn their visions into reality.
With the addition of new sharks, Shark Tank India Season 3 promises to continue providing an inspiring platform for budding entrepreneurs. As we approach the premiere date, audiences eagerly await another season of exciting pitches and life-changing investment opportunities. Stay tuned!

C16 Biosciences’ Palm Oil Substitute Spurred by Eco-Destruction
Tumblr media
Based in Southern California, SP Investment Fund LLC maintains an extensive portfolio of multifamily properties and takes positions in early stage technology companies. One of the companies in SP Investment Fund LLC's portfolio is C16 Biosciences, a company that recently brought groundbreaking eco-friendly products to market that contain palm oil substitutes.
The company's roots go back to three Harvard classmates searching for a theme for a final business plan in the Revolutionary Ventures: How to Invent and Deploy Transformative Technologies. The team members were committed to employing biology in tackling climate change. However, their initial ideas proved unfeasible.
Brainstorming, one member talked about a trip to Singapore, where the city had been blanketed in a deep haze due to forest fires in Indonesia used to clear land for plantations. This triggered a story by another member of flying to Costa Rica and being confronted by palm plantations stretching across a once lush rainforest environment as far as the eye could see.
The conversation brought home that palm harvesting was a mega industry with major environmental implications worldwide. As co-founder David Heller describes it, with palm the leading global source of vegetable oil and demand only growing, many palm producers have "inappropriately seized land [and] slashed and burned tropical rainforests to the ground." This decimates wildlife and forces indigenous people to leave, resulting in vast monocultures of single-crop plantations. Through this destructive land conversion process, a gigaton of CO2 is produced annually as well.
The C16 Biosciences approach combines fermented sugars and oil-producing yeast in 50,000-liter tanks to produce torula oil. This has yielded a Palmless cosmetic brand that will stand as a cost-competitive alternative to palm oil as economies of scale are attained.

Snapchat boosts hiring as it crosses the 200 million monthly active users mark
Tumblr media
Snapchat, the popular social media app that lets users send disappearing messages and create fun filters, has achieved a major milestone in India. The company announced that it now has over 200 million monthly active users in the country, making it one of the leading global growth markets for Snap Inc.
India is a key market for Snapchat, as it has a large and young population that is eager to express themselves online. The company has been investing heavily in localizing its platform and catering to the preferences of Indian users. Some of the initiatives that have helped Snapchat grow in India include:
Launching culturally relevant content, such as Snap Originals, Shows, Games, and Bitmoji TV, that feature local celebrities and creators.
Developing a vibrant and creative local creator community, with over 120 million Indian Snapchatters watching content across Stories and Spotlight. Spotlight, Snapchat’s user-generated entertainment platform, has seen significant growth in India, with time spent on the feature more than tripling. This has empowered a new generation of creators to build audiences and monetize their content.
Introducing innovative products and features, such as My AI, a fun chatbot that can give recommendations for birthday gifts, plan trips, or find recipes for dinner. Snapchatters in India also have access to My AI.
Leveraging its core strength in augmented reality (AR), with over 85% of Snapchatters using Lenses to visually express themselves during festive months in India. Snapchat has also partnered with various brands and organizations to create immersive AR experiences, such as Flipkart, Sugar Cosmetics, MyGlamm, Sony TV, Zee TV, and Android smartphone vendors.
Snapchat’s success in India reflects its vision of being a camera company that reinvents the way people communicate and experience the world. The company has also revealed that it is expanding its team and operations across a variety of roles to better serve Indian Snapchatters.
Snapchat’s co-founder and chief executive Evan Spiegel said at a virtual event on Wednesday: “We have made significant investments to localize the Snapchat experience for the Indian community. We have added culturally relevant content, developed highly active and creative local creator communities and invested in local products, marketing initiatives and language support. Following these efforts to bring a localized experience to Indian Snapchatters, we now reach 100 million Snapchatters monthly in India. We will continue to anchor our efforts around celebrating local culture and talent, while empowering, growing and providing resources for our community of Indian creators.”
Snapchat’s growth in India is part of its global momentum, as the company recently reported that it has over 750 million monthly active users worldwide. Snapchat is also one of the most downloaded apps in the world, ranking among the top 10 apps on both iOS and Android platforms

Freeskout is directing towards becoming a leading influencer marketing, and discovery platform.
We have raised INR. 4 Crore in a seed round to evolve the influencer marketing ecosystem and make an effective tech stack by growing the product team and boosting into new markets. We have partnered with Wow skin science, Sugar Cosmetics, The Ayurveda company, Mcaffeine, Nykaa, Country Delight, Belief Cosmetics, LA girl, etc., among its 1000+ clients.
Our company was founded two years ago in 2020, after realizing the potential of the creator space, the gen Zs, who depend on everything online. It’s quite a wide-open market that was baffled by user-generated content (UGC). We recognized the whitespace and launched it with a small unit including our co-founders Lakshay Bhambani, Ashish Bhambani & Shashank Sehrawat and it took us just 4 months to bring revenue of INR 1 Lakh per month. At present, it has beefed up its presence as a reflecting platform and a critical stakeholder in the $10+ B influencer marketing sector, wherein the company rose from INR 1 Lakh to INR 1.5 Crore MRR within a year.
At Freeskout, we work for brands and marketers to boost their returns spent on the entire scene of an influencer campaign. It's been quite a time since influencers have been the essence of every marketing strategy. They are seeking them, checking them, and then employing them to achieve their brand goals.
At Freeskout, we draft out a successful plan for almost every other campaign on social media that may come across like a genuine word-of-mouth movement around the product they work with, simplifying influencer shortlisting, onboarding, and content approvals, streamlining the entire campaign execution cycle!
We also proactively seek new partners, and we place tremendous importance on the initial vetting and overcoming the provoking issues.
That is why we managed to accumulate a 10X growth rate YOY (year-o-year) and are working out to reach an MRR of INR 20 Crores within the next 2 years.
After this fundraiser, our company aims to rev up product development, expand into new markets, and facilitate the customer experience.
At present, we have over 250 experts who deal with influencer marketing campaigns for 1000+ brands. Our database extends to over 10 lakh influencers on Instagram and Youtube.
However, as with any new industry, certain challenges need to be addressed for it to reach its full potential. We will manage to overcome these challenges. With the right strategies in place, we believe that the influencer marketing industry will continue to grow at a rapid pace and make a significant impact on businesses.
If you are looking to implement these growth marketing strategies in your business, Freeskout can be your ally. We could proudly say that it’s one of the top strategic influencer marketing hubs in India, helping brands and companies achieve their marketing goals with ease!
