Gibo to Musume no Blues (2018) / Spy x Family (2022)
Watching this drama have me convinced they're the perfect casts for a live action Spy x Family. Their characters, mannerisms and behaviours are so similar to Yor, Anya and Loid!
Based off the true story of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident that occurred in 2011. It’s the view point of Yoshida, who was the station manager. In real life was a true hero during the incident. The series does a phenomenal job showcasing it, as well as Yakusho Koji performance playing his character. What makes this drama so emotional is the fact that this happened not that long ago and a lot of the issues are still happening til this day, especially those that worked closely are suffering from being exposed to the radiation. The entire series is very well done with solid acting all around.
Let me start by saying that this is nowhere near as good as Shin Godzilla, a movie that I loved. This one is fun and everything, but the pace feels really rushed and it seems like none of the characters were fleshed out properly. Also, I didn't like the structure at all, cause it feels like you are watching four episodes of a TV show instead of one single narrative.
That being said, there are several things that really impressed me. For starters, the film constantly plays around with different types of cameras and angles, which makes it very interesting and enjoyable in terms of visuals. The action scenes are a bit silly, but isn't that the essence of a tokusatsu movie? So yeah, they are pretty fun. The acting is also really good, even if the characters and the writing were kinda underdeveloped. Anyway, I kinda expected more from this creative team, but it's not too bad.
