In Chris Bidmead’s (excellent) novelization of his own (fucking excellent) Frontios, the Gravis does not actually speak, and is instead accompanied by a horrid translation machine made of a corpse (like all their machinery) that finally gives up the ghost when the Gravis pulls the TARDIS interior back together, splattering the thing across the gleaming white walls.
I Reread the Enlightenment Novelization and Have Some Screenshots About It 1
There's gonna be three of these, by the way. I have three different topics I wanna cover, so I'm doing separate posts. This first one is literally just comparing one line of dialogue to the TV version.
So, TV:
Novel:
Since Turlough partially understands the TARDIS, the Doctor eventually lets him touch the console again, so a more general "never disobey me" makes a bit more sense. Nothing else really significant here.

Also, there’s a surfeit of Ncuti Gatwa content for you to enjoy as we hurtle toward The Church on Ruby Road! The aforementioned episode also has a Target book, of…
Alert: this is a very stupid post and not to be taken seriously.
So when it was revealed the first attack on Keyleth was Ludinus trying to test drawing out Vax, folks were pointing out that Ludinus would have had to stay up to date on Vox Machina romances in order to have the information to make that plan, which is very funny. I posit an additional hypothetical: if the preliminary attack had accidentally been fatal for Keyleth herself (I say accidentally because Ludinus would want to wait to execute the plan in full later, so wouldn't have killed her then) then Ludinus would have lost his bait and would have to figure out another way to draw out Vax.
And you know what that means. Matchmaking. Get the sad bird man to fall in love again so he can threaten the new person. Ludinus using every iota of his skill in manipulation and patience and influencing of events to set up Situations, and he needs it because as a celestial champion Vax is not just walking around into your average coffee shop. He becomes the king of tropes. He reads trash romance to get ideas and runs into Caleb at a naughty book store in Rexxentrum and it's very awkward for both of them. With centuries of experience and villainy, HOW has it come to this-
I've had it with "isekai female protagonist can only be a healer, defender, uwu waifu, otome protagonist or has to *tame* the obviously abusive aristocrat love interest who is only shitty because of some bullshit patriarchal humbug and who is the ultimate *prize* of heteronormative marriage with same-same gender roles" BAH
NO
isekai where a woman is reincarnated as a male orc lord, learns how to use her new strength and confidence to her own self-validation and newfound identity, and proceeds to romance the kind-but-shy muscle himbo prince who was originally set on killing said orc, only to dismantle the archaic monarchy altogether with her supportive boyfriend, bound by love and swords in battle THIS IS WHAT I WANT
Yk when you’re watching a children’s cartoon that’s really good but there are moments when you sort of cringe because a character says something in a way that reminds you it’s a kid’s show? Like the writing is too on the nose, too simplistic, too predictable, and you have to take a step back and remember not to be so harsh because you’re not the target demographic? Why do I constantly feel that way when watching Hazbin Hotel
“The Doctor talked about his better qualities - his intelligence, and his occasional wit and good humor” ffs can you imagine how much the Brigadier fucking drank during this trial.
Doctor Who and the Sea-Devils, by Malcolm Hulke (king)
I'm planning to go to the Who North America store/museum in June, if so I will have a big old haul video to show you guys. Until then I am saving up money for the trip and figured I would show the Target books I've gotten since my last video (because I won't be buying any more for a minute)
People on BookTok will unironically diagnose every woman who reads smutty books with a porn addiction and call everyone who disagrees with their puritanical standards for books a gooner and then pat themselves on the back for being so moral and enlightened as if they're actually going to achieve anything of substance by doing this.
