Pitch Manor Progress (which is sort of like Six Sentence Sunday but also not)

It's still Sunday for five more minutes, here. SO....

Okay, I haven't written anything on the Haunting of Simon Snow in awhile. But I have been working on my floor plan for Pitch Manor, which is more than tangentially related to the potential progress of that fic. And today's a rough one for me, so I'm going to post about it like it's progress so I might feel a tad better. Ahem.

OKAY. SO. I've been working on a floor plan for Pitch Manor for... pretty much forever and a day. I ran into trouble when I was writing chapter 2 of Haunting and Simon (Construction Worker!Simon) began to describe the house. I realized... I had no idea what he was describing.

(Warning, there is a long winded geeky ramble ahead. It's just how I do things. Ahem.)

What was supposed to be a quick "let's find a floor plan that I can just copy with some minor adjustments" project has since turned into my special interest project. As a history nerd, that means a lot of research, looking at dozens of floor plans for other houses ranging in origination from the 16th century to the 20th (and probably a few older than even that, since a ton of religious buildings were repurposed into estates. Think Downton *Abbey*.)

But this past week, I feel I've really pushed through a lot of the issues I kept running into. (I've ridiculously been trying to make it as true to the descriptions in Carry On as possible, and something that fits the purposes of my fic, which of course I have envisioned in many, sometimes incompatible, ways.) I've had to make some "this or that, you can't have both" choices, but I'm finally happy with the basic shape and layout.

Whew.

Just for funsies, here's a cross section snippet of my floor plan WIP. It's pretty messy still, but I'm still excited LOL

And (finally), instead of six sentences, I will instead offer you all six tidbits of information about Pitch Manor, as I've envisioned it:

There are four (4!) different sitting rooms. Because the aristocracy just loved their sitting rooms. (Parlor, Withdrawing room, Drawing room, and Reception/Receiving room.)

There is a ballroom. Try and stop me.

The original manor house was built in the 17th century, and has been refurbished and updated a few times.

The most extensive refurbishment happened in the 19th century, which is how it gained its current stylings. (Baz is a freaking troll and I love him for it. The most popular architectural style in the Victorian era was "Gothic Revival." "It's not Gothic; it's Victorian." Hah.)

Some rooms were added on during the Victorian refurbishment, including a Smoking room. They were very popular at that time.

The largest room in the house isn't the ballroom. It's the library. (It's two stories. Try and stop me.)

(I do hope to release the floorplans into the fandom wild after they're complete, in case anyone else wants to make use of them.)

I want to ramble more. But it's almost midnight. Sooo.... Gratitude and hellos under the cut!

TFW parenting, and pep-talking Jack:

Hey, Sammy DOES come into the domain of Jack's bedroom to act as Jack's father! It's in 14x01, when Dean is missing. :-) (TBF, He does this in 13x03 Patience too but that wasn’t well-received/was perceived by Jack as glib and fake.)

Anyway! This whole episode, Jack is pretty successfully being raised by The Village of Hunters. Everyone steps in: AU Bobby, Mary, Sam, Cas. (Of note, Jack doesn't feel better, really, until he talks to Cas.)

In this episode, Jack laments the loss of his powers.

In the Sam scene, Sam tries his best to sit with and comfort Jack, and he mostly does okay with that. Interestingly, Sam emphasizes "moving past it," because that's a Sam way of coping. Dissociate and get back to work.

This is a sharp contrast to when Dean comforted Jack about his nightmares in 13x23, which was to tell him, "It's not about being strong," and emphasize taking care of Jack.

Sam in 14x01:

SAM: I talked to Bobby. He says you may have had a rough day today. JACK (sullen, closed off): It was fine. Sam tries some more. SAM: I know it's a lot, I'm sure, but you can get past this. I know you will. I have faith in you, Jack, and I believe in you. (Mary enters; Jack still looks sullen and upset.)

It's a nice attempt, especially for Sam, who comes by connection in a more practiced, careful, "therapizing" manner. The conversation gets interrupted by Nick Vaught waking up. Nevertheless, even before the interruption, Sam's attempt gives off a stilted feeling, like Sam is reading from a self-help seminar.

He says, "You'll get past this," and "I believe in you." Somehow, it doesn't feel like he's coming down to Jack's level and getting real with him, as Dean and later Cas will do.

At the end of the episode, Cas comes into Jack's room, with his own face beaten to a pulp. Cas hasn't healed himself. He's letting Jack see his own weakness here. That it's okay to screw up. They all screw up all the time.

He asks how Jack is, and Jack sullenly mutters (again) that he's fine. Then, Cas tells Jack that he did well, and Jack explodes in a flurry of emotion, easily opening up to Cas: (we’ll see that he is more willing to hurl his genuine emotions at Cas, Mary, Dean…)

JACK: All I did was get punched...in the face! CAS (wryly): To be fair, we all got punched in the face. JACK: That's not--Before, when I had my powers, I-I could've done something. CAS (frankly): Jack, you don't-- you don't have your powers. And you- your grace should regenerate in time. But until then-- JACK: I'm useless. I can't kill demons, I can't find Dean, and Michael is in our world and I can't stop him. I can't do anything. I don't have...anything. CAS: Oh, Jack. That's just not true. You've got me. You have all of us. (touches shoulder) You have...your family. (then, passionately) And we are going to find Dean, and we are going to beat Michael, and we're going to do it together! Because that's what we do.

Cas's message seems to get through to Jack a little better here, though Jack is still uncertain and scared. Cas, like Dean, keeps it real with Jack (just like they keep it real with Claire). It doesn't sound so...canned. (Sorry, Sam. Ilu. You try so hard.)

Cas talks frankly: "Yes, you've lost your powers." He also, like Dean, emphasizes familial support and delivers a message of hope and unshakeable confidence.

Lastly, Jack is in his "Rocky Balboa" era. It's so adorable. I just wanted to point out his lil jogger outfit and make you imagine him training to "Gonna Fly Now." You're welcome.

dumb things i paid attention to in s1 ep17 “eggman the auteur” instead of the actual plot

tails enjoys throwing sonic right into danger, literally

apparently ruining his schemes of taking over the world is fine, but sonic destroying a bot too early in his movie that he could easily rebuild if he really wanted to?? unacceptable

i’m pretty sure this is one of the only times tails (taking after his big bro) actually calls eggman “egghead” (i could def be wrong, but i dont remember him saying it much) 

one of the few times dave actually cared about his food (says lunch is gonna be late because it burned?? since when did you care if food was edible)

amy literally fights eggman at least once a week and was still not expecting the movie he was filming to have dangerous scenes (case in point, she only decides to ask for a stunt man after they come across the first dangerous scene) 

we can of course take knuckles saying he has a knuckles costume as it just being himself, but what if he has an actual knuckles costume?? idk i think it’s kinda funny

eggman’s so desperate for praise he literally built bots to agree with him (though, the yesbots are adorable so im ok with it)

you see sonic’s angry stomps when he goes to tails’ workshop??? and how tails apparently knows how to write a good script??? theater boys, both of them

also i love how chill tails is with sonic storming in just to vent, he’s the best

3 OTPs:

I honestly don't really ship any of the characters in the Sonic series. Don't really know why, but I've never really felt like romance was needed, I just enjoy the friendship and found family between the characters.

I guess the characters I've come closest to shipping are probably Tangle and Whisper from the IDW comics 'cause those girls are pretty dang fruity and it's adorable.

Funniest Character:

I think, consistently, probably Eggman because even when the games had crappy writing, he still had some pretty good lines and Mike Pollock really made them work as best they could.

But also, I quite like Sticks from Sonic Boom, more specifically, the cartoon. But she's great because her character type is the type that could easily become very annoying if not handled correctly but they managed to make her really funny and I hope to see her in more stuff.

Prettiest Character:

I guess probably Blaze? I dunno, I like her colour scheme and her outfit and hairstyle have a regal feeling to them, which makes sense considering she's a princess. Also, maybe Rouge? Her outfit's great, especially the boots.

Most Badass Character:

Shadow, and that's excluding the whole using guns and riding motorcycles from his game. He was already badass, they didn't need to make him do all that stuff.

Character I'd Like As My BFF:

Honestly, it would probably have to be Sonic actually. And to clarify once again, well he's written well. So get the Meta Era Sonic out of here, not him. He's honestly one of the sweetest characters. It's really endearing how much he cares about his friends, but also, he cares too much and ends up putting himself in danger for them. But even without that, he always encourages them when they're down or anxious, he listens when they need someone to talk to, if they've got a sort of rivalry he will playfully tease them and egg them on because he knows they'll do the same right back.

It's honestly kinda funny how, when I was a kid Sonic was the coolest thing ever, but now that I'm an adult, he's the cutest. I just wanna give him a hug.

Character That's Ruined My Life:

It's probably a tie between Shadow and Silver.

Shadow, because his introduction into the series was easily one of the best and he was written so well (like do y'all remember that Shadow actually suffered from PTSD and you can see him experiencing those symptoms??? Sega doesn't.). And then he got an overly edgy game of his own and became a meme of Edgy The Hedgey and then Sega started to actually write him that way and it sucks. Like, honestly after seeing how the main cast were fixed in Frontiers, I am begging for them to fix Shadow next. He needs it. He needs it so bad. Write him well again, please. I am screaming and crying and biting, write him well.

And Silver, because he has so much potential. Like he had the misfortune of debuting in Sonic 06, a game well-known for being just a little bit of a trainwreck... But his personality and convictions and struggles were all really engaging and could very easily work for other stories. But then he appeared in the two Rivals games with some weird changes and it seems like the only storyline they had for him was "His future timeline is in danger so he comes back to Sonic's time to fix it" and the idea of him doing that over and over and over again... That just seems kinda cruel... Which sucks because I know Silver can be so much more.

So I just finished episode 9 and i have so mnay emotions :((((

Well first off, I loved seeing them learning how to be a couple together, they were so adorable omg, with their first dates, and Porsche being so nervous about the novelty of it all and Kinn learning to open again aaawww...And they did an underwater kiss??? The Evak vibes of it all, all gay couples should have an underwater kiss, let's make it a rule ^^ But yeah I really love how their relationship has so much range. They can go from being the cutest goofy couple to be so beautifully tragic, and through that having incredible chemistry! Also I remain on my Porsche-is-meant-to-be-a-mafia-lord agenda, like the way he immediately sees he is at advantage and plays on it during a conversation, even when the person in front of him tries to intimidate him, for exemple when Kinn is jealous in episode 7? And how he manages to command so easily and with so much confidence Kinn, aka the Big Mafia Boss so used to being the one in charge? Sure, the fact that Kinn is super whipped kind of play into that, but I'm pretty sure Porsche could make anyone whipped for him if he wanted to so ^^ (altho i guess the fact that he can't lie to save his life could be disavantage but we'll see if he gets better)

So yeah I loved see their honeymoon phase and I knew it would not last so of course Kinn's dumb ex had to come back >:( He just framed Porsche who, tbf, made it very easy but well I can't blame him poor sweety is just in his first relationship he does not know how to handle jealousy I get that, and again very mafia-vibes to immediately jump on the spying-the-ennemi tactic ;) But i'm 100 pourcent (99 pourcent?) sure that Kinn does not actually believe Porsche betrayed him but had to act like that to save his face as the Big Leader, like he did after Porsche got drugged and Kinn punished him? Also very curious about what Vegas's attentions really are, bc he SEEMS to be sincere with his feelings for Porsche but also is very creepy and defintely sus...Kind of like Kim with Porschay altho in this situation, the fact that he truly is charmed by him is made more evident, and their first kiss was so cute but if he hurt baby chay I swear X((((

Anyway that was my rant, hope you had a good day :)

Oh god yes. The end of ep 9. Porsche's heartbroken 'ai Kinn' repeated over and over. It ruined my life but I also loved it so much because GIVE ME ANGST. Also I was exactly like you in terms of speculating that Kinn was just putting on a show. And I'm guessing by now you know we were correct in that assesment. Still, dumbass screwed up on not telling Porsche from the beginning. Sigh.

Them learning to be a couple and us getting to SEE them be a couple is the absolute best thing. I loved so much that the show allowed them that time. We got to actually see them as giddy boyfriends. Also yes, the gays own the underwater kiss. I don't make the rules. Thems facts.

Your 'Porsche-is-meant-to-be-a-mafia-lord agenda' makes me so happy by the way. I love your assessment and I can't wait for you to see the rest of the season and see how that plays out. Porsche is no wilting flower for damn sure. But I love the back and forth with he and Kinn. Because the love between them makes them both so damn vulnerable and neither of them are used to that. So allowing one another to see that vulnerability and trusting in one another enough to be all in when it comes to their relationship is honestly pretty beautiful. And it's very well demonstrated in scenes like the end of ep 7 (my all time fave scene btw - it just doesn't get better than that mix of love/lust/angst). And p.s. I love seeing big mafia Kinn, as you say, be so totally soft for Porsche. "Whipped" doesn't even cover it lol.

So I will be interested to hear what you think of Tawan (aside from the obvious hate because honestly I wanted to smack the shit out of him from the second he appeared on screen) and that arc. It is one place in the show where I think a lot of potential was lost due to the introduction of other storylines and more rushed pacing. But there's some satisfying stuff for sure (badass Kim!!!!). And oh god... baby Chay. Yes. Must PROTECT!

my five favourite animated movie villains of the past 15 years ( if you wanna share who yours are down below I'd love to read them)

5. Chef from Trolls 2016.

not exactly a complex character by any means she's selfish sadistic and has no real sympathetic qualities at all.

she made herself Rich and Famous by being the head Chef of Bergen town killing and cooking Trolls literally writing a Book on the subject.

and after the Trolls escape and she's Banished from her home forced to live a life of obsessed solitude in the woods for 20 years searching for the Trolls.

she's established in the film as only caring about using the Trolls to get herself back in a position of power as opposed to her actually caring about her people being happy again.

and she's shown being subtly judgmental of King Gristle Jr clearly resenting the fact that he's technically in charge instead of her ( which tbf he is an idiot but his heart is in the right place )

and its clearly established that she can easily twist him around her finger and she wants to basically rule Bergentown from behind the scenes.

so yeah like I said Chef isn't complex or anything for me I like her just because she's so simple in a way she's just a good old fashioned villain who loves what she does and is easy to hate.

and her implied actions in her backstory are pretty Horrifying to be honest.

4. Spot from Across The Spider Verse 2023.

I mean for starters the guy's just adorable lol he's so clumsy and awkward and talkative and just very bad at being bad. 😂😂😂😂

and the situation of his origin is kinda complex enough that I feel bad for him even tho it isn't as cut and dry as him being an out and out victim.

as he was still a criminal scientist working for the Kingpin but him ending up basically disfigured in a way and lumped with powers that he couldn't control at first.

I mean at the start of the film he had next to no control over where his portals went to or when they opened.

like imagine how Horrible that would actually be its like he had Tourette's only his Tick was portals that could literally jump him to anywhere at any given time.

and it is pretty sad how he said because of his condition he couldn't find a Job and his own family were too ashamed to even be around him.

so yeah while he was never exactly an innocent victim he was someone who was way over punished for his sins and it was kinda understandable why he snapped and became worse in the end.

after no one took his pain seriously let alone actually tried to help him.

3. Kingpin from Into The Spider Verse 2018.

two in a Row lol anyway Spider Verse 2018 back when it came out was one of the most pleasant surprises of my life as I had no expectations for this film and I was only really going to see it out of a sense of obligation given I'm a comic fan.

but yeah I ended up loving it and was super surprised by how good I found it and one thing I did love was its version of Kingpin leaving aside his over the top size which is straight up comedic tbh.

he is an enjoyable intimidating presence he has some big feats for a animated PG film namely murdering one of the most famous superheroes of all time on screen.

and later killing our main characters uncle anyway what I mainly love about this version of Kingpin is how similar to the Spot he Tows the line between being sympathetic and unsympathetic.

he lost his wife and son in a tragic car accident due to them running away in fear After seeing him trying to kill spider man so while his life of crime is to blame for him losing them in the first place.

I still can't help but feel bad for a guy who's so desperate he's willing to do anything to get them back and him lashing out in Rage killing spider man

after he tries to warn him about why his plan to bring alternative versions of his wife and son into their universe to be with him won't work was a great way to set up intrigue for his motives earlier in the film.

plus the scene during the final battle where he sees the alternative version of his wife and son and same as his versions they get horrified by him trying to kill spider man and run away.

and he Desperately pleads with them to stay with him like I'm sorry but that honestly made my eyes begin to water both times I saw the film in Cinemas

that scene got the same emotional reaction out of me honestly its sad af 😢😢😢😢

2. Tighten from Megamind 2010.

from Megamind one of my favourite movies of all time not just animated movies anyway Hal I feel is a good example of a villain not Really being at all sympathetic but still being pretty complex.

he's a socially awkward nerd who has a crush on the women he works with as a news cameraman he's the stereotypical underdog who's normally made to be the hero by the end of these sorta stories.

ya know get himself superpowers learn how to use them become a hero stop the bad guy get the girl and live happily ever after.

which is exactly how Hal himself thinks which means when reality doesn't match what he sees as the natural progression of his story he can't accept it.

aka he can't accept the fact that despite getting powers and becoming a hero the women he loves doesn't want to be with him something which she had already made pretty clear to him earlier in the film but Hal just didn't accept it then either.

yeah the guy's pretty Blatantly Misogynistic with how he views Roxanne if he was a modern day character we'd probably refer to him as an Incel.

as the guy shows an entitlement to her and viewing other men who she actually has Romantic feelings for as being in the wrong and in the way of what's Rightfully his.

even before he turns villainous Hal shows signs of being a selfish person underneath so once he Realises being a hero won't get him the woman he wants he very quickly resorts to using his powers for his own gain.

and eventually causes mass destruction to the city planning to destroy the entire place simply out of spite for Roxanne Rejecting him.

so yeah like I said Hal isn't a sympathetic villain at least not in my opinion but he is a fairly complex character.

1. Killian from Spies In Disguise 2019.

underrated film in my opinion and its sad that Blue sky studios was shut down.

anyway I loved Killian even if you don't like the movie overall you gotta admit he was a badass villain he's a Rare case nowadays of a kids movie villain actually being serous and never once making a Joke.

anyway he was intelligent badass Ruthless Killian was allowed to kill someone on screen with other kills heavily implied making him a very serous threat.

he was a lone wolf carrying out his whole plan himself with only machine Drones to help him and his motives are pretty interesting.

I mean not that a guy wanting revenge for lost loved ones is a unique motive but the fact that he's established as being a criminal who was part of a larger criminal crew who were killed by our main character years prior to the main story.

does go well with the movie's little moral Debate on violence and what should and shouldn't be the military and police force's go to level of violence when approaching these type's of criminals.

its interesting because again he isn't 100 percent sympathetic because he and his friends were bad people before who were apparently planning to do bad things.

but at the same time our main character is established as someone who's go to choice for dealing with criminals is excessive violence and he even makes jokes out of killing criminals and has fun with it.

with him at the start of the film not even being willing to consider that less violent approaches could still work in some situations and that way he could solve some issues without even the bad guys needing to die as at the end of the day they are people as well.

sure some are just set in their ways and they may not be able to be stopped without the more excessive approach.

but that doesn't mean that our main character shouldn't necessarily try I think is the point the movie was making which yeah regardless of your thoughts on the moral point of the movie.

I thought it was an interesting thing for the film to talk about and again despite him obviously being a bad person part of me can't help but feel a bit bad for Killian.

since its made very clear he cared about his old friends to the point that losing them made him say that he'd lost everyone he cared about and he did embark on a years long plan to Avenge them.

so yeah overall just a really solid villain in my opinion.

anyway those are my picks please tell me yours down below if you fancy btw the reason why I chose films of the past 15 years and only 5 picks

is just because I didn't want to make a list that was too long and bloated since I did want to talk a bit about each villain and what I liked about them.

so if I had gone with having a top 10 list or a list that was of all time as opposed to only animated films in the last 15 years then this post would have been way way too long haha 😅😅😅😅

Henri and Taylor were at academy with them and in Loughborough for Henri but taylor got a big car accident and now he is playing for tigers wheelchair. He is super close with George Martin but always tag Jack and Fred as big help during the darkest hours. It is with Henri that Jack was photographed in Norfolk on the beach in this redpink swimsuit :

I do consider myself lucky as I have seen a lot of stuffs already the common mortals were not supposed to see.

Bad Buddy Episode 10 Review

Yes, you read that right, episode 10 review. I was lazy and kept putting a review for this episode off, but I wanted to rewatch it to prepare for episode 11, and thought it was time to do a review. Given the fact that this review is a week late and this show is appropriately popular, I doubt I'm going to make any observations that haven't already been made. However, I didn't look through the tags because I wanted to write my review before doing so, which means I have no idea whether other people have said the same things. So, from the top:

I really appreciated that when Pran saw Pat's folks, his instinct was to run back to Pat, and his face when he realized he couldn't was quite sad. He glanced at the door so many times and it was a little heartbreaking.

I'm not certain how Pat's parents were so easily placated by Pat's story about Pran's friend helping with the case, given that Pa and Pat were super sketchy about the reason that Pran was there at first.

I was confused at Pran being surprised that Pat knew what the drama between their parents was about. Did they just never talk about it? I suppose I could see that, though. If they wanted to be friends, avoiding discussing the reasons they couldn't be makes sense. Like if they don't discuss it, it's like it doesn't exist, almost.

I find it very charming that Pat made Pran's bed(messily, but still), given the fact that we saw that he doesn't bother to make his own bed in the morning(not that I'm judging; if I adjust the covers at all so that they're somewhat covering my bed I'm proud). Also Pat's love of his stuffed animal is utterly adorable.

The declaration of love was amazing. Sometimes with BL couples it's not clear why they like each other or if they even understand each other, so having Pat list all the things he knows about Pran was precious. Especially the part about Pran smelling good. I must add a gif of the expression on Pran's face when Pat said that to my existing post about Pran's various reactions to Pat's obsession with his scent.

Side note: Is it unusual for Thai men to raise the toilet seat when they pee? Because that's just a thing that happens here. I know because it's annoying when men don't lower the seat after using it(and ideally the lid so that when the toilet flushes it doesn't spray an invisible layer of toilet mist everywhere).

Aof is still excellent at using commercials to advance the relationships between characters. Having a drink advertisement be used to break the ice between Wai and Korn was kind of brilliant.

Ngl, I think Korn has a thing for Wai given his reaction to Wai dismissing the idea of being attracted to him.

While I don't love that this is progress, the fact that Pat's reaction to Wai's interest in Pa was essentially "Her love life isn't my business", makes me love both Pat and Aof even more.

I find it utterly hilarious that Chai could see Pat and Pran hiding from him in the music store.

I also find it super funny that Wai spent so much time looking at Pran while he was trying to hit on Pa.

I appreciate that Wai is capable of learning. The fact that he was able to make the connection between Pat's stink eye and Ink's is pretty great.

I can't deal with Pran shooing Pat out of his window super quickly and then they just stop to have a conversation with Pat still right next to the window. These boys.

I very much enjoyed that Pat paid so much attention to Pran that even when he was being punished he was able to remember the exact kind of facial expression that Pran made when he watched Pat being punished. I also liked Pat putting together the fact that Pran might have liked him for a long time.

It's very interesting to me that Pat was wearing a Hawaiian shirt when he confessed to his dad that he and Pran were dating, just like when he almost told Wai the truth about the relationship he and Pran had.

I have rage at both Pat's dad and Pran's mom for abusing their children because of their own drama. Though tbf it's never okay to be verbally or physically abusive with anyone in general.

I love how concerned Chai was about Pran having to deal with his mother and that he offered to stay to be supportive.

Did anyone else notice that Pran set his guitar outside of the house instead of bringing it in with him?

What did Pran mean when he said that he "wasn't like other kids"? It feels like there's more going on with that statement than just his relationship with Pat.

What I really don't understand is why Pran's mom kept the thing about Ming stealing her scholarship a secret. Like, I get why Ming would never mention it, but if she wanted Pran to hate the neighbors it seems like the kind of thing she'd tell him. I know that the show was trying to be subversive about the conflict by not making it a romantic thing, but frankly it would have made a lot more sense than the scholarship thing. And, as other people have pointed out in the few posts I did read about this episode, it's kind of rich for a woman who lives in a mansion to complain about someone ruining her life. Also, where does she get off telling Pat's parents to not tell him to hate the people next door when she did the exact damn thing?

Inkpa is canon! I'll probably make a whole separate post about them though after I watch ep 11. I hope they're in it.

For the most part this episode was really good. Giving it a 9/10 though, simply because of the secrecy of the conflict not making any sense.

The Mandalorian Chapter 12 rewatch thoughts

- I would like to thank them for keeping in din’s harried yet triumphant ‘hAH!!’ when he gets the explosives to stick to gideon’s ship in the ‘hey remember when this happened last season’ section, that was a nice gesture from the showrunners to me personally, I assume

- this episode actually helped me find more enjoyment in the last one, because it’s such a nice reassurance that even though they’re pulling in more stuff from other star wars media this show won’t suddenly stop being its own thing and mando won’t suddenly stop being himself and it’s very comforting to me somehow haha

- the small hesitation before din calls out “do you... do you have the wire?” lol lol lol he’s completely aware of the bizarreness of what he’s doing here but hey being alive is already so damn weird etc. 

the softness of his voice the whole way through and the fact that he never, never blames the baby for not being able to do what shouldn’t really be asked of him in the first place, tho... ;____;  

- the tiny exasperated head tilt din does when he realizes the hatch isn’t going to extend all the way fdslkfhasdlashfs  

- din is looking down at the baby the entire time while greef talks to the mechanics ❤️❤️❤️

(the baby seems pretty drawn to/excited to see greef again and mando seems to notice which is extremely cute. he’s becoming really good at tuning in with the kid) 

he also greets cara baby first in much the same way as he does peli, like he knows what the main attraction here is lol, they do a very sweet bro nod at each other. god I wish gina carano wasn’t so terrible imagine if we could just have this BrOTP without hesitations :( 

I think greef is actually a bit worried to begin with after seeing the ship, he sort of takes din in intently before he huffs a little laugh and grabs his arm. it must be a bit stressful to be his friend and not be able to see his expression right away when you worry something might be seriously wrong haha

- people are finally treating the baby like you would a real baby and it’s such a blessing, everyone talking and cooing at him and baby babbling back

(I wonder if greef has children of his own? he does have an undeniable air of experienced grandpa about him in this episode, it’s adorable)  

- din does so much talking -- unprompted, even! -- these days, it truly is an embarrassment of riches 

- capital E Emotional about this shot with IG-11 right behind din and cara inviting him into the school in front of him. some past carried with us into the future shit going on here

the ‘oh yeah?/that so?’ way din leans his head back after she says “wait until you see inside” is also amazing

- “I’m starting to dehydrate, Boss” is an excellent line and delivered perfectly, I cackle every time (”You park your gills right there until I say otherwise” is a good runner up too) 

- it’s so nice to see the small moments of communication between them in this one after mando was so out of sync with the team in the last one (and tbf those guys didn’t even try to give him any pointers at all, they really left him to flounder through the whole thing if you watch it carefully haha)

- the mythrol’s jacket still looks so comfy, I want one

- aaaaah the way din says “I don’t like this” is just so... hnnngh it’s perfect, there’s a vulnerability and openness to it for a moment. greef glances over at him like he hasn’t heard him sound like this before too, which just sells it even more

you know shit’s fucked up when din djarin expresses an emotion without even being forced to by circumstance (I think what I mean is that it’s actually really rare for him to state how he feels about something just to do it, usually his communication is more practically oriented, more along ‘I think this is the best cause of action because of a and b’ lines, or like when he tells omera he’s grateful it’s... more to inform her of it and make sure she knows than to express himself? but he’s starting to do it more with people he trusts now and it gets me in the heart? man I’m finding this hard to articulate let’s move on lol)

- I really, really wonder about pershing’s position in all of this. his plea for the child’s life did sound genuine -- he did try to guard him with his own noodly scientist body when he thought din was out to hurt him, remember -- but is that only because he knows he’s in deep shit himself without the blood the baby can give? is he maybe not quite cool with whatever gideon has him doing? (he does sound quite strained when he talks about the ‘body’ rejecting the transfusion and the ‘volunteer’ potentially suffering the same fate... hm.)

idk why I want there to be something redeemable in him so bad, maybe it’s just my weird yet enduring attachment to ladon radim in stargate atlantis messing with me they’re kind of similar in some ways (yeah don’t ask me I don’t know either sometimes the heart wants what it wants in ways reason can’t explain)

- tfw ur literally launching yourself across a pool of boiling lava because you’re Dad and your baby’s in danger T__________T he just does not stop running towards that kid for even a single second help

- there’s something so innocently pure and... old fashioned? about the scene with mythrol and greef screaming the entire time they drive off the cliff, it feels like something out of a movie from like three decades ago. that whole segment feels a bit like that, it’s just there to be fun and that’s okay sometimes

- every dog fight in every movie should have a baby nonchalantly snacking on a cookie in them, it elevates the experience immeasurably (he squishes his nose a little bit with the macaron when he misses his mouth at one point, which is more than anyone should be expected to bear honestly)

I love that even all fixed up again the razor crest groans and creaks like an old tired thing when din makes it flip to dive, he 100% did take out a bunch of ferraris in his stalwart morris minor of a spaceship and I treasure him     

- there’s so much life and emotion in din’s voice here I can’t!!!! I simply can’t!!!! imagine if we get to hear him openly laugh one day, would I even survive it??!!!!

 also the kid makes such pitch perfect ‘having my lil nose wiped and whining about it’ baby noises when din uses his cape to clean him up (din does turn the autopilot on before he turns around to deal with it, for those who, like me, worry about these things) 

- between carson showing up and the stuff the droid talks about in the lesson they’re doing quite a bit of outer rim vs. core worlds theme building in this one, I wonder if this is going to ramp up more or what

- god but gideon’s theme SLAPS tho 

he’s probably going to try to fuck up everything I love but you can’t fault him on the tunes he’s going to do it to

as far as it goes, rick only ever killed people, personally n utterly pettily, for jerry’s sake. sure, he blew mort’s molester to pieces, but aside from that, he only ever went after people, who directly killed/tried to kill or harm jerry. i wonder why that. *gasp* totally can’t be, bc he cares about him! unless--! 

unless, it’s so. u_u

i always itching to make a parallel post about how rick’s relationships with tony (4th s) were mirroring the way he treats jerry. just how difficult it is for rick, when ‘the good guys’ are involved. and he finds himself kinda stuck with them, and their willing, pretty much genuine attempt to be friends. this must be so alien to him. not a typical ‘hey, i adore you/look up to you’, but more like ‘wanna do that thing together? it can be fun’. 

tbh, i don’t think, that rick even knows how to be someone's friend. i also don’t think, that he ever made friends via anything, but leaving a long-lasting impression on people. 

you can see it all over the series. even his grandkids fit this category, bc he isn’t a good mentor to them, and he isn’t a good buddy to either of those teens. he just a person, who can be easily seen as cool and aloof. he dominates the space that he occupation, be it with ‘swag’ or knowledge. for time being, this is enough to fool everyone into seeing only ‘good’ parts of him, and ignore the rest of his rick-ness. pretend like it doesn’t sting, or like it’s not even there. 

but when it comes to people, like tony or jerry, i feel like rick not sure what to do with them. he can try to manipulate them like he does with everybody else, but at the same time, he never actually goes along with that. in the pilot, he tried to suck up to jerry, coaxing him into ‘believing’ his words, but when it didn’t work, rick just changed his approach. instead, of trying to be cunning, he for the most part is always honest with jerry. at least, as honest as it can get. 

if you picture rick as a person, who has a ‘script’ for everything inside his head, dealing with guys, like jerry be very frustrating. esp bc sometimes, they seem to understand things, that rick doesn’t. 

and tbf, for all the shit, that rick has done with/to jerry, out of all family, he violates his personal space and his choices way less, than he does anyone else’s. it can be either, bc he has no reasons to do, or it can be bc he backhandly respects jerry to a degree. respects him enough to let him do things himself, perhaps. but it also can be, bc if rick will start to try and control jerry, drag him into things, he won’t be able to stop.

- There definitely are moments where Bloodhound finds themself cowering behind him whenever their partner pops off on someone bothering them.

- Bloodhound easily makes him very soft, watching his heavy rants that are full of rage slowly turn into quiet grumbles as Bloodhound hushes him and leaves soft kisses on his temple

- Bloodhound can easily defend themself, but they find it rather adorable when their partner is heated at another legend and takes over the defending.

- "Elskan, your rage is hot like the fire that burns through the forest during a thunderstorm. I admire this about you. I will be the rain that eases your flame and puts it out. "

- Long story short, Bloodhound loves their partner! Hot-headedness and all. They find it admirable that someone can kindle such a flaming temper and aggressive personality.

Fazbear Frights Analysis: Friendly Face / #10

I was at my in laws last few days and shopping for decorations with my bff yesterday so I had time to read the Friendly Face book. I'm a few pages into the final story so havent gotten to the epilogue yet. Its fairly more pages than normal so suprised I havent stumbled on spoilers yet.

The first story was okay but stupid ending (I think it could work if it was set up better ie making the Friendly Face seem like it wanted revenge rather than playing--and yes this was kind of creative but didn’t really feel satisfying as an ending.) and the second story was very Goosebumps like ( Seabonnies are assholes but also kinda adorable. Seabonnies are the Sour Patch Kids of the FF universe... ). The third story.. Every character annoys me so far and its a slog. We got some cool animatronics and as I guessed early on it seems like a mini love letter to Kings Carrie. Read my thoughts below, since I had stopped reading before we got to the good stuff.

Nothing really Willry/Helliam relevant lately, unfortunately. Hoping there’s something in the epilogue though. (Now that I read it: Yeah, I think we have a Henry stand in, actually)

So, turns out the last story was the most relevant, at least for me. It gives us more insight into the springlock suits (maybe more specifically the second set of them, not sure). They are described similar to Funtime Freddy in terms of the stomach cavity, but they are springlock suits. There is a switch on the outside that is stated to sometimes fail that converts it from suit to animtronic mode / vise versa. We get a pretty cool description of a character death inside of it--and well, it’s about how you’d imagine it [and pleasantly suprised close to how I remember writing it in my fic]. What’s odd is the springlock suit appears to be immediately “haunted” by the first, then the second girl in the story. I don’t think the number is as relevant as the fact that the souls attatched immediately. I guess Mrs. Carrie-Pig (Rosie Porkchop) may already be infused with remnant? It’s never explained. The springlock suit is also programmed outright. I think this was assumed before, but we get some insight into how it’s done. Also, this furthers my theory regarding Springtrap chasing the voices in FNAF 3. It’s definetly programming. The ones in this story are listed as specifically avoiding adult voices and targeting children’s voices.

Epilogue and theory is under the cut:

The epilogue... you guys, I don’t know where to begin with this. I’m gonna write my initial thoughts here and then scour Freddit for some clarification. The beginning starts with Larson looking into the DNA samples and connecting them to a bunch of incidents, mostly involving a skeletal figure which appears to be Eleanor. Next, we get confirmation that Eleanor took over Renelle at some point. Eleanor goes to the house of “her father”. The description does hold many similarities to the Afton household, specifically a couch with a lamp next to it reminded me a lot of Sister Location, but it’s not enough to really confirm anything (the lamps are different types too). The man is a remnant-specialist named Talbert. I feel like I remember the name being mentioned before. The story specifically points out a photo of him and his partner, Phineas. (This should ring so many bells for anyone in the Willry/Helliam ship..). However, Eleanor as she was or is is NOT Talbert’s daughter, who is shown in a photo and described with: black hair and brown eyes. Most people would probably associate it with Cassidy, but my mind went more to Charlotte. So Talbert seems to be a Henry stand in. He seems shocked to see his dead daughter, yet can believe she’s alive (probably because he’s very experienced with remnant or maybe The Spark). Talbert takes remnant to give to his “daughter”/Eleanor who is disguised as her. We know she can project her appearance with the locket and I guess she does that here. If I wasn’t speed reading too much, it seems the Plushtrap chaser might be there too? Eleanor starts turning into another wierd rabbit-bot-monster thing at the end, too. I’m assuming this thing is related to Pit-Bonnie, but we don’t get many details here. The entire thing also has a long segment of Larson’s “visions” going through all the events of the Fazbear Frights we’ve seen so far and even explaining Blackbird in more detail.

I don’t know what to think about it...

Having checked Freddit: I guess this went over my head, but the most important detail seems to be that Eleanor is harvesting remnant and/or agony to grow stronger and was also behind many of the events in the stories. As in, not just setting them up sort of way, but like... being one of the doctors in Step Closer and having the Plushtrap chaser... and being present somehow in 1280. I think it’s wierd, bordering on dumb, but I’ll roll with it. Also worthy to note, she appears to be bringing all the remnant/agony back to the ballpit. I’m secretly really hoping it’s all an effort to revive William (despite the epilogue that sort of contradicts it, where Eleanor steals agony from AlmagAfton--although I see this as a last ditch kind of move to save it rather than destroying him--it’s clear the Puppet did that, isn’t it?) I even had the thought when they discussed Eleanor specifically having the Plushtrap chaser that it reminded me of the Spring Bonnie plush at the end of FNAF: VR / HW.

Also, since I jumped to the idea that Renelle was Charlotte, I missed a specific detail about curly black hair, which gets reiterated. [TBF, I based my Charlotte off of game-Charlotte, so I depict her with black, not brown hair. I didn’t see the ‘curly’ word specified or missed it] A theory I like and really agree with is Renelle WAS who became Andrew. We all know Andrew is our Cassidy stand in... and what has the fandom been fighting over? The damn gender. If Renelle died and forgot who she was, she could easily reimagine herself as a male spirit aka Andrew. This solves that dilemma. As an extra note, Scott’s voice request for the angry spirit was listed as ‘male or female’.

Ranking Hagens

Nibelungenlied Hagen: Clever, dependable, super loyal, actually loves his friends and family A Lot, may start praising them at the vaguest prompting. Also RUTHLESS, a bastard, Will Not Hesitate to kill you and/or ruin you if he feels you're a threat and/or he doesn't like you, is a-ok with harming women and killing children. King of bullshit excuses that somehow work even tho they really really shouldn't. Besides killing ppl and stealing their stuff, skills set also includes lying, scheming, and knowing how to use scorn "full well", which means not only you don't want to fight him or trust him too much, you also Do Not want to get roasted by him. Really dislikes Siegfried (relatable!) and is very very proud of himself for killing him (adorable!!). Drawn to cool weaponry like a magpie to shiny objects. Very pragmatic and straightforward, has probably never met a moral dilemma he didn't immediately stab in the back or dump into the Danube. Is the protagonist of what I honestly consider to be the single most (darkly) hilarious moment of the poem (seriously, go read Adventures 25-26, they're a WILD ride). Asking what his True Motivations are, how his character Should be interpreted, or even which historical or mythological figures he might be based on will probably start a fistfight between academics (tho that goes for everyone in the Nibelungenlied tbf) which makes him a bastard even on a meta level. Canonically long-legged and broad-chested and with hair "mixed with grey" at least in the second half of the poem, so I feel (almost) completely justified in calling him a leggy DILF/silver fox with nice tiddies. Engages in situational blood-drinking and gets his friends into it as well, which definitely doesn't justify me calling him a sexy vampire but shh, whatever. Once I posted a meme about him and tumblr removed it because it was just too hot. 11/10, literally my second literary crush right after Hector from the Iliad, been thinking of him and sighing romantically since I was literally just a kid. *sigh*

Waltharius Hagen/Hagano: Young and a bit naive and very emotional, therefore babey. Loves his friends and family A Lot and WILL start praising them completely unprompted, will also refuse to fight them until he's pretty much forced to and then needs to be comforted with kisses and hugs to actually go through with it. Still Not Sure how to deal with conflicting loyalties, thus Angst. Doesn'react well to ppl badmouthing his dad. Launches into overwrought speeches on mankind's folly and how greed is a terrible evil, but that's when his nephew's being an idiot and clearly going to die on his watch so I'll cut him some slack because he might actually be rehearsing what the hell he's gonna tell his sister later. Gets to duel his vaguely suggestive Best Bro Forever while both of them mourn the loss of the "famous harmony" between them and are generally very dramatic WITHOUT either of them dying heroically and/or tragically (tho they both end up mutilated, but it's ok because they then decide it's nbd and get drunk together). Has an awful sense of humor but Walther's is horrible, too, and apparently it's all Attila's fault for teaching them to use gallows humor as a coping mechanism. Geographically and historically confused but Very Soft. The lack of bastardness is a little disappointing but is easily excused by his youth and compensated by his adorableness. 9/10, would kiss on the forehead.

Der Rosengarten zu Worms Hagen: A giant?? But nearly EVERYONE is a giant in this so idk. Just a guy trying to do his job and be courteous while he's at it even while Kriemhild and Dietrich are being stupidly overcompetitive. Curses Kriemhild out at the end of one manuscript despite her saving his life, apparently, which is not very nice (come on, Dietrich was being an asshole as well!) but tbf he went from taking part in wars and dangerous expeditions to guarding some flowers and fighting in a dumb tournament with knights killing and maiming each other for literally just a kiss and a garland, and he's just had a rough day full of ridiculous shit like Hildebrand pretending to be dead to get Dietrich to fight better and Siegfried sitting in Kriemhild's lap and hiding under her veil to escape from a "grieving" Dietrich AND Volker showing up to his duel with a golden fiddle strapped to back like some sort of Impractical Giant Anime Sword AND Ilsan the warrior monk with the anger issues and sadistic sense of humor and absolutely no fucking chill (who is his own warning, really), so he should probably be lauded for not just giving everyone the finger and fucking off on some hill like in the Waltharius. 6/10

Kudrun Hagen: Not really an Hagen? Confusing. Probably shouldn't even be here but the characters in this are supposedly inspired by/an answer to Nibelungenlied characters. Still, why does he become supernaturally strong via dragon blood like Siegfried. Why is he Irish. 0/10

Volsunga Saga/Edda Högni: One of the lucky (?) few with common sense & chill in the whole mess - except when it comes to listening to his own wife being Right about everything, then all of that evaporates for some reason?? Doesn't appreciate ppl being loud for no reason (same) and tries to prevent a servant from being killed in his place (if only because the servant begging for his life is what's getting too loud for no reason, in his opinion - still a nice gesture imho). Either has a very weird sense of humor like Waltharius Hagen, or just laughs at very inappropriate moments. Really badass death scene, tho, and enough of a badass attitude in life that even HIS HEART is cooler than regular human hearts. A good brother to Gudrun despite everything. NOT a good half-brother to Guttorm, which is ironic considering other Hagens and Högnis. I've got a lot of stuff to read AND reread AND read better and paying more attention but right now he's at least a solid 7/10.

Thidrekssaga/Didriks Chronicle/Danish & Faroese Ballads Högni: The one who always goes out with a bang... because he keeps asking for sex as his dying wish. *ba-dum-tss* But it's all just a devious plan to knock up random women and get a bunch of avenging children who'll one day kill Atli or Kriemhild or both. Weaponized horniness, if you will. Or weaponized monsterfucking, since iirc he's the first half-human half-brother Högni/Hagen? Has to deal with Dietrich breathing fire/becoming scalding hot and NOT in the sexy figurative way/turning into a dragon and spitting venom all over him (it's ok, they still hug and kiss a lot), Kriemhild throwing random stuff on the ground to trip him up, Brunhild hitting on him, and at least one author saying he's ugly and looks "nasty" one moment and having all women constantly stare at him for his fame and "manliness" *cough* the next. Murder-happy even for an Hagen. Genealogy and role are all over the place. Goes from Gunther's and Kriemhild's half-brother to Volker's brother to Sigurd's foster brother & Brynhild's husband to idek anymore tbh. 8/10 just for how Extra his stories always end up being, and also for that one where Gunther is like "why can't you just be happy without doing evil shit?!" and he's like "we're literally going to our death, nothing matters anymore and I can and will have a little evil as treat."

Ring Cycle Hagen: Murderous angsty depressed teen (don't believe anyone who tells you he's a middle-aged guy in a suit or an old man with a big beard and a horned helmet, he's just one year older than Siegfried at most - so if Siegfried is an Innocent Yet Vigorous Adolescent Hero Prone To Youthful Follies or whatever, then Hagen is a goth teen, sorry not sorry, I don't make the rules) who is a bastard both literally and figuratively. Daddy issues of the "dad raised me to hate everyone and everything and ensured I'd never be able to feel any joy and would always hate and envy anyone who could, but we're secretly plotting together to take over the world so guess we're a team and I have to put up with his shit, but he's CLEARLY going to backstab me and besides I hate him, too" variety, mommy issues of the "everyone always compares me to or associates me with mom when they're trying to compliment me and I can never reply that I actually hated her for fucking dad and conceiving me unless I'm talking to dad and can't help but remind him of how much I hate both of them" variety, sibling issues of the "I think my half-siblings basically see me as a servant because I'm illegitimate and only half-human and in spite of how much they actually rely on me and hang on my every word, so instead of talking to them about it I'll just manipulate and use them and then smugly soliloquy about how THEY are really the servants doing MY bidding even if they don't even know it" variety. Plus a lot of self-loathing, because he means it when he says he hates EVERYONE, no exceptions. Also constantly tired and cold and complaining about being cold and tired, possibly because his dad keeps randomly showing up to discuss the great secret evil world conquest plan in the middle of the night ("Are you awake, my son?" Geez, he sure is NOW!) so when the fuck does this boy even sleep. Always looks miserable and the one time he cracks a joke nobody even cares it's unfunny and pretty tasteless because such a rare and unlikely occurrence is obviously a sign of The Happiest Day Ever When No One AT ALL Can Possibly Be In A Bad Mood... aaand ofc, it's all really just another part of the secret evil plan. But he's genuinely very pleased with himself for killing Siegfried (again, ADORABLE, even if a tad inconsiderate towards his own sister in this case). Clearly wants to fight everyone but, regrettably, has to play it smart and keep his cool. Needs a hug but if anyone were brave enough to try he'd probably try to claw their face off like an angry cat - and the closest thing he gets canonically is the Rhinedaughters embracing him to pull him down and drown him. My son, my baby, my perfect child. Deserves all the love and all good things. Did everything wrong and I know this and I love him. Where are the sappy, wish-fulfilling, whump-y, hurt/comfort fanfics where he is happy and loved? Where?! 10/10, would hug at my own risk.

Hebbel Hagen: Technically shouldn't be here because I can't find an Italian OR English translation and I'm not quite desperate enough to put the whole German text through Google Translate yet but I know he spends the whole opening scene complaining because no one will go out hunting with him on Easter morning and acting like Jesus only came back from the dead to ruin his fun so he's already a 7/10.

Füssli Hagen: Constantly naked, occasionally chained up. 100/10, why couldn't this man illustrate the whole Nibelungenlied, have you seen the Brunhild/Gunther bondage thing.

Ok so before we start, I gotta fess up and say I got spoiled for something because Twitter Sucks, so I know Tarn is in this series. Here are my predictions about that: 

Megatron said he rescued Astrotrain from a tyrant. I thought he meant an Alt!Universe version of him, but now that I know This Bastard is gonna be in it, I’m guessing it’s Tarn

If Megatron DID save Astrotrain from Tarn, it’d be hilarious if Tarn & co. weren’t actually planning to kill Astrotrain, they were just using him as transport, in which case Megatron essentially car-jacked (train-jacked?) them.

As much as I rag on Tarn and the DJD I actually do genuinely love the idea of an Autobot + Decepticon teamup against the DJD THAT WOULD BE SO FRICKIN COOL....

I’m sure at some point during their voyage on the Ark, Optimus froze and they all played the “who can do this silly / embarrassing thing in front of Optimus and get away with it before he wakes up” game. Like, Rodimus somersaults down the hall while spouting fire in front of Optimus, Bee does a handstand while singing the alphabet backwards, etc, and whoever’s in front of Optimus when he “wakes up” loses. (It’d be even funnier if Optimus kept pretending to be frozen while they played until someone did something REALLY embarrassing and he unfroze to freak them out. Then again, the Matrix going back into his chest would probably be too much of a giveaway huh)

Cardcaptor Sakura episode 32 was quite fun. Kero-chan and Syaoran swap bodies because of the Change card, and they need to wait a full day before Sakura’s able to return them. So we just get a day of them doing shenanigans in the other’s body, Kero-chan in Syaoran’s body struggling to not stand out and embarrass the real Syaoran, meanwhile Syaoran in Kero-chan’s body struggling with the fact that he’s now in a tiny body he doesn’t know how to use and he needs to be completely static, which gets him into bother when he goes to school with Sakura to check up on Kero-chan-Syaoran. All good fun. Plus a series of events leads to Syaoran in Kero-chan ending up inside a crane game, and we have to win him out, which was nice. And that’s about it, episode was cute fun, not really anything else to say about it other than that I liked it.

Now I want an excuse to watch the movie tomorrow, so I actually went and watched episode 33 as well. Plus I’m gonna watch episodes 34 and 35 today, which I’ll talk about in this post, but like I literally just finished 33 so I can’t talk about those future episodes yet. Anyway, episode 33 was great! It’s a school trip to the ice skating arena, and as someone who’s not done ice skating in 5 years, I love that sport, and seeing all the characters just skate around is really fun. Sakura’s pretty bad at it to start which surprised me, most rollerskating and ice skating performances I’ve seen look more or less the same to me, such that I thought skill in one would easily translate to skill in another, but I guess not. Sakura does quickly learn though and that’s fun. The OP’s actually used as an insert song for all the skating around which wasn’t exactly necessary but tbf the OP’s great so I was happy either way. Our Clow Card is the Freeze card, which ends up freezing literally everyone in the arena outside of Sakura, Syaoran and Mizuki, though she just hides to let the kids deal with it. And the ensuing fight is fucking awesome, by far one of my favourite action scenes in this whole show so far. Because like the Freeze card is this giant fish monster thing that’s actually swimming underneath the arena ice, and shooting up its own like icy pillar attack things that Sakura and Syaoran have to skate around to avoid, and like any fight where the method of travel isn’t what it usually is is just inherently awesome, ice skating especially, but they combine it with some damn good animation here to make a fight that’s just, so fucking cool to watch, I adored every second of it. And that’s it that’s the episode, really great time.

Episode 34 was also super nice! It’s basically just Sakura and Yukito wandering around town doing this quiz put on by I guess the local government or something. And it was super sweet! All of the questions were fucking bullshit for Japanese kids involving like kanji and katagana and shit so I couldn’t answer any of them but hey they seemed nice. It’s fun seeing Sakura with Yukito, her crush is simply cute and he’s just nice in general. Also there’s an insert song and the instrumental sounds Jackson 5-y, that was cool. They also fall off of a cliff when Sakura ends up in something of a dazed state, but it’s cool, Yukito makes sure she’s okay. About that dazed state, that one dream Sakura’s been having has been popping up a lot as of late, also Mizuki warned Sakura about the full moon, also Kero-chan’s been lost in thought, and keeps on saying the name 2 “Yue”. I guess since we’re pretty close to the end of the first season they’re kind of setting up for a cool finale. I’m about to find out. Also although this is like, the end of the first season, I’m not gonna give a score, since all 70 episodes are the one MAL entry and I score those as a whole, but just know that it’d be a pretty hecking good score if I did give one.

Lmao forget all that talk I just had about an epic finale, this was just more regular Cardcaptor Sakura goodness, except on Christmas! Well, a little before. But that’s cool, because it’s a little before Christmas right now! Sakura invites Yukito to the amusement park as like a Christmas date type thing, and also to give him a birthday present since it’s his birthday, and the whole thing’s super sweet and cute and Yukito’s nice and Sakura’s feelings aren’t reciprocated because a 10 y/o and a 17 y/o in a relationship is fucked, and I’m glad, but also Sakura still gets to have a cute crush and that’s nice. Also Sakura goes to Meiling for advice with the present and the two share an interaction that’s genuinely positive on both sides, rather than Meiling’s usual hostility, so that was super great, particularly when they’re all in the park together (cause Meiling and Syaoran are both there too btw) and Meiling’s all “is that the guy?” and ah it was nice. Also speaking of Syaoran dude seems to be kinda crushing on Sakura now, which is neato, someone in his age range that’s not his cousin, that’s cool, but his crush on Yukito is also cute so like, we’ll see which takes prominence. Also in this episode we go up against the Firey Clow Card (it’s actually spelled like that, not even kidding) and like, fuck is it a dangerous one, could very well destroy the entire amusement park and kill everyone in it, that’d be super fucked. Syaoran has to use Time combined with Sakura using Sleep in order to give them a chance to even fight it, but none of their individual abilities can do anything. That is until Kero-chan tells Sakura to use Windy and Watery at the same time, which aside from being just a cool thing to do, lemme tell you right now, the entire sequence of Windy and Watery catching Firey is legit fucking sakuga. It’s so clean! Like this show’s animation has been pretty consistently great but this scene fucking blew me away, it looks so fucking good! The fight is over quite quickly once Kero-chan tells Sakura to use both, so the actual confrontation with Firey is surprisingly brief, but like, honestly the sakuga on display makes me not even care. Also since Sakura got Firey, Kero-chan now has some of his powers restored! He can create fire, but also really nice glowy sparkly things, that he kind of sprays all over the sky at the end to give us a really pretty backdrop for the credits. I think that’s pretty neat, can’t wait to see what else the Beast of the Seal has in store for us. And uh, I think that’s it, episode was just really good. Expected it to follow up on the plot threads that were being mad teased last episode but, eh, oh well.

And that concludes Cardcaptor Sakura season 1, I suppose. Tomorrow I’ll check out the movie and then we’ll move onto season 2. As I was just saying, this is all under the one MAL entry, so there’s no point in me giving a score, but like, fuck that was brilliant. I fuckin, adore this. I don’t even know what else to say other than I’m really looking forward to seeing more. So many plot points still to see, but also just more episodes of slice of life goodness that I love so much. I’m just, really happy I decided to finally watch this.
