They're soulmates. The way she just stops him cause she waited the whole night to tell him that she loves him and chooses him. The way he just smiles and they lean to each other. Those little kisses after passionate one just say that they can't get enough of each other. The way he picks her up🥺🫂. They're each others person!
S2 is the final season for me! If s3 will have different ending, I won't watch it and won't consider it as Canon, cause you can't convince me they didn't end up together after such characters' growth!
i initially didn't want to talk about this scene bc personally i think it's been blown out of proportion but if you want to get real and talk about symbolism, I'll come to play.
For Belly's entire life, Conrad has been "the sun". She idealized him so much that all she could see was him and no one else could compare, leaving Jere in the shadows despite always being there for her (and literally being nicknamed "the sunshine boy")
So many people have tied this shot to that quote "For Belly, Conrad was the sun" and have understood the light here to be the sunlight radiating on Belly and Conrad. But the thing is—despite so many people's misinterpretations of the shot—it (he) is not the sun.
It's artificial lighting. It's not real.
He isn't the person she built him up to be no matter how many times she had convinced herself he was. She just didn't realize it immediately.
When Belly wakes up (that in itself could also be a metaphor), and she is able to think clearly and decide for herself what she wants and what she needs, she chooses Jeremiah. And what exactly happens when she does?
The sun shines on both of them. There is real sunlight bathing the shot because she doesn't idealize him and he doesn't idealize her, they see each other for who they really are and love each other anyway and that's what's real.
it's so important to me that it comes across that the sun shines on both of them. she didn't find a new sun, she didn't choose a different person to revolve her whole life around—she wanted the sun to shine down on her as much as it did her partner bc ultimately, she is now also choosing herself and what makes her truly happy.
am i the only one who thinks that this whole "conrad begging jere to let him be with belly" thing is super immature and toxic? conrad did it because, as he said, belly didn't want to hurt jere. what about conrad himself? did he think it was okay to come home after not talking to jere, leaving him alone to take care of their mom, medical bills, insurance, and other stuff, and just casually telling him how much he loved belly? didn't he see jere hurting? why, just why was he so selfish? i couldn't stand him in that scene honestly. and then when jere told belly about this situation, i thought she would be mad at conrad, because he lied to her about jere being fine, happy, and seeing other people, and he forced jere to "give a blessing". but belly was all like oH wHY diDnT YoU tELl mE I wOuldVe FoUghT fOR uS. oh really? if she knew conrad didn't give a shit about his brother's feelings, if she knew jere was NOT over her, he was not happy nor dating others, she would've taken it as a sign of conrad's love? really? where? it only proves that jere was the real one, because he wanted belly and conrad to be happy, and had to sacrifice his feelings. and the next day after that belly&conrad beach conversation she's like "you know what, jere, i actually want you now". excuse me??? my boy deserves better than that
Quick note to whoever found Conrad ‘cute and funny’ in that car scene from last nights episode. Please re evaluate some things. And this isn’t even coming from me being a Jelly Stan, this is coming from me seeing that his behaviour was childish and manipulative. If you think Conrad was in the right here, please don’t get into a relationship any time soon, because you deserve better than someone who thinks they own you and cares more about making you feel guilty and manipulating you than they do about your own happiness. Just, be careful out there my loves.
"jeremiah forgot her favorite candy!" firstly, some people's parents don't even know their kids favorite candy and it doesn't mean they don't love them or know their child less. and second, you know what jeremiah wouldn't have forgotten? the corsage
I'm a non book reader only watched the show when does Jelly happen and when does she describe her love for him? I've heard the third book is a fanfic a bad one at that so if I do read it I'll consider book 2 the ending hope it's a happy one for my ships I love them both. I get why people are annoyed with Belly constantly going from one to the other but that's not in the books right? I wish she would only choose and love Jeremiah I'm getting stick of Conrad's shit since season 1 he reminds me of those toxic male leads from movies like After not that extreme of course but similar.
There are spoilers for books!!
I just finished book 2 and loved the ending because Belly finally lets go her obsession and love for conrad. Here's the quote I've loved about it:
She literally says that she's not gonna be the only one who says sorry and runs after the person. She finally realizes her worth.
And her description for boys is very different. Ij case of conrad, it is read as some kind of obsession and idolization of the person. And she excuses him always. Like he literally went to his ex in 2nd book, but suddenly this is not considered cheating, but when Jeremiah did the same, he's some kind of villain... Belly is literally the only one who puts on effort and conrad acts only when Belly is with someone else. I know he's been going through a lot, but if he's not ready for a relationship, just don't start it.
And then after realizing what kind of shitty person he is, she realized that she made a mistake for taking him, that she idolized about her and conrad too much, when in reality it wasn't what she has imagined. She came to the conclusion that she should have brought Jermeiah cause he would never do that to her:
She never felt that she was loved fully by conrad. She says this in book 2, I think. He's been crazy about her, but with her, it was usual, nothing exciting for him. Also, it felt like that cknrad just lived that belly liked him. I just feel like it.
And in book2, Jeremiah kisses her and she literally says that the kiss was something she has never experienced cause it was so damn PASSIONATE LIKE HE WAS DROWNING AND SHE WAS AIR, WHILE SHE NEVER FELT LIKE THAT WITH CONRAD!!!!
Also this is the end of book2. Look how she says that Jeremiah is her past, present and future. She says it's true love. While her love for conrad is described as something childish, she says that it's not good love and it's just one time thing cause this type of love will only hurt you!!!
Team jelly till my last breath!!!
Book3 really feels like a bonrad fanfic. I just started it, but the way characters act are just out of character. Jenny Han just wanted to force bonrad into our throats🤢
