During Octo Expansion did Eight. Did Eight understand anything anyone was saying? Especially Cuttlefish?

Because like you could make the argument the main language of the Deep Sea Metro is Octarian, that'd make sense, so CQ and Iso Padre would have been speaking Octarian, and Marina over the phone may also speak Octarian and translate the chat messages to Octarian for Eight, and maybe she taught Pearl some too for fun or Pearl picked it up to help Marina when she first arrived, and Tartar obviously would be set to Octarian but like

Does Cuttlefish?? Know Octarian?? Fluently enough to RAP in Octarian?? Because he responds to what other characters say, and speaks to everyone else who speak back to him, unlike Eight who never says a word or is even implied to speak which really just leads me to believe they're all speaking Inklinese

So I ask again; Does Eight understand ANYONE during Octo expansion or are they just. Going with it.

So, with the new legends there's a neat way we can take a guess at some of the time frame. Although it's largely aesthetic and hard to gauge the intended historical parallels of, the not-Eiffel Tower at the center of the city could presumably have been completed in the late 1880s like the real thing. Interestingly that places it pretty concurrent to the construction of the Hokkaido Government building in the 1870s that served as the basis of the Galaxy Team HQ in the first Legends game.

But with the keywords being "urban redevelopment" the setting could only possibly be Haussman's renovation of Paris that took place from the 1850s-1920s. So given that the tower is already standing, that places Legends Z-A between 1889 and 1927.

And I doubt it would play into the setting of a Pokemon game but I think it's neat that it would mean taking place firmly in the 3rd French Republic, as that's not typically the most romanticized period of French history. (Kind of shocking given just how much Japanese pop culture loves to fixate on the Ancien Regime and Rococco architecture.) It's right at the height of the French Colonial empire and their rivalry with the British... Even if they don't address the history directly, certainly not the darker bits, I wonder if we'll see an ancestor of Rose* and some mention of Kalos and Galar's relation as a hint at the Pokemon world's equivalent of India. (Elephant, what elephant...)

Also I know a lot of the stupid "leaks" that were just running with any/every rumor they could find had been talking about Celebi, despite there being no signs of it in the direct, but it's possible that the Z-A title and the fadethru of the sort of sci-fi looking city diagram into a pencil and parchment one is indicating going back in time --backwards, from Z to A, end to start.

and just so long as I'm just picking at edges of things...

The unknown are an anagram of, "POKEMON PRESENTS"(oh and the SOEYUE one at the end is just "SEE YOU") and the ""confidential"" stamp on the documents likely reads "Gokuhi" as in gokuhi[極秘]: "Top Secret," but the rest of the text doesn't seem to match either Japanese, French, or English,

Hito to POKEMON no kyouzon o yumemite[人と ポケモンの共存を夢見て]: "Dreaming of people and Pokemon's coexistence" Toshisaikaibatsu hassou MIARE CITY[都市再開発発想ミアレシティ]: "Urban Redevelopment Concept Miare City"

The obvious exception being that redacted text is clearly the romanized MIARE from the Japanese MIARE[ミアレ] and the English CITY, which is the Japanese name for what was localized as "Lumiose."

Curiously the word "Pokemon" is very clearly missing from the passage, and also in both cases there are too few "Galarian" characters for how long the phrases are in any actual language.

and finally, given some of the existing examples of handwritten Galarian in SwSh, I'm guessing the text on the big logo is as i've transcribed into the more standard Galar font, although I'm really uncertain about that second one, and a bit iffy about the big "X"s, but the little cyclone O, the V with the underbar, and the E seem certain enough.

Also there's a logo I know I remember seeing that looks like this one but I can't remember where it is or what it's associated with.... It's the logo on the Macro Cosmos power plant. Not Rose's personal logo with the stylized rose, and not the Cosmos business logo with the big star system orbital ring Cs, but the power plant in Hammerlock where you go to fight Eternatus specifically.

It would be really neat if whatever this organization is was tied back to an ancestor of Rose and Peony and the origins of Macro Cosmos somehow.

Yeah. Sure. Everything is going good now. I kind of been busy with my 6 hour classes. I also want to thank my friend for making the edit for the Piers section. The edit is linked in that section and it is on YouTube. I didn’t do Leon because I feel like he wouldn’t use social media that much.

Raihan was scrolling through his Instagram when he found a picture of a masked Pokémon gym leader

So, he got curious and went to the page that was tagged and only saw pictures of the gym leader wearing their mask

Then he saw that they had their private Instagram link in their Linktree

He requested to follow the account and went back to scrolling through Instagram while he waited

He checked his notifications the next day and saw that the account had followed him and accepted his follow request

As soon as he was ready, he checked out the profile

When he saw your face he was blushing immediately

He thought you were the most beautiful person he’s ever seen

While he was looking through the pictures he accidentally liked an older photo of you and he panicked and unliked it because he didn’t want to come off as a weirdo

That’s when he received a DM from you joking about how what happened

He felt embarrassed until you told him that you were flattered and thought it was a little funny how quick it happened

He confessed that he was just scrolling through your page and thought that you were beautiful and accidentally hit like on that older photo

You sent 🤣 and said that you had done the same thing on one of his older posts because you thought he was stunning

After a while of DMing back and forth you two exchanged phone numbers promising not to leak them and to delete the messages after adding the phone number to your contacts list just in case either of your accounts got hacked

After about a month of texting you two finally meet up since you flew to Galar for a Gym Leader conference that was happening

You were wearing your mask throughout the conference except for when you were hanging out with the other Gym Leaders from your area and Raihan

Raihan promised that he would never post any pictures of you without your mask on

It was at that moment that a beautiful friendship was born

Piers was scrolling through TikTok, but he was on the app back when it was called Musical.ly

He was going through the the hashtag called PiersEdit and saw an edit that you had made

The edit was to the song The Feels by TWICE

After watching it he click on your profile picture and started watching your videos

The newest ones were edits of the Galar Gym Leaders

Once he finished watching those he sees a video with your face in it and watches it

It a video of you sewing a plush of his Obstagoon and the caption said “If I ever get to meet Piers I might give him this if he wants it.”

He knows you probably got notifications of him liking your video and he commented “I am more than willing to have that adorable plush from such a beautiful person.”

Then the likes exploded and some people were questioning if if you and Piers were in a secret relationship

He just continues to watch your TikToks and sees you’ve made the other Galar Gym Leaders Pokemon and all the videos included your beautiful face

A month later he was meeting fans after one of his concerts and he spots a familiar plush

He walks up to you and taps you on your shoulder “Hey beautiful.”

You turn around and quickly give him the plush and ran off

He hopes to see you again since you put your phone number on the tag

It kinda sucks that you get a whole dorm room in Scarlet/Violet, and you don't even get to do the one cool thing every student would do with their dorm room - personalize it!!

So I spent an absurdly long time painstakingly editing someone's character out of a screenshot of the empty room, until it looked pretty much seamless...and then proceeded to just scribble over it anyway dkjfg. This is just a concept of what my trainer Sierra would have in her room. It would take way too long to clean it up, so it's just gonna look sketchy for now -u- But I really like what I did with it!

On the bed: Two lavender pillows, two throw blankets, a shiny Minior plush, and a shiny Torchic plush. If you were to interact with the bed, the text would say "There are a few small red and green feathers on the bed..." Sierra's Hawlucha sometimes takes naps there with her kdjfg.

On the left wall: A Froslass poster, inspired by a drawing I once received as a gift.

On the center wall: A map of Paldea with lots of sticky notes, photos, and articles, all connected by strings. Here she keeps track of things related to her search for new Mega Stones (specifically one for Bisharp).

Hi there!

I’m Miwa, a bug type specialist originally from galar. I’m currently travelling from region to region to research the local fauna, (Mostly bug types of course, but any pokemon that piques my interest, I’ll study!) along with trying to craft the perfect team. I want to prove to the world that bug types can be just as good as other pokemon, and they shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Orion- Orbeetle

My first, and ace pokemon! I got him when I was nine, when I protected him from some aggressive flying type pokemon as a blipbug, and we’ve been training together since! He tends to act quite full of himself, but it’s clear that he deeply cares for the team, even if he shows it in different ways.

Cinder- Scolipede

I caught her as an unusually friendly venipede on the isle of armour. She’s a sweetheart, and cares for the rest of the team greatly.

Delta- Golisopod

She’s extremely energetic, and the most enthusiastic while training. She tries her best to lift the spirits of the rest of the team, even in more dull situations.

Rex- Durant

He was casted out of his nest for being too timid, I encountered him while training cinder when she was still a whirlipede, and he followed us for a good few hours from afar. He was scared to properly approach us, but when he did, he let me catch him. He loves physical affection, commonly approaching people he knows for pets, though he tends to be scared of new people.

Sapphire- Heracross

Sapphire’s one of the most protective of the others, when it comes to battle, second to Orion. While gentle outside of fighting, she’s a beast when she is.

I also have a cutiefly called Sakura!! Though I don’t battle with her.. On another note, she’s shiny!

On Time Travel

Before I begin, I wish to state very clearly that this is not to be taken as fact or a dedicated primer on the subject. This is my own attempting to sort out the information I learned from Bill on the subject, by writing it out in a clear form. There may be mistakes, inaccuracies, and misunderstandings in this text.

Bill created the Time Capsule system in 1999. This system only allows for the transfer of Pokeballs up to three years into the past, and only within the Kanjoh region. The reasons for this are energy- The further something is moved in time, the more energy it takes. The further it is moved in space, the more energy it takes. And most importantly, the more mass it has, the more energy it takes- The other two are more workable, but the mass-energy requirement increases exponentially.

A single Pokemon in its Pokeball can be sent three years across time with the electricity a Pokemon Center has. Something larger, such as a Machop outside of its ball, would take an entire city's energy for a week to make the same trip.

An adult human would take enough energy to power all of Galar for a hundred years, and they would likely cease to exist in transit. We will get back to that part.

Time is not a straight arrow that can only move one direction. It is simply another axis of movement. We all move through time at one second per second, without accounting for relativity, from past towards future. However, as it is a single axis, movement can be achieved along that axis in both directions. Thinking of it as a fourth spatial dimension can help visualize it. Time's ongoing nature is not an inherent aspect of time, but of the beings that interpret it this way.

According to the Many-Worlds Interpretation, there are near-infinite timelines. Anything that could happen in multiple ways, happens in every possible way in different timelines. Thus, as time moves forward, time branches into infinite possibilities. However, according to Bill, there are two important notes to that.

First, it is not only forward. Time actually branches out in both directions. It branches backwards, such that 'every possibility that could lead to this moment' is a branch. Furthermore, there is a principle he calls 'path of least resistance'.

The same way water moves in space according to the path of least resistance, he says that time follows its own path of least resistance. To move from one instant to the next, things that would require too much change or a change of information cannot happen. Thus, when sending a Pokeball back in time, one does not actually need to worry or account for alternate timelines- By sending things backwards in time, it will branch into the timelines where the reception is possible, by following that path of least resistance.

However, the greatest problem of this is information.

By following the path of least resistance, things that did not exist in the recipient era cannot be sent there. Not just objects, or creatures, but information itself cannot cross the gap. Knowledge would be forgotten, or be scrambled. Discoveries cannot be made.

The key principle to understanding this is that there is no omnipotent, intelligent force overseeing things. Time does not have a guardian which keeps the timeline in order. It is simply a matter of energy- The energy to overcome the 'path of least resistance' to cause a paradox with information does not exist in our world, and possibly not in our universe. Thus, time itself will 'correct' the paradox, by forcing it out of your head. This is because forgetting it is 'possible', and so it would be slid into a timeline where that forgetting does happen.

If forgetting was not possible- If there is simply too much information to be forgotten, that there is simply no way it could possibly be lost- Then there will be no timeline that can receive that time travel. At which point, the outcome is...

Either total cessation of existence, or perhaps something else. A non-timeline. Either way, once this occurred, that information is lost to us, as surely as if it fell into a black hole.

... This is all I could understand. I hope any of you can understand this as well.

Finally got the go-ahead to post about this… so, with the growing visibility of hybrids in the public eye, I was offered the opportunity to interview with RIME Magazine! (Capitalizing the name properly was part of the deal.)

I’ll be pasting the text of the article below for anyone without a subscription (to be fair, it’s also posted online, and I have permission), but before that… I also got a cover photoshoot! I wound up touching up my ears with my illusions… and some of the burn scars… but I’m quite happy with how it turned out, still. Wolfy couldn’t make it, so I took the photo with Chiru that day! Anyways, hope you enjoy. :)

But without further ado, the interview!

RIME Magazine sat down for an interview with Vanilla Cress, a Hisuian Zorua hybrid, human and Pokémon psychologist, Champion-class trainer in Paldea, Galar Champion Cup semifinalist, and hybrid model and activist, in early February. Topics discussed varied widely, from Cress's own experience growing up as a human-Pokémon hybrid, understanding Pokémon, Cress's recent modeling and activism, and future plans. What follows is a condensed and edited transcript of the interview.

That's quite the list of accolades you've accumulated along the way. What do you think has led you to achieve so highly?

Well, for one, I think you're giving a lot of this more credit than it's worth, [laughs]. I'm not sure being pulled off of the street because I look like a walking ice-cream cone is much of an accomplishment, personally. Nor do I do much activism apart from this interview now, apparently.

I think I understand the answer you're going for here, though. I would say that my hybridity's a large part of what brought me as far as I've come. Not only in having the gift to talk to our partners in life--which is an incredible gift--but in that there's this drive to prove myself. Or maybe to redeem myself. I'm not really sure which, personally. Doing things has just filled all of the gaps in my life, until now.

Right, and you only publicly "came out" as a hybrid less than a year ago.

Yes, less than a year ago! It's been a huge adjustment, but I have so much more energy these days, not having to worry about being discovered by hitting something with my tail, [laughs].

While my experience hasn't been entirely positive after "coming out" myself, and I realize that even being able to hide is a privilege many hybrids simply don't have, I will say that generally speaking, the public response has been overwhelmingly positive. Say, for every enemy I've made, I've made ten more friends in their place. And from so many different walks of life, too!

You say your experience wasn't entirely positive. Could you elaborate some on your negative experiences as a hybrid?

Well, if I have to. Which I suppose I don't, but it seems rude not to. There are, of course, people out there who view you as subhuman, when you look like me. Or in maybe a less extreme sense, people who have a tendency to see all of the fluff and decide "Oh, this person--I should talk to this person like they're a child." But those are really quite few and far between, at least in my case. I'm more likely to scare people, with the teeth and the claws. [They make a pose showing both off.]

My main negative experience, though, was something more personal and targeted.

Yes, there was the news earlier last year about the Dreamyard Laboratory...

"Earlier last year" doesn't feel right, somehow. I won't go much into detail, but yes, I was taken against my will for the purpose of illegal research on human-Pokémon hybrid power, by Colress Achroma. It was only due to the efforts of my dear friends that I'm here now. I cannot express my gratitude to them enough, if any of you are reading!

Thank you for sharing. To turn back the clock a bit, what was your childhood like, being half-Zorua?

Well, for most of that time, it was like paradise! When I was a young child, we were quite isolated, so I never got the sense that my life was "off" or "strange". I thought for the longest time it was normal to have a family like mine. My older sibling, Wolfgang, a Zorua then--we were just "W" and "V" at the time--he and I would just run wild and play in Lostlorn Forest for hours while the rest of the pack hunted. And then they'd come back, and they'd start in on whatever they'd caught, and my mother would swoop back in to make me something completely different. And teach me the alphabet. [Laughs]

Was there a time, when that facade cracked?

Oh, there was this time, right when I had gotten used to using my illusions, that my mother brought me to the grocery store with her. And that's when I learned a lot of facts about the world very quickly. And then I had to learn those facts all over again, a few years later, when I rejoined the human world with my adopted family. Everything had to be hidden after that, or else. It was dangerous, not knowing what sort of person you'd meet, or who'd want to hurt you just for existing.

You say you were also adopted?

Right. There was... a forest fire, at one point. Intentional. And I lost everyone dear to me but Wolfgang. And I became the sort of Zorua you see here now [a Hisuian Zorua]. And after a few years of... homelessness and what not, I was taken in by the Cresses. It was a chance encounter. And it was a major culture shock! Going from streets to high society parties. It was thanks to them, though, that I managed to find something to do with my life and graduated from Naranja-Uva.

And in between that, the Galar gym challenge...

[Laughs] I'm sure you have a clip of that somewhere. I'd rather not talk about it, that was... a strange period of teenagerhood for me.

How do you feel about your childhood, on reflection?

That's tough. That's something I believe I'm still working out, myself. It was positive moment-to-moment, but considering what I know, now, I would say... to some degree, I resent it. It's hard not to resent being born in a position where it feels like, for so long, nobody understands you. I wouldn't trade Wolfgang for anyone else, but otherwise, I do wish, sometimes, I was "just" a human.

I can imagine. At the same time, talking to Pokémon is quite the advantage, right? What is it like?

Depends on the Pokémon! Some of us are more talkative than others, and of course, there's a range in how sophisticated Pokémon communication is too.

The difference is something like... imagine two Pokémon asking for pizza. In my experience, a Solosis would usually just beam the word "PIZZA" right into your mind. A Sewaddle might be coherent enough to say "Pizza, please". And a Zoroark... probably something along the lines of "give me the damn pizza already," [laughs].

So sometimes you can get a lot across by understanding Pokémon, but that doesn't mean they're all speaking in the same way as humans still. Understanding those individual differences goes a long way in my line of work, too. It's a bit easier than reading behavior, anyways!

As a Pokémon psychologist, what's one thing you think more people should understand about their Pokémon?

More than anything... it sounds cliche, but most Pokémon truly view humans as their partners, just as we do them. As much scientific proof as has gone into the question of proving that Pokémon love us as much as we love them, in my experience... that's absolutely true.

At the same time, even as partners, Pokémon think quite differently from humans in their daily life. I think in order to create the most balanced world possible, where both can coexist, it's key to consider the Pokémon's perspective more too.

What's one thing you'd like to impart about hybrids to people who don't know much about them?

Every hybrid's experience is different, firstly! Some, like me, are born, but others are created through science or magic we still don't know about. Some may look almost identical to humans, and some may have appearances considered frightening or unusual. Some of us have long-standing health problems. Some of us can use moves, or speak in Pokémon language, or access abilities, whereas others may be more limited. There's no one experience that I can really label as "the hybrid experience".

There are people who might think we're dangerous. Or inhuman. But whether you consider us 'human' or not... like any living being, we still deserve respect and a voice. Maybe that's obvious, but I think it still rings true.

Finally, what are your plans from here?

I'm hoping to finish my Unova League challenge together with my traveling partner! I certainly don't intend to become the Champion, but if I can say I challenged every member of the Elite 4, I'd be happy.

From there... well, there are a few things I'd like to resolve otherwise, but I think I'll return to my day job as a therapist, and hopefully, my own personal sword training. I'd also like to spend more time with my friends, my traveling partner, and my family in Lostlorn! My brother, Wolfgang has four incredible kits, and they're the absolute most adorable--

Whimsicott Facts

-The scientific name for Whimsicott is "Gossypium Mediocris." Gossypium refers to the genus name of the cotton plant, while Mediocris means fairy. The translation for it is "Cotton Fairy"

-Whimsicott wool is often used as a replacement for cotton in a lot of products, as it has more durability and lasts longer. It grows back quickly and easily, so it’s not much of an issue

-Whimsicott will usually lay their eggs in cotton fields. The first piece of recorded history of one was a Whimsicott caring for her eggs in Unova, which was discovered by a farmer

-Whimsicott most likely developed the appearance of cotton to blend in with the rise of agriculture, as ancient more primitive Whimsicott didn’t have their wool look much like cotton

-The Whimsicott line is related to the Eldegoss line. A lot of people think that they're related to the Jumpluff line for both being cotton, but that's not true at all. Junpluff cotton contains many spores that Whimsicott doesn't have. Whimsicott cotton is also a lot fluffier and softer than Jumpluff cotton

-Ancient Whimsicott seemed to be more sinister and aggressive, as a lot of old texts talk about how they would have to protect themselves from these “Evil Fairies.” This could explain why some people are still wary of them, despite modern Whimsicott being more friendly (while still enjoying to play small pranks on others). I theorize that they would hide in gardens to leap out at people when they walked by

-There’s a constellation of Whimsicott in the sky named Vellus. It is also part of the Unovan Zodiac

-Whimmsicott are very social Pokemon and come in flocks in the wild. If you have one, it's best to get other pokemon along with them

-Whimmsicott are herbivores and eat seeds and grains they find, as well as photosynthesizing. A cool, lesser known fact about them, though, is that they work as weeds and will suck the nutrients from other plants for themselves. Combining the fact that they come in groups, all of this together can make them giant pests

-A group of Whimsicott is called a bale

-There's an old Galarian myth of an ancient fairy garden where the cotton flowers would grow into Whimsicott

-Wvumwicott are symbols of luck in both Galar and Unova. It's said that when their fluff falls off, you're supposed to make a wish

• The cloak and pin were gifts from Mavis upon Ingo joining the Suiren Security corp. He was also given a set of goggles to be used whenever he's on one of the company sleds, but doesn't usually wear them, generally choosing to carry them on his belt under his coat instead.

• Despite usually preferring members who possess some form of bending, non-benders are allowed to join Suiren Security, so there isn't much of a problem in that sense when Ingo joins. People are more so upset that he's a stranger than anything else really

• The running theory that he is a displaced explorer from Galar has been generally accepted, only solidified by the fact that some of the things Ingo has managed to remember have been fact checked by Laventon as things present in Galar. (Boy howdy is it gonna be a shock later on when everything comes to a head and they all realize they were wrong) His clothing certainly doesn't help disprove the theory considering it looks fairly similar to Laventon's own choice of dress.

• Despite having some of the nicer members of the corp offering more than once to repair the holes in his coat or upgrade it so it's warmer Ingo keeps refusing to do so, despite logically knowing that agreeing would be a great benefit to him. Something about adding new fabric to the garment rubs him the wrong way for reasons he doesn't quite understand and each time the topic is brought up he tends to baffle himself with said sudden feeling of discomfort.

• The only exception Ingo has made when it comes to changing his clothing is his cloak (when needed), and his undershirt, only accepting said undershirt due to the fact the dress shirt he was found in is torn and stained beyond recognition.

would YOU like to hear some fun kieran and florian facts from my apple of my eye series? here you go.

regarding sweet foods and sweets, kieran has a preference for fruit-flavored stuff, but not the artificial ones! I feel like he'd also like tanghulu as well as other candied fruits.

kieran used to drink energy drinks almost daily pre-indigo disk, but he doesn't drink them as much anymore.

florian's choice of caffiene is tea! mainly because it's a common staple from galar. they like to put sugar and creamer in their teas, and have a preference for black teas. early grey is probably his favorite tea, though he loves trying out all sorts of teas.

since moving to paldea, though, florian's more open to drinking coffee; kieran, on the other hand, despises coffee because it tastes bitter.

florian also usually carries a big thermos of hot tea since it can get really cold in the early mornings and at night.

even though they both run a little hot, they actually love wearing each other's outerwear (jackets, sweatshirts, sweaters, etc.) are they both dying in the heat? yes. are they going to take off their jacket? no. after all, it's their favorite person's clothes :)

florian probably smells really clean, like laundry detergent or the outdoors, whereas kieran always smells like candied apples. his hydrapple loves getting pets and playing around with him, so its supersweet syrup ability kinda just. rubbed off on him. permanently.

so florian's obviously from galar, right? but did you know that he's actually cousins with elio (protag from pkmn sun in alola)? both of his alolan regional forms (ninetails and raichu) were caught there when their family went to visit a few years back

also their raichu is shiny. because I have a shiny raichu named hersey.

florian is also very well known as like. That Guy that shows up whenever and usually in the weirdest places. they spend most of their time in the wild shiny hunting for pokemon (and he has a tendency to just. not check his phone at all for hours) so ppl just cannot get a hold of him unless he’s like. in the same physical space as them.

kieran's the sole exception (plus his mother) of ppl florian actually responds to on time. they’re also probably the only ppl in his favorite contacts, just so that he still gets their notifs when he’s on dnd (which is. all the time. shiny hunting requires a lot of focus!!)

on the topic of phones. kieran gets one. its a plot reason but he gets one eventually. he really wanted to wait until he saw florian again so he could have them as the first person in his contacts but carmine wouldnt let him (he has to contact his family somehow! kieran was kinda miffed about it)

kieran’s sooo a default texter. like normal caps and autocorrect. he still spells a few things wrong but he fixed it in another msg if he can. he also doesn't msg as often since he’s not used to having a phone and generally uses it to keep in touch with his friends and family.

if kieran has any social media its def to just research the trends in the competitive scene (and most of his posts are reddit style where he does intense theorycrafting with other competitve nerds)

florian's also like. ghost level texter. they will leave you on read (not actually, they turned that off so penny would stop getting mad at him for not replying for days.) he’s definitely very casual regarding tone and doesn’t talk much via text. he is, however, a big fan of calls! especially calling kieran (to no one’s surprise)

kieran's also the only one that florian actually texts to in a somewhat expressive manner. when kieran shows his texts with florian to the others theyre all like. are we talking about the same person. are you sure that’s florian and not an imposter.

Lonely Without Friendship

Raihan x F! Reader Angst/Fluff

Growing up you were always bullied. You didn't do anything to cause the bullying. It's just that kids are mean. You didn't have any friends because of this, so your parents ended up giving you a Glaceon and a Leafeon to help and protect you. They were your only friends throughout all of your school years. That was until you moved to Galar to continue studying.

So far your only friends were Hop, Milo, Marnie, Gloria (Fairy Gym Leader), Nessa, Melony, Sonia, and Bea. Your two Eeveelutions didn't like men all that much since boys were the main bullies from your younger years. Hop and Milo were the exceptions since Leafeon and Glaceon could tell that they had good intentions and wouldn't hurt you in any way. There were some people in Galar who would bully you and they would either wake up to a yard full of leaves or a yard full of ice that was covered in snow.

Raihan wanted to befriend you, but your two friends wouldn't allow it to happen. You would always have to put them into their Great Balls in order to talk to him. You couldn't blame them because Raihan is an intimidating-looking man. Towering over you and his fangs were a little scary at first. Leafeon would give him cuts by using razor leaf and Glaceon would purposely make the surrounding area cold by using snowy terrain.

It has been two years since you came to Galar and your two partners have eased up a little bit. They now like Kabu, Leon, Bede, Gordie, and Piers. Raihan was close to giving up on becoming friends with you entirely because he still isn't liked or even remotely close to being liked. That was until he was sitting with you on your bed while you were crying. You were crying because your boyfriend of three years broke up with you over text. Leafeon and Glaceon were laying their heads on your lap trying to comfort you. You were leaning your head against Raihans chest in a way that he couldn't see your tear-stained face.

"Y/N, I am going, to be honest with you and you may not like what I am about to say."

You sniffle and hiccup before responding

"What is it, Rai?"

"Your boyfriend was a complete jerk. He didn't deserve you."

You remove your head from his chest and look up at him.

"What do you mean?"

"What I mean is that you deserve someone who will treat you like you are the queen of the world."

You giggle a little bit before sniffing again

"I am no queen, Raihan. You know that."

He gently takes your hands in one of his and puts his other hand on your cheek.

"You are a queen, Y/N. You may not see it. But you are a queen to your Leafeon and Glaceon."

The two Pokémon nuzzle against you making happy purring noises agreeing with Raihan.

"And if I am being honest. You are my queen. I would do anything to see you smile. I will embarrass myself in order to make you laugh."

After telling you that he kisses the top of your head and you smile.

"Thank you, Raihan. I appreciate that. I really do."

"You are very welcome. Now, why don't you lay down with Leafeon and Glaceon and take a nap because I bet you feel tired after letting out all those emotions."

You nod and lay down. Glaceon and Leafeon lay down by your feet. Raihan gets off the bed and heads towards the door until you grab his hand.

"Could you cuddle with me, Raihan? Please?"

He looks at you and then at the two Pokémon for their responses. They nod their heads, yes and he lays down next to you putting your head on his chest. You and Raihan smile knowing that Leafeon and Glaceon finally accept that he would never hurt you. Ever.

Okay so. You all know how in Galar and Paldea there's actual letters/script? Actual text in a fake alphabet language thing. Anyways. I wrote Drayton's name.

[ I got everything from THIS AMAZING WEBSITE! It was genuinely fascinating to read, and they have a Galarian font available to download! ]

The actual Galarian letters don't have exact English matches, and while a lot of them are used semi-consistently, that doesn't mean they're used to consistently for the same English letter in different words. That means that "translating" Drayton's name into Galarian was about half looking at the consistent use of certain letters and about half "I like how this one looks better, so I'll use it instead of the other one."

One thing I'd like to say is that from a worldbuilding standpoint, I personally headcanon Unova having it's own language. I know a lot of people (understandably) use Galarian as a stand-in for English, and since Unova is America Region, and America speaks English primarily, Unova speaks Galarian. I don't subscribe to that particular line of thinking. But! Because we don't have a "Unovan" text, at least that I've found, we get Galarian, which works fine anyways because the same characters are used in Paldea and subsequently the DLC. Anyways.

Drayton's name with Galarian characters! I tried to get it as "accurate" as possible, but of course, since there isn't any actual confirmed "This letter means this/makes this noise" it can't be accurate at all at the same time as being completely accurate. There isn't anything official to go off of, so the letter's mean what I want them too. Schrodinger's accuracy.

Now, here's some attempts of me handwriting his name, and figuring out a signature. Simply because I thought it'd be fun. Forgive my horrible handwriting. Drayton gets it from me.

^ This was where I actually started getting it down solid, and you can see that progression as I got more confident and comfortable with the signature. Fun fact! I have now spent more time developing a signature in a nonsense language for a fictional character that I have developing my own. Yes, that is somewhat sad.

And, if you want, here's some other characters' names that I translated over. Spelling, specifically with Iridaceae, was more vibes-based than anything else. I went with a more phonetic spelling, so a closer "Galarian-to-English" translation would be "Eridaycie".

This was actually really fun to do, so if you're a bit of a nerd like me, then I totally recommend "translating" your characters' name. Whether that mean going more in-depth like I did, or just downloading the font and typing it in English to see what comes out.

Dexholders Clothes Stealing Headcanons

Kanto: 

Green just doesn't own clothes anymore. Blue, Yellow and Red just steal all of them. Yellow actually brings them back, because she's nice unlike the other 2 heathens. His purple shirt? Nope that's Red's now. His black aviator jacket? Yellow was cold so she borrowed it for the winter. His lab coat? Blue need it for a scam and she ain't bringing it back. Sweatpants, black t-shirt? His purple cargo pants? Gone! Because he's the tallest and his clothes are just too damn comfy.

Johto:

All three of them just share clothes at this point. Gold will search for his favourite hoodie only to remember Crystal took it. Silver would meet with Blue and she would compliment his white jacket, except it's not his, it's Crystal's. Crystal would just do laundry and find like, Gold's shorts and Silver's jacket. They also have a schedule for who gets Gold's hoodie because the damn thing is just so soft.

Hoenn:

I don't think they share any clothes. They have widely different styles that wouldn't work on the others. Maybe Emerald would occasionally steal like, Ruby's ribbons that he uses in contests to tie his hair or something. But mostly no clothes thieves here.

Sinnoh:

Platina steals all of the sweaters and jackets, definitely. She would go meet with Cynthia or Prof. Rowan and she's wearing Dia's jacket. One time she went to one of Dia and Pearl's gigs, and after the show when she went to see them backstage, she's wearing Pearl's sweater and Pearl goes ”Wait that's mine!” They don't mind of course. Also Dia steals all of her fancy hats so they're even.

Unova:

White steals everyone's clothes, but she does it without even realizing which is way funnier. She just goes to visit Whi-two and N and when she's back home she realizes she's wearing Whi-two's shoes and N's hat. And she's like. How did that happen? She's meeting with Elesa in Virbank and she's wearing like, Black's jacket and pants, looking like she's in cosplay, and Elesa would point it out and White looks at herself and goes ”Huh. I guess I am wearing Black's clothes again...” Lack-two would just randomly text her ”I am putting you under arrest.” And White would freak out and ask why, what did she do? And Lack-two just texts her ”I couldn't find my favourite shorts again and you appeared in an interview wearing them yesterday.” Poor girl has no idea how this keeps happening.

Kalos:

X steals everything. Like legit no clothes are safe from this man. If someone were to look through his wardrobe they'd find like Y's sweaters, Tierno's t-shirts, Shauna's shirts and Trevor's pants. He has like, multiple clothes he stole from his friends. And he's not even trying to hide it. Y would somehow convince him to leave the house and he shows up in Tierno's black Vanillite t-shirt, one of Shauna's jackets, Trevor's sweatpants, Y's fluffy socks and Green's boots that he somehow got a hold of.

Alola:

They trade hats and shirts. Nothing else just hats and shirts. And it's a mutual agreement too. Moon goes to Sun like ”I'll trade you my red hat for your blue tank top.” and Sun goes ”I'll throw in my blue and white t-shirt too if you give me your yellow floral shirt.” ”Deal.” People point it out all the time but they just say ”I got it in a fair trade, therefore it is mine now.”

Galar:

Their system is like a combination between the Alola duo and the Johtrio. Because they share clothes, but sometimes Sou would refuse to give Schilly her sweater back so she has to bargain. ”I'll give you one of my sweatshirts if you give me my sweater back.” ”Not soft enough.” ”How about my fuzzy parka? That's soft.” ”Yeah but its too hot for that.” Schilly has to bet like half her wardrobe to get that 1 sweater back. Marvin also steals their socks.
