The funniest thing about tgawlocg is Benicio is the least relatable character to me
Which maybe is intentional?
He doesn't get a chance to like... kinda fuck up on screen, and even though he scoffs when Caleb says he doesn't have any faults, we also don't really see them as the audience
All the other characters you hang around with for a bit and go "Oh! You kinda suck!" (positive), but Benicio remains as Caleb sees him

The only way you could possibly think Freckle was a problematic transphobic caricature is if you paid exactly zero attention to everything else that every other character did and said throughout the series.
I feel like part of the beauty of The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo is that they never say this part aloud, but somehow it’s still a little frustrating to me that people missed the point so here we go: everyone was based on stereotypes; they all do problematic things, but they’re all still people and their shenanigans were mostly harmless!
