Ω 6x01/6x02 - Wake Up/Escape from the Citadel [WATCH] - Finn and Jake need to get to the Citadel, and Prismo agrees to help. But the Lich beats them to it, and it seems he's got some plans of his own.

♥ 6x03- James II [WATCH] - An excess of James.

6x04- The Tower [WATCH] [alt]- Finn's missing his arm, so he decides to build a tower into space so he can punch his dad and steal HIS arm instead. Solid plan, right?

¿ 6x05 - Sad Face [WATCH] - A circus, and a clown.

♪ 6x06 - Breezy [WATCH] - Finn's flower isn't doing so well, and Finn himself isn't feeling anything, but his new bee friend Breezy wants to help. Stay tuned for spook (me, that's me) starting a petition to retitle this show 'what the hell did I just watch.'

6x12 - Ocarina [WATCH] - Kim Kil Whan buys the treehouse and tries to teach Jake a lesson about responsibility. It goes suuuper well.

6x13 - Thanks for the Crabapples, Giuseppe [WATCH] - Ice King and his fellow offbeats go on a wizard road trip to form their own secret society.

6x14- Princess Day [WATCH] - Breakfast Princess gets rude with LSP. Mistake! Time for her and Marceline to mess up the Breakfast Kingdom way bad.

6x15 - Nemesis [WATCH] - There's a great evil in the Candy Kingdom which must be stopped.

6x16 - Joshua and Margaret Investigations [WATCH] - Finn and Jake's parents fought monsters, too! Even when their mom was way super about-to-pop pregnant, apparently.

6x17 - Ghost Fly [WATCH] - Jake kills a fly, because flies are disgusting. But ghost flies seem to be worse. Oops?

6x18 - Everything's Jake [WATCH] - Bender searches inside himself and finds that Fry has been with him all along Jake goes on an inner journey, but like, literally. not really spiritually so much.

♥ 6x19 - Is That You? [WATCH] - Jake and Finn mourn Prismo, and then things get super bananas up in their dreamspace.

6x20 - Jake the Brick [WATCH] - Jake observes nature as he spends some time as just another brick in the wall.

6x21 - Dentist [WATCH] - Finn's tooth is in real bad shape, and he has to face facts: it is time for him to Go Dentist.

6x22 - The Cooler [WATCH] - There's a crisis in the Flame Kingdom, and FP makes the (objectively terrible??) decision to turn to PB for help.

6x23 - Pajama Wars [WATCH] - Sleepover in the Candy Kingdom! Nothing terrible is happening.

6x30 - The Diary [WATCH] - Fandom can be a consuming thing. TV finds an old diary and gets a little too into it.

6x31 - Walnuts & Rain [WATCH] - Finn and Jake get separated and go on different (weird) journeys.

6x32 - Friends Forever [WATCH] - Ice King tries to make himself some new friends. It goes terribly.

6x33 - Jermaine [WATCH] - After Jake has a shared dream with Jermaine, the boys go to visit their brother, who’s still living in their childhood home.

6x34 - Chips and Ice Cream [WATCH] - Chips, chips chips chips. Ice cream ice cream. (A travelling performer passes his curse on to Jake. It doesn’t go well.)

6x35 - Graybles 1000+ [WATCH] - Graybles, again, some more. Apparently the Candy Kingdom is still around however much further in the future, and someone’s still putting up string lights at Marceline’s. So there’s that.

6x36 - Hoots [WATCH] - The Cosmic Owl gets distracted by a mystery lady’s pretty set of tailfeathers.

6x37 - Water Park Prank [WATCH] - Finn and Jake (and the Ice King) spend the day at the water park.

6x38 - You Forgot Your Floaties [WATCH] - Magic Man, up to his usual biz, but this time he’s getting a helping hand from Betty. No way this will go horribly wrong??

6x39 - Be Sweet [WATCH] - For some inexplicable reason, Tree Trunks thinks LSP is a good choice for a babysitter. Yikes.

6x40 - Orgalorg [WATCH] - Gunther and the Gunts throw a houseparty.

6x41 - On the Lam [WATCH] - Martin finds another group of adorable creatures to try to exploit. yay.

6x42/6x43 - Hot Diggity Doom/The Comet [WATCH] - An election in the Candy Kingdom, and an impending catastrophe.

SEASON SEVEN

7x01 - Bonnie & Neddy [WATCH] - The King of Ooo continues his efforts to be the worst. PB has to help someone important to her get back to where he belongs.

7x02 - Varmints [WATCH] - Bubblegum tries to protect her pumpkin patch; Marceline lends a hand.

7x03 - Cherry Cream Soda [WATCH] - A candy citizen comes back from the dead, causing some complications for those he’d left behind.

7x04 - Mama Said [WATCH] - While out on a mission for the King of Ooo, Finn and Jake run into Billy’s ex-gf Canyon and decide to help her out instead.

Hii, I'm so shy asking this but I read somewhere you have a list of upstead moments, would you share it with me? If it's not too much 🙈

I am very sorry I just saw this!! I hope you haven’t sent this a long time ago. I’ve finished the last season recently but I haven’t done this one yet. and pls don’t be shy!! I am so happy you asked. not many people like them.

I don’t have time stamps just some shorthand notes to remind me of the scene. and every instance they call each other by their names (I had this idea to gif them or make a video etc.) but all the moments are in chronological order so if you see the third moment before the first one when you’re watching an episode that means you skipped the first two. the list is under the cut.

ps. there might be some other moments that I liked that are not necessarily upstead.

MY Problems with Olicity in S6

I realize this may not be a popular post and you should feel free to skip :) But one of my biggest problems with Season 6 has been Olicity and it’s mainly due to both characters being written out of character.

I LOVE Olicity. I’ve cheered for them for a long time. I also love Oliver and Felicity separately but probably Felicity a little more...but then there is THE HAIR...I never would have thought there would come a time where I didn’t wish them to marry. But it did and this is coming from a girl who was just find with a quickie wedding on Lian Yu beach in 5x23. But season 6 changed Olicity in my opinion in a way I never dreamed possible. So no, the fact that they are married doesn’t just tie things up in a bow for me.

So the season started with Olicity not together because Oliver rightly had to focus on William. We are told that they talked and agreed to put their relationship on hold for this purpose. This all made sense.

But we quickly learn that close to six months have passed since that decision was made and William seems to be doing okay. He knows Raisa, he goes to school, we even see him interacting with Oliver and he seems as okay as one can be after what he’s gone through. The only person not allowed to spend time with him is Felicity. And she is clearly, understandable hurt by this.

It comes down to trust. Oliver did not trust her to be near William. I can’t imagine how horrible this felt...but we did see reflected in her desperation to be included, her shock when Oliver suggested she come over in 6x01 - like he’d never done it before. Watch her face drop in the gif below.

It was heartbreaking because Felicity is amazing and of course she would want to support Oliver and William. And it’s seems the only way she can do that is by following the agreement.

Oliver at this point is simply overwhelmed. I doubt he even noticed anything going on with Felicity. He was too busy being a single-father, Mayor and Green Arrow.

It was just a rough place to start after I foolishly thought we would start 6x01 with them together.

Then we get to 6x03, when Oliver finally allows Felicity to see William. It broke my heart to see how desperately she wanted this. But there was still insecurity. At the end of 6x03, Oliver deemed she was safe to be in William’s life - or at least that’s how I determined it and she hopped back into his arms - literally - WITH NO TALK. What changed to make her suddenly trustable with his child?

6x04 was a lovely honeymoon phase where Felicity actually got to do something, the only time in all of Season 6. William wasn’t discussed everything was perfect.

Not going to lie, I loved it.

6x05 and 6x06 were the waste of time Slade shows. But the end of 6x06 we see Oliver come home to see Felicity and William there together. This should have been wonderful. Instead, Felicity is defensive about being there. She is STILL insecure about whether or not she can have a relationship with William. Which is insane. To his credit, Oliver does actually say I’m so glad you are here BUT HE HAD TOO.

6x07 Everything is peachy keen and they are the perfect happy family

Arrow 6x08 More happy Olicity until he brings up marriage and Felicity says NOW. I literally cheered! Yes, it’s going to happen. She’s going to tell him her insecurities about trust they are going to talk and then get married! It will be WONDERFUL. But of course that did not happen. The writers decided Felicity said no because she’s scared of happened when they were engaged before - legit BUT WAY out there for me. So they tied it up with a bow with a “wedding” that I try never to think of. Felicity said she was marrying Oliver because she was afraid of losing him - that just sounds majorly unhealthy to me. It felt fast underhanded and the Felicity I know and love would have handled the whole hjacking wedding thing very differently. Again pushing it out of my mind. Think about that - I have to push my OTP’s wedding out of my mind because it upsets me so much.

6x09 I can’t tell you how many times I watched the first 10 minutes of this episode over and over. THIS was the wedding my OTP deserved. I tried to come to terms that they are never going to discuss their issues and move on from it.

6x10-6x13 - A few tiny Olicity scenes, which honestly is what I anticipated happening once they married. I swear they touched more when they weren’t together. Felicity was completely submissive, never telling Oliver when he’s wrong - nothing. This was poor writing and I’m sure Oliver greatly appreciates Felicity’s opinion.

6x14 or as I like to call the episode where Felicity woke up.

The whole premise of this episode was wrong. And Felicity went right along with it. Oliver protected Felicity and that was nice to see - although, I never doubted he would.

6x15 only the second episode of Arrow I liked this year. Olicity were fabulous and written well - for the most part.

6x16 was more blah, would have been nice to see a conversation between Olicity regarding the whole Nyssa wife thing but my expectations are in the toilet right now - so not shocked.

6x17 Felicity is staying by her man. Not getting into the whole Diggle thing here, would need another post.

6x18 Felicity tells Oliver - I’m glue - it is definitely the most romantic and best Olicity moment of the season - and they got married this season, remember? 6x04, 6x15 and 6x18 may be the only watchable episodes for me of the season.

Felicity calling him her man - hehehe- I was positively giddy.

Which brings us to 6x19 - definitely a low point for Olicity. Which was especially cruel after I was so happy. Felicity is legit upset and Oliver ignores her feelings and Felicity ALLOWS it - I’m still not over it. WTF?! It was out of character for both characters. Oliver has been obtuse in the past but this, THIS - took it to a whole new level. Felicity clearly expressed her feelings and he brushed them off as though she was a child and she KISSED him. Clearly I’m upset about this.

So needless to say, I’m counting the days until the punishment of Season 6 is over. I’m trying to keep my hope for Olicity alive - but man it’s been hard. And no, I don’t think any of this will be solved with a baby. But I wrote another post about that.

CaptainSwan Screen Time Season 6

For anyone who is curious, a friend and I decided to tally up the screen time numbers. Here is how much screen time CaptainSwan spent speaking directly to each other in season 6:

TOTAL: 25.45mn out of a possible 924mn of air time. This did not include the seashell conversation (add .30 seconds if you want) nor did it include Wish Realm Hook. And no wonder I found this season to be boring!

That is a startling low number for a TV show’s most popular couple. Even from the start of the season, I could sense that CS was being pushed to the side in favor of Regina and secondary story lines. These numbers do not lie. That feeling was real. And it was sad.

Just look at the CaptainSwan WEDDING episode! For their WEDDING they spent a total of 3.10 minutes out of a 42 minute episode together. For THEIR WEDDING! And why? So that Zelena could have an amazing song that really didn’t contribute to the plot? It wasn’t necessary. It WAS amazing. But it wasn’t necessary. It was rather insulting how much the EQ sang in the episode compared to CaptainSwan as well. Her first song could have been cut as well for more CS WEDDING time. Don’t get me wrong, I am so grateful we got this wedding but it could have and should have been SO much more.

And then you have the FINAL episode we will ever have of CaptainSwan. And they spent 50 seconds together.

CaptainSwan was put on the back burner this season. They were used as a failed plot device (see first proposal) and set pieces (see Killian during Wish Realm). They were given rehashed obstacles (more secrets? really?) and adventures with no follow through (beanstalk). They were separated & reunited multiple times without a payoff. With this in my mind, how do I have hope for their future?

FYI: Season 5 CaptainSwan screen time was a total of 77.30 minutes. It tapered off a lot during the last half of the season as we began to see more of Regina!

Season 6 Primer

my stupid fcking computer kept crashing while i was writing this,it was like it was protesting the idea that there are only TWO MORE SEASONS LEFT AAHHHHHHHHH

@wellntruly I can’t believe that I only have one more season primer to write and damn @memory-for-trifles I felt your pain in trying to figure out what to bold for MUST SEE on this list, I just wanted to do all of them!!! so instead I switched it up a little and just bolded the ones that were NECESSARY for plot development (...and then I cheated by italicizing the ones I just really liked)

6x01- 6x06 This is a SIX PARTER, because DS9 goes fucking HARD CORE sometimes. It's not even the longest multi-parter, just wait till next season. anyways, our darling crew are separated, some desperately trying to organize an internal resistance (again, for poor Kira under her second occupation) and some battling out amongst the stars. Things are very dark, but there is always hope, by which I mean hilarity - especially in the form of your favorite Le Carre character

6x01 everyone tries to figure out the new normal in life at war with the Dominion

6x02 lots of soldier vs officer feels (WARNING: there is a suicide)

6x03 all about the relationship between parents and children, starring Worf/Alexander and Dukat/Ziyal

6x04 female changeling appears to try to seduce Odo to the dark side (quark misses Deep Space Drink as much as we do)

6x05 both sides begin to try to take back DS9, from the inside and out, in the first part of a mini-two parter WITHIN the six-parter (jeez Deep Space Serialization)

6x06 THE FINAL BATTLE!!!

6x07 WEDDING EPISODE, WEDDING EPISODE, WEDDING EPISODE!!! featuring all your tropey favorites (terrible mother-in-law, bridezilla, bachelor party shenanigans etc) but with with SPACE TWISTS. I honestly love this episode SO MUCH, what a wonderful return to Deep Space Domesticity after so long at war

6x08 MIRROR VERSE! although it's a bit of a switcheroo because this is mostly Mirror verse characters coming into OUR world rather than the other way around. It's very relationship heavy, about Bareil and Kira, and is pretty skippable but also Mirror verse Kira is in it and I ADORE her

6x09 an episode based entirely around Bashir's enhancements, and the idea of 'what happened to the other kids who got enhancements, but weren't able to hide it like he did?' There's some interesting stuff here about disability, mental illness, and the way society treats the neurodiverse

6x10 a fun adventure episode in which the Ferengi go on a mission to be big damn heroes, and maybe make a little latinum in the process (fun story: Iggy Pop is in this episode!)

6x11 Sisko and Dukat get ship wrecked, Lost style (so the answer to your question 'is this lost' will FINALLY be yes) Dukat goes crazy just as fast as you'd expect in this AMAZING episode that manages to keep up tons of tension while basically just being two people talking for an hour

6x12 just like Morn manages to be a recurring character without ever actually saying a word this episode manages to be ALL ABOUT HIM while not having him in it pretty much at all. it's a fun little romp that explores how even background characters have their own lives going on while we're focusing on the main cast

6x13 I think this might be the most critically acclaimed star trek episode like... ever? it was definitely up for 3 emmys and is most of the casts's favorite episode. IT'S JUST REALLY THAT GOOD. It's sci-fi and Star Trek at it's best. It makes me cry every time, and is still painfully important today with it's struggle between desperation and hope regarding civil rights. Super notable for this episode basically saying that sometimes you just need to say FUCK METAPHORS and scream about how horrible racism is without pretending it’s about aliens. Also the only time in ST history an actor has directed an episode where he was the central character, since they wanted to have a black director and Avery wanted this episode

6x14 Honey I Shrunk The Runabout! it’s a fun little episode with plenty of Bashir/O’Brien banter

6x15 O'Brien goes UNDERCOVER and things GO SOUTH in this grungy gangster AU. there is one really funny scene back on DS9 that is literally just that the station is falling apart without O'Brien's magic touch in another case of B-plot being way better than A-plot - it's only one scene, so just watch that and get out

6x16 Dax and Worf are Adorable, shade is thrown at TNG, and hilarious zingers are thrown about as they tramp through a jungle before things abruptly get Very Very Serious. it's pretty much pure Relationship episode so I loved it

6x17 Kira gets to meet her mother when she time-travels back to the Occupation in another episode of the ongoing saga Kira Searches For Truth No Matter How Painful And Enraging in this incredible and incredibly intense episode

6x18 a switch up, in that BASHIR Must Suffer, as he's accused of being a Dominion spy, not just a James Bond spy. Really intense and spirals quickly into some very dark places

6x19 the road to hell is paved with good intentions in another one of DS9's most famous and intense episodes, revolving around Sisko and Garak as Sisko asks himself what he's willing to do to protect the Alpha Quadrant.

6x20 A space rom-com featuring cupid as a 1960's lounge singer who's perfectly aware he's a holoprogram pally. Who better than an AI to teach Odo how to stop being such a square and get down with the cool cats? you finally get an episode that’s just ALL ABOUT THIS STATION’S LARPING

6x21 holy shit, quite literally, as Bajor's gods decide it's time for THE END OF DAYS. The Reckoning is at hand on DS9!

6x22 a Nog-centric episode where he and Jake end up stranded in a war zone with a bunch of wild-eyed cadets

6x23 considered the worst episode of DS9, it features Quark getting a temporary sex change. there's some nuggets of good stuff, especially the feminist movement, and Shimmerman does his best with a terrible script, but on the whole this was definitely one long cringe of an episode

6x24 Molly gets accidentally transported to the age of dinosaurs, only a few hours pass for us but 10 years go by for her. the rest of the episode is the O'Briens trying to come to terms with their new feral daughter and reintegrate her into society in a really weird, dark Tarzan-ish episode. The B-plot is a lovely bit of Jadzia-Worf relationship as they babysit Kirayoshi, if you skip this episode then at least watch that part

6x25 this is basically DS9 therapy hour, and it’s GREAT (what do you mean I’m biased as a therapist-in-training and that this isn’t actually plot necessary? SH-SHUT UP, YOU’RE BIASED! IT’S MY PRIMER I DO WHAT I WANT!! IT’S NECESSARY TO MY HEART)

6x26 this seriously feels like the darkest, saddest DS9 season finale EVER, so like... BRING TISSUES. NO, MORE TISSUES THAN THAT. NO, MORE.

2017 TD Re-Watch Schedule

Okay, so I've had several requests to do a re-watch of the series over the hiatus. While it's a great idea (and I'm always down for re-watching) you all just have to realize that as time goes on and we get more episodes, it gets harder and harder to rewatch all of them in a short period of time (even if that time is a long, 6-month hiatus).

So we have 99 episodes to watch in only about 25 weeks (depending on when the S8 premiere actually airs. We don't have a specific date yet).

So here's what I'm gonna do:

The first three seasons aren't entirely relevant because Gimple wasn't the showrunner back then. And that's not to say that there aren't TD clues in them. There are places where it's obvious he went back to earlier seasons and built on what was already there. But the point is that there won't be tons in those first three seasons. At least, not nearly as much as in S4-S7.

So. Basically, starting next week, we're going to watch the first three seasons very quickly. We'll take 4 weeks to rewatch all three seasons. That's 35 episodes (S1 = 6, S2=13, S3=16) in 4 weeks.

I know that's super-fast. But remember that there won't be tons in these episodes. I will probably only do 1 (possibly 2) posts for each season high lighting what little TD evidence there is in each. You can break these seasons up however you want if you're following along. (I will basically try to watch 2 episodes/day during the week, as the weekend currently isn't a good time for me to count on episode watching time. Of course everyone's schedule will be different, so if you want to re-watch with us, work them in wherever you can.)

Just keep in mind that if you can't keep up with S1-3, you won't be missing tons from a TD perspective. And what there is, I'll post about. Also, most of us have seen all the episodes before, so if you miss an episode, no big deal. Make it up later or just skip it and go to the next. Whatever suits you best.

I will probably post about S1 at the end of week 1, S2 at the end of the second or 3rd week, depending on how quickly I watch it, and then S3 at the end of the 4 weeks.

The reason I want to do it this way is that it will then give us time to go a little more slowly with S4-S7.

That said, we'll still have 64 episodes to watch in 21 weeks. (4 seasons with 16 episodes each.) That's roughly 3 episodes per week. And while that's intensive, I think it's much more doable than 4-5 episodes per week, which is what we would have to do if we gave all 7 seasons equal time.

So here's a tentative schedule. It may change as time goes on, but I'll stick to it as closely as possible:

Just to repeat, I already have re-watch posts for S4-S6. I’ll probably just repost those and add/update anything new I’ve seen after seeing S7.
