The main Characters ✨
Just realised I’ve never introduced the main characters wow
Tumblr media
Henry Jekyll, Edward Hyde, Sherlock Holmes, Dorian Gray, Victor Frankenstein
These are the characters that’ll appear explicitly named, but there will be other literature characters hiding out in backgrounds as cameos :))

If it's not a spoiler (who am i kidding i want to know so bad) will the game punish the mc for being like to evil or manipulate or can the mc get away with it if they have the right stats?
Also will the game have like a cheat mode for those who don't want to calculate all their moves based on stats?
honestly speaking, the stats would barely do anything in this game. the only time they would actually matter is during relationships and how certain characters react to things around you. depending on how the MC treats the ROs (and a few side characters), your ending will be designed through that.
now, i don't want to unnecessarily punish y'all for being ‘too’ evil or manipulative cause that's kind of the point of this story, but you won't be able to get away by being a complete ass to everyone. so basically, the better you treat everyone (and yes, this is whilst being manipulative and scheming), the better will be your ending.

i think what's the most heartbreaking about all these relationships is that they can't be normal siblings or friends or even romantic partners (though that hasn't really been brought up as a legitimate issue). Something about the dual nature of public opinion, how it can make you rise to heights but also stunt your growth both in your public and private lives. Something about how personas can hurt the person behind them. Something about how these guys also see themselves as a product rather than a person, and how fans unfortunately end up doing the same to celebrities even if they don't want to because....it's not the fan's fault for deciding to stop following a celebrity they like and helping contribute to their fall when they were also the reason for their rise. Something about how this push for romantic stereotypes will always hurt celebrities who just want to be friends with each other, whether they be a woman-man, man-man, or woman-woman duo

dude I totally relate to your comment about weird male regulars.
used to work in a high end restaurant and this one dude would try to hit on me and give crazy tips thinking I’d go home with him. I thought it was a joke at first but it kept happening and it was so uncomfortable. ended up asking one of my male coworkers to wait his table.
then there was another dude who would show us his vacation pictures all the time but it would just be him with topless women. had slimey smile and everything, he knew what he was doing.
Men are just gross 🤢
We had this one regular, a really old guy who would slip us a little cash tip when we brought his food out to him, but then he started getting creepy imo because he would like hold onto my hand a little too long when he slipped me the money, so I stopped taking it out to him and had someone else do it, and then I found out that he was hugging some of the girls (because we’re pretty much only a female staff here) and would kiss some of them on the cheek, and one of my coworkers even said if she sat down at his table just to chat with him he would like put his hand on her thigh (and she let him, like she thought it was perfectly fine and funny, like wtf no it’s not okay)
Just in general we have some gross and entitled male customers here that I just can’t stand. And the regulars just get a little too comfortable after a while I think, but I did decide yesterday that I just need to not let them bother me. Like if they want to ask for my number or whatever I can tell them no lol
I’m just glad I’ve never had anyone show me pictures like you were talking about. That’s just too weird.

#im also begging for any thoughts on hair braiding nights [via @be-gay-do-heists, here]
I think parker gets like… the cheeriest most glittery plastic beads. chubby unicorns. iridescent stars. pastel rainbow beads. it takes quite a while before quinn trusts parker enough not to shift away when she starts shifting closer, but eventually she just perches on the back of the sofa behind him and he just sits quite still and lets her at it, flashing cheeky grins at eliot that make him roll his eyes.
he won't leave private spaces like that though, with tidy hair braids and colourful beads dotted through them. not unless there's (for instance) a gunman in the brewpub and then you bet he'll be dealing with that and then demanding alec scrub the footage, with his most serious hitter face on.
eliot, though, does leave the apartment with whatever she's wrangled into his hair on movie nights or over breakfast. he never protests the braids. he keeps suitably dignified hair beads around for when her fingers get itchy and she wants to put them in for him.
and one time he spends an entire day taking down goons with a shiny teddy bear tucked behind his ear and occasionally flying free and whapping him in the cheek, and parker leans over to kiss it hello at the end of the day, and he grumbles and flushes bright red while hardison grins warm and wide in the driver's seat.
later, walking through one of eliot's safehouses and looking more than touching, she finds the bear tucked into a spare wallet in the back of a drawer.

Hot take, but I don't think making criticisms of a character strictly "as they appears in canon" and saying they's shallow or bland or in any way lacking in qualities or traits (as opposed to making judgments about qualities or traits a character DOES have or debating which specific traits or qualities a character has) - makes any sense in the context of consuming media.
Because by the sheer fact of excluding anything not said or implied in canon, you are thoroughly breaking suspension of disbelief. By suspension of disbelief, the audience sees a character and assumes that traits are there, even if there are very few onscreen. This not headcanon because the audience is not coming up with what those traits are. The audience is only assuming that traits of some kind must exist that make this character a Real Person, because in suspension of disbelief we are behaving as if this is Real Life. And if you knew a person who was bland or shallow you wouldn't say they were bland or shallow; you would say you didn't know them that well.
So. Character A is not bland or shallow, they simply haven't been shown on-screen enough. Perhaps the creators haven't come up with any such traits yet, perhaps because they're not good at their job or perhaps because this character isn't built to do anything besides exist as a plot device. But the traits still exist, because suspension of disbelief is a superpower that makes everyone a Real Person with hidden struggles and secrets and flaws that they don't let anybody see or that the audience has just so happened to never see or that the screenwriters and producers carefully edited out to be just offscreen bc they don't know what those traits are either!
Now suspension of disbelief does take effort and not everyone is willing to put out that effort to reach a place where they enjoy the character. Maybe the character has very few redeeming qualities regardless.
Saying a character is two-dimensional, bland, boring, etc. is not a valid criticism of the author. It is only a valid criticism of your ability or willingness to suspend disbelief. If you want to enjoy the content, why aren't you enjoying it? And if you enjoy it for other reasons 'but this one character - ' why are you shattering other people's suspension of disbelief for them?
(Rabbit-holey and incomplete rambling about the mechanics of suspension of disbelief and how much people are willing to suspend disbelief and how much work the authors have to put in versus how much the audience puts in, below the cut.)
Some characters do require more suspension of disbelief than others. Major characters with too few traits are a turn-off to some ppl bc they don't want to have to put in the work of assuming traits where there are none (because there aren't; the person isn't real). If someone dislikes a character already that puts them further at risk for losing their suspension of disbelief. If a character isn't compelling or doesn't evoke an emotional response? By all means. Characters who don't naturally evoke responses need more work put into them by the authors.
Author and audience meet halfway. Sometimes a character evokes a response by being compelling or emotional, and then the author can get away with less filling-in of the blanks bc the audience is invested enough already. But if the audience isn't invested, the author needs to provide more content about the character so that the facade - that this ink on paper is in any way equivalent to a real person - can be maintained.
Now the more important a character is in the story, the more work the author needs to put in. If a character has two lines in the story, the author only needs to write the two lines, and the audience assumes this is a full-fledged person with a full array of traits, without question, because those traits never become relevant or impact the story in a meaningful or compelling way that would require explanation.
But if the character is a major love interest, the audience needs more substantiation of the claim that they is a real person with traits, because this character is impacting the plot and other characters. A love interest needs more than two lines to be accepted as a valid love interest. A main character can only swoon for an unexplored love interest with two lines so many times before the audience asks, why does she like him anyway? We don't know anything about him! At least tell us what he looks like or if he's shaved today or if he's done anything swoon-worthy for her!
A character may also have traits without them being related to the impact they has on the plot; e.g. the love interest used to have a stamp collection when they was five (and this never becomes relevant and the main character who is falling for him does not herself have an interest in stamp collections). That's a trait, but it is not a helpful one insofar as understanding the impact a character has on the plot.
And in addition to giving substance to the claim that a character exists, traits enable the audience to relate to and care about a character, which is the real bread and butter of enjoying a story and being impacted by it. I won't go into that tonight bc that's a whole new topic.
My point is that of course characters need SOME traits, and relevant ones, and preferably in proportion to their role and impact on the plot. (Just as a major love interest with two lines is unsatisfying, a two-line character with pages of backstory is similarly boring.) The line can be hard to strike for an author, but we can help them out by developing a robust ability to suspend disbelief.
So an amendment to my hot take: sometimes characters CAN be criticized for their trait-to-relevance ratio. And then the question is yours: do you put out the effort to suspend disbelief or not?
If we're not willing to put that level of work in for the level of enjoyment that would generate, well, maybe find a different story or at least stop criticizing other people's fav characters for being boring. (It's a lot harder to suspend disbelief when people are actively breaking it. But! That's what unfollowing and/or blocking is for!)
Remember everyone: the secret to enjoying media is suspension of disbelief. If someone shatters that, remember you can get it back if you're willing to try again.

#shrimpteresting to me how g witch's horrific politics and dissapointing yuri industrial complex stem from the same root#a shiny facade but ultimately never challenging the status quo#ig thats why prospera's character doesnt work as is#suletta's personal arc (and ericht's if she had one) is supposed to be reclaiming personal agency n standing up against child abuse#but the message of the series is ultimately 'you're not evil if you're trying to improve' so any realistic moral complexity cant be present#and a char without antiheroism is an angel without wings!#gwitch also made the mistake of having commonalities w CCA without any political legs to stand on (heh)#specifically the idea of 'turning children into weapons' wrt to quess (metaphorically) and ericht (literally)#because CCA is using intercharacter drama as the medium for political statement its free to do intense earnest shit#like criticising militaries and their recruitment by comparing it to CSA--a real thing that exists beyond fictional cockpits#its intense but not unwarranted as its relevant to military and political power irl--it'd be inaccurate to NOT address it#whereas prospera's warcrimes are cartoonish death star shit with no direct real world equivalents (unless we invent idk evil bluetooth)#since actual abuse (or ericht having traits lol) undermines bandai namcos ability to merchandise their (doubly!) objectified characters#anyways i think its acceptable for gay women to not kiss ONLY if they fight to the death in space. its equality. its emma and reccoa.#abs blabs

i looove putting spark over songs about like heroes and saving the world (tom cardy's 'level clear', uncle outrage's 'saved the world' <- nice voice hc for him!. and 'my superhero movie'.) when he like. Did. Not : ) funney.
#sprksplrs#gaia talked about spark wanting to be desired yesterday and while i think he's too much of a Lone Wolf... for those kinds of wants to#even surface. at least in my interpretation of him. its hilarious to think abt him getting. just a tad insecure abt fark's status as#a real like. superhero basically. just for a second in the far back of his head. oh i want to be as cool as him. im not good enough#tho again in my characterization he only wants to do that to be able to love himself. i first got this thought when ruminating on#oh god. what kinda games he n fark like to play respectively? and said 'if he ever does pick up hardmode or a challenge level#he will only do that to one up himself and himself only.' he only proves stuff to himself. he only cares about himself.#and the things that do the most mental damage to him are all scenarios in which his self is attacked.#in which his agency is taken his independence. losing a job to someone something that copies him and does it better than him#something that even copies a really dear object to him thats been with him throughout the years - his jester hat#an attack on individuality. and then being merged into the sim. idk. the yaoi moments when he does work together w fark become even more#potent. this way? and. it contrasts really well with how selfless (at some point in his life very literally) fark is. and how confident in#his self. he turns out to be in the end. as micah said 'how he moves with so much more fluidity in his organic body#the body he created himself because he's no longer afraid of it being fake'. citing that as the bible but yea kinda.#i think spark grew up quite ostracized maybe even self-ostracized and really needs a distinction between himself and everyone else#to be better than everyone else. there is some personality disorder shit happening under that piss yellow scalp.#and he fucking loses it when the events around him hammer in that the facade he builds for mostly again himself is. yknow. untrue. fake.#idk thoughts. i love exploring the antisocial aspect in fictional personas with how shipshipship focused fandoms and 'analysis'#in them is it's not something i see all that much. seems like only people whove experienced it ever bring up that topic.#is it so uncomfortable for others? who knows. ramble over

꧁ ─── The debut of the group went really well considering how small their company was, gaining the attention of many as they did their promotions, getting shout outs from many.
꧁ ─── The amount of content FEATURES got out of the debut was insane. Many variety shows and sudden appearances from all four members, shocking fans pleasantly.
꧁ ─── With two of the songs focusing on just two of the members, fans were happy with how the group showed their variety with concepts, however, the fans are clamoring for mvs, as both did not receive one.
꧁ ─── MΔSK interacted with everybody during their debut, from Stray Kids to Tomorrow x Together, MΔSK was seen everywhere. Fans have been dying to see collaborations with Hae-won hinting at the possibilities.
꧁ ─── Many have been obsessed with the two mvs that have come out for GUNSHOT and Deja Vu, with many commending the set designers for the aesthetically pleasing videos.
꧁ ─── Myra talking in Latin was not on anyone's 2022 bingo card, but it wasn't unwelcome. On the last day of promotions, Myra let out "Veni, vidi, vici", right before the last chorus, roughly translating to "I came, I saw, I conquered"
