trying to sell the idea of throam to someone is so hard it's like "okay imagine the worst man alive. he's arrogant, egotistical, homophobic, rude, hateful, pretentious, spiteful, self-conscious, has god-complex, selfish, miserable, destructive, revengeful, narcissistic, irredeemable, self-destructive, pathetic, hypocritical and embarrassing. and now imagine reading his thoughts for 500k+ words over the course of three books."

you know i cant help but keep wondering how successful the throam rewrite might have been. considering the way books become popular over on booktok and how every girl with even the smallest interest in reading loves a good gay romance. like, i go out and buy books and beforehand check whats popular atm and most of it is dramatic gay shit, the queer stories are thriving and in an alternative reality i could see throam perfectly sitting on the shelf between the song of achilles, red white and royal blue, heartstopper or literally anything else, you know what i mean. the booktok girlies (including me) wouldve killed for a trilogy like throam. i feel like it has every ingredient it would have needed to become extremely popular these days. i feel robbed

Thinking about the end of volume 2 of throam when Ryan goes on stage “where he is finally loved” because he believes he’s only capable of being loved superficially. Contrasted with how at the end of volume 1 Ryan believed that Brendon loved the real him -“not the artificial one that fans adore-but the real me-and I don’t even know who that is half the time but he sure seemed to.” Compared to how at the end of volume 2 Ryan believes no one is capable of loving the real him.
