it takes a really long time to unlearn but there's no such thing as "cheating" or "half-assing" being a person. if you need to leave the cabinet doors open, leave them open. microwave your tea. sit down in the shower. buy the eggmaker. use your phone to calculate tip.
it's mostly fake posterity rules. who cares if you microwave your dinners. who cares if you use instant coffee. who cares if you stop watching the show that got boring. we all have a different set of skills and a different life and taking care of yourself is fucking hard.
at the end of your life there will be no final scoreboard. nobody is going to judge you because you brushed your teeth in the shower. there will be no final count of the number of times you had the same meal five nights in a row. there will be no fanfare or party because you won at being a person - and no one will be disappointed that you never understood the point of using paper towels to dry your hands off after washing them.
yeah, in this world, people will put up a fuss. i've noticed some of the biggest fusses are over what you'll put in/on your body. the fact that i will regularly eat deli meat straight out of the bag makes a lot of people genuinely concerned for me. but here's the thing: sometimes that's the only way i'm getting any protein. my doctor says i am doing fine. i'm sticking to my weird snacks and calling it deconstructed charcuterie.
they'll say they're horrified because you take a shortcut. that's fine. it's just that it looks like a shortcut to them because they're on a different life path. these kinds of things stand out to them as important. that's fine too. but for you? you've got other things that already make you pretty hard working. and these tiny things - well, they're just clutter on your journey.
what I mean when I say I'm tired of people making found families into nuclear families:
among other things, it's kind of annoying when people act like the romantic couple are automatically the "most obvious" candidates to adopt a kid; or act like a pair of people in a romantic relationship can't happily co-parent a kid with people outside of that romance
what I don't mean when I say I'm tired of people making found families into nuclear families:
people using "siblings" or "parent and child" as a shorthand (or even non-shorthand) for characters' relationships sometimes
FYI if you're watching MasterChef Australia, the Sri Lankan Australian contestant Savi is a friend of mine and kind of a stealth idol because everything I seem to be online (a ball-busting, bombastic, proudly brown, unapologetically fat, sexy decolonizer lady) she actually is irl. It's funny because she was a few grades below me and found me intimidating when we were in school and now I'm the one perpetually in awe of her. Do watch if you can and root for her! She's a delight!
You’ve single-handedly convinced me to watch the HIStory franchise let’s fuckin GO
NOOOOOO!!!!!!
Anon, I constantly tell y'all that my taste is trash because I am trash.
HIStory is not trash, but the reasons I like it are. I do not recommend anything, ever(!) because I know who I am (basura). When I say I like something, I am not recommending it.
Because I promise you, you're going to get to HIStory 4: Close to You after watching the brilliance of HIStory 3: Trapped and the tragedy of the HIStory-that-shall-not-be-named, and think
"What in the hell is wrong with Petty?"
My therapist says I'm a pretty well-adjusted individual considering all of this *vaguely gestures at the world*, so rest assured that nothing diagnosable is wrong with me. I just really like weird shit.
DON'T FOLLOW ME DOWN THIS PATH, ANON! Unless that's your thing too, then join me in the gutter with the rest of the clowns.
Think about if you really want to do this, for yourself, and I'll leave you with my favorite moment from the entire anthology.
"I saw a headcanon about Jiyeon being afraid of fire because of his past traumas and for me this doesn't sound real bc his CG with Heejung and the sticks.
But I like to think this scene means Jiyeon was trying to overcome his trauma of fire and the trauma to trust in someone."
I'm going to preface this story by saying: I don't necessarily believe in karma, but
I may have been walking through today with a vague sense of disbelief tainted with unkind smugness after my tiktok fyp was flooded with poor fans who tried to get presale ticket to one mr n. kahan's new tour only to find that demand was through the roof and GA pit tickets were seriously going for $300, in presale, and even the "worst" tickets in the lawn were going for $70
and while I undoubtedly think it's deeply unethical for both platforms (thanks ticketmaster) and artists to allow such dramatic ticket cost inflation, I also generally don't relate...
I (VERY LUCKILY) gravitate towards smaller acts, and the most I've paid for a ticket all year has been, like... $90 for a ticket to beyonce, which got cancelled and I was refunded lol. if I look back at all my receipts from shows this year, most have been around $50/ticket after fees, and several have been closer to $20. my favorite show I've seen all year was a $15 ticket.
it's mostly luck—I tend to like smaller acts, and I've been seeing mainly rock acts this year, and those tickets simply don't run as high as pop acts. and part of me is honestly very grateful that I haven't been swept into any of the really recent huge acts.
I think of all the people scrabbling for boygenius or taylor swift tickets and how much money they've had to shell out... how a lot of them don't even GET to see the acts they want to see because they've been priced out or tickets sold out. I can't remember the last time a show I wanted to go to sold out lol. maybe bastille in london?
and again, it's just a matter of luck that I'm not really into any of these megastars and therefore don't have to compete in the gladiator arena to try to see shows I want to see, but sometimes luck manifests as a feeling of self-satisfaction, you know? who among us hasn't experienced a little self-superiority from time to time.
look, if YOUR tiktok was flooded with people saying concerts have been awful since 2021 (including rock and metal shows), but every concert YOU'VE been to since 2021 was amazing and the crowds were really good and you always got tickets and it never broke the bank, you'd feel pretty validated in your choice of musicians and the crowds they attract too, alright?? sue me! I felt frugal AND undeservedly clever!
anyways back to karma. guess who got invited and subsequently agreed to shell out $70 to sit in a lawn and listen to mr. n. kahan sing. I'll give you a hint, her tumblr username starts with an r and ends with an s
if I had a nickel every time I watched an anime where a character voiced by Patrick Seitz blows up a character voiced by Griffin Puatu I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice-
the absolute drought of nuance present in comment sections on tiktok will never cease to surprise me. just when I think I've seen the worst of it and blocked enough of the right people, I'll stumble into a post that appears to have summoned an entire army of righteous echo chamber commenters to make me question my sanity. why is critical thinking so hard for people
combining these pepto gummies with melatonin and a big cup of coffee because I have an upset stomach but I also have to revise essays for the next four hours. thoughts and prayers appreciated.
- 2 regular-sized or one big can of diced tomatoes (about 28oz total)
- 1 6oz can of tomato paste
- 2 medium yellow onions, chopped
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- spaghetti noodles of choice
- ~2 cups water, plus more for the pasta
- Worcestershire sauce
- Chicken bullion
- Mixed Italian seasoning
- Olive oil
- Sugar, salt & pepper
---
1. Preheat oven to 450°F
2. Drain tomatoes. Keep the sauce!
3. Toss tomatoes in olive oil and spread them on a baking sheet
4. Roast tomatoes on the top rack of your oven for 20-25 minutes until they start to char.
5. While the tomatoes roast, saute onions on medium-high heat in a good sized pot (a Dutch oven works best for this) until they're translucent.
6. Add garlic and saute for another minute or so, until the garlic chunks are lightly browned.
7. Remove from heat and pour in the tomato sauce, paste, and water. Add the tomatoes when they're done.
8. Use an immersion blender to blend into a sauce (some small chunks are great!)
9. Bring to a low boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cover it while you do, and be careful - this stuff can splatter and burn you!
10. Get your spaghetti noodles going
11. Season with Italian herb mix (a couple teaspoons at first), chicken bullion (a couple cubes), Worcestershire sauce (a tablespoon or two), sugar (two teaspoons) and salt & pepper (eyeball it!).
12. Simmer for a couple minutes, tasting and adding seasonings as desired, and stirring regularly, until the sauce begins to thicken.
13. When it tastes good and seems thick enough, remove from heat and let cool while your pasta finishes.

what's your favorite ship and why? Not limited to any particular fandom
hi! thank you for the ask :)
at any given point in time I usually have a few different favourite ships at once, so I'll give you the most relevant ones from right now:
Beta/Milu: because they're baby and cute and deserve happiness, and Milu seems like the best match for Beta. and I really want Beta to be happy and enjoy life after everything she's been through. plus Beta could definitely help Milu with some science related to helping the Utaru, I'm sure.
Ikrie/Yarra: because I thought about it for two seconds once, and mentioned it to @tjerra14 and was met with nothing but support, so now there's two story ideas floating around.
with this one I'll explain more thoroughly (bc I talked about Beta/Milu a little more recently). thing is.. there's no way in hell Ikrie would have stayed in The Cut considering even Aratak made the journey. so I hc her being at the final battle in HZD and then moving West with Talanah and Milu, and possibly making her way across the mountain bc she's Ikrie and mountains are where she grew up, so the invisible plot barrier would not keep her out of Tenakth territory if she thought Aloy might have come through.
tjerra and I hc her then making her journey towards Scalding Spear and stumbling upon Meat in the clasps of a certain group of Rebel Bandits and saving Meat, but not getting away unscathed, and Yarra then being alerted to her presence. ANYWAY all that to give the setup. (the other story idea involved a lot more birds and puns)
the reason I think they would be well matched is that Yarra is just as dedicated to her people's ways as Mailen was, which is sth Ikrie could certainly understand, but we see later on that she is also willing to change and admit when her ways may cause more harm than good, so: matched in ferocity, bonding over Yarra's pet companion and just overall a fun dynamic imho. I JUST THINK THEY'RE NEAT
Nanno/Yuri: would be my third fave atm, mostly bc the whole enemies to lovers dynamic can be fun, especially where the supernatural is involved. and I love a good you kill me I kill you back dynamic every now and then. so there's that
