You're My Heaven, Angel (Paramedic Steve x Rockstar Eddie) - Part 2
Part 1 // Part 2 // Part 3 (Coming Soon)
AN: I just wanted to say a quick THANK YOU to everyone who has been so kind and so supportive of Part 1! I hear you and I, too, want to create a whole series based around this idea. It's a lot of pressure following-up something that's so beloved, but I'm going to give it my best!
Robin must secretly hate Steve.
She must be the most incredible actress in the entire world. She must be the most prolific conman that’s in the business of conman-ing people or whatever. She must have made a blood oath with an elder god during a full moon that no matter how many days or weeks or months or years it took, she would one day make Steve Harrington’s life absolutely miserable. There’s no other reasonable explanation for why she insists on taking the scenic route to Eddie’s room - a scenic route which adds on two additional minutes of travel time instead of heading straight down the hallway (which maybe adds forty seconds tops).
A route which means Steve has to bear two additional minutes of Eddie loudly introducing him to every single doctor, nurse, patient or family member that they come across on the way to his suite. Never mind that Steve’s worked with most of these doctors and nurses for years now, never mind that he actually goes to Sharla’s poker group when he has Thursdays off with the other fifty-something moms on staff (which Robin never ceases to find absolutely hilarious); no, Eddie is all smiles and arm flourishes, loudly – too loudly – proclaiming that they are now in the presence of his angel, his baby, his angel baby, the love of his life, the apple of his eye, his amor, his partner, his husband –
“Congratulations, Steve! I didn’t know you got married!” Sue laughs as the entire production passes by.
“Yeah, yeah,” Steve rolls his eyes. Eddie blows her a noisy kiss before clearing his throat. He takes a deep breath, and –
“I’M GETTING MARRIED IN THE MORNING - ”
“Robin, he’s singing again!”
“I know, dingus, I can hear him.”
“DING DONG, THE BELLS ARE GONNA CHIIIIIMMMEEEEEEEE - ”
Steve turns back, risking a glare at Robin mid-step. “Remind me why we’re going the long way around?”
Robin snorts out a laugh, shit-eating grin firmly in place. “Come on, Stevie, we all need the exercise.”
“ – GET ME TO THE CHURCH ON TIMMMMMEEEE – Stevie? Stevie,” Eddie turns and sighs at Steve and okay, Steve can’t tell if Eddie’s eyes are super dilated because of the probable head trauma or if there’s a weird reflection from the fluorescents, but his eyes are, like, legit sparkling up at him. “Steeeeeevieeeee - ”
“Yep, I’m still here.” Eddie grins, flopping to the side so that their joined hands are resting up against his head. He sighs happily, his feet wiggling under the shock blanket, and it’s not cute Steve stop thinking it’s cute –
“Steve!” He pulls his eyes away just as the gurney comes to a stop in front of Brenda, one of the intake nurses currently on shift. Brenda’s blonde and cute and ethically non-monogamous, but Steve is more of a one and done sort of guy. That doesn’t mean they don’t flirt like crazy anytime they bump into each other, though. (Hey, he’s gotta stay in shape somehow.)
“Looking good today. Is that a new shirt?” She asks with a smirk, her eyes running over his biceps. (It’s not a new shirt, Robin just ran it through the dryer, so it shrunk. Really, he should have gotten rid of it, but it makes his biceps look amazing.)
“Nah, it’s - ”
He has a line. He has a great line. But as soon as he opens his mouth to speak it, he’s cut off by a very loud hissing sound coming from his left and –
Yep, it’s Eddie. Eddie, who’s glaring at Brenda like they’re mortal enemies. Seriously, it’s a good thing he doesn’t have laser eyes like that one superhero guy because if he did, Brenda would be at risk of getting too tan.
“MINE!” Eddie snaps at the end of his hiss and then, all while still maintaining eye contact with Brenda, he yanks Steve’s hand to his mouth and licks it. And not, like, a gentle lick that you’d get from a puppy. No, Eddie licks his hand like he’s trying to give Steve a tongue bath.
(His first instinct should be to pull away, but instead all Steve can think about it Eddie giving him an actual full body tongue bath - )
“Dude!” Steve exclaims when he does finally pull his hand away. (He hears Robin snort under her breath, clearly having caught onto the fact that his brain broke at the whole licking thing and shit, now he’s thinking about it again - )
“No, MINE!” Eddie growls, and Steve barely has a chance to wipe his hand on his pants before Eddie is grabbing it back, clutching it between both of his hands like it’s his special or something. (Special, was that the word that the guy used? The little creepy guy in that one movie? He needs to text Dustin and ask.)
“Aww, I’m glad to see you’ve finally met someone!” Brenda teases.
“Uh, yeah,” Steve replies distractedly, trying (and failing) to shake one of Eddie’s hands off of his hand because now that they’re actually at his suite, he’s going to need them. “Brenda, this is - ”
“The concussion patient from Lollapalooza, Sarah clued me in,” Brenda says, snapping her gum. “Eddie, right?”
Eddie pauses from wrestling with Steve to sniff at Brenda and honestly, as someone who spent way too much time at country clubs as a child because of his parents, Eddie has the whole I’m-better-than-you-you-poor-person-wearing-Adidas expression locked down. “That’s Mister Eddie to you, Briony.”
Briony? “Who’s Briony?”
Robin kicks the gurney forward with an eye roll and suddenly they’re moving into the suite. “Don’t worry your pretty little head about it, dingus.”
Eddie finally manages to tear his eyes away from Brenda. He perks his head up at Steve and once Steve’s face is in his line of sight his expression softens, the sparkles coming back in full force. “And it’s such a pretty head, baby.”
Such a pretty head SUCH A PRETTY HEAD –
“I’ll show you – ow, Robin, seriously?” Steve yelps at Robin’s pinch.
“Stop being horny and help me get him on the bed.”
“I’m - ”
“Don’t listen to her baby, please, please stay horny, and lose the shirt while you’re at it!” Eddie sits up and starts frantically grasping at Steve’s sleeves. “Christ almighty, these arms, arms of heaven, arms of an angel - ”
“Steve!” Robin barks and shit, he needs to focus. He takes advantage of the fact that Eddie let go of his hand to grab at his shirt and darts down to the other end of the gurney. They lift on a count of three, placing Eddie onto the bed and kicking the wheeled cart out of the way. (Eddie makes a loud WHEEEEEEEEE sound and then immediately goes back to demanding that Steve get naked.) Sarah, who’s followed the procession the entire time, grabs the empty cart and wheels it out of the room just as Brenda steps in.
“Well then, Eddie, let’s get started on intake,” Brenda nods, bringing out her iPad. “Are you ready to answer a few questions?”
“No.”
Robin groans and steps to the side, energetically fluffing and reorganizing Eddie’s pillows so he’s seated up. Somehow Eddie is able to lean around Robin’s wide-armed movements and fix Brenda with yet another piercing glare.
Brenda shoots Steve a look before nodding her head at Eddie.
Right.
“Hey, uh, Eddie, we really need to ask you a few questions - ”
“Hand!” Eddie snaps to look at Steve and sticks his hand towards him. He wiggles his fingers a few times before making a grabby motion. “Hand!”
It’s not cute. It’s totally not cute.
Steve sighs but walks back around from the foot of the bed and places his hand gently in Eddie’s. Eddie links their fingers and squeezes tightly. “Uh, how about now, is now okay to ask a few questions?”
Huffing, Eddie looks at their fingers for a few moments before looking upwards at Steve. Their eyes meet and he grins. “Hi angel,” he lets out a pleased sigh. “I missed you.”
Don’t say it don’t say it DON’T SAY IT -
“I missed you too, Eds.”
FUCK.
“Awwwww, my little schmoopers are being all schmoopy-moopy!” Robin sings in her best baby voice. (That’s it, he’s eating the rest of the Chunky Monkey.)
“I’m eating the rest of the Chunky Monkey.”
“Uh, like fuck you are.”
“I'd rather have you eat me,” he hears Eddie whisper and yeah, okay, that’s one he’s just going to choose to ignore for the sake of what little sanity he has left.
“Right, okay,” he hears Brenda try to get things back on track. “About those intake questions - ”
“Oh, don’t worry Nurse Brenda,” the lilting voice of Dr. Suzie Henderson floats into the room. “I can take it from here.”
Steve turns just in time to see Suzie strut into the emergency suite. She shoots Brenda a grateful nod and Brenda, with one last wink to Steve, hands her iPad off to Suzie and heads out of the room.
“Bye Steve!”
“Bye Brenda.”
“Yeah, bye Brittany!”
Suzie has the best laugh in the world, and she lets it fly on her walk over. “Hey Steve,” Suzie grins at him as she makes her way towards the foot of Eddie’s bed. “How are things going today?”
“Oh, good,” Steve replies quickly before turning to look at Eddie. “Eddie, this is Doctor Suzie Henderson, she’s my sister-in-law.”
Eddie slowly scooches his butt backwards so he’s sitting up more. “No, she’s our sister-in-law,” he huffs before turning and smiling at Suzie. “Hey sis!”
“And you must be Eddie! I heard you were thinking about marrying into the family.” She lets out a quick giggle at those words but then clears her throat and throws her shoulders back. “Well, if you are serious about joining our Steve in holy – or unholy – matrimony - ”
“Fuck yeah,” he hears Eddie whisper.
“ – then I’m going to need you to answer a few questions.”
“Proceed, milady.” Eddie starts gently caressing Steve’s hand with his fingers. Steve shoots a look at Robin, who makes exaggeratedly sappy faces while glancing between Steve and their intertwined fingers.
(Forget the Chunky Monkey, he’s eating all of the ice cream they have left tonight.)
“Full name?”
“Edward Anthony Munson.”
“Age?”
“Thirty-one.”
“Name of your emergency contact?”
“Oh, that would be Uncle Wayne and Chrissy! Baby, you’re going to love Wayne,” Eddie says, turning to gaze lovingly up at Steve. “And he’s going to love you! Not as much as I love you though, that’s impossible.”
(Steve’s pretty sure that Bambi eyes here is the impossible one.)
“Great, is Wayne and Chrissy’s contact information in your medical file?”
“Uh huh,” Eddie replies dreamily, still gazing at Steve.
“Okay, speaking of your file,” Suzie taps at her iPad, “any major events in your medical history that we should know about?”
“Hmmm?”
He can feel it on his face, he can feel his stupid grin on his stupid face, but he chooses to instead focus on helping Eddie pay attention. “She wants to know if there’s major health events in your past that we need to know about, Bambi.”
“Bambi?”
“BAMBI?!” Robin squeaks after Eddie.
Shit shit SHIT -
“I mean - ”
“Bambi,” Eddie hums, blinking rapidly as he slumps back against his pillows. Once he's settled, he tosses his free hand across his forehead and moans happily. “He loves me. He loves me, he loves me, HE LOVES MEEEEEE - ”
Don’t blush DO NOT BLUSH BODY STOP BLUSHING
“Oh my god that was amazing, I have literally never seen you this red, you look like an actual tomato. Oh my god, I have to tell Nance, like, now.”
“Right, yes, okay Bambi,” Suzie interrupts with a snicker, “like Steve said, is there anything we need to know?”
“Well, we’re in love,” Eddie sighs, pressing a quick kiss to the top of Stevie’s hand. “I think I’m still a little high but it’s only weed, I’ve definitely stopped doing cocaine since, like, five months ago. No need to worry about that, angel,” Eddie pats the top of Steve’s hand.
“Yeah, no, I definitely won’t worry about that.” (He’s definitely going to worry about that.)
“Well, thank you for your honesty, Eddie. I’m going to take a closer look at your files once we get them just to get a better picture of your overall health before we run our tests. Now, second set of questions,” Suzie loudly taps and drags a new window on her tablet open. “What is your annual income?”
(Huh. That’s weird. Steve’s doesn't think he's ever heard any of the nurses ask that question before.)
Eddie snorts out a laugh. “God, I make so much money. A fucking stupid amount of money.”
“You have something in way of a retirement plan then?”
“Doc, I could retire for, like, the next five hundred million years.”
Susie hums as she makes a note. “Do you have anything against sharing resources with your romantic partner?”
(Okay, Steve definitely hasn't heard anyone else ask these questions before.)
“Nah!” Eddie scoffs before gently tugging on Steve’s hand to get his attention. “You’ll be the hottest trophy wife, babe. Do you have an apron? I’m going to buy you an apron.”
“And what are your feelings on children?”
“Kids? I love kids. Is he good with kids? I bet he’s good with kids,” Eddie rushes out. “Fuck, you’re going to look so hot pregnant, baby.”
Robin makes a loud barfing noise which Suzie naturally ignores. “What exactly are you looking for in a relationship?”
“Suzie - ”
“Him! My angel,” Eddie slumps to the side so he’s leaning up against Steve’s hip. “I want to wrap him up in a warm towel and keep him forever and make sweet, sweet love to him under the - ”
“OKAY, next question please,” Robin loudly cuts him off.
“So what you’re saying is you’re looking for a committed relationship with Steve,” Suzie ignores Robin's dramatics. “Are you prepared for lifelong monogamy?”
“Absolutely.”
“Suz - ”
“And you’ll work every day to be deserving of Steve?”
“For the rest of my life,” Eddie proclaims and fuck, he actually sounds serious. He actually looks serious too.
Huh.
Suzie quietly observes him for a moment before her face relaxes into a warm smile. “I believe you. Now, dealbreakers. What are your opinions on outdoor weddings? Steve gets scared in churches.”
“What?!” Eddie gasps, snapping back to Steve.
“SUZ – what, no, I’m not afraid of churches - ”
“Uh yeah you are, you said that every time you visit one you get nightmares about being sacrificed on an altar,” Robin chimes in.
“Gee, thanks, Robin.”
“Baby, baby, don’t worry, I’d never let them sacrifice you,” Eddie tries to comfort Steve, but everything that’s happened in the last thirty seconds – hell, the last thirty minutes – is starting to finally sink in and yeah, okay, there’s an obscenely hot and rich and famous rockstar telling Steve that he loves him and sure, he’s partially concussed but the joke isn’t ending, he’s acting like he’s serious and they’ve only exchanged like maybe twenty words total but he’s acting like this is actually happening and what if it actually could –
“Shoot, we’re going to have to wrap it up here, loverboy,” Robin waylays his runaway thoughts as her beeper goes off. “We’ve got a fainter with a broken nose."
“Okay, okay.” Steve shakes his head and tries to gently extract his hand from Eddie’s grasp but Eddie lurches at the feeling of Steve moving his hands and whines, digging his finger into Steve’s hand.
“Eddie, I’m sorry, but I’ve got to get back to work.”
“But – no, angel, please,” he blubbers before turning his eyes on Steve and –
Oh.
Oh no.
They’re even bigger and shinier when he’s crying.
“I’m sorry, Bambi,” he replies totally deliberately, “but I’ve got to go finish my shift. I’ll come back when I’m done, okay?”
Eddie sniffles, rubbing his eyes with his free hand. “Promise?”
“Promise.”
“Okay,” he whimpers sadly, and – look, this joke isn't really joking anymore so if Eddie's gonna go all the way, he might as well go all the way too.
He leans forward and presses a quick kiss to the top of Eddie’s head. “Be good for Suzie, okay?” As he draws back, he glances back down at Eddie. Eddie is blinking dazedly at Steve, all glassy-eyed and rosy.
“Wow,” Eddie whispers, and while the smile that appears on his face is small, it’s the warmest one Steve has seen yet. “Whatever you say, baby.”
“Right, right.” Steve nods and then pivots, making a hasty retreat out of the room.
“Later, Bambi,” Robin sings behind him, and then she’s quick on Steve’s heels. The hall’s crowded, though, so they aren’t fast enough to escape the start of Suzie and Eddie’s conversation.
(“So, outdoor wedding? Maybe in spring?”
“Can it be in Hobbiton?”
“Uh, it better be in Hobbiton!”)
“I’m kinda surprised to see you staking your claim already, dingus,” Robin says, thrusting the portable gurney mat into Steve’s arms as they walk. “I was worried I’d have to make you.”
“I shouldn't have done that. I mean, he’s a patient, Robin!”
“Not anymore, he’s not!” Robin gently bumps his hip. “He's not your patient anymore so now we need to start planning your next move. I mean, he’s obviously going to say yes when you ask him out, but it still needs to be smooth.”
“What – I’m Steve Harrington, I’m always smooth.”
Robin is purposely silent.
“Okay, first of all, rude,” he says after giving her plenty of time to politely agree. “Second of all, even if I did decide to make a move, there actually isn’t a guarantee he’d say yes. Even if he wasn't just doing this because he's heavily concussed, I’ve hardly talked to the guy!”
“I know, he has no idea how much of a dork you are, it’s great.”
Steve offers Robin a hand as he climbs into the ambulance. (Not without shooting her a look once they're both seated, of course because again, rude.)
Robin shrugs Steve's frown off. “Look, dingus, I know you think that you have all these great lines or whatever - ”
“Uh, I don’t think, I do have them - ”
“ – but they’re, like, obviously lines. Whatever you say to him has to be more real. He needs to know that if he says yes, he’s going to be going on a date with a guy that has the ooiest, gooiest, squishiest little itty bitty heart!” She squeezes her hands together like she’s holding Steve’s heart in her hands (which definitely isn’t concerning given the fact that she’s technically a medical professional who knows just how vulnerable that particular organ is.)
“Robs - ”
“ITTY BITTY!” She kisses the tips of her fingers. “And that’s why we gotta plan, doinkus. Edward Anthony Munson needs to be constantly conscious of the fact that he’s dating the best guy on the entire planet because you are, Steve, you are the best guy on Earth and you deserve a Prince Charming even though the Prince Charming archetype is totally outdated and part of a patriarchal initiative to establish systematic gender dynamics - ”
Well, shucks. Maybe Robin doesn’t hate him after all.
“ - doesn't exist, its still what you deserve. But more importantly than that, if Eddie does start dating you, then I have a better shot of getting him to introduce me to Chris Hemsworth.”
“Chris Hemsworth?"
“Uh, yeah.”
"Chris Hemsworth - Chris Hemsworth? Out of every famous person Eddie could hypothetically introduce you to, you'd want to meet Chris Hemsworth?"
"Well, yeah," Robin takes a brief sip of her water before shooting Steve a playful smirk. “I mean, as great as you are, I wouldn't be opposed to upgrading my emotional support himbo.”
Never mind, she’s evil incarnate.
(And she’s going to be out of Chunky Monkey in about five hours.)

Found Heaven opinion? (you guys asked)
I absolutely love how much Conan like...experimented during this album. It's clear he's having fun and like, stretching his wings and I'm so here for it. He's got AMAZING range and some really gutwrenching lyrics, and his sound is so fun and different. I liked how he played with sampling a bunch of 80's songs in the tracks as well, the theme was so fun.
As a personal thing, I think I missed the more obviously melancholy tone from Superache? which I mean...they're two different albums, so it's natural to have a different tone. I'm not mad about it- he has a right to change it up! Also something that has nothing to do with conan, I wasn't a huge fan of the production of one or two of the songs. Superache had a lot of cool things in production, and Conan is so fun and unique, and sometimes it felt like someone just overlooked production a bit (Specifically in The Final Fight...like it's such a powerful song, and I needed the chorus to pack more of a punch). But that was more personal preference.
However, overall, I think he totally killed it with this album. Like...artist-wise, I think it shows his growth and talent so much. It's so much fun but like....secretly sad? And I like that a lot. He's super talented and I can't wait to see him in concert!
Current order of songs (which will change by tomorrow):
Alley Rose
Fainted Love
Eye of the Night
Winner
Killing Me
Bourgeoisieses
The Final Fight
Never Ending Song
Miss You
Forever With Me
Found Heaven
Lonely Dancers
Boys & Girls

Chapter 6 Sneak Peek WIP
Tumblr media
Tags: Alastor x Reader, Alcohol, fluff, soft Alastor, Slow Burn, Tension, not proofread, WIP
A/n: This one is taking a bit longer cause it's longer than the other chapters but I PROMISE the wait will be worth it. Here's a taste 👀
I WOULD LOVE FEEDBACK ON THE TENSE..NESS? I'm getting in my head about characterization 😅
18+ - Minors DO NOT INTERACT with me or my content
Tumblr media
“Care to have a drink with me?” the demon inquires, materializing a bottle of Rye in one hand. The sound of his claws clink against the glass, creating a delicate but unsettling rhythm.
His eyes fix you with a beguile stare. You've witnessed him point this look toward others -- many back down at the sight of it, terrified to provoke the demon.
It only entices you to push harder.
“Depends, have you poisoned it?” You quip, the corner of your mouth turning up.
Alastor’s eyes narrow into slits, his smile growing wider, “Heavens, no,” he chuckles, materializing two crystal tumblers in his other hand, “Not this time, anyway.”
He pours a couple fingers and extends the drink to you. One of his eyebrows cocks as you dramatically observe every angle of the glass. You bring the tumbler close to your face, feigning reluctance, but your mouth falls open when the crisp smell of oak and vanilla coat the inside of your nose.
“Holy shit, this actually smells amazing,” you gasp delightfully.
“I have to agree with you there. This was my drink of choice when I was alive,” he pauses, looking introspectively before continuing, “It was my mother’s favourite too.”
This was the first you’ve heard of his life before hell and your head tilts at the disclosure.
“Were you close with your mom?” you ask with your lips against the glass, taking in the aroma.
“Incredibly.” the demon nods, a hint of pain in his voice.
You stare out over the horizon, hesitant to pry further -- family is a touchy subject and you know that first hand. The first sip washes the taste of cherry over your tongue and moan breaks free from your throat.
“Wow,” you gush, holding up the glass to observe the amber liquid as you swash it around the tumbler, “If this is poisoned, at least I'll die happy.”
“The night is still young, darling,” Alastor purrs, glancing down at his middle and index claws as he taps them together, “you know, if you have a death wish," his eyes dart towards you, "I can think of far more productive use F̶͎͓̔̌̕o̴̭̓̇̂ȑ̷͈͂ ̸̩̤̯̋̕ỳ̶̙̓o̶̹͎͓͑̎̏u̴̢̇̆͒r̴̦̥͛̄ ̶̡͙̺̀̂ś̴͇̞͆ö̷̬̩́̔͠u̵̲̅ͅl̷͚͑̀."
“Still on that, eh?" The increased static in his voice doesn't phase you, "You really think you could handle me being around you 24/7?”
“Hm, I'd tolerate it.” his eyes slide back toward his hand as he straightens out his arm.
“You know I'd make it your personal hell, right? Like, to a point where you'd regret the moment you wrap your big, scary hand around mine."
Alastor answers by taking a sip from his glass, giving you that famous coaxing look of his over the rim.
“I hope you don't mind me blaring heavy EDM from my phone everyday.”
“Sounds like you haven't a penchent for pain,” his smile widens, “I can work with that.”
“Good, I'm a bit of a masochist.” you blurt out.
Heat soaks through your features as the last word leaves your mouth and you break eye contact to look down at the glass in your hand. You didn't even realize it was empty, and with all the excitement today, you completely forgot to eat.
"Interesting," he teases, picking up the scent of your embarrassment like a bloodhound. The bottle clinks against your glass as he pours you another round, "I can work with that too."

Asumi Rio Rose of Versailles 50th Anniversary Interview
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Berubara heaven-sent child, Asumi Rio speaks
(translation on 11/07/22) From 25ans October 2022 interview below the cut
Asumi appeared inside the studio with an otherworldly, pure beauty, as if an angel had descended onto this world. However, as soon as she changed into an all-white Etro look, there was a sudden transformation into a dignified appearance much like that of Oscar-sama, then in a blink of an eye, another switch occurred, and all the staff with no words prostrated themselves before her.
Asumi, was your first Berubara the manga? Or was it the Takarazuka staging?
“For some reason, the manga was in my elementary school’s library. When I read it, my impression was first and foremost, Ikeda Riyoko’s amazing art; full of dresses, roses, and military uniforms, it's packed with every girl’s dream. I thought it was so amazing.”
So it was a fateful meeting in elementary school! Berubara has many charming characters that appear inside of it, but who are you most attracted to?
“I like Andre. Isn’t he the best? Always full of love quietly watching over this singular girl, it’s so lovely. In the end, despite losing one of his eyes, he still charges into war with Oscar, it was just... (Overcome with emotion). As for another role I have played, Oscar and I have quite different personalities, she’s thinking of her city and France, always questioning if her actions are right or wrong. She lives at a fast pace. She’s compassionate, devoted to her sense of righteousness, and more gallant than any man. Furthermore, she has both that of a maiden’s mind and a masculine firmness to her, playing her requires a lot of energy. In the passionate love story that is Fersen and Marie Antoinette, I played Fersen whose feelings towards the Queen lay right at the center. During these events, Marie knew of Louis the 16th’s love, as well as nurturing a love for her children, on one hand, she had grown as a queen throughout this, but even when she resolved to enter the guillotine, Fersen had come and said to her, “I have come to pick up your Majesty,” this showed how he fundamentally had not changed. An unrelenting perfectionist, archetypal lover boy who's filled with an unchanging passion, he was a role that had a high hurdle to jump over to play him stylishly. Another role, Bernard, after having played both Oscar and Andre, this allowed me to play with a deepened understanding of the city and the guard, so it was really fun.”
Tumblr media
What was the most impactful moment?
“In The Rose of Versailles, the lighting, the sound effects, the gazes, the script, all the cogs work together perfectly, it's like it's all a single work of art. That’s why picking just one is hard, but if I have to choose, the Bastille. But it's hard to just ignore that scene with Marie and Fersen in the prison. In the Bastille, when Oscar charged into war after Andre died, that intense choreography with the subtle nuances and emotions that the choreographer taught us, really was created with everyone in mind. Oscar was struck! ‘Are you no longer here?!’ ‘Are you surrendering?!’ (Asumi doing a reenactment alone...) Oh gosh, I'm going to cry. There's no room for error in the production, all the drama of characters appearing concentrated in that scene, it still gives me goosebumps. As for songs, I like Andre’s “Shirobara no Hito”! Asakaze ni♪ (Asumi who starts singing). For finale numbers, I like the rockette. (While singing the French national anthem) Tatata tan tan tan taan! And then instantly the lights flash on and everything lights up all glamorously. As for something I appeared in, the bolero duet, simply because it’s simple is what made it difficult, so I remember it vividly.”
Tumblr media
Remaining immortal from now and forever on, the fruit of love from the creator and performers.
Actually standing on that stage, did you end up experiencing any hardships?
“Maybe the ‘Kata* (forms)’? When I starred in the Rose of Versailles, I was incredibly lucky to have Haruna Yuri come and provide some acting guidance. She taught us every single move. At the start, precisely because we had always done more natural acting, jumping into ‘kata’ was extremely difficult, but that said form worked with the time period’s landscape and music, the set, and the scale of it all matched the scale of emotions. When this all came together, it became something I would really look forward to seeing. My mood would really improve, naturally being able to move into that ‘kata.’ Natural acting wasn’t enough for this. Not until overcoming this did I understand adding this little extra flair to the aura of the role I’m embodying on the stage. In the “Koyoi Ichiya” part’s (the famous love scene between Oscar and Andre the night before they go to war) posing as well, Haruna said that the beautiful point of this pose’s posture was the sheer pain of it, but it was all in the angles of the posing that made it all beautiful. That’s why the poster photoshoot for “Koyoi Ichiya” ended up completely different than the actual stage version of “Koyoi Ichiya,” since the countless experiences built up changed it completely.
(*According to Nipponia, kata is the stylized movements seen in Kabuki theater, passed down through generations, usually things such as poses and gestures)
Tumblr media
So, the tradition of ‘Kata’ that the late Kabuki actor and even movie star Hasegawa Kazuo provided guidance on for Haruna, the first actress to play Oscar, passed through generations and was inherited by Asumi. Asumi, if you were to star in Berubara now, what role would you want to play?
“I just want to try the scene where Oscar appears in front of Fersen in a dress. It’s tough because Oscar is a tomboy and in other scenes, she’s always fighting (laughs). Prior, I saw in the news that the dress from this scene in the manga was produced, it was so beautiful... That singular dress that she wore, it’s amazing. In Takarazuka, because Oscar tends to be drawn-up maidenesque, the costumes including the mantle are girls’, so they are light and silky, which is a minor point of interest of mine I get really excited about (laughs). I loved the costume with the mantle and light blue military uniform with the pink sash.”
Oscar’s dress will be up for display at the 50th-anniversary exhibition, so it’s a must-see.
Tumblr media
“Oscar really has a uniquely special existence, doesn’t she? There’s a line Oscar says, ‘Ahh, God, why did you take this life away to such a far-away, foreign country, after having such a knot tied of us 3 up here on this French soil...!’, but under the French Revolution, really everyone is living such tumultuous lives, and all of it gets tangled together. Events that romantic wouldn’t happen in my own life. But just as much as the characters of this story, I learned about cherishing what binds us together as people, as well as having to keep things such as love and trust with you throughout your life. Ikeda-Sensei drawing this at such an age without even going to France, I find myself asking what the heck was going on inside her head (while looking at the manga). The coloring is amazing! I can’t stop looking anymore (laughs).”
Berubara draws a picture of the 18th-century French royal court’s exceedingly lavish dress and lifestyle, do you dream or yearn for such a culture yourself? “To an extent I do, because I’m a girl (laughs), after all, I like that dressed-up style with incredible corsetry, I want to imitate it.”
To finish off, with the Rose of Versailles in its 50th year, what do you think the reason is that people continue to love it so much? “I think the number one reason is the art of the manga’s eternal beauty and the unique drama and story of it all. Then as for the Takarazuka version, wouldn’t it be those feelings and fruits of love of the creators and performers throughout history all becoming one piece of history? I also want to go and reread the manga once more, I’m sure the points you can empathize with and your favorite character change depending on your age and what you’ve experienced. I think The Rose of Versailles will forever be immortal, so I want to enjoy it with everyone going forward as well.”

a few weeks ago i was briefly possessed by the spirit of writing and spat out a mishmash of concept and ficlet at @renlyslittlerose, who took it all in stride and even encouraged me to post it!
i wanted to wait until i had the bandwidth to polish it, but with my limited time and energy these days, who knows when that will be.
instead, below the cut, i’ve copied the exact original messages i sent with absolutely zero editing. i hope you enjoy my candor and typos.
here’s the obikin bath & body works au ✨🫧🧴🧼
i feel like i’ve talked my way around a bath & body works-adjacent AU without ever actually talking about it but you know what?? today is the day
anakin is a retail associate at a soaps+lotions store and obi-wan comes in looking so handsome and frazzled and confused and anakin is like. oh boy one of these. ok sir who are you buying a gift for 🙄
except he can’t get all the words about because once he’s close enough to greet the man with his normal spiel. he realizes. this is the most amazing smelling man he’s every encountered in his LIFE
so he fumbles through helping obi-wan pick out a gift basket’s worth of assorted but complementary lotions and body scrubs in a daze. hoping and praying to the powers that be that he did not just help this man build the perfect gift basket for his girlfriend or, heaven forbid, his wife. and as anakin walks him all the way to the checkout counter (usually he just points customers in that direction but anakin is LATCHED onto this man), obi-wan turns to him and squints at his name tag and says “you’ve done a lovely job, anakin. i think with your help i’ll be spared my sister’s disappointment.” and anakin’s heart SOARS while his dick threatens to publicly embarrass him because he has never heard his own name sound like THAT coming out of anyone’s mouth ever
he’s almost forward enough to ask the man’s name or even give his phone number, but balks and ends up giving him a discount card for buy one get one half off any purchase of 2 or more body care products. except the expiration date is scratched out and scribbled over hastily in anakin’s handwriting, written to now expire instead at the end of the week
obi-wan blinks but pockets it with a charming smile and thanks anakin AGAIN and anakin thinks he might just pass out at this point
the rest of the shift passes in a haze, anakin makes it home and kicks himself the entire night, barely able to sleep. he barely pays any attention in his classes the next morning, worried that even if obi-wan does return, he has no idea when anakin works and they could very possibly miss each other entirely. that is, if obi-wan even comes back
his coworkers ask him what’s wrong when he clocks in the next day, and anakin grumbles and does his best to put on something akin to a serviceably customer-friendly mask. he drags like a zombie as he resets the seasonal display in the center of the store, snapping into lucidity every time the door chimes and a customer walks in, none of them his warm and spicy, flustered and handsome nameless crush
defeated and debating whether or not to feign illness so he can just go home and languish in bed, anakin hangs up his apron and goes to clock out for his break when he hears another customer enter. he doesn’t turn around, unable to stand any further self induced disappointment. one of his coworkers covering for him on his break greets them. and anakin’s stomach drops
“i made a purchase yesterday actually and was hoping to speak to the associate who assisted me. does… is anakin working today, by chance?”
“oh… i’m so sorry, he’s on break right now, but i’d be more than happy to—“
anakin doesn’t care that he must have bruised his hip on the checkout counter with how quickly he throws his apron back on and whips around to barrel through the store at lightning speed. he can’t even be bothered to bite back the stupid smile on his face.
with all the grace and propriety of any man on a mission of true love, anakin slips in beside his coworker and pipes up over her, locking gazes with the man and relishing the way his eyes widen, then soften and crinkle with warm recognition.
“i’ve got it from here, it’s really not a problem.”
anakin doesn’t even turn to see which of his coworkers he’s just so rudely dismissed. they must leave without fuss though, because then it’s just the two of them, staring at each other over a carefully stacked pyramid of passion fruit and peony hand lotion.
“short break, then? i’d hate to be the reason you forgo your lunch.”
“i’m alright. i’m, uh. i’m not hungry.”
the man smiles knowingly and cocks his head to the side, a lock of hair falling in his face as his eyes crinkle once again, just the faintest hint of age.
anakin thinks he might die. he smells even better than he remembers. it’s like nothing he’s ever smelled before. certainly nothing they sell here, at least. it can’t be cologne, right? jeez. maybe this is how all those ridiculous hallmark movie leads feel when they lock eyes with their favorite generic brown-haired man of the hour. anakin wants to fall into this man’s thick, sweater-clad arms. he wants to wedge his face in the crook of his neck and nuzzle his beard that looks oh-so-soft and inhale him. he wants to get down on one knee and ask if he—
“… can get your help with something?”
oh. right. anakin desperately hopes the flush he can feel crawling hot up his neck isn’t as visible as it feels.
“y-yeah, of course. sorry. what can i do for you?”
tl;dr because i promised myself i’d start my day at 9:50 and it’s now 9:56 BUT
obi-wan coyly asks anakin to help him find products for *himself* and anakin is like. um no offense but are you insane. you smell amazing already. and obi-wan is like 👀 and anakin is like NOT that i was smelling you because i WASNT hahahh that would be SO weird i just. there was a strong breeze. and. man that cologne you’re wearing sure is strong. plus i have a sensitive nose yknow. for example, i can smell that uhhh…… and obi-wan is like. i’m… not wearing any cologne. and anakin is like 😵‍💫
anakin helps him make his purchase just as dazed as he was yesterday. rings him up himself to make sure he gets his special anakin only discount. and then he finally gets obi-wan’s name.
obi-wan asks if he’s free after work. anakin says yes and also he’s free every afternoon for the rest of his life. in case something comes up and obi-wan needs a rain check. or something. obi-wan laughs and says today is just fine.
obi-wan picks him up and they go home and put obi-wan’s brand new body oil to excellent use 😌 the end

I am currently listening to "ELVIS: THE HOME RECORDINGS" (a collection of Elvis Presley's home recordings from the 1950s and 1960s) and I find incredible hearing him singing songs in that unprompted way, just having fun with friends and family, and then listen to the professional version he recorded years later.
Those are some of Elvis' personal favorites songs, folks. 🩷🥹 Here's some of them:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"HANDS OFF" (or "KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF OF IT") Home recording: Fall 1960, at Monovale Drive, Hollywood (one of Elvis' homes). Studio recording: Elvis recorded this song again during a jam session at Nashville RCA's studio B in June 5th, 1970. The song was recorded in a version in conjunction with "Got My Mojo Working". The track was first release on the LP "Love Letters From Elvis" (1971).

2. "INDESCRIBABLY BLUE" Home recording: February 1966 at Rocca Place, Hollywood (another of Elvis' homes). Studio recording: Elvis recorded this song professionally, not long after, in June 10, 1966. It was first released by RCA Records as a single on January 10, 1967, backed with "Fools Fall in Love". It was releases in a LP as part of the "Elvis' Gold Records Volume 4" (January, 1968).

3. "AFTER LOVING YOU" Home recording: Recorded around 1966. Can you listen to Elvis' voice here being pretty much the same in the 1969 version? His voice by 1966 was already so improved. It's weird how they kept Elvis from singing what he really wanted to sing in order to keep the soundtrack albums going on. I'm not complaining, per say, because I don't actually hate the soundtrack songs of his movies, but we know Elvis himself was pretty beaten having to record what he called "silly songs" over the ones he truly loved, like this one (as we can see by the way he sings the song wholeheartedly).
Studio recording: During the American Sound Studio's legendary recording session under Chips Moman production, Elvis recorded this song professionally in 18th Feb, 1969, in Memphis, Tennessee.
My personal favorite. ♥ My absolute favorite Elvis album is "From Elvis In Memphis", no doubt. Hearing the home recording version of "After Loving You" is just priceless to me.

4. "WHAT NOW MY LOVE"
Home recording: Recorded sometime around 1966 too. Again, Elvis literally was kept from singing many great songs for a long time because of his Hollywood movie contracts, not to speak about the RCA deals causing the songwriters disputes over rights and proper payment. Long story short, the songwriters did not want to give up 25% of the rights to the compositions to Hill and Range Publishings and the other Presley publishing companies that published his recording materials. So Elvis ended up with some (crappy) less powerful songs to record for many, many years. Some of the songs he truly wanted to record thanks Heaven were brought to day light. Elvis had a great taste in music. (I just wonder how many more amazing songs recorded by his powerful voice we would have today if it wasn't for the tricky record deals he was under.)
Live version:  On January 14, 1973, Elvis Presley performed the song before a live audience of 1 billion people, as part of his satellite show, "Aloha from Hawaii", which was beamed to 43 countries via INTELSAT. Elvis' live rendition of the song is just breathtaking. You listen and see him performing it live and you just stop breathing. The song was first released on the live album "Aloha from Hawaii via Satellite" (February, 1973).

IN CONVERSATION WITH: HOOKAGE
Tumblr media
In the first edition of our interview series, we have hookage, a music producer/beatmaker born and raised in Francistown and Gaborone. He produces a wide variety of genres. The producer says his exposure to different genres( hip-hop, rap, neo-soul, rnb, deep house, etc.) and cultures nurtured his ability to produce different genres.
He has produced for a variety of artists and musicians locally and internationally, but notably, he’s produced for Kaysotheenigma's “Cherry Bomb,” which won 'Best Female Single' at the YAMAs, as well as three songs off her debut album “Fifth Heaven."
How did you come up with the name Hookage?
So i got the name from the anime series, Naruto but i added a twist to it. In the series, the original word is “hokage” and this is the title given to the leader of the specific village . So i added an extra “o” to honestly avoid copyright infringement issues but the meaning behind the name stands because i view my music and audience as my “village” and it’s my responsibility to take care of them.
How did you get into music production?
It started off as me playing music production games on my tablets as a child around the ages from 9 to 13 because i had always had this deep-rooted interest and passion for music but never really knew how to get into making my own stuff. So in grade 8/form 1, i met someone who taught me how to use Fl Studio and so i started making beats in 2017
We really like your ability to blend different genres into one track, who or what would you say has influenced your style of production?
Honestly, it’s an amalgamation of different producers and artists as i take different things from the individually. For example, i love the way Pharell Williams approaches his beats and certain chord progressions, where with The Alchemist, his ability to chop up samples the way he does or even just finding the samples he does is amazing then artists like Smino or JID, who manipulate their voices to sound a certain way whilst also using their voice as percussive instruments is also insane.
One of our favourite tracks by you is Need U, what's the story behind the track, who's on the vocals?
With that song, the whole thing is honestly a different song that didn’t have any drums on it but just vocals, keys and bass. i can’t even remember the original name of the song but i separated the song into those different layers and added drums of my own. I initially wanted to keep it for myself but i knew i had to at least post it
You've worked with numerous artists across different genres, out of all these collaborations which one would you say is your favourite?
I don’t think i can put a finger on my favorite because we all work together but if i had to choose right now, it would have to be spacerover and lucas chubbs
Which artist would you like to work with that you haven't yet?
There are so many artists i really want to work with atm but for now it would have to be K.alahari without a doubt
Before you performed your set for Backyard Stories, they revealed that you learned how to dj with vinyls from your dad, how was the whole process?
So it’s an interesting story because my dad and his brothers are all former Djs but had their own preferred genres hence why i have the variety of genres between house, hiphop, rnb etc. It was mainly my dad teaching me but the whole process of actually using vinyl was hard but i caught on quickly because i never used digital djing software so i had nothing to reference.
So Botswana was recently introduced to the music collective 'Ascension Pleas' and how it came about but, we'd like to hear from your perspective about how you met the others, your music production process and how being part of the group benefits you as hookage?
So as we explain prior, it really was just coincidence because we didn’t really even have a motive to be at UB apart from rehearsals for Pablo%8’s show that week and we then just decided to work on something. In terms of meeting them, i had already known banzai the longest as we already been working since 2021 but i met Lucas Chubbs and spacerover last year, same with briann bc but that we met at UB was the first time me and BC (briann BC) made music together. For the time being, i usually just give them old beats i didn’t have use for but recently we’ve been working hard with the new beats i’ve been making. I usually make a beat then send it to them to see if they feel it then the decision is made whether to use it or not. Me being apart of the group let’s their audiences become aware of who i am and possibly follow me in my journey and on the other hand, it let’s me share my love for music with like minded people who i can consider my friends and that deep love for music is something you can’t share with anyone
A lot of new generation artists and creative platforms have been emerging in Botswana, which one would you say has stood out the most?
I would firstly say you guys because i’ve seen you guys grow so rapidly but it’s because of your authenticity. Other artists that have really caught my eye are borus, chrysus, emo, mantra, magadi. there are so many more but they’re just a few to name
Favourite producer from Botswana?
it would have to be Simba the Indigo, one of the members of K.alahari
Out of all the songs you produced, which one stands out the most to you?
It would have to be some unreleased, song name titled “Honesty” which will feature on my debut album. It might be my best produced song at the moment
What's next for you, Hookage?
I’ve been quietly working on my debut album which is set to drop next year. This album is what I’ve been working on apart from working with other artists, just slowly piecing it together and it’s going to be a great start for me to establish not only as a music producer but an overall musician.

Alright, so with an afternoon off from "real" writing, I wanted to take the opportunity to get back in the saddle writing about some of the live music that I've enjoyed lately.
The obvious starting point is Phish's four-night run at Las Vegas's Sphere. With a reputation as a band that always goes above and beyond when it comes to production and as only the second act ever to play this crazy new venue, I always fully expected Phish to use the technology in the Sphere to blow people's minds. I was just hoping they'd webcast it. And they did! Both, I mean! Blow people's minds and webcast it! My mind was destroyed! Completely! Clearly!
Exclamation! Points!
To be totally honest, as a guy who is on sabbatical and who has a bit of disposable income, I seriously thought about buy tickets for these shows when they went on sale. Vegas is literally my least favorite place on Earth, but it's a day's drive away and I guessed that these shows would be worth making the effort. But, when the tickets went on sale, the only point of reference I had for what the Sphere was like was video of U2 playing there and (no shade to U2, an all-time great rock band) they made it look sort of basic and gimmicky. I was also worried that, as a person with a history of finicky but malevolent-when-triggered motion sickness, I might spend over a thousand dollars to see this run only to then spend half of each night in the venue bathroom while everything spun endlessly around me. So I didn't buy tickets at first, and then the secondary market was...insane. So I did not buy tickets later, either.
Now, having watched the webcasts of the run, I mostly regret my decision. But, you know, life goes on.
As amazing and unique as these shows looked and sounded on my average-TV-and-soundbar setup at home, I can't imagine how astounding the sound and visuals were in person, paired with the fact that Phish also played four of their best shows I've heard possibly ever in a row while there.
So, obviously, I was always going to share some of the highlights on here.
Despite my long intro, though, this first share is going to get only very brief commentary. That's because, while it is one of my favorite examples of trippy visuals from the entire run, it is also an eight-minute version of "Carini."
"Carini" is loud, aggressive, crowd-pleasing (for the aforementioned reasons), and, often, jammed out to hell (or heaven, depending on the night) and back. This version is not really "jammed out," though, as much as it just features the band extending the song for a few minutes instrumentally by getting louder and louder before things end.
So, that's it. Instead of my usual 5,000 words of commentary, that's my summation of the music played during this version of "Carini."
Don't get me wrong, it's really good. Played as it was as an end to the first ever Phish set at the Sphere, and on the tails of a fantastic version of "Life Saving Gun," it was the ideal call in this situation, so no complaints from me. But I'm sharing more as a visual example of how awesome the band's production was throughout this run. And how awesome the drone footage makes the Sphere look (in my experience, the first time the band has ever used such dramatic, moving drone footage to document a show). But, you know, you can also enjoy the eight minutes of insanely loud "Carini" if you'd like. I won't stop you.

2024 album listens
Recording all the albums I listened to in full for the first time in 2024. Albums released this year are marked with a *
Making Movies by Dire Straits. 5/5 Top 3: Romeo and Juliet, Hand to Hand, Tunnel Of Love
Light, Dark, Light Again by Angie McMahon 4/5 Top 3: Saturn Returning, Divine Fault Line, Staying Down Low I liked this album but I thought some songs sounded a little samey samey. It reminded me of Punisher a lot.
I Put a Spell on You by Nina Simone 4/5 Top 3: Feelin' Good, One September Day, July Tree I've listened to a lot of the songs on this album but never the whole thing top to bottom. I love her voice so much. I just think some of the best songs on this album are a LOT better then some of the lesser songs.
Summer Days by San Cisco. 3/5 top 3: summer days, lost without you, high I love San Cisco but lately their music hasn't hit as much. I thought this was a fairly so so album. Songs were nice but it felt a little uninspired
MADRA by newdad. 4.5/5 top 3: nosebleed, angel, sickly sweet BANGER of an album. Super cohesive with some really interesting riffs and bits and bobs on each song. I was shocked to see this is a debut album. one of those albums where you immediately go back to relisten to the songs. only took the 0.5 away cos I think it's slightly too long
Loss of Life by MGMT. 3/5 top 3: dancing in babylon, bubblegum dog, nothing changes It's okay - I just thought it didn't really stick. Like not much REALLY stood out
eternal sunshine by ariana grande. 4/5 top 3: supernatural, I wish I hated you, we can't be friends & bye This was close to being perfect but I really think it needed a powerful ballad in the middle and the writing to me was okay in parts but overrall i really liked it. her vocals sound amazing this is the first ari album I've truly enjoyed since thank u next
the rise and fall of a midwest princess by chappell roan 4.5/5 top 3: after midnight, red wine supernova, coffee bit late to this one IM SORRY but wow this is such a fun and excellent album. I couldn't stop smiling the entire way through. I love that it also has some more slow and intimate moments too. Really embodying the idea of the rise and fall in the way the tone goes up/down sad/happy you know. It feels both familiar and new at the same time which I love. Sort of reminded me of melodrama in the structure which I LOVE. The ONLY reason I took off the 0.5 is because I feel the start of the album was a lot stronger then the end. I even think possibly one song could be cut. But it's very good! loved it!
grace by jeff buckley. 4.5/5 top 3: lover, you should've come over, hallelujah, forget her I've probably listened to 70% of this album just never sat down to listen to it all in a row. anyways LYSCO/Hallelujah has to be one of the craziest back to back song pairings ever. This is suchh a beautiful album my ONLY issue is I don't like eternal life and don't think it fits the vibe. Amazing album though
cowboy carter by beyonce. 4/5 top 3: texas hold em, bodyguard, blackbiird I thought the production of this was the highlight. Also loved how stylistic it was, I love a concept album. Thought the first half was stronger and it's too long, which is why it's a 4 star. Blackbiird cover was GORGEOUS, Jolene cover I don't love as much. The original tracks are great with a feww I don't love as much. Overall very good! I will be listening a lot
found heaven by conan grey. 3/5 top 3: killing me, winner, alley rose I think I wanted to like this more than I did. I really love new wave and the production was GREAT, literally sounded like a song off an 80s album. But I overall found it kind of derivative. It was like oh yep thats the elton song, thats the joy division song, thats the queen song. It felt almost inauthentic at times, and maybe it's just because cowboy carter just came out and showed us all how it's done but it just felt too much like copying music rather than being inspired by. Some of the songs were big misses for me, and the highlights were definitely the ones with more vulnerable lyrics and singing.
the tortured poets department. not rated yet top 3: but daddy I love him, down bad, fortnight I am so torn on this album. There is some songs I love a lot, and some I don't care for much. This is hard for me to say because I LOVE Taylor and I'm an original fan. But this synth pop sound isn't my fave. I found myself irritated by the sound of some songs, especially fresh out the slammer and my boy only breaks his favourite toys. I don't like how with Antonoff's production I can recognise familiar melodies and synths from previous songs. I was hoping this song would be the return of some real GUITAR AND DRUM and it isn't as much. That said, I've been streaming it a lot. I like how confessional the song writing it (despite some clunky moments) and a florence feature is so exciting to me. I love the modernised love story with BDILH and I think I can do it with a broken heart is a fun song. I also liked whose afriad of little old me as a concept song. I think it's hard for me because I know I'm biased toward Taylor and will ultimately find something to love in everything she does, and I think for her this was a blurt and drop album. But. I am really hoping for something a little different with the next release.
the tortured poets department: the anthology. not rated yet top 3: the black dog, the prophecy, the bolter Some of the above applies but I think overall I like this second album more. I think the black dog is one of her best releases yet and the prophecy is heartbreaking. It made me cry upon listen. I love Aaron Dessner. I do think there are some forgettable songs on this side as well though.
Silence is Loud by Nia Archives. 3/5 top 3: forbidden feelingz, cards on the table, nightmates I was surprised by this, the single doesn't sound like most of the album. This had more singing/talking than I expected and I kinda wish it had more dance/bangers. I did really like some songs though, but others were a bit forgettable. I think some more time with this could change my opinion a little though, though i'm not sure if that time will be agreeing it's forgettable or finding myself uncovering a little more here.
Oxalis EP by Swapmeet only 5 songs - mellow and laid back. Sort of a perfect driving in the car at night sort of sound, and I think I might revisit this album in that setting. Honestly don't think this was long enough to say much more. I'm intrigued, I'll look out for more! But I can't see this being a huge thing I revisit.

Beyond The Charts: Music you missed in 2023
The year 2024 is finally here. 2023 was a particular year for music, So many incredible releases  such as Lil Yachty’s Let's Start Here, all the way to the latest Danny Brown record, Quaranta. With all of these major artists getting their roses, we thought we would highlight some releases that have most likely gone under your radar. Today, we are highlighting artists that should have had their appreciation, but have been missed due to major artist releases.
추락은 천천히 (How to Sink Slowly) - Brokenteeth
The first release we’d like to highlight was released all the way back in february. This luscious shoegaze record is littered with incredible performances, amazing productions, and, dare I say, some of the best shoegaze moments of this decade. I first stumbled across this release on restless night on instagram where I was texting this one girl who sends me a bunch of incredible music; on this night she sends me one of the lead singles,  “Heaven Express(again),” to say I was entranced was an understatement; I had fallen in love with this track. And this effect wasn’t limited to that one track, the whole album was filled with these incredible, cohesive, gut-wrenching, tracks that puts you into this alternate reality.
I Am The Dog - Sir Chloe
Wow, I’m honestly surprised that this wasn’t talked about much. This is the debut album of indie rock band Sir Chloe. If you’re not familiar with that name, then you may have heard her tracks like, “Michelle,” “Sedona,” and “Animal,” from where her audio snippets would create viral sounds on TikTok. This band has been able to create some pretty great tracks. A track that I enjoy is the opening track, “Should I”. The tones of the guitars are so crisp and Dana’s vocal delivery really just nails this track. I enjoy tracks where there are these theatrical moments that really were some of Sir Chloe’s best. If you enjoy this release as much as we have, definitely check to see if Sir Chloe is touring in your area. They are also bringing up and coming musician, Daffo.
Dreamglow - Asian Glow X sonhos tomam conta
To be honest, I slept on this release pretty heavily. When it was initially released, I didn't completely listen to the whole album. I had only heard a couple of tracks and didn’t find it enjoyable. It wasn’t until a couple of weeks before writing this that I decided that I would give it another chance. I was so incorrect about my initial listen that I felt embarrassed. This album between two modern-day legends in the lo-fi scene is so gorgeous. From the incredible vocals from sonhos, to these sonic landscapes that Asian Glow creates, I'm honestly surprised that there isn’t as much of a buzz for this release. The beautiful blend of these two artists' respective styles create an experience that I wish more people paid attention to.
Failed at Math(s) - Panchiko
This is the latest and greatest release from everyone's favorite fabricated 4chan band, Panchiko. Whether you believe the story or not, this is their latest effort, and I find it quite enjoyable. There were a lot of great tracks throughout this LP, but I think what sold it, for me, is the track “Until I Know,” that hook is so addicting to have on repeat. It’s kind of crazy how they were able to sound so fresh. Even after twenty three years, it sounds as if they released this after their major debut, “D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L”. If you like this album, I am very excited to tell you that they are on tour! They will be touring the states with acts like Weatherday, Wisp, Glare, and Tagabow. Check to see if they’re in your area.
KNOWER FOREVER - KNOWER
Go listen to it. NOW. This synth-jazz album is packed with some of the best interesting hooks and basslines of this year. There is just so much happening all at once, and, I for one, think it's some of the best of its genre. Just from the track, “I’m The President,” that chorus has not left my mind since my initial listen. And it's not limited to just that track , there are countless times where I found myself humming the melody of plenty of tracks off of this album. It is most definitely worth your time.
Lost Dogs - Keep it Together
This album released mid 2023 is quiet but powerful. It's a mixture of snowy days in your room and hot summer nights by a lake with a friend - as contradictory as that sound. Honestly, there's so much great about this work. This little bit of uni rock (as the creators called it on their bandcamp release page) has got elements of hope, depression, loneliness, and intimacy. Having just under 3,000 listeners monthly on Spotify, I believe that the duo Keep it Together has a lot ahead of them. While this work isn't revolutionary, I think a lot of people would resonate with the fuzzy sounds and warm vibes that this music has. (You will be able to read a more in-depth review of this album in a future post.)
GIZMO - Tanukichan
This latest Tanukichan release is a comfy one. With songs like A Bad Dream, Make Believe, and Mr. Rain, it's easy to fall into a dreamy trance. The music from this release is a wonderful mixture of intensity and slowness. Tanukichan’s soft and flowy vocals are so relaxing and the deep buzzy guitar keeps you wanting more. Overall, this release is wonderful and shows the variety of Tanukichan's musical abilities while still holding true to that familiar sound of her previous works.
Heartbreak Rules - Horse Jumper of Love
Horse Jumper of Love has been a favorite artist of mine for a while now and this album is unique to the band's original style. It's got more monotone vocals, but you can still hear their signature sound. It's not a favorite, but it is still well worth a listen. This album is comforting to say the least.
LOVE + POP - Current Joys
This album has quite a bit of controversy throughout Current Joys fans. It's very much unlike Nick's other albums. It's not the same soft and sad slow songs. He brings out a different side to his music. He has said in the past that he takes inspiration from artists like Lil Peep, which you can definitely hear in this album. This album has more digital elements to it that I think are nice. This album is a big change from what Nick has put out in the past whether you mean from his side project Surf Curse or his main name, Current Joys. I'm excited to see where his new passions take him and what happens with his career.
Antarctica - waveform*
I had first only heard the first track from this album, Lonely without realizing who it was. I listened to it a few months later and ended up loving it. It's a breath of fresh air for my ears from everything going on. There's faster songs than what they've previously released which I like a lot. They take a lot of inspiration from artists like Alex G and Horse Jumper of Love. waveform* is an indie/folk rock band with elements of slowcore being brought into a lot of their tracks. Overall this album is great, especially if you like artists such as Sign Crushes Motorist, Turnover, or Wisp.
Not only were there some incredible albums, but there were some incredible EPS. Lets go over some.
Skin of My Teeth - Lowertown
I've been a fan of Lowertown for about 3 and a half years now, and I can say that this release is one of their best. They've matured as an artist in both sound and lyricism. With elements of folk and indie pop, this EP comes through strong and emotional. The emotions portrayed throughout this release are vibrant and many, with songs like Marionette showing feelings of irritation and betrayal and Bline bringing in dissociation and carelessness. It's one of the best releases of 2023 in my opinion.
Hitchhiker - Cuco
2023 has been a pretty busy year for Cuco. It seems that he does not want to stop his creative flow long after his 2022 release, “Fantasy Gateway''. Say what you want about his previous releases, you can not deny that his songs are getting a lot more mature. Whether it’s because his songwriting is better, or his songs are becoming more cohesive, it feels like Cuco is becoming more than the artist you used to listen to in middle school, and it's being proven with this EP. I enjoy how Cuco has been able to stay to his bedroom pop roots while mixing in more of his psychedelic pop. While not innovative, this EP does a great job of having some incredible love songs, Cuco’s writing has improved and it contains the best of his work.
CHASER - Femtanyl
This is the latest release from the new hyperpop artist Femtanyl. Her fun and crunchy sounds really come through on this EP. She has recently gone to Twitter (or in other names, X) announcing new music for this year. She's gained a lot of popularity from CHASER and I'm sure will only continue to grow. This EP gets me awake and productive when I feel sluggish, and I look forward to hearing more from her soon.
the way night falls - flyingfish
This EP is something else. It's so explosive and imaginative. This upcoming artist brings a lot to the table in the shoegaze scene. For fans of Lush and Julie, you should definitely give flyingfish a listen, starting with the song windowsill from this release. The harsh guitar mixes well with the artist’s soft vocals and ambient intros to the tracks. This 15 year old artist does what a lot of older artists wish they could do; the songs from this release are dreamy and wistful. Flyingfish has definitely become a favorite of mine from this release alone.
Antennae- Binki
This is the latest EP from actor, singer songwriter, Bikini. This EP is just so much fun. It’s the kind that doesn’t necessarily take itself seriously. With that said, this has so many catchy, memorable sounds throughout the EP. Definitely check it out if you’re a fan of acts like Remi Wolf, and Dijon
And that's it! if there were some releases that you thought should've been included, email us! [email protected]
thank you and have a good night xoxo

hey I know you just wrote for Clarisse but would you mind writing for her again? Possibly being something along the lines of reader being Percy's older sister and since she didn't like percy and he was gone on his quest she couldn't take it out on him so she did the next best thing, take it out on his sister. Over time Clarisse realizes she liked reader but never said anything and thought ifshewas meaner the crush would go away. (It didn't work) so one day the camp has a party where they play 7 minutes in heaven. Clarisse reluctantly joins and ends up getting matched with reader. What happened next Is up to you
Thanks :)
omg this sounds like an amazing idea! I have a part two already lined up for the original post, but once I'm done with that I'll get right on it, and I'll tag you in the finished product!

I was tagged by the amazing @taanoir, thank you so much dear ;)
🎶✨ When you get this, write down 5 songs you actually listen to and post them. Then send this (ask or tag) to 10 of your favorite followers cool ppl✨🎶
It's Friday and my super productive week is making for a slow day. Musically I'm all over the place but here's 5 from my current rotation (I've been working on end of year, biannual and quarterly reporting so it's a motivation playlist currently).
Farewell Wanderlust — The Amazing Devil, my all time favorite band, their lyrics and sound just makes me ascend everytime.
Heaven is Here - Florence + The Machine. Florence's music had been with me for soo long that at this point is just part of my brain default, love her. And this song is perfectly witchy.
Sunlight - Hozier, if love has a sound it's this song at least for me, it's just poetry make music, fantastic.
Love Like Ghosts - Lord Huron, beautifully written and soo haunting? idk y just love it so much.
Blood in the Wine - Aurora, the feeling and euphoria this song makes me have is insane, just pure bliss. Also metaphors, imagery and all that good shit.
Bonus: To Lose Himself in Vengeance from my favorite movie ever Ophelia, this absolute masterpiece is in my 24/7, just the perfect vibes.
If I tag you and this is not something you want to do, please feel free to ignore. Also if you want to play, consider yourself tagged.

This is so good‼️‼️‼️
When I was 18, right after my radical conversion experience of seeing Jesus and being made instantly sober(from being totally drunk and stoned); the guy that told me about Jesus, he and his dad talked to me for four hours on current world events and end times prophecy. The book of Daniel, Ezekiel and Revelations.
I was drop jaw amazed at how many parallels they made with current world events and the Bible.
They had Reagan pinned as the Antichrist and were convinced that the abomination of desolation was on the verge of happening(The complete destruction of America). In 1986.
They had passports to leave the country and move to Israel. I was so convinced based on their detailed strong arguments that this was truly at the door.
I too bought a passport, ready to ‘flee to the hills’ of Jerusalem.
The other day I was watching a video with Johnny Enloe title ‘Endtimes-ites’.
I thought it was fascinating as he described in great detail all of the generations of preachers over the years that were convinced the END was at the door.
Years later, I really can’t stand the subject and here is why…
That fear, dread and ‘focus’ on ‘end time’ events becomes a fragmenting distraction from the peaceful obedience to our ‘productive destiny’ in Christ Jesus.
The scary subject matter can render a person frozen with fear and it kills any inspired motive to build, grow, produce and move in our divine calling.
We are indeed at war for the souls of men, women and children, but we have a specific purpose that requires our [peaceable attention].
Jesus has won the victory and has called each one of us to ADVANCE his Kingdom where???
‘On earth as it is in heaven’…
The negative effect of ‘ENDTIMES-ITES’ on me personally caused me to live in fear and dread for a season and abandon any long term planning for my life in that season.
Years later, I believe it is far better to stay productive and obedient no matter how bad the storms in the world.
‘Rest in the boat of our calling’, so to speak.
The world needs us in our sound mind, the mind of Christ. Perfect peace, Joy, grace, mercy and love. Un-effected by the current panic of the day.
In my opinion, this is why we need to roll up our rapture rugs and find our sweet spot in Christ Jesus and ‘advance His Kingdom’ and stop wasting our time on ‘when’.
Either way, whether sooner or later, let Him find us busy doing His work on earth.
If you want to watch Johnny Enloe’s sermon on this subject, it may give you a better perspective of how I feel.
Hope it helps you like it helped me.

Gallery update 20 December 1972, Queen performed @ The Marquee Club, London, England The main act was Sparks, and Fantasy was the opening band.Queen’s last show of 1972, and one of only five during the whole year, was at The Marquee Club on December 20. Ronnie Beck was a good friend of John Sherry, a promoter who regularly booked bands into The Marquee, and he kindly agreed to find Queen the occasional gig. Their performance and the audience response was an improvement on The Pheasantry, but it brought them no closer to a record deal, not in the UK at least.  Ronnie Beck, whose reputation was merely focused by the industry’s apathy, had invited Jac Holtzman, the managing director of Elektra Records, to the show and afterwards Holtzman agreed to sign the band for the US. Queen were now part of a roaster boasting The Doors and Love on a credible American label which was trying to re-establish itself in the Seventies. But Queen yet could not find a record deal in the UK.” ‘Queen - The Early Years’ by Mark HodkinsonTrident set this show up as Queen's first as a "signed" band. 'Fantasy' was the opening act.
The guitarist of that band, Peter James, recalls: "The flier for the 20th just says two groups. If this was Queen's first Marquee gig, I'm sure it's us who played with them though I could never remember the date. It was a joint promotion gig. We had our first album out on Polydor. We went on first." The beautiful pictures were all likely taken by Doug Puddifoot. The first photo was used for the insert in the final Queen album, Made In Heaven. The second photo was used for the front cover of Queen's self-titled debut album Considering the circumstances around the latter, it was probably no coincidence that the remaining members of the band decided to bookend things by selecting a picture from the same show. A recording of this show is reportedly collecting dust in the band's archives after being purchased from a private collector. But it may be just one of a plethora of early recordings. It has been said that Queen's first front of house sound tech, John Harris, recorded all of the early Queen gigs from day one. Rumor also states that Queen Productions owns footage and there’s a “live” cut of ‘’Doing Alright” on YouTube, however, it sounds like the record version.  I can’t wait until the entire concert is pulled from archives and released. Here’s the amazing setlist:Great King Rat, Son And Daughter, Jesus, Doing All Right, Ogre Battle, Keep Yourself Alive, Liar, Jailhouse Rock, Bama Lama Bama LooQueen were confidently blazing a trail towards rock stardom, even though it would take another year before they gained mainstream popularity.
