The Frail and The Wretched are some of the best songs of all time IMO, The Frail is such an amazing instrumental, it may be a simple piano melody but it's so good, especially the Deviations 1 version, the lack of synths give it so much more emotion...

The Wretched is an actual musical masterpiece, IMO it's THE NIN song, the lyrics are so good, they go so hard, especially that second verse, it shows how good Trent is at giving you mental imagery using lyrics (a trait of his that shines in Reptile, those lyrics are good) The song sounds so fucking awesome, it both gives me dread and confidence, you know a song is good when it makes you feel 2 things that are complete opposites at once.

These songs are also so good live, and can't forget the remixes from Things Falling Apart.

Just watched The Wretched on Netflix, me and my boyfriend really love horror/thrillers and it had decent reviews…

It sucked ass. The tone was confusing, it went from light and cheery teen romcom to an awkward thriller/horror. It’s full of plot holes and plot twists that don’t even interest you or make any sense. It was entertaining, but not something I’d be caught dead seeing or recommending. The monster design wasn’t even as cool as the OG Netflix thumbnail looked :,)

Concept art is fire tho! I love the idea of the child munchin tree witch… just not done in this movie.

Honestly I really love Teenager Horror, which is just 'what if some teenage (usually boy) was subjected to horrors?

Babysitter and The Clove-Hitch Killer are the most obvious examples

It's sucu a delightful mix of the horrors and, like, Teenage Fiction

Anyway, The Wretched is that.

What this movie lacks in technical execution and writing, it makes up for in concept and ideas.

Which is to say, this is one of those movies that feels like it was just on the cusp of being Really Good, but didn't quite make it.

Good: lovely concept, the execution of that concept is pretty solid until the climax, little touches here and there that make things flow a little better.

Bad: The moment-to-moment technique is lacking, the characters largely stiff and one-dimensional, the tone is a little muddy at times

bias: hehehehe i love when things were there the whole time, heheheh i love when children aren't off-limits in horror
