NEW ANIMAL IDENTITY TERM. ANIFAUX. COINED BY US (k9s)
ANIFAUX - Someone who has some sort of deep rooted connection to an animal(s). These individuals feel out of place in their body, and that they would fit better as a species other than human. Their behavior, love style, and personality might reflect this behavior naturally. Anifauxies may have had a deep rooted connection to their anifauxtype since childhood, or could've discovered recently. They differ from therians and otherkin in the way that they know they are human and don't have any religious beliefs around their identity, but that feels fundamentally wrong. Their mental state more often than not reflects their anifauxtype, and though they may shift to a heavier anifaux regression, the constant animalistic view on the world never truly goes away.
if you relate, find out your anifauxtype below
How does this differ from Therians?
Tumblr media
We made this because Therianthropy/Nonhuman/Otherkin just didn't feel right. Some Therians aren't religious, and I can see how other nonhuman identities are similar! We just made this term because those didn't feel right. It feels as if god accidentally put an animals brain in our body (though we don't believe that, it's just a heavy identity feeling.) It's definitely something to do with our mental disorders that make it hard to socialize with people. But Dogs? Cats? Befriended instantly. We love like a dog, our physical behavior reflects canines, yet we know we're human. But "human" is just wrong.
TERM LIST
- Anifaux , General Term
- Anifauxtype , Specific Animal
- Anifauxies , Members of this Term
ANIFAUXTYPES
- Canidfaux (Dogs, Foxes, Wolves, Coyotes, etc)
- Felidfaux (Domestic Cats, Lions, Jaguars, etc)
- Leporidfaux (Rabbits and Hares)
- Ursidfaux (Bears)
- Avianfaux (Birds)
- Chirofaux (Bats)
- Rodenfaux (Hamsters, Rats, Ferrets, etc)
- Amphifaux (Frogs, Salamanders, etc)
- Arthrofaux (Spiders, Scorpians, Butterflies, Bees, etc)
- Vertefaux (Sharks, Fish, Rays, etc)
- Procyfaux (Raccoons, Ringtails, etc)
- Reptilfaux (Snakes, Turtles, Bearded Dragons, etc)
- Hyaenfaux (Hyenas)
- Ungufaux - (Sheep, Goats, Deer, etc)
- Mustelfaux (Weasels, Badgers, Otters, etc)
The way this naming system works is based on the scientific groupings of animals. If you don't see yours - look up your anifauxtypes scientific grouping, shorten it, and slap faux on the end. C:

ive been thinking about this for a while and y'know. there isn't actually a big difference between someone asking you not to refer to them as human and someone asking you to use gender neutral language for them. ive seen fellow queer people (mostly on twitter) whine and scream and shit their pants over being asked to not call someone human, as if that is somehow different from a transphobe throwing a fit about being asked to use singular they for someone? how often does that even come up? do you seriously refer to others often enough with the word "human" that being asked not to is a major inconvenience? I don't know how to finish this post but you get the idea it's hypocritical and annoying

AMBITHERIANTHROPY: to identify both as many specific species within an animal, but not all, as well as identifying as the general/overall animal itself
EXAMPLE: a snake ambitherian may be a burmese python, a king cobra and a cornsnake therian. they may not identify with any other specific species like a viper or rattlesnake, but they do identify generally as a snake and see themselves in all species of snakes alongside their specific species therianthropes
COINAGE: the term exists somewhere between quitherianthropy, cladotherianthropy and therianthropy, as I felt that these terms didn’t fully describe my experience. ‘ambi’ derives from the latin meaning ‘both’. the definition is somewhat loose and subjective, feel free to use as you please and tweak slightly if you find comfort in the term. if the definition seems contradictory to some, that’s because it may be- this is the best explanation of my experience and I hope others may find it useful too

- ANIMPUNK -
Tumblr media
Coined by and flag made by: Xan @bones-and-earth
What is it:
ANIMPUNK is a punk label and punk identity based around being treated as an animal by humanity, and or identify as a therian/or animal. The animal identity or animal label being integral to your identity. Aswell as integral to the use of the ANIMPUNK label.
What does it stand for?:
•Therian identities
•Nonhuman/subhuman identities
•Those of any marginalized group who were/still are treated as animals instead of rightfully being treated and seen as human.
•Punk ideals
•The idea of being an animal or reclamation of the term animal still being counter culture to the mainstream society and using it to empower yourself and others.
THIS TERM IS NOT MEANT TO BE USED AS A WEAPON OR INSULT TO OTHERS! IT IS MEANT TO EMPOWER!
Please like and reblog!

Feeling super happy and connected to my tundra wolf self right now :)
For a long time I really tried to push away and brush off my wolf-ish tendencies and refused to consider it as a theriotype because I didn’t want to seem ‘stereotypical’, as a wolf is one of the most common kintypes. I was afraid that saying I’m a wolf would make me seem less valid, or even attention-seeking.
But recently I finally came to accept that a tundra wolf is one of my theriotypes, and I feel so free! Don’t deny parts of yourself out of fear of seeming ‘basic’, or whatever.
You are who you are! 🤍

(EDIT: term name has been changed from othervior to othersimil cuz vior refers to a different term in the mogai community. othersimil comes from the latin word similis which means similar) you know what? fuck it we ball
Othersimil: a term that has two different meanings:
not exactly being a creature, but sharing or having behaviors and traits that are similar to that creature
identifying as SOME aspects of a creature, not all
an example of this would be a dragonkin who has cat-like traits and identifying as catsimil. they may not be a cat themselves but cats do play a role in how they identify a similtype is written like (creature) - simil another example of this would be me, i am wolfsimil. i feel as if my kintypes may have wolf-like behaviors (such as howling, snarling, etc) and i do identify as a wolf to some extent. but i am not FULLY a wolf. so its basically a much stronger connection to a hearttype, but not as completely identifying as a kintype. if that makes sense lol theres no symbol or flag...yet. but i might make one let me know if this has been coined before but i was tired of not having a term to describe my coastal wolf similtype lmao mostly meant for otherkins and theriomythics, but anyone who feels like this fits them can use this!
uh yea please reblog so that this term can become more well known i guess :3 (not forced)

I've been wanting to make something like this since I saw this post and this post, and now I've finally done it! Introducing... Astral's "Base Traits" Scale (working title)
Tumblr media
The intention here is to provide a way for people to easily label their 'types, whether that's kin, hearted, constels, links, whatever, without a whole paragraph of "it's caused by blank and feels like blank" stuff (not that you can't say that I just got tired of it for myself). More clarification and google doc link under the cut, although you can of course just use the above image. @goddamnitlopori and @vaguetypes thank you for inspiring me to do this! I hope it's okay to tag you, if not I apologize.
Spiritual Connection: how much of a spiritual connection you have to the identity Psychological Connection: how much of a psychological connection you have to the identity Identification: how much you identify as this type, “i am this” Relation: how much you relate to this type, “i am like this” Voluntariness when found: whether the identity was voluntarily chosen in the beginning Voluntariness now: how voluntary the identity is now, eg whether you could drop it at will Selfhood: how important the identity is to your sense of self, how much of “you” is this type Incongruence: dysphoria, phantom limbs, astral bodies, shifts of all kinds Consistency: how often you identify as/with this type

Altersoul / Otherbeing
[pt: altersoul or otherbeing. end pt]
Other names: Alterhuman, Alterbeing, Alterentity
flag is a wip
Altersoul is a term that refers to someone who does not fit the traditional standard of what is considered human, and/or does not identify as human. This can include non-human system members and introjects; however, it also includes singlets who don't quite fit the term human, or identify as non-human to an extent.
Otherbeing includes:
Therian, phytanthrope, otherkin, and fictionkin identities
Spiritual self-identities which may or may not still include degrees of humanity, such as angelics, celestials, god-shards, reincarnated gods, vampires, etc.
Identities of alternative humanity through dissociation, trauma response, or neurodivergent mental status.
Any other non-harmful self identification that will be seen as non-human
This term EXCLUDES people that identify as plural median, and walk-in AS an alterhuman identity. You can only be a system through trauma and it's not an identity you can put on whenever you want.

Othermask Coining Post
Tumblr media
Othermask is a term I came up with. It's an alternative to KFF, and was made after I saw several posts talking about how being Otherhearted/Synpath/Otherlink doesn't fit all of what KFFers might describe as kin.
Othermask mainly means that you find some kind of pleasure in adopting a nonhuman identity for any length of time. It's voluntary, and can be taken on or off however the person wants.
Like someone with a favorite pair of clothes, or settling into a warm bath. It's something that makes you feel better.
I named it Othermask, because it's putting on a mask for a while. There's enjoyment in being someone/something else. That's why people want to be actors in the first place. That's why we find joy in roleplaying.
The Othermask flag has colors from a winter palette. Winter, some can find it pleasurable, it goes away and comes back for some people, isn't there for others, and is always there for some.
Image ID: A flag with six stripes, all shades of blue and white. In the middle is a black domino mask.
