thinking about the sonic 2 premiere i went to alone, at like 3pm (it was def early afternoon but not sure when) with just like 5 other people in the room (moms with kids) and how everyone left before the credits ended and i was sitting there Gripping the fuck out of the seat in front of me after the whole movie and then seeing post creds shadow i yelled (quietly) (sorry to the staff guy coming in to clean) it was the best movie experience ive ever had cant believe its been almost 2 years now

also the very next day i went to see it again with a friend to show him what the fuck i just saw and also make sure what i saw was actually real and not a daydream

I went to an amusement park last night!!! With a bunch of actors trying to scare ppl and haunted houses and stuff :3 very fun

#the sky speaks #felt so free fr. in a park full of freaks in cool costumes. with my friends who are neurodivergent Like Me #i don't have to hold back anything w them like at all it's so nice #wish i saw them more often #scheduling is hard #BUT ANYWAYS!!! i love haunted houses so much ohhhh my god. they give me the giggles and i cannot stop #same with roller coasters actually. i cackle like a clown or perhaps a witch. i cannot help it #idk what it is but the whole atmosphere makes me soooo happy like genuinely we'll leave the haunted house and ill be skipping out of there #i loved the clown actors so much oh my god theyre so fun !!!! one kept waving at me :) and when we were on this one ride!! #he was watching bc it like goes in a circle and up this ramp?? and every time we passed by he would put his hands in the air #and everyone was copying him it was cute. i made heart hands at him once #there was also this like diorama of skeletons playing baseball? and he went onto the field and was pretending to coach them dramatically #i think i lost my voice from yelling and laughing so much tho #whoopsie daisy 😅

thinking about peter cushing’s obviously deep, meticulous, and enthusiastic interest in the character of victor frankenstein as a doctor

#it’s everything. i don’t think there’s ever been another actor as meticulous as peter cushing…. i don’t think there could be now #the job of actor itself has changed. but every interview where he discusses playing the baron— every move and handling of an instrument was #studied. he joked his gp used to love it when he rang because he knew he wasn’t ill he just wanted to know how to take a brain out #he said something about if there happened to be a doctor in the audience he didn’t want them to spot him handling his scalpel etc #incorrectly— and i mean rightly so the baron is meant to be a surgeon above all surgeons after all— but that level of study and seriousness #is unparalleled i think. his approach to van helsing and sherlock holmes was very similiar— i imagine it was the same to all characters #honestly. he used to learn everyone’s lines not just his #but it brings something so unique and fascinating to hammer’s depiction of victor frankenstein. as someone who’ll probably always be a #little obsessed with the man. adding things like the janus-faced nature of the ‘bedside manner’ and the reputation of ‘the good doctor’ #where they never featured in shelley’s original novel— i’m saying nothing new here but hammer’s victor has always #struck me as an extrapolation of what would happen if victor was stripped of his human limiting factors. #remorse. love. a family. mortality. and my points here are probably linked most to #the revenge of frankenstein (1958) but i think it applies in general. #but yes. i wish there were more surviving interviews of cushing discussing his relationship to ‘old frankenstein’ as he called him. #especially since surgery etc was coming on leaps and bounds at the time the films were being made— 50s > 70s is a long time in medicine #and he spoke about things like organ transplants with such fascination…. there’s a brain transplant in so many of the films of course #it does make you wonder. some things now would’ve fascinated him i think. #perhaps this is an odd thing to say but i wonder what he’d have made of transgender surgeries? i like to think he’d be deeply interested

Just binged the entire season of Wednesday so I can start reading fanfics and I have some thoughts

The show is not good. I didn’t hate every second of it but it was not enjoyable. Not even halfway through, I was already bored and needed a short break to get back in. This show is not about The Addams Family, far from it. It’s like someone turned a fanfic full of headcanon into a show. Pugsley was not acting like himself, Morticia and Wednesday had a falling out, and Gomez and Morticia don’t have the same chemistry the ones from the past had. I’d like to note that I’m using the 1990s film as my main basis of what the Family is supposed to be like as that is the most accepted portrayal of them that is known well enough. I’ve seen videos of avid fans of the Addams family speaking ill of the show and I was not expecting this. I have a lot of thoughts about the show, and not many of them are nice, so I’ll end this here. Was it worth watching? It was a nice show to play in the background while I played a mind-numbing game. Also, I did it for the fanfics. I wanted to read Wenclair fics and I will now do so.
