“Stop pulling the cover!” I yank some of the cover back. “I’m cold!” Vinnie said, yanking it back. “You walk around half naked everyday! How are you suddenly cold now!?” I scrunch my face up. “Because I am!”

Vinnie and I got in a fight a few hours ago. I don’t usually like fighting and I wouldn’t have been so upset if it wasn’t really important to me. We were supposed to have dinner together at this really nice place and had reservations but, Vincent being Vincent lost track of time over his stupid game. So by the time we made it they had given our table away.

I wouldn’t have mind but, with him being signed to IMG Models and me having to travel a lot for my job, we barely had time to spend together. If I was some famous person than I could be with him anytime I’d want. No, see, I actually have a 9 to 5 and don’t have enough times on my hands unlike some people. I may or may not have brought that up.

“Y/n, I said I was sorry.” Vinnie sighed as we walked into my apartment. “Yeah, whatever.” I grumbled as I walk upstairs. “Y/n, what’s the big deal? We’ll have another date night.” Vinnie stood at the end of the stairs and I turned midway on the staircase. “And when do you think that’ll be Vincent!? Two months from now!? I’m so sorry but, some of us don’t make our schedule! Some of us actually have to work!” I yelled as I folded my arms.

He glared at me. “You think I don’t work?! I work every damn day Y/n!” He yelled back at me. “Oh please Vincent, your job is being sexy and a photo for fourteen year olds to masturbate to.” I rolled my eyes and continuing walking up the stairs. “At least I’m doing my dream!” Vinnie yelled. “I’ve achieved my dream and got financial stability, you asshole!”

As you can see, we haven’t talked since. The whole dream thing was about me wanting to model and act but, when I decided in college that I wanted to be financially happy and actually have a job I could depend on unlike acting and modeling. Because once you hit a certain age roles and jobs dry up for whatever reason. Plus, who the fuck wants to deal with paparazzi!? Those assholes killed Princess Diana and made Britney Spears’ life a living hell.

Yeah, so I choose my other dream route. Marketing consultant. Sometimes I travel a lot to other firms to study and bring clients to my firm company. While Vinnie gets to sit at home and play video games and look sexy. I get out of my thoughts by feeling another tug. “Can your sexy ass stop pulling the cover!” I speak and instantly regret my words.

I feel the bed move and a head on my forearm. “Did you just call me sexy?” He asked. “No.” I try to hide my smile. “Liar. You know, you said something about fourteen year olds masturbating to me but, I’ve caught you masturbating to photos of me.” His fingers ling on my side before I quickly flip on my back. Letting out a gasp. “You have not!” I said and Vinnie shrugs. “I have too. Hell, I’ve caught you with your secret vibrator pretending it was me.” Vinnie laughs at me as I stare at him with wide eyes.

“I thought I was being sneaky with it.” I mutter as I pout. “Yeah, but you’re very vocal.” Vinnie pinched my side. “Whatever.” I cross my arms and look away. “I am sorry about missing the dinner.” He said before kissing my neck and nuzzling into it. “Yeah, I know.” I sigh as I rub the bridge of my nose. “Sometimes I’m afraid with us being apart so much, you may find someone else. Someone better.” Vinnie quickly shoots up. “That is the most stupidest thing I ever heard you say.” I scowl at him before he continues.

“To ever think that I would leave you because of distance is an insult. I wouldn’t leave you if you had to go to China for three months!” I laugh and Vinnie let’s out a smile. He strokes my face softly before placing a kiss on my lips. “Plus, I like when you’re away and come back to me.” He mutters as he rest his forehead against me. “Why?” I scrunch up my nose. “Because it gives me more pleasure knowing i can fuck you for as long as I want to make up time.”

I smack my lips before responding, “I seriously think you’re a sex addict. You probably have a Fleshlight somewhere.” Vinnie smirks. “Maybe I do. Maybe I don’t. That is one thing you’ll never know.” I roll my eyes. “Okay, Dr. Seuss.”

I actually live in Florida and used to be a Disney regular before covid :( The others were spot on with the bug spray but another option that my mom and I love are the citronella wrist bands which we wear one on each wrist, lol, and if it's really bad one on an ankle (but that's like if it's super bad, which would normally be at night). You might be able to order them before you go just to make sure they have them.

As with everywhere be careful with shorts and stuff if you're at a theme park because of germs, especially on rides. When we do Disney or any theme parks, it's exercise pants all the way, same with tops because it's going to be super hot and you're going to get super sweaty because Florida mixed with Disney is so so hot.

Florida during the summer is also super rainy, so bring a poncho or rain coat. We're also just starting the hurricane season, so be aware of that too, checking NOAA's hurricane website is always helpful too keep an eye out. Right now there's a system in the gulf, that they're keeping an eye on but it most likely is going to travel down south. Most hurricanes/tropical storms don't hit the Orlando area, mostly south Florida, but that's been changing a bit, but historically it's never too crazy there. Orlando still gets hit crazy with rain though, bringing a poncho is a must at the parks, otherwise you're going to have to buy one there and it's way cheaper to bring one to the parks, local Publix's, Walgreens, CVS's should have them for a few dollars max.

I'd also highly recommend bringing a backpack or draw string back pack instead of a purse, and if you do use a purse I'd 100% recommend a crossbody. Backpacks are great because you can bring in stuff that you'll need throughout the day while also having the ability to be hands free. I also could not recommend bringing a battery pack & a charging cord for your phone more! Most stuff at WDW is on their app and so depending on what's running on your phone, your phone's battery might not last the whole day. There's a bunch more but that's kind of a good gist of WDW stuff. I haven't been to Universal in forever, but from when I was there years ago, we kinda did the same stuff we did at Disney there :)

Portable fans are awesome, this one's a necklace and all be it may look goofy sometimes but it's nice to have if you're in line and stuff. Plus you can always keep it in your bag. You can normally find them at Walgreens :)

Baseball hats, especially the athletic kind that's made out of breathable fabric are also great, plus depending on the one you get it has SPF for your scalp, which a lot of people forget about.

Also, everyone talks about the dole whip understandably, but the Orange Bird float (with soda) or the orange bird in the cup is absolutely everything. Personally I think it's much better than the dole whip. I'm not sure if it's anywhere else on property, but it's at the sunshine tree terrace in the magic kingdom.

Amid a fairly flat European market, Giant Ventures raises $250M to invest transatlantically

Giant Ventures, a UK-based VC that has made a habit of investing on both sides of the Atlantic, is launching two new funds, totalling $250 million. It’s previous fund had totalled $100 million.

JPMorgan Chase Acquires First Republic Bank After U.S. Government Takeover

The California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation disclosed that First Republic Bank had been closed and put into receivership by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) before being sold to JPMorgan. This is the third time that the U.S. government has taken control of a U.S. lender this year. The acquisition includes the assumption of about $92 billion of deposits and the acquisition of most of First Republic Bank's assets, including approximately $173 billion of loans and around $30 billion of securities. Rebranding of the 84 branches of First Republic Bank will take place, and they will open as usual on Monday. JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said that the bank's bid was made in such a way that it would minimize costs to the FDIC's Deposit Insurance Fund. The FDIC estimates that this will cost the fund about $13 billion. The U.S. Treasury Department was pleased that this issue was resolved with the least amount of cost to the Deposit Insurance Fund. First Republic is the biggest U.S. bank to fail this year, and it's the third. Federal regulators acted in March to protect customers of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank, taking unprecedented action to insure all deposits at the two banks, even those exceeding the FDIC's $250,000 threshold for insurance. After Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank were taken into receivership, the FDIC solicited bids to buy the two lenders. New York Community Bank's subsidiary bought most of Signature Bank, and Silicon Valley Bank was acquired by First Citizens Bank. Recent earnings reports suggest that deposits have stabilized, and more bank runs didn't come to pass. However, First Republic was the exception. That deposit pressure was worse than expected, according to Jared Shaw, a bank analyst at Wells Fargo Securities, and First Republic shares tumbled last week. The San Francisco-based bank, which mostly catered to wealthy clients and offered home mortgages and commercial loans, announced on Monday that it had lost $100 billion worth of deposits during the first three months of the year. Trading of the bank's shares became so volatile that the New York Stock Exchange halted trading several dozen times last week. Despite receiving a $30 billion deposit from 11 of the country's largest banks, led by JPMorgan, First Republic failed to convince Wall Street, and customers continued to withdraw their money. The bank was running out of options and attempted to sell itself, but it found few takers. The government-led rescue was the only available option. RepubLIKHA Company Web Design | Psychedelic 60s Theme

“RepubLIKHA Creatives is a team of designers formed in 2022. This company website design concept is created by Claire Dauz. The team believe that there is always something to learn from history especially now when there are a lot of contested meanings and off shoots of different advocacies as resurgence of youth consciousness. It is good to trace the roots of social movements, a lot of which popped off in the 1960s.

RepubLIKHA Creatives help identify their client's purpose and brand, build their business and relationship with customers, and create a statement for them in the form of their services.”

Our Design History (AAV-104) course under professor Rino Datuin wherein we focused on the relation of history and design, how they have influenced another and how we can apply them in different design field.

Our first plate submission was focused on Visual Communication. For this, we as a team were required to choose an era and create a mood board (img.1) wherein our individual outputs will be based off.

1960s History Overview

Our team went with 1960s. An era of Counterculture. [insert more explanation here]. We were introduced to the PESTLE Analysis (img.2) that helped us identify the timeline’s situation and how community (and design) responded.

The first concept presentation happened on October 26, 2022. Our team thought we had to submit the final output on that day so we tried to complete our works within 5 days. I believe we did well and we only had minor revisions. I chose to create a website UI and this is my initial design (img.3).

This plate was my first design output after taking a gap year and I really found it difficult but our professor recommended us videos and podcasts that could help us! One of them was Netflix Abstract’s Paula Scher, a renowned graphic designer. She specializes in typography, revolutionized it even. In the documentary she said that ‘you need to be in a state of okay to design’ and I clung to this statement, I constantly thought about it to get through.

Design Process

I had one main concern besides the branding. It was retaining the characteristics of psychedelic art when website user interface is minimalist in design for legibility. I asked myself, “how do I make this dynamic or have a sense of movement?”. The solution I came up with was applying elements and principles of design on the typeface or objects.

Regarding the color palette and typefaces used, my groupmates had a consultation with our professor for the moodboard and he said to them that we should be historically accurate thus my reason for strictly using colors found in the moodboard and Goudy Heavy Face and Helvetica throughout. They were fonts created in 1960s according to our research.

For the Landing Page, I envisioned it to be eye-catching similar to psychedelic posters that are highly contrasted and a dissolution of matter. I wanted the page and the brand to appear like a statement in relation to Counterculture, a time of social and political movements.

I drew this on Apple Procreate and I specifically referenced or took inspiration from the Ford HI-Performance Parts Ad 1969 (img.5). I also looked into Islamic Art and its elements because the organic and floral motifs I saw in Hippie Fashion reminded me of it. Made me wonder if there is a connection, and the answer is yes. While Psychedelic Art is a resurgence of Art Nouveau, the movement that came before this was Arts and Crafts – which was influenced by Islamic Art.

Moving on to the About Us Page, I wanted the members to be presented uniquely. I thought it was an opportunity to utilize text warp! I made several sketches (img.6) and first decided on doing radials for emphasis but when I did, it felt constricted. Instead I focused on ‘Meet The Team’ text, played with Coreldraw’s existing warp or Envelope Preset, and ended up with that. I

I imagined the Services page to be a scrollable. I had no original works to present so I settled with images that defined the kind of service and washed or multiplied it against the background. I used text warp again then added below the service type title (i.e. videography) a view button to imply that the user can see sample works.

There is nothing notable with the Contact page, I just patterned it to the About Us page. Even the footer is simple because I wasn’t sure if it was alright to add elements - if it was, I would pattern it to the Landing Page.

I decided on a specific target audience last when this should have been first. I really just envisioned that the company can cater to all.

In conclusion, the final design is not far from the initial design. I improved the design by adding website elements like headers and footers to functional as feedback by our professor. I also added “clickable” buttons because in my research, it said that website need to have a ‘call to action’, interaction with the viewer is important. I had to resize the layout to the standard size 1920 x 1080px.
