Summary: You never thought you’d win that promotion from The Brothers Trust, but you did it. You’ve never been a very lucky girl and bad things happened to you. Things that leave you with marks. But the longer you spend with Tom, the more you have hope that good things may happen. This trip will surely change your life.

You're sweating and squirming in the hotel bed while disturbing dreams disturb your sleep. You cry softly in your dream, trying futilely to fight the flickers of your mind. Until finally, after the torment of experiencing everything bad again, you wake up, breathing fast and tears in your eyes.

It's always like that. One thing is enough, no matter how small, to wake up the memories of the days that people mistreated you.

You close your eyes tightly, trying to get the images out of your head, and soothe your racing heart.

It’s not real. I’m not there. I’m here. In a hotel room. I’m safe. I’m safe.

You pull out the sweaty blankets on top of you looking for a little air, and pick up your phone. Your heart stop in your chest again to see that you are super late, and that in matters of minutes Tom would be there to get you.

Quickly you get up from the bed and rush to the bathroom, taking the quickest shower of your life. When you left, your phone is ringing.

“Hello?” You say as you try to dress.

“Y/N?” Tom's familiar voice echoed in your ears, making a lump form in your throat. “Where are you? I’m here already.”

“H-How did you get my number?”

“The application? Your basic information is all there” He answer, with a laugh.

“Right. Sorry, had forgotten that.” You say, without laughing back. He thought that was strange. “I’m so sorry. I’m almost there. Just… Hold on.” You hung up, with no other explanation.

Tom look at his cell phone for a few minutes with a frown.

He think that your attitude is, at the very least, strange. First, he know you well enough to know that you’re too responsible to just “be late”. You looked almost breathless on the phone, which only made him worry more.

Not to mention what happened the day before.

When you returned to the hotel, you definitely looked better, but still, your eyes seemed to be afraid of something. That thought left Tom a long time awake at night.

Tom's worries only materialize when he see you.

You definitely didn't look well. Your eyes are tired, as if you had not slept, and some marks of tears were on your face. The image made Tom's heart ache.

Why were you like this? A person like you, so good and kind shouldn’t be this way. You should only know happiness.

You get in the car in a hurry, guilty consuming you for making him late.

“Tom, I’m so so sorry. I understand if you never get me again. Which would be weird, because I only have one more day here. But I understand if you get angry and-”

“Hey, hey. hey!” He interrupts you, more and more worry about the way your chest rose and fell quickly. “Take a breath, Y/N. I’m not mad. I promise.”

You take a deep breath. Trying to control the confused emotions.

He let you calm down a bit and ask, looking into yours eyes:

“Are you okay?”

You lose your breath one more time, with the sudden and serious question. You definitely didn't want to lie, but you didn't want to tell the truth either. You couldn't ruin things again.

“Of course! I’m just a bit tired today. That’s all.” You try your best smile, but clearly, he’s not convince. “Come on, Holland! You’re going to be more late that you already are!” You hurry him, hoping that he would let go.

He sighs. "Yes, ma'am.” And he set the car in motion.

Clearly, he wouldnt.

All the way to the set, Tom casually give you worried looks, which you try so hard to ignore, as well as the headache that consumes you more and more.

When you got there, you greete everyone while they work. Like the day before, you watch things closely as the movement intensified, but this time, the sleepless night and the headache took away all your energy, as did the occasional tremors that rose up your spine.

When Tom finish filming another scene, Zendaya approachs him as he stare at you, who was leaning against the wall and eyes close.

“Is Y/N okay?” She asks him with a worry look.

Tom runs his hand through his sweaty curls in frustration.

“I don't know. But I don't think so. When I arrived to get her, she looked scared, her breath was racing and she wasn't… wasn't smiling. Which is extremely weird, because she's a sunshine. Now she looks sad and tired.... And I just don't know why…”

“She don't look fine…”

“No shit Sherlock! You heard anything I said?”

She roll her eyes.

“Go talk to her. We're almost finish here. So she can rest a little.”

Tom nods and start walking toward you. You didn't open your eyes, but you felt someone kneeling next to you.

“Y/N? You okay?”

“Just a bit tired today.” You say weakly, still without opening your eyes, as a tremor passes through your body.

Tom frowns and brings his hand to your forehead. Immediately, the scorching heat hits his hand, causing his eyes to widen.

“Y/N, you're burning up!”

You try to disagree with him, but your head is too heavy to do anything.

“Tom, I'm fine.”

He ignores you as he helps you get up.

“Let's go to my trailer. You can rest there. It's too cold here.”

“No, Tom. I want to stay here and watch you.”

He runs his hand around your waist and places your arms around his shoulder.

“You still have tomorrow, don’t you? If you're better tomorrow, you can watch me.”

You want to fight and say you're fine, but all the energy in your body is gone, and Tom suddenly seems too comfortable to get out of his strong arms.

You hear him say something to someone, but your brain is too fuzzy by the fever.

You walk slowly down the hallways, Tom carrying half weight of your body. But at some point you felt too tired, so sleepy, that you fell, unable to stay stand.

“Hey, hey, hey!” He caught you before you fall. “Y/N, darling, you have to stay awake for me okay?”

Then he takes you in the arms with all the care of the world, like the first time you hugged each other. As if you were made of glass and could break.

He leads you quickly through the aisles until you reach the trailer. His heart was tight with the possibility that something is wrong with you.

He lays you down on the couch and immediately picks up a blanket and puts it on top of you.

“I'm sorry…” You say, almost sleeping.

He give you a confused look, “What for?”

“For hindering and giving problems.”

Tom feel his heart ache again.

“No, no, no, Y/N.You are sick. We all get sick from time to time. You don’t have to apologize, okay? Just ... Rest.” You nod slightly and he grabs a wet towel and placed it on your forehead. The sensationis too good that you sleep almost instantly. Tom's concern only grow with that.

Harrison arrive shortly after, wondering what had happened. Tom quickly explained everything to him and soon after, you are going to the hospital.

You open your eyes slowly, trying to get accustomed to the light of the unknown place. Your whole body hurts, but still, you try to get up, just to feel a hand on your shoulder.

“Whoa, whoa. Calm down. Everything is fine.” You look in the direction of the voice to see Tom, sitting in a chair next to you, with a tired and worry look.

“Tom…?” You ask, in a sleepy voice.

“Hey, love. Glad you’re back with me.” He smile.

“Where I am?” You asked, seeing the IV on your arm, wanting to pull it off.

“You have to keep this there.” He says as he puts your hand away from the IV. “You are in the hospital. The doctor said you're okay. Your fever was an emotional thing, and you just need rest.” He sighs in relief as he says this. Only the thought of something is wrong with you it causes shivers. But, while one concern is gone, another settles. What could you be feeling that made your body react that way? “Mom and dad are down stairs, eating something.”

Guilt and shame consumes you instantly. You feel like the worst person in the world for worry the sweetest persons that you ever met. You try to get up, but Tom don’t let you.

“Hey, what you doing?” He says, lightly pushing your shoulder to lie on the bed.

“Tom, I’m fine. I don’t need to stay here. I’m just worrying tour parents and they don’t need to be here. Plus, I don’t have money to pay for this.”

He rolls his eyes.

“C’mon, Y/N. Do you really think I would let you pay for it? And this is nothing to me or them. We care about you and we would be more worry if you leave the hospital like that.” You look at him, hating the way he look worry. “Please. Just… Rest a little. When you feel better we will go back to the hotel. Please.”

“Just a little?”

“Just a little.” He guarantees you. “Okay?”

“Okay.” You lie in bed looking at him and smile.”Happy?”

He smiles contentedly, and picks up a bag on the floor.

“I had a hunch that you would look like this, so I brought some books that we bought yesterday.”

You smile broadly. "That's so sweet of you. Thank you."

He gives you back the smile, and you examine the books he has brought.

He brought even that one that you told him. You raise an eyebrow.

He pass his hand in his hair and smile softly.

“I was wondering if you could read to me.” He says, looking embarrassed.

Your eyes light up.

“Sure! I’m sure you gonna love!”

Tom puts his chin on the bed and you sit down comfortably opening the book and beginning to read. He looks at you with lighted eyes, admiring your sweet voice.

The reading sounds like a song in your voice, so compassionate and passionate…

Tom knows. He knows, but will don't accept. He cannot accept or believe. How could he be falling so fast in love with you? He knows you have a different light, that you're different. He was never to fall in love, but you made him believe in.

And you continue reading to him, as he gives you his full attecion.

“'And she said, looking into his eyes: “However big, or however small. I just want to be part of this all. I want you to share your dreams with me. Because I don't care if you're right or wrong. Because I know that we can change the world to the one that we see when we close our eyes. The one that we make together. Because, no matter in what world we live… I want to live there with you.’” You read that last verse looking into his eyes, as if the words were for him. And they were.

Tom looks you in the eye and a feeling floods the heart of the two of you, who now beat in the same rhythm. Connected. Slowly, the distance between you is diminishing. You can feel his hesitant breath, and he can smell your sweet lavender scent.

“Y/N?” He calls, without taking his eyes off you.

“Yes?”

“You wanna go in a date with me?” Tom is surprised by his own words. He didn't think what he said, just left his mouth without permission.

You freeze. Is Tom really asking to go on a date with you? Why? What are you special about? Why would he want to date a random, normal, broken girl like you?

You don't want to give yourself hope, but it's too late.

Your heart is filled with joy as you smile wide.

“A-Are you sure? Y-You wanna go in a date with me?”

“Yes. I wanna go in a date with you. Would you give me the honour?”

He says, smiling like a child. You made a mental note of that moment, not wanting to ever forget the expression of happiness Tom had at that moment.

The same thing happened to Tom. He never wanted to forget the big, genuine smile you had now. The most beautiful smile of the most beautiful and kind and good girl he had ever known in his whole life.

You can't think of anything else.

All the pain you felt in the morning, all the anguish and sorrow was nothing compared to what you were feeling right now.

The boy you've been dreaming about for years was really calling you out. For a date. The boy you saw the pictures almost every day on the screen of a cell phone was calling you on a date!

"Good things happen to who is good Y/N. Sometimes it may seem that not, but it is. You just have to believe and never, ever lose hope and that beautiful light that you have inside you. "

You grab your collar and bite your lower lip slightly before saying,

“Yes, Tom. I'll love to go on a date with you.”

It was something new. A new path. A path that you couldn't wait to see what it's was going to end up like.
