Fdb is a researcher aka the one paper-pusher out of the three of them (he writes all the papers). Llh is also a diver and oversees the upkeep of their underwater research facility (he's the one who roped the other two into this) as well as a certified doctor (specifically for marine research-related illnesses, like decompression sickness). for like 3 weeks i was wondering why i was sleeping so much and felt listless. and just now I managed to email 3 people and responded to a month old message in the span of an hour because I got back to TAKING MY FUCKIN MEDS..........

#MOTHER FFFFUCKER #to be fair. my doc said I could stop taking them while im on break since i wouldnt need to be constantly pumped on stimulants #im not sure if it was a side effect but i managed to take like 3 different naps in one day and STILL managed to sleep thru the whole night #at least 2 days into my break. the weird thing is i didnt feel more or less rested afterwards. but mentally i think im in a good place rn #to really put the level of awakeness im at rn i feel weirdly confident i could start one piece. also bc of that sick new opening it BANGS #the song is really good and im in love with the animation style. did some digging and it seems one of the lead animators is masato mori #but i could be wrong. it seems he also did some work on mp100 which could explain a lot lol.. he uses smear frames really well to convey #consistent movement and fluidity!!! someone else might have done color design but it works really really well esp with odas style!! #just love the overall vibe and aesthetic and id really love to study it and incorporate a bit of it into my art.. especially the thick #outlines which i think helps to separate characters and objects on screen. though i have to say the style is definitely more suited to #animation bc of the simpleness and smears. maybe that will help me explore shapes and perspective when i draw... i wanna get better #at drawing poses and angles but i have a hard time wrapping my head around space and using perspective guide lines NGHHHH #i wonder if it has to do with my dogshit ability to judge distance. not depth perception but like. judge how far smth is in metres etc #im also wearing an N95 for the first couple weeks back bc of the wave. absolutely NO BODY is wearing a mask its so fucking over #where im sitting ive heard 5 different people coughing probably not into their elbows!!! and im just. head in my fucking hands #there was a kid sitting a couple seats away in class coughing as he pleases and i wanted to grab him in a chokehold so badly. Sometimes James is half convinced you’re a vampire, that your skin is so delicate that even a pinprick of sunlight will burn you into a pile of ash.

If it weren’t for your ostentatious love of the summer season—and the privilege James has as your best friend—he’d be surprised you even agreed to his request at all.

Yet there you were, sat pretty underneath the shade of one of the small willow trees lining the water with a book in your lap and a picnic blanket separating you from the grass.

Was he a little sad you’d decided not to join the group in splashing around? A little. Was he going to ask you again later with his puppy dog eyes so you couldn’t refuse him? Probably.

But right now he was content with watching how your eyebrows furrowed and left small wrinkles between your eyes as you read a particularly interesting paragraph, and the slight fluttering of your hair against the small breeze.

A sharp splash of water to the back of his head tore James’ attention from watching the way your eyes scanned the pages of your novel with your nose scrunched in a mix of surprise and disgust at whatever was printed in the ink, and he turned around with an exaggerated gesture of annoyance only to be met with another splash straight to his face.

Whilst the icy water was a nice relief from the nearly 30° heat, it was still cold.

“What was that for?” James pulls his glasses from his face to try and wipe the water droplets from the lenses with his thumb, turning Sirius’ face into a blurry pale blob in the process.

“We’re picking teams for a makeshift volleyball game? You’d know that if you stopped gawking over there like a dog in heat,” James can vaguely make out Sirius crossing his arms over his chest, and lo and behold, when he slots his glasses back on, Sirius’ expression is just as smug as he expected it to be.

“I wasn’t ‘gawking’ anywhere you twat,” James sends a splash of water in Sirius’ direction as a retaliation. “I was just appreciating the fact that she actually joined us, that’s all,”

“Appreciating her face you mean,” Sirius’ tone matches his smugness perfectly, and James lets out a short scoff with a roll of his eyes.

“You’re such a dog Pads,”

“You know it,” Sirius shoots James a wink and he pretends to gag. “Seriously though, stop staring so we can play,”

“Orrr,” Marlene wades over to the two to interrupt the conversation, laying her arm over Sirius’ shoulder. “You can go over there and convince her to join us, we’re uneven,”

James shoots another glance in your direction with an uncertain hum. “I don’t think we should disturb her,”

“We can’t play 4 to 3 James,” Marlene tilts her head and shakes it lightly. “So go bat your eyelashes and use your favouritism to get us another player,”

She gives a dismissive wave of her hand and Sirius joins her, James sending the two a very unimpressed look as he drags himself out of the water to speak to you.

It’s not the new source of shade from the sun that informs you of James’s presence, nor is it the sight of him sitting down cross-legged beside you in your peripheral vision. It’s the water droplets that sprinkle the right side of your face and the pages of your book that give him away.

“James—” You let out a low groan to voice your disapproval at him shaking his head like a dog to dry his hair, something that very clearly didn’t work very well as water continued to drip from his curls onto his shoulders, disappearing into the already soaked fabric of his t-shirt.

“Sorry sorry collateral damage I swear,” He throws up his hands in an immediate surrender, and you let out a small scoff with a shake of your head as you pull his glasses from the bridge of his nose to dry them on the hem of your t-shirt.

“Having fun then?” You leave your book on the blanket to shift onto your knees, carefully placing James’ glasses back on his face so they properly catch behind his ears.

James nods with a smile at how gentle your fingers are as they brush the sides of his cheeks when you return them to your lap. “Yeah, we’re about to play a round of volleyball, fancy joining us?”

You scrunch up your nose slightly and he can immediately anticipate your answer. “…no?”

“Awe come on we’re uneven,” James tilts his head as he gestures towards the others in the water, a small pout etched onto his face. “We can’t play 3 to 4 that’s not how it works,”

He blinks at you softly, eyes filled with carefully curated desperation. “Please? We can team up together,” He adds the idea of teaming up like it’s an added bonus to your agreement, his voice sweet, sticky, and absolutely dripping in persuasion.

He looks perfectly pathetic when he looks at you like that, and who are you really to say no to him?

“One game,” Your answer is joined by an exasperated sigh, but James reacts like you’ve just told him all of Severus’ hair has fallen out rather than begrudgingly agreeing to play water volleyball with him.

“Perfect! Let’s go,” James holds out his hand to help you up eagerly, a smile beaming across his face that almost puts the blazing sun to shame in it’s brightness.

You roll your eyes at him, but take his hand nonetheless, and he’s a little too excited in pulling you to your feet as he sends you stumbling forward from his pull, and he uses the momentum to lean down and take the top half of your body over his shoulder, hoisting you off the ground in the process.

You can sense the inevitable immediately.

“Don’t you dare—” You arms wrap tightly around James’ waist as he straightens his posture, his arms secured around your thighs as he walks the two of you towards the lake, suspiciously quiet considering his earlier excitement. “James I swear to god if you do what I think you are going to do I will destroy you,”

You kick your legs the closer you get to the water, although it’s to no real avail compared to the arm strength that is James’ chaser practice, and all it really ends up doing is garnering you an audience as James begins to wade in the water.

“James, you better put me down right now.“ Your warning falls on deaf ears, and your half surprised at the amount of will power he has to keep ignoring you as the water reaches his knees.

“James—“ You barely manage to get his name out before he dive on a you both into the water, it’s icy temperature immediately sending a chill up your spine as you resurface with a gasp, James laughing as he breaks the water himself.

“You absolute twat—” You send a splash of water in James’ direction with an over-exaggerated show of your disapproval, and he blocks it with his forearm, laughter still steadily streaming from his mouth.

Needless to say, you didn’t team with him for the volleyball game.

"are you trying to start something?" jungkook asks as you come padding out of the bathroom into the kitchen, freshly showered, in nothing but one of his big black tees and a pair of house slippers.

your new boyfriend has yet to see you without makeup on, and his sharp tone has you concerned you've done something wrong. "uhhh... do you not like it when i wear your shirts?" you ask him, wide-eyed and terrified.

he moves from his place on his couch to lean against the wall, watching you with an unreadable expression, his arms folded, his tongue absentmindedly playing with his lip ring. he ignores your question. "give me a spin," he finally says, the corner of his mouth just hinting at a smile, and his big eyes lit up with a bit of mischief.

you chuckle awkwardly, giving a small turn before winking at him. you head over to the stove and reach for the teapot, but before you know it, jungkook's hand shoots out and grabs your own, spinning you around.

instantly, your faces are inches apart. "wasn't finished looking at you," he explains, his eyes roaming over your body hungrily.

"you're scaring me," you breathe, only partially joking.

he grins. "sorry, baby," he says, bringing a hand up underneath the shirt you're wearing to rest on your hip. his thumbs brush against the waistband of your underwear, sending shivers down your spine. "you didn't do this on purpose?"

"do what?" you ask him, your heart beating in your throat.

his hand inches a bit higher, squeezing gently at your waist. "you have no clue, do you?" he asks. and his expression is akin to an artist seeing their favorite work in person for the first time -- like his eyes could never get tired of you.

"no clue?" you repeat stupidly. the nearness of jungkook always disorients you a little -- you've yet to learn how to find your regular footing when he gets like this.

but jungkook is an excellent teacher. He pulls you into him gently, wrapping his thick arms around your waist and kissing the crown of your head, your cheeks, your forehead, your nose, and finally your lips, sending an electric jolt through your body like you've just put your finger in a socket. when he pulls away from the kiss, he starts again with attacking your bare face with kisses. you start to giggle as his breath tickles your skin, melting into him and letting him adore you.

"i love it when you wear my shirts," he finally answers before lifting you up into his arms. "but i'd really like to take it off you right now."

and with that, he sprints to the bedroom, with you in his arms, giggling the whole way.

Okay this is a really really niche but I've had this idea for literally ever and my brain won't let me let go of it

So we know that Danny phantom is crossover Central, DC / batfamily crossovers have an inherently different vibe from a lot of the others like in the nicktoons unite sphere which is a whole Canon crossover series with a bunch of Nickelodeon characters and the fandom crossovers with Randy Cunningham the 9th grade Ninja and American dragon Jake Long all of them have an inherently silly vibe to them that the DC crossovers don't have

I also noticed the trend of in a lot of other crossovers Danny is the most tired quote unquote mature serious one of the group which makes sense looking at the characters from the other crossovers but he's usually a petty little shit at Jason with the batfam which again makes sense in context

Which has got me thinking about doing a double crossover, Danny has been jumping dimensions for some times and he's made friends across a lot of them and whatever silly IP you can think of he's been friends with people from that one for a while, and they see him as the serious almost older brother type especially because his hero-ing is pretty intense until one day they see Danny walking through a portal to Gotham and spy on him for a bit to see that he is absolutely a little shit he just doesn't have the luxury of not being the most experienced and mature one of the group so he has to be all serious for like Randy and Jake for example but he regularly gets into prank wars with the robins you know what I mean?

This probably doesn't make sense to most people but my brain had me in a chokehold so I had to talk about it

Queen Maleficent, Mistress of Darkness may be lurking in the back, but I’m seeing her. Now her horns look a little weird right now but I’m gonna wait for the official posters and pictures with better quality before I start to give my full judgement. But like…y’all, she’s Maleficent, when have we ever had a Maleficent who doesn’t serve with looks, darkness, and attitude? Like, girl, come for Ulyana! Pull Hades! I expect you to use magic! I demand at least ONE Dragon transformation! DEMAND it!

Ulyana is the Captain here, jot that down, but Hook is still serving so let’s have a conversation. Looks are clearly a strength in the Hooks family, so what do the girls look like? The men are handsome, so let’s have the girls do some Justice please. His fit almost exactly replicated the cartoon and I love that. The only problem I have is…where’s the hat? The iconic red hat with the big feather? Disney, he better have that hat. Don’t be playing with me.

Morgie…he’s giving kinda Carlos and Gil vibes. That is indeed a compliment. Now is his outfit as extravagant as the others? No. Is it still good and is he still killing the game? Absolutely. These VKs stay with the drip. Who else is looking good in a scarf? I don’t see anyone else wearing one! Now his mother is said to be the Morgana Le Fay in Sofia the First so…Is our dear Princess in the Descendants Universe lol? Is my girl enrolled in Auradon Prep? Is she with Hugo? I’m sorry, I just find this so funny, where is Enchancia on the Auradon map? Watch Morgie reference this in the movie, I just, I can’t!

One thing about villains is they will always be looking good and I will always be wanting to find a way to thrift their clothing. I can’t wait to see these looks with better qualities

Ooh good question - can't see me writing a whole new fic but here's a little Ava and Mary scene with Ava grilling Mary about Bea:

Ava is just going to say it. It's a controversial take and not one she's proud of but she's just going to come right out with it: Mary is a bad friend.

(She's not, at all. She's Ava's best friend in the world and Ava would lay down in the street and die for her but. Still. She feels like being sort of dramatic.)

"Why won't you just tell me?"

Ava is meant to be helping Mary set up the nursery for the baby but since she's mostly useless at DIY she's been relegated to the "holding and passing" side of the operation. It gives her lots of time to ask questions.

"There's nothing to tell," Mary says. She has three screws in her mouth and she's holding up a leg of the unbuilt crib in bafflement. "How the fuck is this thing supposed to fit together?"

"You know her though." The revelation that Mary not only knows Beatrice, the current star of Ava's most elaborate (and dirty) daydreams but is friends with her is almost too much to handle. "You must know something about her. What is she like outside of having really boring taste in coffee? Does she ever wear contacts? Is she into women? That's a stupid question, actually, she's definitely into women."

Mary ignores her and begins screwing two pieces of wood together in a way that looks vaguely crib shaped. Unfortunately, this just means there are no brakes to stop Ava's train of thought from ploughing ahead.

"What movies does she like? I sort of get the vibe she's into really smart, complicated movies but also she's really cool so she'd probably watch Studio Ghibli with me, right? And she likes the X-Files so... wait, what other TV shows is she into? Does she like Buffy? I mean she's queer, so she probably likes Buffy. Is she as fancy as she seems? I mean, would I have to take her to a nice restaurant if I asked her out? I probably would, shit. I don't think I know any nice restaurants, I'll have to ask Hans - "

"Ava."

Mary rubs her forehead. "If I give you her Instagram will you shut the fuck up and help me build this crib for your godchild?"

The distraction works. Ava bubbles over with happiness every single time she remembers this kid is going to be her little goddaughter or godson. She already got the okay from Mary and Shannon to be Aunt Ava.

"Yeah, sorry," she grins sheepishly, looking for the first time at the misshapen monstrosity Mary is building. "...why the hell does the crib have five legs?"

thought this needed to be shared on its own since the sweeney team have decided to edge us with releasing the cast album

this is from the second night of previews, february 28th. i gifted the full audio here, and shared a clip of the final sequence here as well

after the verse about the beadle, annaleigh ashford attempts to swing onto the table and misses twice, before succeeding as the audience cheers. it was really funny in the moment and played into the vibe of the song as both ashford and groban continued to crack up. this seemed to happen on more than one night during previews from what i've read, which had me suspecting that it was a planned break-in a la the music man revival. but outside of previews i haven't heard of this happening again, so they could very well have just had difficulty with this bit during the first few shows. either way, the audience couldn't get enough of it. it was just amazing to hear this whole sequence live after only ever watching the movie and concerts (where the audience volume is significantly reduced). there was just the most contagious laughter at all the right moments, and it makes me really upset in hindsight that this number was butchered so much in the movie

so much to say about ashford and groban's performances in general. they clearly have so much fun with these roles and they do this particular number such justice, in my opinion. their visual comedy is just on a whole other level, and it really let the material shine along with their vocals. some people have criticized ashford for her accent/general characterization of mrs. lovett, but i'm so obsessed with what she's brought to the role. her lovett skews younger and, to me, she offers a mix of the iconic actresses who have taken a stab at the character before. others have had things to say against groban being cast as sweeney, but i personally enjoyed him very much, and he's of course at the top of his game vocally. this production plays things pretty straight and doesn't do anything super imaginative with the staging, but it really lets the actors performances shine

as a general note for the whole show, maria bilbao absolutely kills it as johanna, john rapson as the beadle makes parlor songs into one of my favorite bits of the show, and i want to print a little picture of nicholas christopher's pirelli and keep it in my wallet. gaten mattarazo is a great tobias, ruthie ann miles's beggar woman is as entertaining as she is soul-crushing. though he's since departed, jordan fisher had amazing chemistry with maria bilbao and his anthony was very sweet. jamie jackson as judge turpin was everything you could want out of that character, though i really really would've loved to see mea culpa here. i think the judge in this production especially feels a bit empty without it

this revival makes the weird choice to remove the factory whistle, which really takes away from a lot of the drama and overall makes it feel less sweeney-esque. although, i did read that they were maybe having technical issues during previews and added it back in later? but i watched/listened to some bits after opening and didn't hear it, so... still must be noted

despite some general criticisms i'm just so obsessed with this show, it's amazing to have a full staging of it on broadway once again and the 26-piece orchestra still has me in a chokehold. i highly recommend seeing it if you can!
