Levi’s Expression when he kills Zeke and the misinterpretation surrounding it:
Tumblr media
I constantly see people interpret Levi’s expression when he finally kills Zeke as one of regret, or remorse, or conflict, like he doesn’t know what he should be feeling after wanting to, supposedly, viciously rip him apart.  But I think this interpretation is all wrong.  I think it’s wrong because it supposes that Levi wanted to kill Zeke out of a sense of revenge, and he didn’t.  He never, ever wanted to kill Zeke for revenge.
People go on and on about Levi’s supposed desire to torture Zeke and make him suffer, as if this is proof of Levi’s vengeful motivation, completely ignoring how that’s always been something Levi does, threatening extreme violence  and pain without ever, actually meaning it.  He says similar things to multiple people throughout the series, including Annie, including Pastor Nick, hell, including Erwin and Historia and various others.  Levi talks rough, and he uses threats to try and extort certain, desired reactions.  But Levi isn’t sadistic.  He takes no pleasure in hurting others.  His threats of violence are almost always exaggerated, rarely followed through on, and almost always simply said in the heat of emotion.  In other words, he hardly ever actually means what he says.  That’s his famously poor ability to express himself showing.  Some might cite Levi cutting Zeke’s legs off over and over as some sort of proof of his desire to make Zeke suffer, and that in turn proving some sort of motivating factor behind his desire to kill Zeke, this wish to make him “pay” for what he’s done.  Again, this is wrong.  Yes, in that moment, when Levi is being perhaps overly violent with Zeke, it’s a sense of anger which is driving Levi’s actions.  But again, this needs to be taken in context.
Zeke had just forced Levi into killing thirty of his comrades in order to survive himself, and prevent Zeke’s own escape.  Zeke did to Levi what is possibly the worst and cruelest thing one could do to him, forcing him to kill his fellow soldiers, when Levi’s entire identity is wrapped up in his need to protect and save the lives of his comrades, and to prevent them from dying meaningless deaths.  What could be a more meaningless way to die than that?  To be killed because you’ve been turned, against your will, into man eating monsters?  So Levi was, more than understandably, very pissed at Zeke.  He was acting out of a place of extreme hurt and probably guilt in that moment.  But this one, single instant of Levi torturing Zeke isn’t at all indicative of or representative of Levi’s core reason for wanting to kill Zeke.  It was a singular and extreme incident which spurred Levi into anger here, not his general, overall attitude toward Zeke.  Levi had up until that point kept himself under incredible control, not laying a single finger on Zeke.  He only did so after Zeke inflicted immeasurable emotional and mental harm on Levi.  So, again, this incident isn’t at all representative of the reasons behind Levi’s desire to kill Zeke, or who Levi is as a person.
He didn’t want to kill Zeke out of a need for revenge, and it drives me up a wall that people don’t get this.  Levi wanted to kill Zeke, quite literally, to give meaning to the deaths of his comrades that died specifically to give him the chance to kill him.  He vowed to Erwin that he would kill Zeke, in exchange for Erwin’s death, and the death of the hundred other SC recruits.  With Zeke, until Levi could kill him, then, it means Erwin and the others will have died for nothing.  And anyone who understands ANYTHING about Levi’s character should know what a horrifying prospect that is to him.  Levi even says to Zeke, in the forest, that he has no idea how many of their own they’ve had to kill, and that was Zeke’s mistake in thinking Levi wouldn’t defend himself.  All those soldiers will have been turned into titans, and their lives essentially ended, for nothing, if Levi let Zeke get away in that moment.  It’s a constant weight on Levi’s shoulders, the deaths of all his comrades, and the need to give their death’s meaning and purpose.  He needs to make sure they don’t die for nothing.  In general, this means realizing their dream of a world free of titans and free of the walls.  Realizing a world in which humanity can live freely and without fear.  With the soldiers in Shinganshina, again specifically, it means delivering Zeke’s death.
So, getting back to my initial point about Levi’s expression when he kills Zeke, at last.  The key phrase here is at last.  His expression is one of almost pained shock.  Okay.  His brows are knitted, his eyes are almost stunned, like he’s in disbelief.  People who are Zeke apologists want to interpret this as Levi feeling some kind of remorse or like he’s coming to some sort of realization about his hatred for Zeke, like he never should have hated him or wanted to kill him to begin with, because Zeke was just a poor, misunderstood baby.  This interpretation is wrong, imo, because it completely ignores all the context of what was behind Levi’s drive to kill Zeke in the first place, and especially the moments leading up to him finally executing Erwin’s final order.
Levi’s expression isn’t one of conflict, or remorse.  It’s one of disbelief.  Remember this.  Now let’s recall that in the moments before he finally kills Zeke, Levi is thinking about how he’s not going to be able to do it.  He realizes his physical condition isn’t going to allow him to execute Erwin’s final order, that he’s in no fighting shape and that his chances of actually completing the task at that point are next to none.  He’s obviously deeply regretful about this.  It pains him immensely.  But he’s also accepting of it.  Levi is resigning himself in this moment to not being able to fulfill his vow, to not being able to give the deaths of the soldiers that died that day in Shinganshina meaning.
And then Zeke pops up out of nowhere, waving Levi down and opening himself up to an easy execution shot.  Levi says “You’ve got to be kidding me.” when he sees Zeke.  Again, that’s an expression of disbelief.  He can’t believe that Zeke is just there, waiting to be killed.  After all the struggle and multiple failures on Levi’s part to fulfill this one, final order from Erwin, and after resigning himself to what seemed the obvious fact that he wouldn’t be able to, suddenly he’s being presented with the chance to do it.  Just like that.  And so, of course, Levi takes the shot, and he kills Zeke, and at last, at last, he fulfills the vow he made for all the soldiers that gave their lives that day.
This isn’t Levi coming to some sort of epiphany about Zeke actually being a poor victim or not such a bad guy and feeling regret over killing him because of that.  Levi had no way of even knowing the content of Zeke’s conversation with Armin, or why he was suddenly presenting himself to be killed.  It wouldn’t have mattered to Levi, either way, because he didn’t want to kill Zeke out of hatred or a desire for revenge.  How anyone could think, then, that Levi’s expression has anything to do with regret, or disappointment or remorse, is beyond me.
It’s RELIEF.  The expression we see on Levi’s face is one of relief.  Levi is relieved, because he finally, finally can unburden himself of his vow when he’d been convinced he wouldn’t be able to fulfill it, and give his fallen comrades peace through the vows fulfillment.  He can finally say to them that their deaths had meaning, and it won’t be a lie.
It was the weight of four years of guilt and obligation finally being lifted off his shoulders.  That’s what Levi’s expression means.

Trick or treat! Dealer's choice or a prompt: Finnick and Annie take their son to a pumpkin patch.
ooh okay!! i’ve never gotten a writing prompt before so this was super exciting. thank you, and i hope you like it!
(modern au, troublemaker!annie cresta)
Annie refuses to be a cog in a cold, unforgiving capitalist machine. It’s why she stuffs three teeny-tiny pumpkins under her oversized sweater.
In her defense, Walmart is ridiculously easy to steal from. How is that her fault?
“Got everything, my love?”
Annie nods, loading all the snacks for the car ride into the cart. She’d spend all her money on her son any day of the week, capitalistic cog be damned.
Finnick pays, and Annie schemes. Finnick just took Benny on a bathroom break, so she can check that off her list. What about Benny's favorite skeleton sweater for when the sun goes down? A bottle of water? Apple slices?
Check. Check. Check.
Okay, Annie is done scheming.
Benny is only five, but according to her research, this was the perfect time to form core memories. Why not celebrate his cognitive development by going to a pumpkin patch?
Finnick parks, and Annie is back to scheming. Finnick hoists Benny onto his shoulders so he gets the best view of everything, navigating through booths with apple cider and a pen full of fluffy sheep and an absolute labyrinth of a corn maze.
Check. Check. Check.
Thankfully for Annie, all the pumpkins in the field sucked, anyway, so she watches the tattoo of a dancing skeleton in a tophat ripple on Benny's cheek when she makes the grand pumpkin reveal. He grins at her like she hung the moon. Annie smiles back.
Finnick knows her so well that he doesn’t even ask where she even got all that from. He just helps Annie shake out their picnic blanket and assists her into putting her master plan into motion.
Benny may be Annie's spitting image, all dark curly hair and freckled cheeks, but the careful precision he approaches the pumpkin carving with is all Finnick. She and her husband take turns steadying Benny’s teeny-tiny hands so he can trace a design onto his teeny-tiny pumpkin. Annie takes a moment to observe the two, her heart melting almost as severely as the small tub of ice cream she also smuggled out of the store.
Matching scrunched up eyebrows, an identical wrinkle to their noses. They even have dimples in the same exact places, which becomes increasingly obvious when they take a moment to appreciate their handiwork.
Benny doesn’t question that their weapon of choice is a black sharpie, which is good, because Annie didn’t really know how to explain to him that his cognitive development hasn’t surpassed proper hand-eye coordination, and that this made her really, really nervous about potential cuts and nicks.
Annie models her pumpkin off of Finnick. Finnick doodles on a bunch of hearts, informing her that it’s symbolic of his undying love for her. Benny draws teeth all over his, and then he pretends that it's eating Finnick and Annie’s pumpkins.
“No, I’m just kidding,” he promises, edging his pumpkin away from Annie and Finnick’s for emphasis. “It’s gonna eat all the gummy bears, though, so watch out for that!”
Annie laughs. He is so diabolical.

Prelim Updates & Character List!
First, competing as a team won for all four prelim polls! Everybody's in, together! (For some reason I had a feeling the Naruto poll was a wild question, and with my practically non-existent knowledge figured Kakashi would win, but glad it's funnier this way lol)
Second, I have still neglected to organize the Portal prelims. Whoops. I'll probably figure that out today and post that tomorrow evening (5/1). Relatedly, I also realized I missed one more non-Portal prelim poll, so that'll go up at the same time (it's for Percy Jackson).
Third, uhh you guys probably want the character list huh. Don't know why I didn't do that in my original form is closed update. Here you go!

So, Skin Horse is over. What are your thoughts?
I really enjoyed the comic as a whole, but I have to admit that I feel like the final arc... um, wasn’t the end of Narbonic as far as feeling like the perfect inevitable conclusion of the story is concerned. I kinda kept waiting to see the other shoe drop?
Narbonic is a very simple story
Tumblr media
Dave meets Helen. They slowly hit it off and start dating. It gets out that Helen was keeping a Horrible Secret from Dave, they break up and have a huge fight but ultimately Dave forgives her and they get back together. Spoilers. That's the "steak" of the story. All the cyber gods and moon bases and the like are "sizzle". They heighten the emotional stakes of the story and add some spectacle, but they ultimately don't "matter". The story could have dropped all of that and been a realistic indie movie where the big secret was Helen cheating on Dave or investing all their money in crypto or something, and everything would still work.
What's the steak of Skin Horse. What's the emotional core?
Tumblr media
The comic opens with a quote from The Velveteen Rabbit from the character of the Skin Horse, whom the comic is named after. The quote says that a toy can be brought to life and become Real if a child loves it enough.
Tumblr media
The plot of this final arc is that nonhumans are no longer visible to humans, they're not Real to humans anymore. So there's some connective tissue there, and the finale does end with everyone getting paired off (Unity/Sweetheat, Nick/Victoria, Tip/Tigerlily, Annie/Lovelace), and much like the Velveteen Rabbit they leave the human world behind, even if (unlike the rabbit) they come back later to try to fix it. So the comic is sort of resolving its theme here: The velveteen rabbits aren't Real to humans, who will never accept them, but they are saved by their love in each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then, after learning that Lovetron destroyed its version of humanity, they all decide to work out their own shit and come back to try to make the earth a better place instead of just fleeing to Space Canada. This is Tigerlily's idea and in part motivated by her love for Tip so love saves the human race as well.
And I think the reason Skin Horse's ending feels a little flat to a lot of people is that the thematic elements take a back seat to a big infinity war fight that's sort of at odds with it, such that the nonhumans win the big war and then flee the planet. The themes of "The world may never accept us, but we can accept each other and try to change the world" doesn't really jive with the "We defeated the bad guys easily hooray! But also not really!" battle. There was a lot going on in Skin Horse and it made the core message messy and confusing at times.
Tumblr media
But thematically, it makes sense that Mr. Green is revealed to still be out there, working his way back up. They didn't solve discrimination. They likely never will. There's no satisfying solution to the problem of society hating you, no satisfying ending. You just find people who love you and do what you can for them and try to make things better, one day at a time.

Miss Ivy part 3 Final part
A large knocking on the door made Ivy stand up and head to the door to be greeted by her uncle and father, the two entered the cottage, to meet Aliza and the small girl. “ Hello Humans! I am the great Papyrus” Her uncle introduced himself. Remembering to be a little quieter because human ears can be sensitive.  Aliza gave a wave while the other girl clung to her. Papyrus sniffed the air, his mouth salivating “ Ivy, did you make spaghetti?” Sans’ smile grew wider as Ivy started to speak “ Sort of, I made Iv-ghetti-Spaghetti” to which her uncle made a surprised expression.  His eye sockets went into two small eyeballs Her father laughed and Ivy chuckled. Papyrus, looked over to his brother, as Ivy went to sit down on the small couch. Her bones creaked slightly from her moving. Without warning Papyrus flipped the small couch, and all you heard was a scream from the younger skeleton a small “ Ahh!” and then a large thump from Ivy and the couch hitting the floor. Aliza came rushing to the side, seeing Ivy with a grin “ I’m alright”  She started to laugh, as the top of her skull was cracked a little green goo came out of the crack slowly healing the crack from the bottom up.  Ivy shook her head and it seemed as if nothing had happened. Suddenly the ground around the cottage started to shake as the royal guardsmen surrounded the cottage they broke the door down and rushed in. They grabbed ahold of Aliza and the girl and dragged them out of the house, dragging them through the snow, waterfalls, and hot lands. Taking them to Undyne and throwing them in front of her. Ivy was running, trying desperately to get to them before it was too late, Ivy ran and ran as fast as she could, and she tripped on the bridge, picking herself up she sprained her ankle, but she ran once again to try to get to them ‘ I have to make it. I have to make it before it is too late ‘ was all she thought. She grew weary, as her eyes drooped lower, her breath growing heavier and raspier, Ivy could go between Snowden and Hot Lands without growing tired, even without breaks. But this time she was exhausted. Almost as if someone or something was pulling her down. But still, she tried to push through.  Her nonexistent lungs are on fire, beads of green sweat forming on her face. She made it in the nick of time, Aliza was holding her arms up to protect her and the girl as Undyne was trying to smite them with her spear when Aliza lowered her hands because she grew tired Undyne saw the opportunity, but as Undyne was about to make her final blow Ivy ran in between them and took it instead. So while Ivy was crying softly, holding the girls. The smaller of the two said her name was “ Annie” but After a long time of healing from Papyrus, she was fit to move again, Undyne was overthrown. Ivy gave the rule back to Toriel, she fixed the core all Although it took a long time the underground was back to the way she remembered it. A statue was put up in her honor and after everything, and even if she got dusted she was forever known as Miss Ivy.

So hear me out.
I’m terrible at writing meta posts and things but I’m going to try.
Tumblr media
I honestly think this is such an important scene for Hanji as a character.
Looking back, the first time we see her, it’s having Hanji and Levi taking down titans like it’s nothing. We see her excited to go on another mission. We see her walk Eren to the trial. We see her patch him up after Levi’s kicks. We see her compassion when treating Sawney and Bean. We see her skills in making weapons against titans with the female titan. We see her kindness with Ymir, making sure she got the medical care before anything after the castle. We see her leadership skills when facing off against Bertholdt on the wall. We see her theories come true with where they would have taken Eren, with the weak points in the armour, with where Eren and Historia are... you get it shes full of theories that come from facts and are correct.
We see Hanji formally introduce herself to Historia using a name the girl hadn’t heard in years. We see her shocked face when told she would be the next commander. We see the anger and guilt she felt with Pastor Nick. We see her smiling when watching the cadets get rowdy over the red meat before this mission.
Hanji has core values she sticks too.
And the times that she slips, like the time Moblit tells her she’s got that mad look in her eyes when capturing Annie. When Moblit protects Hanji in the scene with the MPs and Nick. She was blindsided by his death but the moment Moblit comes in to stick up for her she fights back with her little act. When Moblit reminded her about her compassion when doing experiments on Eren’s hardening.
You may have realised my point.
But in this scene. Hanji’s just come back to finish the job. She’s just lost everyone in her squad. She also know Moblit sacrificed himself with one final act of saving hers. She’s angry. She’s upset. She is grieving.
And Reiner is there for her to take it all out on.
But Jean says something to make her stop. It reminds her of her core values. Knowledge. Compassion.
I think here Hanji’s face is so sombre in the last panel. I think she realises if Moblit was here, it would be him saying it. Jean has taken Moblit’s place as her anchor. Keeping her grounded. And it hits her. Moblit isn’t there anymore. She’s changed over the events, yes, but I think losing Moblit has just sunk in during this moment.
I hope this made as much sense in words as it did in my head.

Fallout 4 Random Companion Headcanons
Wrote these a few years ago, too nervous then to share them.
Ada
-Ada was built in 2268. She's about 21 years old.
-Her first memory is of seeing The Mechanist in front of her. Then she watched as The Mechanist removed their head and smiled.
-She's Isabel's first project.
-Her voice was originally supposed to be more synthesized and robotic, but the more human sound was easier for Isabel to work with.
-Ada prefers to travels in groups with 3-4 people, knowing fully well a robot is a higher target for scavvers.
- Her base body was constructed from many different trial runs of the "ADA" project.
-She's programmed to remain indifferent but the nagging voice in her programming says to do good things in order to to aid other people.
-Ada appreciates the effort Sole goes through to upgrade her body. She doesn't think it's necessary and she's somewhat sentimental about her original form.
-She finds Codsworth's attachment to Sole strange. Almost too human, those Mr. Handy's.
Cait
-Cait loves baths. Bubble baths with bath bombs and even a little rubber ducky. Only Sole knows this.
-The rubber ducky's name is Codsworth. Will not explain why.
-Can fire a rifle over her shoulder behind her. (Annie Oakley style)
-Hates Jazz music. Says it's too slow and calm. Really dislikes it because she's uncomfortable slow dancing with anyone.
-Allergic to feathers. Rad chickens make her sick to be around.
-But once the feathers are removed, the chicken has been cut up, and cooked with some veggies and a loaf of bread, loves it.
-Chicken soup is her favourite dish. Only likes Sole's chicken soup though. Will not eat anyone else’s.
-Shot put would be her favourite sport. Throwing a heavy metal sphere a very long distance is goals.
Codsworth
-Codsworth can speak 8 languages. Including: English, Spanish, French, Japanese, German, Italian, Polish, and Swedish.
-Can recognize almost every written language and translate but lacks the programming to speak every one.
-Nate/Nora got him two years before Shaun was born.
-Sole did minimal repair work on him, and offered to polish him every time he got a dent or scratch.
-He always accepted the polish offer. Very wary of Sole doing factory repairs on him. Would prefer professionals doing the delicate work.
-Always celebrated Nate/Nora and Sole’s respective birthdays. For 200 years.
-When Sole called him "Family", he felt an odd electric pulse through his core processor. He decided to call it a skipped heart beat.
-Calls synth Shaun "Sonny", and "Young Master Shaun".
-Makes Sole's favourite meal when they come back home from Vault 111.
-Will ask to take over if he catches Sole doing chores.
-Hesitates when he has to bring up Sole's spouse knowing it's a touchy subject.
-His favourite friend of Sole's is Nick. Thinks Nick is a good role model for synth Shaun.
Curie
-Curie, like Codsworth can speak 8 languages. However, after becoming a synth, she can only speak about 4.
-Curie loves the feeling of velvet. Collects pieces of velvet clothing.
-Once wore a velvet cape around because she loved the way it draped over her shoulders and fluttered when she walked.
-Has sensory phases. Music, nice noises, soft materials, different foods, perfumes, etc. Collects whatever makes her senses happy.
-During the "feeling phase" her favourite feeling was holding Sole's hand. Loved running her hand over the surface of water. And velvet.
-Talks out what her feelings are with Piper. Piper explains to her what the "spin spin spin" in her head meant.
-Favourite smell is fresh baked bread. Bakes bread with Mama Murphy every weekend.
-Favourite sweet food is mutfruit pie. Will badger Piper to make it with her.
-Curie's motor functions are still new. Sometimes she misses what she was trying to grab and fumbles.
Danse
-Danse is a horrid mechanic. You'd think spending time in the BoS and dedicating time to auto repair with Ingram. Can't put a toaster together.
-But Power Armor is a piece of cake. Can't do much with pre-war tech, yet fixing power armor is as easy as making breakfast.
-Like all gen 3 synths, he loves Fancy Lad snack cakes. He'd share whatever box he'd find with the squires around the Prydwen.
-Scribe Haylen would volunteer to work alongside Danse on all his scouting missions.
-Danse found out Deacon was the one who stuck the dildo to his power armor. He made sure Deacon's wigs were the same bright purple color the very next day.
-Loves country music. When a traveling courier stops by and shares their western/country music, he actually dances.
-Has a heart for kids. Even Billy.
-Leg bouncing habit. Can't bounce his leg in power armor but as soon as he's out, his leg's jittering.
Deacon
-Deacon is in his late 40's.
-Did not lie about his wife and the University Point Deathclaws.
-Enjoys learning about Pre-war culture, spends free time with ghouls asking them about the past.
-Sole can fool him easily about prewar facts though.
-Has incredible luck with the pie claw game. Has won 8 times while traveling with Sole.
-Loves making silly bets. "I bet I can skip this plate across the lake at least 1 time." Proceeds to throw the plate at the water horizontally.
-Doesn't hate Danse. He will pull pranks on him though. Once stuck a dildo on the back of Danse's power armour.
-His hair grows quickly so he has to shave every day.
-Shaves his head, isn't bald. Shaved head works better with his pompadour wig.
-Doesn't like mutfruit. Says it's too acidic and hurts his gums.
-Has a rifle-shaped scar on his forearm. Will tell a different story for it every time.
-Once drank a dozen Nuka Cola Quantums on a dare. His pee glowed for a week.
-Tried going vegetarian once. ONCE. Found out being vegetarian means eating no meat or dairy products. Had to have Sole explain that, while gross, radroach could technically be  considered meat.
-Is kinda clumsy. Always bumps into counter edges and stubs his toes on bits of debris.
-Doesn't lie about his family. And when Sole calls him family, promises to never lie about family again.
Gage
-Gage juggled skii balls to entertain the last Overboss, Colter.
-He enjoys small shooting competitions with MacCready, Sole, and X6. All four are sharp shooters.
-Fastest learner. Spent an entire week learning how to cook Sole's old recipes. He can cook them better than anyone with the exception of Codsworth.
-Hums when he works.
-Had a one night stand with Nisha. Ended so bad, he avoids that area of the park at all costs.
-Hates cats. Had an awful run in with a rad lion. Radiated Mountain Lion that tore a scar deep down his back.
-Does routine maintenance on the rides in the park. He knows how everything works there. From social hierarchy - to the intricacies of the Vault Tec: Among the Stars ride.
-His favourite flavour of Nuka Cola is Nuka Cola Victory. Rare to find but easily the best.
-Record farthest shot is a bean can from 410 meters.
-He's a lightweight. Only two beers and he's buzzed enough to sing along with Red-Eye.
-Will tell a different story every time if anyone asks about the eye patch.
Hancock
-Hancock is a history buff. Loves learning about colonial era civilization.
-Has spent days with Kent Connolly researching Silver Shroud information. He knows more about the Silver Shroud than any other companion.
-Has had a fling with every person in Goodneighbor at least once. Even Kleo.
-At least in a sexual way, he is extremely open minded. Welcomes new experiences and new information given anywhere anytime.
-Had a decent childhood with his brother. He remembers tending to the mutfruit trees with him and eating every other piece they picked.
-Adores pickles. Would sit and eat an entire jar of pickles just because he loves the cronch so much.
-All time favourite chem is Mentats. Loves making intellectual jokes while high as a kite.
-Does not know what a lot of pre-war expressions mean, but enjoys saying them and hearing them from Sole.
-Is a master at repairing clothing. How else does the frock stay in such good condition? He tends to it every night.
-As far as euphemisms for ghouls go, he likes "beef jerky".
Longfellow
-Longfellow met Hannah while out hunting. She blasted a trapper's head clean off, and he fell harder than the trapper's body.
-He spent his youth training, hoping to become a Brotherhood soldier one day.
-And then he met a vertibird full of them. They called Far Harbor a dump while gathering supplies there. Officially decided to cease all training.
-Managed to take down 17 Mirelurks in 3 minutes.
-Holds the record in Acadia for alcohol consumption. All records involving alcohol consumption.
-He's really fit? Longfellow could and has bench pressed Sole.
-He only did so because Hancock and MacCready wouldn't shut up about it.
-Loves singing old shanty songs and dancing with Sole. Only when no one else is around though.
-After the events at Far Harbor, he decides to go sailing along the coast. Wants to see the world more.
MacCready
-MacCready does brush his teeth. He brushes his teeth regularly. He started brushing after he left Little Lamplight. By that point the damage was already done.
-Lucy was the one to convince him to brush his teeth.
-He can't stand the smell of lavender. Lavender candles, lavender lotion, etc...makes him feel  nauseous.
-He named his sniper rifle, "Lucy"
-Won't drink brahmin milk with cereal even to Sole's encouragement.
-Is very well read. Vault 87 had many educational textbooks hidden among the super mutants.
-MacCready was the longest lasting mayor in L.L. He was mayor for 6 years.
-He has no idea what television is and is afraid to ask any pre-wars about it.
-Wary of all ghouls, both feral and normal. He's not bias to non-ferals, but he is a little uncomfortable.
-Had a crush on Lone Wanderer when they first visited L.L. Mac told Joseph and he made fun of him.
Nick
-Nick has an oral fixation. Smokes out of habit and having the familiar feeling of a cigarette between his lips feeds into human nostalgia.
-His right hand is missing skin because he fidgets only his right. Whether it was picking at the fraying plastic or rubbing the fake skin raw.
-He lost the chunk of neck skin after Myrna accused him of working for the Institute. Tore off a chunk to prove he wasn't a perfect person or an infiltrator synth.
-Ellie was the first person in Diamond City to wholly accept Nick as he is. She asked to work with him as soon as he decided to stay.
-Piper and Nick have jam sessions where they have heavy debates about Diamond City law enforcement and criminal misuse of power in the capitalistic society of pre-war USA.
-Met Dogmeat under an overpass. He handed the dog a snack cake and scratched his head. They've been close pals ever since.
-Will "sleep" around Sole. He'll lay down and manually put himself into "sleep mode". Any unnecessary functions will shut down. He lets his thoughts take over. All Sole hears is the faintest fan whir.
Piper
-Piper plans Sole's 211th birthday. She goes all out, collects balloons, bakes several cakes with Codsworth, makes everyone attend and threatens anyone who would act up. "It's Blue's first birthday out here, you WILL behave!"
-Knows how to make mutfruit preserves, mutfruit pie, mutfruit jam and jelly. Makes it for Nat constantly.
-Has a notebook dedicated to little tidbits of info about Sole.
-Nat is exactly 8 years, 5 months, and 25 days younger than Piper.
-Piper has interviewed every person in Diamond City. Made a game of it with Nat at first, then she just kept going with it.
-Piper has awful shorthand. Almost as bad as Curie's shorthand. Still illegible.
-Piper's handwriting is so bad, Nat does the writing for the paper. Piper writes the final draft and Nat copies it, and sends it through the printing press.
-Despite bad handwriting, Piper is very eloquent. Can make a super mutant sound like good date idea or convince anyone how the mayor might actually be a synth.
-Her favourite of Sole's friends is Kent Connolly. Would gladly dress up and act out Silver Shroud episodes with him and Sole.
Preston
-Preston has insomnia. Cannot sleep well. Has had insomnia since Quincy.
-Can sleep well if he's sleeping beside someone.
-Has a box under his bed of little knick-knacks children have given him over the years. Can't bear to get rid of the kid's gifts.
-He actually likes all of Sole's friends. Even Strong.
-Hates coconut. Once found an Almond-Joy while scaving and couldn't finish it to save his life.
-All time favourite candy is Peanut Brittle. Hard to find but gnawing on the hard chunks is somewhat soothing to him.
-Loves back rubs. Giving and receiving but only from close friends or lovers.
-Once accidently drank a bottle of perfume. MacCready told him it was a bottle of fancy expensive wine.
-Sturges and Preston are the closest of friends, no less maybe more.
Strong
-Strong knows how to jump rope.
-But double dutch is a mystery.
-Before Sole, he only ate meat raw. Sole taught him how to cook it.
-Also lacks patience to cook, but slowly learning.
-Strong was created in Vault 87 after the bombs dropped but remembers nothing from being human.
-Doesn't understand bubblegum. Will always swallow it after a few seconds of chewing.
-Likes having poetry and plays read to him.
-Sleeps holding Sole or having Sole laying across his stomach.
-Loves fire. The smell, the feeling of heat against his hardened skin, the taste of charred meat, and watching the embers fly up and turn to ash.
-Strong can read, but chooses not to because super mutants discourage any educational behavior.
-Likes the sound of clacking keys on a terminal. He'll turn one on and mess around with the keyboard just to hear the different sounds each key makes.
-He can't decide if hand-to-hand combat is better than using guns.
X6-88
-X6 doesn't like using plasma. He thinks the plasma is less accurate.
-But laser weapons are his jam.
-Spends excessive amount of time augmenting his weapon.
-If Sole helped, he would be "happy". Would never say it, but a tiny smirk would pop up on his face for half a second.
-Will collect Fancy Lad Snack Cakes. Hoards them in his bedroom in Sanctuary and in the Institute.
-Sole found his stash and X6 blushed for the first time when they confronted him.
-He called Sole "Mom" instead of Ma'am once. She won't let him live it down.
-He called Sole "Dad" after hearing Shaun call him "Dad" all day. He won't let him live it down.
-Actually likes kids. Won't show emotions, get down to their level, or speak to kids. But he doesn't hate children.
-Especially likes synth Shaun. He taught synth Shaun how to use a laser pistol. Shaun found out and put X6 on probation for a month.
Bonus Vault Tec Rep and Kent Connolly under the cut.
Vault Tec Rep
-Rep spent a couple decades learning how to draw. Loves drawing from life. Mostly draws people. Occasionally draws ferals, mutants, and various animals.
-Was engaged before the war, lasted about 2 years before she died of cancer.
-His favorite food was and still is a well grilled medium rare steak.
-A total neat freak. Every space he uses as a homestead has to be thoroughly cleaned of any bacteria, ticks, dust, dirt, radiation residue, etc
-Teased in school for his red hair. "Rusty" was his least favorite nickname.
-He's extremely susceptible to pet names. Doesn't have to be anything sexual or romantic, just pet names. He blushes like a starstruck starlet.
-Loves love. Romance and old-timey corny love stories. He like to woo his partner. Flowers, chocolate, dancing, movie dates, hand written poems, you name it.
-He misses his old red hair. Years of being a brunette and he's a little bitter about his hair.
-Least favourite part of The Wasteland is amount of bodies he sees on a daily basis. He saw about zero bodies a day on average before the war. Even in Goodneighbor, the average has risen to about 4 bodies a week.
-Favourite part of The Wasteland is the ability to just go anywhere. After realizing he didn't have any obligation to stay any specific place, he just traveled around for a few decades.
-His father worked for Vault-Tec, and when he graduated high school, he was given a job immediately.
-Didn't hate it. Didn't love it at first, but he had a real knack for selling.
-He never had an office in Boston HQ. He got the van, and got a sweet bonus for being top salesman, but never his own office.
-Despite being top salesman, he was only allowed on the first and second floors. He didn't find out till after the bombs dropped that the basement and third floor up had the plans for the various vaults in the area.
-He can't apologize enough to Sole. After thinking on it and checking out vault 111 by himself, he truly feels sorry for what happened.
-Sole gets him a set of steak knives for Christmas. They're homemade by Sole. They tell him he's earned far more than a knife set, but if that's what he's pining for...
-He treasures it so much, he rarely uses them. Just before he leaves for work in the morning, he checks them over and admires them.
-He and Sole have spent days just telling each other pre war stories. He almost knows more about Sole than Piper does. And he's a little proud of that fact.
-He gets along best with, of all people, Deacon. Good sense of humour and always interested in pre-war info.
-Second best is Piper. A nice lady who snoops too much, but does treat everyone with respect and tries to remain unbiased.
Kent Connolly
-Kent was 23 when the bombs dropped.
-He was sleeping in on the Saturday morning when he heard the air raid sirens.
-Hid in his house's basement till the sirens stopped.
-And then the radiation sickness took over.
-It took him about 3 months to turn ghoulish. Quicker than most.
-He dislikes Goodneighbor - the town as a whole. The people are fine, the resources are serviceable, and the safety assured is nice. But he hates how back alley it feels.
-Misses his family the most. They weren't the best, but they made him feel loved and important.
-Speaking of which, Kent had a huge family. I'm talking brothers, sisters, cousins for days, aunts, uncles...he remembers family reunions as huge gatherings chock full of food and kids running amuck.
-Maybe, just maybe, he enjoys seeing Sole all dressed like Shroud a little too much. He's a big fan.
-Once spent 4 grand on a mint condition Issue no. 3 Silver Shroud comic just to find out it was a forgery. Never got that refund. :(
-Writes really well. But only writes Silver Shroud fanfiction. Piper almost convinced him to help write an article about how crime differed before the war and after the war. But he turned her down.
-Nick has agreed to dress up as Shroud if Sole dresses up like Grognak or Mistress of Mystery. But only if Sole dresses up too.
-Irma refers to him as her son. Amari will not say the same, but she also doesn't protest.
-He used to work in comic book shop. (Of course he did.)
-He writes self insert Silver Shroud fanfiction all the time. After the events at the hospital with Sinjin, the Shroud in his fanfictions suddenly start using Sole's pronouns and is described as physically similar as Sole.

Run Away from Me: A Levi Meta
The core of this meta is to show that, IMHO, Levi’s violence against Historia in Chapter 56 is his emotional fallout from the torture of Sannes, as well as his own guilt at the person he had become. Coming from having only watched the anime, I personally found this placement in the manga of the Historia scene right after both the torture sequence and the Reeves Company alliance as incredibly meaningful, especially for Levi’s character and his emotional journey.
Tumblr media
Levi is an immensely compassionate person, someone who wants to aspire to the “unimaginably altruistic” life of Erwin Smith (Isayama, SNK Encyclopedia). So how would this torture he had to inflict affect him? Because imagine for a second: This is the man who was the only one to truly react with horror and sadness at the knowledge that they’d been killing human beings all this time when they fought Titans. This is the man who went out of his way to ally with the Reeves Company in order to answer the Trost townspeople’s woes:
Tumblr media
In Chapter 53, Levi is confronted with blatantly disrespectful Trost merchants who think the Survey Corps haven’t done enough to save their town. It’s the everyday things that burden these people—taxes, thieves, putting food on the table. Levi doesn’t once shoot back at them for their criticism. Instead, he listens. And then he spots a woman at the side of a merchant’s stall. She’s holding a baby and her eyes burn into Levi’s. She holds his attention while above him, the merchants continue their tirade. I think Levi’s thinking of his mother here: like this woman, she was a single parent raising a child in a city that is not unlike Trost now, a town abandoned and forgotten by society, poor and struggling. That child reminds Levi of himself, and this time, Levi can do something about it.
Tumblr media
This is why Levi goes out of his way to ally with the Reeves Company. Levi and Dimo share a long, deep conversation, demonstrating that Levi’s alliance with them is more personal than merely the company’s strategic value. Dimo Reeves called Levi an “awkward yet kind man.” He goes on the say that Levi will “protect us and the barely-alive District of Trost, even though he doesn’t really have to.” This is Levi answering that townsperson’s accusation that “you in the Survey Corps aren’t working hard enough.” Levi entrusts to the Reeves Company the responsibility to bring the town out of poverty in the new world the SC will create. That’s his compassion, that’s his care, that’s his humility. That’s how he values the lives of people, not just by defeating Titans, but valuing their livelihoods. “A man like that must have come from absolutely nothing,” concludes Dimo.
Tumblr media
This is the same Levi we find torturing Sannes.
In Chapter 55, the torture of Sannes happens because of the horrors Hange saw inflicted on Minister Nick. It is Hange’s passion for avenging Nick that drives the torture sequence, their anger at the tortures that had happened under the MP’s First Squad that motivates the payback inflicted by Hange and Levi. Levi’s violence is done, not out of his own desire, but primarily Hange’s. This is not to say that Levi was guiltless or without responsibility for Sannes’s torture; on the contrary, his actions weigh heavily on him, as will be discussed. But it’s interesting to note that out of all the tortures they did, breaking Sannes’ nose was the only retribution all Levi’s own (in reaction to Sannes’ justification of a series of horrific things the MPs had committed).
Tumblr media
I also find it relevant that after everything they had done to Sannes, Levi was still visibly shocked at Hange’s overreaction to Sannes’ hesitation to answer their first real question. Because in Levi’s mind, everything they had done up to that point wasn’t torture—in one sense. It was instead a like-for-like payback for the horrors Sannes had inflicted on Nick. Note that it was Levi who had to pull Hange out of the emotional distraction of Nick’s death in Chapter 52, the same emotional distraction that drives Hange to overzealous violence here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s an interesting parallel in what happens next with what Levi had gone through with Annie earlier. Levi threatened Annie with torture of her real body and said he enjoyed intimidating her as she was bound and trapped. Sannes confessed that for him, he enjoyed violence and tormenting the helpless—so why should he complain if these torturers, Hange and Levi, are the same as him? It’s a subtle parallel, but it’s a relevant theme in SNK that everyone, on all sides, are devils and monsters. Or as Sannes says later, “The world will always have people like us.” People who are violent, people who are lunatics, people who condemn themselves and get their hands dirty for the sake of some higher “good.” Sannes’ accusation isn’t lost on Levi, because this is the same Levi who looked at a struggling mother in a forsaken city and did something about it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Justified violence is still violence. So what if Annie deserved to have her limbs cut off, time and time again, without relief of death? So what if Sannes deserves to have his fingernails torn off, one by one, without even a question put to him? They had, after all, inflicted death and untold horrors on innocent people. But does justice look like this? Does the name of justice absolve your hands from actions this ugly?
Morality is complicated. And Levi is the first to tell you that he doesn’t know how to slice it. “I’m not telling you what’s right or wrong. I certainly don’t know what is” (Chapter 59).
So now in Chapter 56, we come to the scene with Historia, right on the heels of that torture. The first red flag for me went up when Levi realizes he has “forgotten” to tell his squad about Historia’s true bloodline. It’s not that he didn’t intend to tell them, it’s not that he was not supposed to tell them. (Unlike, say, the entire Female Titan arc.) He forgot, and he’s clearly embarrassed when they confront him. Why? Because he’s not supposed to lose focus like that. But he did, because that information came from Sannes, and after that horrendous experience, Levi, like Hange before him, was emotionally distracted. That’s the only reason I can figure for Isayama focusing on Levi’s oversight like this, and showing Levi in such an obviously emotionally awkward place.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hange isn’t here to translate for Levi, like she did when Levi berated Eren for being unable to harden during the experiments in Chapter 53. Levi takes the scenic, colorful route when explaining his feelings. To Eren, he admitted that his criticism wasn’t about blaming Eren for being unable to harden, stating that “going over our shortcomings and bitching about our situation is an important ritual.”
In this light, we can read Levi’s words and actions with Historia as a complicated picture of his psychological landscape. Notice how just prior to this scene, we saw Hange act out the aftermath of the torture by kicking the table. Levi too reacts, taking it out on Historia.
Imagine where Levi is right now. He’s taken on the role of Sannes in this new world—the executioner, the ultimate killer, Humanity’s Strongest. “Your hands are already dirty. You can’t go back to the way you were,” Levi tells Armin later, but it’s also what he believes about himself. All that idealism that brought him into the Survey Corps—a life bigger than being a thug in the underworld. Did all that idealism bring him here, to do this? He has to make it worth it, he has to make it count for something. It’s what he does every day when his soldiers die under him—he’s been there to make their deaths worthwhile. But who’s there to make the deaths and terrors he’s dealt out worthwhile for him?
Tumblr media
Levi’s expression in the last panel is angry, yes, but also wracked with pain.
So when Historia says she’s unfit for the role of Queen, when she says she can’t be Queen because she’s not good enough, Levi snaps. “Then run,” he said, grabbing her. “Run away from us as fast as you can. Because we’re going to do anything and everything to make you do what we want.” Levi’s eyes are downcast, not looking at her, because what he’s saying is more about him than it is about her.
Tumblr media
Because he knows he’s dark enough to follow those orders to do the worst things to a human being to make the entire world a better place. He knows it’s in his bones to commit these atrocities. He is afraid of what he found he’s capable of. He’s already come to terms with killing humans as Titans. He’s come to terms with torturing humans as humans. He knows he can and will do horrible, unforgivable things. That’s his strength, that’s what makes him valuable, useful, important. He’s not like other people—“I’m abnormal… probably because I’ve seen far too many abnormal things.” But he’s ready to condemn himself, to make his hands dirty for the sake of others. He’s decided he has to go full through with the darkness he’s committed, because how else can he justify what he’s done? “I’m fine playing the role of the lunatic who kills people like that. I have to be ready to rearrange some faces. Because I choose the hell of humans killing each other over the hell of being eaten. At least that way… all of humanity doesn’t have to be damned.” His are the hands that will be stained with blood, his is the conscience that will be stained, his is the soul that will sink to hell—all so that others’ innocence can be spared.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The 104th look at him like he’s gone mad, abusing a young, helpless girl like that. But they haven’t seen what he had to do. They haven’t seen how bloody his hands have gotten. His violence here is a desperate reaction to get someone to save him. He’s always been able to avenge the deaths of his soldiers. But this time, he is the one in need of redemption. He could not justify his violence completely, he could only plea for her to make them unnecessary in the future. By becoming Queen, it means he won’t have to keep torturing, keep killing, keep shedding human blood. Her becoming Queen means a peaceful transition of power. Her becoming Queen means he won’t have to pave the path to a new government with more blood and more guilt, at least, not more than he has to. He’s enslaved to doing what his strength allows him to do. He’s begging her to not let people ask that of him.

Hiii, if you are still answering this!
🍓🍓🍓 for Laila, Cameron and Niyaz! 💕
HEYY this is so late but i am FINALLY answering <3 TY FOR SENDING THIS INNN !!! (under the cut cause it's a little long)
laila!
as much as they like annie and cass, they REALLY want a labradoodle. nick points out how they look similar and laila is unimpressed.
can eat an impressive amount of frozen paratha... it's not the same as homemade fresh ones, but they genuinely like the taste!
and on that note... nick took over most of the cooking when the their parents left, and when he was good at it, laila never bothered to learn how to do it herself, so she really isn't very good at it. their diet when nick is on away-missions is mostly rice and something easy to cook !!
cameron!
dresses to impress, and expects it of everyone else. while cameron doesn't care how your personality comes off as (if you're blunt, rude, quiet, etc), he does care if you're the worst dressed in the room
TERRIBLE EYESIGHT ... those glasses are not for show ... if he loses them he might as well leave the show because his depth perception would leave him knocking into everything
cam touched up their hair dye so the dark roots blends with their already dyed hair, rather than bleach it all blonde again!
niyaz!
enjoys sharing and gifting things: if they have food in hand, they're already offering some. if a friend mentions they like a certain perfume or tea, they go buy some.
"if i run and leap at general d, they will most certainly catch me in their arms"
death of the sun as their affinity and the eclipse they saw during the coronation LITERALLY was a core memory... they spend so long agonising over their position as crown and responsibily and niyaz was (still is) fixated on their eyes. they used to rub at them a lot like that might make them turn back to their brown, and seeing the eclipse reflect their eyes was incredible
(to better illustrate what i mean visually with that last point, here's a comic of it i never posted!)

community characters as osemanverse characters
i don't know if there is much overlap between these two fandoms, but i've noticed some similarities between some community characters and those from some of alice oseman's books, so here are my thoughts on who would be who (for simplicity and as i haven't thought about this loads, i'll just include the characters i see the most similarities between):
heartstopper
abed: charlie
troy: nick
annie: tara
britta: darcy
heartstopper's main love story is very similar to what i view trobed's as: a friends to lovers romance where one character is open about their sexuality while the other is still figuring it out. they love and support each other and one is able to truly be themself about the other; something they could rarely do before they became friends. also, they have the same introvert/extrovert and slight jock/nerd (with the jock not being a stereotype and the nerd still being somewhat sporty) dynamics.
annie is tara, because if community had a heartstopper au, she would definitely be the supportive lesbian who offers advice to the boy she had a comphet crush on when she was younger before become a core part of their friend group. and britta is her blonde, chaotic girlfriend. (plus, i can fully imagine darcy doing the 'pizza pizza, go in tummy' chant whenever she sees pizza.)
i was born for this
abed: jimmy
troy: lister
annie: rowan
i think this works especially well because they literally have the same myers briggs types! (intp, enfp and isfj respectively.) annie and rowan are both mom friends, and i think the others fit as well. i can definitely imagine if trobedison became famous, fans would be most likely to have crushes on troy, and i can imagine them shipping annie and abed while troy is quietly but endlessly frustrated by this as he pines after abed.
britta could also be bliss in this au, as bliss does remind me of how britta is in season 1, and her being the only person to not care about the band's fame while dating annie would make sense.
if i thought more about it, i could probably see how some other characters could be included in these aus, but this is all i have right now. i hope this made sense to at least someone, but if not, maybe i've encouraged you to watch community or read alice oseman's books (whichever one you're not familiar with), which i would highly recommend because community is my comfort show (as you can probably tell from my blog) and alice is my favourite author!

what do you think was the symbolism of the "they like you on red" line? i didn't really get that part but saw someone saying that "it was a nice touch". i just thought it meant that women liked beth in red and nothing else but i guess i was wrong.
Tumblr media
Hi hi! I think it's one of those lines that can mean whatever you want it to mean, anons, but there's definitely a lot that can be read into it as cinema has what we tend to call a 'colour language'. In that, colours have certain meanings that years of visual storytelling has effectively canonised, and it means that shows and movies use those colours to tell us things about the characters, themes, relationships and story overall.
There's a really good, short, introductory article about it here on No Film School, and I'd really recommend watching the video there too as it's a lot of fun, but for the colour red, it boils down to this:
RED – anger, passion, rage, desire, excitement, energy, speed, strength, power, heat, love, aggression, danger, fire, blood, war, violence
All of the core six characters have worn red at varying points in the series, and I'd say it has a different meaning in each of the characters. For Ruby and Stan for instance, they very frequently wear red at the same time, which, in my reading, gives those scenes a strong thematic throughline of strength, unity and love and shows them as partners in their relationship.
Beth's relationship with the colour red though is, I think, a really defined one across the series, and the show drawing attention to it through that exchange with Beth and Nick was interesting, because it was rooted in Nick trying to control Beth's image, and Beth rebuking that by saying she doesn't wear red, which is a lie. Red is probably the colour she wears third most after black and blue, and it's a colour that's had significance for her since the start.
Namely, it's a colour heavily associated with Beth's relationship to power – both the loss and the gain of it, and frequently as a one-two punch in the same sequence.
As the series has progressed, it's gotten more nuanced with how it utilises red on Beth, moving from feature to trimmings as her wardrobe increasingly darkens as she further emulates Rio, but it's meaning I think is fundamentally the same. Beth has a complicated relationship with power, and that's realised through the way she wears red.
This has actually been there since 1.02, and has been a regular touchstone, so hey, let's take a look at that a bit:
Tumblr media
In s1, the colour is much more the focal point because I think Beth's relationship to power was a lot simpler. She either had some, or she had none, and so the boldness of the red was really about encapsulating these moments when she felt powerful or powerless. We see that I think especially in the scenes where she's both – like how Rio's arrival in both 1.02 and 1.07 shifts the balance away from her.
In a lot of ways, s2 is an extension of that dynamic, but as the power plays between Beth, Rio, Turner and Dean all escalate, the use of red in the costume team is even more defined. This becomes particularly clear in moments like 2.03 when Beth gets the key from Rio, the entirety of 2.04 where the pendulum swings between her and Rio and her and Dean, and especially in 2.10, where Beth wears red almost the entire episode. Notably, it's an episode where she has almost no power at all, and she chafes against that until her showdown with Turner at the end of the episode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
S3 meanwhile massively pulls back on the red. It features in a few pivotal moments, particularly in the middle of the season, but otherwise is pretty absent from Beth's wardrobe overall. Again though, the outfits that incorporate red are tied to not just power, but control as well. Her red floral sweater in 3.01 is something she wears across the episode as she tries to build her operation and, successfully, maintain the balance in her life, and when the colour comes back into her wardrobe in 3.07 and 3.08, it's when she's starting to regain a degree of control.
Tumblr media
And then s4! Red's back! And interestingly, with the exception of the dream sequence, it's always paired with black – with black as a base colour, a blazer, or the pyjamas underneath her robe.
Tumblr media
Red in s4 I think evolves to not just be about power, but the way the line has blurred between the personal and the public, the criminal and the domestic. The maroon robe in particular is frequently worn by Beth at really pivotal moments where this happens – when she thinks she's about to be arrested only for Dean to be, when Rio delivers her the new plates, when she finds out Annie's been kidnapped, when Rio returns to her what he stole.
This blurring of lines is more than just the blurring of these spaces, it's the blurring of how one impacts her power in the other. Her getting rid of the Canadian money professionally led to a loss of power in her personal life by Rio taking Annie, just like how her personal conflict with Stan led to her leaning into her personal power over Phoebe to get the fake cash back for Rio, which in return led to him giving her more professional power again with the plates.
Red is a power colour, and it's considered one as much in real life as it is in cinematic language, and it's one the show often leans into (gosh, even look at Beth and Stan's fight in 4.09 where he's wearing red as he holds the power, and Beth black with only the smallest trimmings of it as she loses it).
The scene with Nick and Beth, like I said above, was sort of encapsulating all of this. Nick wants Beth to dress a certain way as a means to demonstrate his own influence (even if he does it through the constituents), and Beth balks because she doesn't like being told what to do anymore. I think it can be read just on that level, but I think the show has consciously and purposefully built a thematic narrative for Beth through the colour red too, and I think that's pretty fun to pick apart, especially given she, in true Beth form, rebels and wears pink instead.

Honestly the reason last night’s episode was so good was because they focused on the core characters. We had fun scenes between Beth and Ben, had Sarah and Stan together in a few, Ruby and Beth hugging and bonding alone together, Annie and Beth acting like sisters, even Dean and Stan together. They didn’t waste time on background story lines like Kevin, donor families, hit men, Tyler getting a full blown montage, etc. No, they spent quality time building out the main storyline focusing on the core characters of the show and throwing in other characters (Terry, Nick) ONLY as support of that.
Sometimes I feel like people (writers? Show runners? Fanbase ? I’m not sure) think that folks only like episodes with good Brio content, and I always hear things like “it’s supposed to be about the girls.” But in reality, many of us seem to like most the episodes that take the time to focus on the somewhat large cast of core characters and their relationships and dynamics instead of wasting screen time on subplots and random side characters. When they ACTUALLY focus on the girls together, and their family members together, it’s gold. Idk why we aren’t getting that every episode.
It’s weird I get this feeling like they don’t want to give us too much of what they know people like? It’s just bizarre. I don’t know how to explain it, but I feel like I’m a child asking my mom to take me to McDonald’s every day and she gives in once in a while and throws me a bone because she can’t possibly spoil me. But like… it’s a tv show and all we are asking for is the show to focus on the primary characters and build out their relationships… so why are they constantly holding back from that? It shouldn’t make us this excited to have basic moments between Annie Beth and Ruby or Beth and Ben, etc. That should be happening every episode. Every other TV show I’ve watched I can enjoy each episode because they focus on the show’s core cast and characters, I see them interact, etc. Good Girls is so bizarre that it doesn’t do that. Maybe because I usually binge on Netflix I’ve never notice it until this season? But I do not understand the insistence on adding pointless subplots and giving us only a handful of episodes that focus on the literal fucking main characters. Like until now Annie has felt like a secondary character this season TBH.

just thinking out loud re: radio one after this mass exodus over the last year ish (alice, maya, dev, annie and now nick)…really wonder what they’re going to pivot to now. It was time for a change and obviously everyone has to move on at some point, but a lot of R1’s core differentiation/marketing (mainly since nick took over breakfast all those years ago) was based on removing the separation between celebs and the presenters. with greg’s show they’ve aimed it at including the listeners more but I don’t think that’s actually worked? with the generation of presenters that have nearly all left, radio one majorly pivoted towards aiming their shows at younger people who are interested in pop culture…removing that aspect of the station seems like a weird move because it’s what made the station unique in comparison to the other more commercial stations. doesn’t really seem sustainable when you no longer have presenters that are really focused on that side of interviewing

Since the fund's establishment in March, over 14,000 clients have been served, with many more still needing help.
Show co-creator Peter Rotter says: "When the pandemic tragically hit our world and began to shut down our film music community, I felt that something needed to be done to help those who were in need of support and care. Through MusiCares® we have found the charitable vehicle that can come alongside our hurting musical family.
"Music has always played a role in history; reflecting both the subtle and monumental moments of our lives through its unique DNA. Music connects each of us, acting as a common thread of unification, opening the hearts of all people.
"Regardless of the color of one's skin, status or station in life, music powerfully breaks through boundaries as its message permeates deep within us; healing our human frailties and condition at our cores. Music is transformative and personal. It powerfully underscores our lives."
"Music has always helped transport, uplift and inspire us through wars, economic hardships, health crises and societal upheavals," says show co-creator, Richard Kraft. "When COVID-19 hit, it threatened the lives and livelihood of much of our Film & TV Music community. So, we decided to create an online special that both celebrates the soundtrack of our lives and benefits, via MusiCares®, the artists who create it."

“Did you know that ‘Do You Want to Build a Snowman?’ sounds just like ‘Papa, Can You Hear Me?’”
You stopped stirring the pot and turned around to your boyfriend. He was nonchalantly setting the table as if he wasn’t currently spitting off random, useless facts that he got from Marvel movies.
“Also did you know that gamma rays have the smallest wavelengths?”
Turning back to your food prep, you grabbed the ladle once more and continued to turn the bubbling blood with a small smile on your face. You didn’t say anything, but the air in the room was comfortable as you kept cooking.
“Ooooh,” he said as his tone took a giddy tone. “Also technically going back in time doesn’t necessarily change the future?”
That was the straw that broke the camels back and there was nothing you could do to control the laugh that spilled out of your mouth. “Babe,” you giggled, “You’ve got to stop having MCU marathons.”
“What else am I supposed to do? I’ve seen literally every movie in existence.” He groaned, taking the silverware and arranging them in a way that was visually appealing but virtually useless. Being a mortal, he always worked hard to make everything seem normal for the two of you, even if it meant dirtying up dinnerware. He wouldn’t use it anyway, but the gesture was appreciated.
Counting down movies in your head, you tried to remember which ones you’d seen with him and which ones you hadn’t. “Annie Hall?” You asked, not remembering if you’d seen it with him or not.
“Your mom and I watched it together. It was the day you got your wisdom teeth out.” The cups came next as he created an almost perfect setting for you two.
“No wonder I don’t remember that. How about Sabrina?” The pot was simmering and you knew that it was close to being done. Just a few more moments and you could get your meal started.
“The old one or the remake?”
“Both. Can you bring me your bowl?” you asked, taking a few more turns of the bubbling red liquid.
In an instant he was next to you with the bowl, handing it over as he placed a cool arm over your shoulders. “Yes and yes. Although Julia does not compare to Audrey in anyway, shape, or form.”
You groaned out at his words as if he was talking dirty to you in the best of ways. “God I love you.”
He chuckled and placed a tender kiss on your temple as you gave him a hearty serving. His cool lips were a contrast against the heat from the stove and it felt wonderful. The arm around your shoulders tightened and he pressed closer like your own personal A/C unit. There was an immediate comfort in his presence and every nerve in your body was trained on him. “I love you too.” His voice got slightly huskier, and your close proximity was almost stifling.
Suppressing a shudder, you began to rack your brain for more movies to potentially lighten the heavy mood. Several comedies were on the tip of your tongue but you began to add proverbial ticks to each of them. Every single historical fiction and science fiction movie was a bust. Action movies were his favorite so every single title that popped into your head popped away just as fast. You began to think of more sensual movies, but even those didn’t make the cut. One particular title stood out amongst the rest, but it was a risk to even ask him especially considering your close proximity and the hold he had over your entire being. However, your body had other ideas and before you could stop yourself the title came tumbling out of your lips like water over a waterfall. “Basic Instinct?”
“Hmm,” he mumbled as he continued to press against you. “Isn’t that the erotic thriller with Sharon Stone?” You nodded your head in confirmation, but all rational thoughts flew out the window when his other hand came to rest on your hip. “Isn’t that the film where Catherine tries to seduce Nick by showing that she has no panties on?”
His words were punctuated by the sly movement of his body against yours. He subtly moved to stand behind you, effectively trapping you between him and the stove. The arm around your shoulder came around and rested across your stomach while the caviler hand on your waist got bolder. He reached down and cupped your tender core, causing you to quietly gasp and arch against him. His hand felt cold through your thin leggings, and the mix of heat and chill had you shivering almost instantly.
His fingers rubbed delicately through the layers of fabric, causing you to feel jolts of ecstasy but not enough to satisfy. The pot and bowl were forgotten as he began to walk you two backward away from the kitchen and into the open living room. If it wasn’t for his arm around your waist your knees would have given out the moment his fingers slipped under the waistbands of your leggings and panties. Honed in on the parts of you that make you come undone, Hoseok’s skilled digits began to swirl around your clit in a tantalizing way.
“You’re so wet for me baby,” he groaned as he nuzzled his face in your neck. He moved you so you were now trapped between him and the back of the couch. A particularly hard circle had you crying out and reaching to grab the cushions to steady yourself. He was making your head swim with just the simplest of movements.
These simple gestures turned into more aggressive teasing when one of his long digits slipped in between your folds and began slowly thrust in and out of you. Soon another finger followed and you were crying out into the heated air. They quickly found that patch of nerves inside of you and stars danced behind your eyes as your toes curled in wonderment. At the same time you felt his fangs drag across the juncture of your neck before lightly nipping you. “Fuck, Hoseok!” you cried, clenching the sofa with tense knuckles. The pain on your neck mixed with the pleasure of his fingers had you coming quickly.
“That’s it baby,” he cooed, licking up the small beads of blood that dripped from the tiny marks on your neck. Hoseok held you as you rode out your high against his fingers, practically thrashing against his strong body. Once your breathing began to slow down his fingers eased up, but rather than move out of your bottoms they simply began to push the offending fabric down to completely expose you to him. You were sticky and glistening as he completely moulded your pliable body into a position that had him itching for another taste of you.
Turning you around, he lifted you to sit on the back of the couch and stood in between your awaiting legs. “What we do now is fuck like minks, forget the rugrats, and live happily ever after,” he whispered against your mouth before pulling you into a passionate kiss. His fangs lightly nipped your bottom lip enough to have you moaning against him but not enough to draw more blood. Despite your wonderful taste, he’d never force you to let him feed off of you.
Besides, he was itching for a taste of something besides blood as he broke the kiss and sunk to his knees before you.
