@behe4dings [ continued from here. ]
“Chad,” Tommy’s voice is so gentle - the wind carries it, “healing around holes,” his head wavers side to side, “the kind of holes people leave behind,” he often thinks about what might have helped him through it, what might have made the bitter reality easier to swallow, “it’s so hard.”
He understood; they were riddled with holes. Pinpricks of loss. “You didn’t kill the vibe,” some things still feel so weird to say, it makes him smile melancholically. “All the time.” It’s his own echo. He’s talking about himself. “Remember?” Stranger to grin in spite of that feeling.
There are separate stacks of graham crackers and chocolate pieces prepped - he hands Chad a napkin too.
People stop asking. People stop checking in. People forget.
Tommy’s seen it, felt it too. His gaze lingers on the other while his s’mores are crafted. “Tell me about them.” All of them. “I’ll listen all night.”

indie tommy jarvis, penned by xan
here is a temporary, very rough google doc. the information section doesn’t do tommy a lot of justice, but it’s a place for rules / verses as well!
i am 24 & my muse will always be portrayed as 18+. I am not comfortable writing with minors & I ask that they do not follow me. Failure to comply with this rule is a hard block, though it’s nothing personal.
i love duplicates, i love crossovers, i love plotting & I love memes. i.m pretty easy to get along with & I love seeking out long-term writing partners. this being said, I do dissappear for weeks at a time due to life. i’m slow & I never expect any rush on any threads or replies.
i do have discord, availaible to all mutuals. i love plotting & setting up pre-established relationships. eventually i’ll make an interest tracker to make it easier to break the ice.
i would like to remain mutuals only. if you have a plot you’re interested in & i’m not following you, you can reach out to me. i reserve the right to reject it but it’s pretty likely i’ll be down for it. i’m trying to keep my dash clear on this blog so if I don’t follow you back right away, it’s nothing personal.

NOW DON’T YOU DARE.
@pocketknlves {{ you lovely th0t... * “ offering their jacket... “
𝐂old water fell onto the girl’s small frame at a heavy pace, drenching her completely as she walked through the foggy forest scene. Laurie always loved rain, ever since she could remeber, even the slightest of drizzles or grey-cloud cover made everything feel okay. It was so much more peaceful, no harsh sun boring into her porcelin skin, no heat burning her body, just the gentle shadow of grey. She honestly forgot just how long she was out in the rain, her last traces being walking out of the trial’s exits & instantly perking up at the scent of a brewing storm.
Never had the weather shifted at their makeshift “sanctuary”, if you could even call it such. It always was the same suffocating, muggy air, uncomfortably warm & stagnent. She knew the Entity controlled everything that happened here, from things as grande as who died the next moment, to the little ones like where each grain of dirt shifted under their bloodied soles. Was this the lead to a new form of punishment? Was it a spiteful mockery of the things they used to love before being caught in hell?
Who cared. Laurie didn’t. She was going to enjoy it,
even if it was the death of her.
She looked up into the dark sky, the color a calming dark blue. This rain was much more than a constant rasp again the ground, it was a complete downpour. The sound of the rain was roaring around her in a white haze, lulling her into a gentle state. She felt ALIVE, feeling the tender pressure of each drop against her body, the heaviness of her soaked blouse on her body, it brought her back to her senses in a lovely way.
Sitting atop a long-ago crumbled pillar of rusted brick, the blonde closed her eyes, a genuine smile coming across her face. It was freedom, well — one of the closer things to freedom  — she was able to experience in the fog for such a god damn long time. It felt like everything was going to be OKAY, that maybe, just maybe, things were not too bad.
She almost began to drift into a slumber, until she felt the weight of SOMETHING being place over her small shoulders.
Her eyes opened instantly, one of her hands grasping onto the thing placed on her. It was rough, yet soft, denim? Reching up, she felt the soft, warming sheep’s wool around the collar. Oh god, really Tommy.
Looking to her side, & tilting her head up, she saw the familiar face of Tommy Jarvis, a kind smile greeting her back. What was he thinking, being out here in such weather. They already were faced with life or death almost every hour, & for sure this kind of rain could leave him with, at the least, a pretty nasty cold, something that the blonde knew he would avidly NOT allow her to care for.
She shook her head, giving the man a disapproving stare, readying herself to push his almost-famous jean jacket back onto his figure.
“ Tommy, no.
You need this more than I do, you could catch a cold out here ! “

“A long thread about my personal experiences during this election dealing with my Labour voting family deciding to out themselves as casual racists by voting Tory / Brexit Party in traditional Labour "Red Wall" heartlands
I come from a genuine working class family .
Grandparents were miners and domestic cleaning staff
Dad was butcher , mum was a cleaner and when she remarried after their divorce she married a miner .
I grew up in a two up two down terrace house that my parents rented from the local Co-op society and then moved into a council house in Kendray (Barnsley) when my mum remarried .
One grandad was a NUM union rep ( at Woolley Colliery alongside Scargill )
Other grandad was a NUPE union rep .
Mum and her sister were both UNISON union reps .
I guess what I'm trying to get across is that we were a proper Labour supporting family , cut us in half and we would have Labour running through us like a stick of Blackpool rock .
And yet in this election I was the only one still voting Labour, in traditional "Red Wall" Lab areas.
I'm in Sheffield but my family is split across the Barnsley area, some in Dan Jarvis' constituency, some in Steph Peacocks and some in the Penistone area that's just turned Tory.
How the hell did this happen ?
Why did my mum and step-dad and my Dad and step-mum all vote Brexit Party ?
Why did my brother and his wife and my aunt and uncle both vote Tory ?
They're not stupid people , my step-mum is a nurse and educated to degree level , my brother an accountant and educated to degree level and my sister-in-law a teacher educated to degree level .
We all lived through Thatchers annihilation of our communities when she went after the unions and destroyed Barnsley after and during the Miners strike .
My step-dad lost his job when Woolley Colliery was closed and never worked again .
So how the hell did they all come to abandon Labour and vote for parties whose policies are the complete antithesis of their own needs and aspirations ??
To answer that you've got to look further back than just this last few weeks or months or the last couple of years .
You've got to look a lot further back .
Before the Miners strike everyone I knew lived and worked in Barnsley , my grandparents jobs were in Barnsley , my parents jobs were in Barnsley , my aunt's and uncle's all worked in Barnsley as it seemed did all my friends families.
The aftermath of the strike changed that .
Most people were employed at the Pits or in industry connected to the Pits or in the service industries like retail , pubs etc where the Miners spent their wages.
When those wages went then so did the local economy.
New Labour in 1997 gave people hope of a change but all they brought to the area were low paid minimum wage jobs to replace high paid skilled industrial jobs .
People thought that New Labour when they got in would regenerate and revitalize these traditional working class Lab heartlands.
They didn't.
Yes we got a far better funded NHS and Sure Start etc.
But areas like Barnsley just got left behind , their Labour votes taken for granted.
Life had changed .
Only my mum still worked in Barnsley .
I moved to Sheffield because of work . My dad ended up in Stoke were he met my step-mum before they returned to Barnsley .
My brother , his wife and most other family members worked in other nearby towns and cities , even though they still lived in Barnsley .
Some like my Step-dad and aunt and uncle relied on the benefits system to see them through to retirement age .
Then along came the banking crisis , followed by the high street crisis that saw the likes of Woolworths bite the dust .
Quickly followed by a Tory & Lib Dem government pushing their disastrous Austerity policies.
Areas like Barnsley took another hammering .
Jobs lost in the local economy which had never recovered from Thatcher thanks to New Labours indifference.
Cuts to essential council services and cuts to the NHS locally meaning longer waiting lists and crowded doctors waiting rooms .
And in amongst all this comes Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson .
The poisonous bastards gave everyone in areas like Barnsley exactly what the needed , exactly what they wanted .......
Someone to blame.
Immigrants .
Immigrants let into this country by the EU.
Immigrants taking our jobs .
Immigrants using our NHS
Immigrants taking our council houses
Immigrants filling up our doctors waiting rooms
You see it couldn't just be the Tory's fault that things were rough because it hadn't gotten any better whilst Labour was in power.
So it has to be someone else's fault .
So Farage and Johnson must be correct when they blame immigrants and tells us all politicians are the same
Both narratives that have been pushed relentlessly by Farage , Vote Leave and Johnson
Farage and Johnson must be correct if the news on the telly says the same thing and asks them to come on all the time to talk about it .
Farage and Johnson must be correct if the newspapers all print the same stories blaming immigrants for taking our jobs and our houses and clogging up our NHS .
And Farage and Johnson must be correct if everyone on Facebook is posting the same Memes especially if greasy Brenda from the local chippy is posting it cos she obviously knows here stuff !!!!
Under Thatcher we knew who to blame , the Tory's.
But under Blair who did you blame for life getting no better because of New Labours indifference ??
The politicians , both sides because they are all the same , none of them give a stuff about us .
Under austerity who do we blame ?
Not the Tory's cos they've told us that we are all in this together and there is no other way , we have to all make sacrifices .
So we blame the immigrants , the ones that the EU are forcing us to take .
And by default because we tend to class anyone who's different to us as a potential immigrant then we blame any and all ethnic minorities
All of this whipped up to a frenzy since 2016 by the likes of Farage , Vote Leave , Tommy Robinson , Katie Hopkins , Hartley-Brewer , Rod Liddle and Boris Johnson and his Tory cohorts.
Aided and abetted by the usual cast of idiots at the BBC , ITV and Sky .
Sadly I watched this unfold with my own family over the last 3-4 years and didn't do anything like enough to try and counter it
I ignored the initial flurry of anti EU comments and social media posts partly because I was voting leave too, albeit for completely different reasons
I spent far too long just telling them to stop spouting racist bollocks when they moaned about immigrants instead of actually sitting down and explaining why the stuff they were reading , watching and sharing was wrong and factually false .
I ignored the anti Corbyn comments because I just assumed that when it came around to election time they would just hold their noses and vote Labour as we had all done for years before regardless of the leaders popularity , just as they all had in 2017
I finally realised I hadn't done enough when the election campaign kicked in .
I only work part time now and that's from home so I'd decided to get fully involved in the campaign both on the ground locally and on social media .
Boy did I get the shock of my life when I started posting stuff about Labours plans and manifesto on Facebook .
I got absolutely frigging mullered ...........
by my own family members and friends.
My posts were full of comments from them with arguments and rhetoric that had been drummed into them by Farage and Johnson over the last few years .
My timeline was full of anti Labour Memes .
It got that bad that I ended up deleting my Facebook account .
Most of the family aren't speaking to me and Boxing day this year when we traditionally all meet up at my mum's is going to be an absolute nightmare .
Then you realise it's not just yourself and your own family thats experiencing this .
You speak to a friend in Rotherham and find they've had the exact same experiences.
You get a call from your oldest son in the armed forces to tell you that he's up on a charge after getting into a scuffle with some of his colleagues after being called a muslim loving terrorist supporting traitor just for sharing some Labour stuff on social media
Living in Sheffield possibly led to me being a little insulated from Labours problems .
It's a multi cultural city and apart from the usual quota of nobheads and Tommy Robinson types we all live side by side with few serious problems.
Brexit didn't seem to be as big an issue inside the city as it did in the out-laying towns .
But in fairness things never got as desperate or demoralizing in the cities as they did in the town's and old industrial area's
We weren't looking quite as hard for someone to blame
Corbyn had a definite image problem on the doorsteps .
He had a massive target on his back and there's no denying that the media were able to hit it's bullseye with alarming regularity
But this hadn't been insurmountable during the 2017 election even in areas like Barnsley and Rotherham.
And I genuinely believe that had Jeremy Corbyn been just as intolerant towards immigrants and ethnic minorities as the Tory's were we would have had a very different result.
After all the country happily elected an absolute racist bigot instead of Corbyn
That's an absolutely disgraceful situation to find ourselves in especially when you also come to the realisation that members of your own family voted this way .
How do Labour get voters like my family back ???
More to the point do we actually want them back ???
I'm not sure I want to be related to my own family members at the moment because of their willingness to blame immigration and ethnic minorities for all our ills .
And yes we may have had the policies that would have addressed the problems that led to them voting for the Tory's / Brexit Party but you can't enact those policies if you don't get into government in the first place .
Would a different leader have made a difference to these voters ??
Yes to some of them .
Would a different Brexit policy have made a difference .
Definitely , to most of them
Did they vote this way because they're racist ???
Who genuinely can say ???
I hope that for the ones related to myself that it isn't a deep seated racism , rather just a reaction to a constant and unrelenting malign influence of the mainstream media , targeted Facebook memes and snake oil salesmen like Farage , Johnson and Cummings .
But I guess we won't know that until 2024 when we go to the polls once more , with a different leader , with Brexit no longer an issue and with the realisation that even outside of the EU nothing has changed in Barnsley and similar towns under this bastard of a Tory government”

If you don’t like Peggy Carter, you don’t like the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Tumblr media
Buckle up, Gentle Readers. You may have thought this blog was done vomiting Peggy Carter meta, but you’d be wrong.
It’s still out there, you probably know, this concept that Peggy Carter is [just] Steve Rogers’ girlfriend. It doesn’t even have the sense to lurk in the shadows of the fandom. It’s front and center whenever she’s brought up. And whether that’s because those posting and perpetuating it think the notion weakens whatever/whoever they ship with Cap, or comes from a place where it’s only supposed to be men that matter in fandom/comics/Marvel/the universe at large, it’s simply, aggressively wrong.
If you don’t like Peggy Carter, you don’t like the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Why would I say that? I’m so glad you asked.
Tumblr media
Peggy Carter, as portrayed in the MCU (that’s all we’re going to be talking about her representation in, here), was introduced in CA:TFA (we know that, if we’re reading this we know that). That film was not an origin story for her character. She had already originated, and her character came to that film fully-formed (insert Athena reference).
Tumblr media
(and what a form it is)
She had a job, at which she was very good. She had a sense of self and service, she had (as close as anyone could get to it) the respect of Tommy Lee Jones’ character. She already had a moral compass and a mission.
Tumblr media
In fact, it could be supported from the narrative that Steve had to take the super-soldier serum to complete his origin so that he could become Peggy’s equal (at least physically) in both the fight and in love. CA:TFA doesn’t show that Peggy needed to change in any way.
And here’s where some people seem to start to feel rubbed the wrong way. Marvel wasn’t finished with her. In fact, Marvel decided that actually, they wanted to take Peggy Carter and craft from her the actual freakin’ bedrock of their cinematic universe.
How many MCU films/series has Peggy been in? Six. (I count Civil War, even though it’s only her picture.) Sure, some of those are merely cameo appearances. Cap scores eight by the same counting, but two of his appearances are cameos. Cap has three films in which he’s the main character (I could debate that in Civil War with you, if you like, but not here), roughly six hours of film. In three Avengers movies he’s one of many characters, we’ll give him two hours (though his screen time is likely far less). We’re up to eight hours. His three cameos account for 15 minutes. So, for Cap The Literally Freakin’ First Avenger, we get 8.25 hours of film with him.
And for Peggy? Her five cameos equal about 30 minutes. Her time in CA:TFA gets her about, 45 minutes (maybe a little less). BUT Marvel, in using her as the foundation of their cinematic universe (Peggy’s existence and skin in the fight pre-dates Cap’s) they gave her a series. It ran two seasons. She was the main character. It started with a short. Add fifteen minutes (we’re up to 1.5 hours, now). The series aired thirteen hours of footage. That’s 14.5 hours on-screen about Peggy Carter. That’s an awful lot to develop and write and shoot and produce to be dismissed as merely fan service, or (as it more frequently is claimed at least on tumblr) to solely try and establish that Steve Rogers is Straight-y McStraighterson b/c Peggy Carter.
Fourteen and a half hours across multiple plot lines and platforms. There’s the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D cameo. (Forgot about that one, didn’t you?)
Tumblr media
Her appearance in Ant-Man.
Tumblr media
Hours and hours and hours of plots and storylines that don’t deal with Steve Rogers at all, in any way. [Caveat: Some of S1 does masterfully deal with the loss of Captain American AND Steve Rogers--for both her and Howard Stark* (*also more than Cap’s boyfriend)]
Do you know who founds S.H.I.E.L.D.? Howard Stark and PEGGY CARTER. Are we gonna argue now that S.H.I.E.L.D. isn’t foundational to the MCU? Are we gonna handwave Coulson and Fury, Maria Hill b/c “they just work for Cap’s girlfriend”?
Marvel’s Agent Carter spent literally AN ENTIRE SEASON schooling us on the fact that dismissing Peggy Carter, Steve Rogers’ Liaison (she’s his handler, he’s her asset) as ‘Cap’s Girlfriend’ was not only reductive but wrong-headed. Six hours of listening to bonehead boys-club agents at SSR belittling Peggy for being female, claiming her entire professional existence was courtesy Cap.
And yet Peggy is already in the military when she is assigned to Cap’s unit. She’s already giving orders, and working for Tommy Lee Jones—don’t think she wasn’t getting told she was probably sleeping with HIM--(and dealing with idiots who can’t yet dismiss her for being Cap’s girlfriend, so they’re glad to sneer at her for being a female in power).
Tumblr media
Peggy Carter doesn’t work under Steve Rogers, she works for people above him. She’s the one who, as they say in the spy world, ‘brings him in’ by encouraging him to break-up with the USO and use what Dr. Erskine gave him for a greater good. She works alongside Howard Stark, possibly the brightest mind on Earth at the time.
And let’s not forget the fact that Steve and Peggy are not ACTUALLY dating. They’ve never been on a date. Once, she visited a bar where he was, and then left after a short period of time. Alone.
Tumblr media
It is actually illegal in the Midwest to leave this dress out of any posts where it can feasibly be used.
They may have spent hours together in work-based situations, but insofar as we’re shown, they never even so much as brushed hands. Yeah, her picture’s in his compass. And they look at each other like they’re ready to make love despite the full room crowd around them, but recall: There’s kissing, and only Tommy Lee Jones there to witness it.
Tumblr media
What’s that mean? Well, I doubt it means TLJ’s character was interested enough or indiscreet enough to get that event posted in the base newsletter. What it means is that even if she had not been, Peggy’s sex immediately (long before anything happened between her and Steve) caused people to assume she was Steve’s girlfriend. Her grief following his loss? Not allowed to just be grief for a colleague, a lost asset. Nope, had to be love (even though to those making that qualification of their relationship little evidence existed to reach that conclusion). Peggy had no chance to be seen as other.
And had Steve lived/not crashed—she never, ever would have been able to extricate herself in-story from people assuming and tagging her with that label, negating all her personal triumphs as “Cap’s girlfriend’s” un-earned accomplishments.
But you know what we’re shown instead? Steve on ice—able to save the world later, but Agent Peggy Carter saving the world NOW. She’s ground-zero for dealing with the superpowered. If we’re told Cap’s the First Avenger, then Peggy Carter is the First Avenger’s handler. She writes the textbook for dealing with superpowers, and the supernatural showing up on earth. She builds the agency designed to deal with items like the Tesseract and people like Cap. Gate-keeper of what becomes the MCU.
Tumblr media
I just love Dum Dum. Did I need another reason to use this photo?
In fact, there’s only one MCU character with more screen time than Peggy Carter. It’s the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. In his series, where he’s the main character, he clocks about 31 hours of time (roughly twice Peggy’s). And he’s in The Defenders ensemble as well. (I’ll generously award him two hours there, for a total of 33 hours in the MCU). But Matt Murdock stays in Hell’s Kitchen, and his adventures occur there. He’s not been allowed to run around in the broader mythology. He’s contained. Claustrophobic, even.
But Peggy Carter has been deliberately given vast MCU connections, and developed as a thread that runs through every earth-bound MCU journey (save Spider-Man thus far). In addition to her connection to Nick Fury, Black Widow’s Red Room training (via early Widow-prototype Dottie Underwood), SSR/S.H.I.E.L.D., the Howling Commandos, Howard Stark, and the original human Jarvis. She’s even dealt with Zero Matter, a similar entity to Thor’s Aether. She’s connected to Hank Pym, and personally knew Bucky Barnes in WWII. And almost certainly has an unexplored-in-canon connection to Tony Stark.
Arguably, Peggy Carter also wins Most Well-Developed character in the MCU. We’ve been shown Peggy has:
           Parents who have appeared on-screen
Multiple named friends and acquaintances (many not even there               to advance the plot!)
-          Two significant frenemies (Dottie Underwood, Jack Thompson)
-          Close confidantes with whom she shares multiple scenes
-          A backstory/origin story given in her series that pre-dates her                     appearance in CA:TFA
-          An ongoing narrative that laid the basis for the MCU
-          A funeral attended by lots (a whole church-load) of people
-          A broken-engagement fiance
Dated a man NOT Cap, following Cap’s ice dive
           A husband
           A brother
-          Children
-          Grandchildren
           A niece
-          A rich, whole, life outside her brief time with Cap
CONCLUSION: You know who dismisses Peggy Carter as Steve Rogers’ girlfriend? (And also suggests that she’s slept with Howard Stark, her former co-worker?) Loser SSR Agent Krzeminski.
Do you know what happens to him? He gets shot in the head. By a girl.
Who he probably just thought was some guy’s girlfriend.

WandaVision Episode 3 Theories Explained
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This article contains spoilers for WandaVision episodes 1-3, and the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The internet is full of places to go and thrash it out with likeminded overthinkers if you become obsessed with a particular TV show. Lost, Breaking Bad, Twin Peaks and Game of Thrones all boasted thriving fan communities who had a blast dreaming up theories about where their series’ story was heading. Now, Marvel’s WandaVision has tapped into the natural curiosity of viewers with its wall-to-wall Easter eggs and mysterious MCU nods, and people have gone full ‘It’s Always Sunny red string meme’ over them.
You don’t need to dig too far to find comment sections, YouTube videos and Reddit threads jam-packed with theories about WandaVision, so we’ve been mulling over what might be going on beneath the surface.
Here are some of the most intriguing fan theories about WandaVision, three episodes in…
Online Catch
Just as Ultron’s consciousness could escape into the internet during Avengers: Age of Ultron, a developing WandaVision theory posits that Vision didn’t exactly ‘die’ by Thanos (and Wanda’s) hand in Avengers: Infinity War, but found a safe space to hide online instead, much like JARVIS did after Ultron destroyed him in the lab.
By creating a new reality stitched together from old TV sitcoms and potentially using the late Tony Stark’s burgeoning BARF tech, Wanda may have found a way to slowly bring Vision back to his body without the Mind Stone as an essential component – hey, Shuri thought was an option – but if these efforts to retrieve Vision from the internet are all above board, why is SWORD so desperate to get information on what’s happening inside Wanda’s Westview nook?
Pinches of Paprika Out of Ten: 10
Camp Lehigh
Camp Lehigh has popped up in the MCU a fair few times so far. The New Jersey military base was where Captain America trained in the 1940s, has been a SHIELD facility, a HYDRA hub, and a storage home for the Tesseract. Lehigh even housed Arnim Zola’s brain after his body died. Since Westview is supposedly in New Jersey, is it really Camp Lehigh?
There’s a theory that after the Avengers compound was destroyed during Avengers: Endgame, Wanda may have been taken to a hastily-rebuilt Camp Lehigh in the midst of her grief, eventually constructing a forcefield around an altered version of it at some point and shutting out SWORD, hence SWORD’s continuing efforts to penetrate it.

Power Swap
Some viewers were puzzled by Vision’s accelerated speed when he flipped through the playing cards during his magic act in episode 2 and when he ran to get the doctor in episode 3, which we haven’t really seen before as part of his powers. Vision can phase through matter, and can also fly at an accelerated speed, but these moments felt more Quicksilver-ish in their nature. Has Wanda or whoever is behind the creation of Westview pieced this new version of Vision together with shattered memories of others that she’s loved and lost?
Pinches of Paprika Out of Ten: 8
Welcome to Skrullville
Wanda’s Westview neighbors may not be willing or able to reveal their true nature yet, but some people are wondering whether they will turn out to be a gang of shapeshifting Skrulls, just like Ben Mendelsohn’s Captain Marvel character, Talos. How the Skrulls could have possibly become roped into the scenario is currently anyone’s guess, but we do know the alien race will play a pivotal role in Marvel’s upcoming Nick Fury-centric Disney+ series, Secret Invasion.
Pinches of Paprika Out of Ten: 7
Young Avengers
Now that Wanda’s twins could conceivably grow up to become their Wiccan and Speed comics counterparts, it may be a chance for Marvel to pave the way for Young Avengers, a team whose line-up has previously included Kate Bishop (soon to be introduced in Disney+ series Hawkeye), Cassie Lang (Ant-Man’s now-grownup daughter) and America Chavez (already reportedly cast in Doctor Strange in the Multitude of Madness). We wrote more about Billy and Tommy, and what they could mean for the MCU, right here.

The Butterfly Effect
We’ve been told that WandaVision will set up the events of Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, so fans have been keeping their eyes peeled for ties to Strange’s comics history and his MCU story so far. Episode 3 seemed to make a couple of nods to the good Doctor – after Westview’s OB-GYN Dr. Nielson checks on Wanda’s pregnancy progress, Vision assures him he has nerves of steel, and calls him “Mr. Doctor”, a callback to Strange’s banter with villain Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen).
There are also the butterflies that materialize as Wanda is preparing to give birth to her twins, one of which lands on Vision and looks very similar to the first ‘out of place’ thing Strange sees after he’s taken on a mind-melting tour of the multiverse by The Ancient One in Doctor Strange. As he heads up into the Earth’s atmosphere, Strange notices a single butterfly remarkably like those that flutter into Wanda’s nursery, and when The Ancient One begins to talk Strange through opening his mind’s eye, she asks “What is real? What mysteries lie beyond the reach of your senses? At the root of existence, mind and matter meet. Thoughts shape reality.” Hmm…
Rewatched Doctor Strange and noticed something…..interesting from WANDAVISION
Pinches of Paprika Out of Ten: 5
Westview Is Mephisto’s Womb
There’s a theory flying around online that Westview is acting as a kind of mystical womb that will eventually give birth to a fully-realised Mephisto in our world. The Marvel Comics villain and all-around pain in the ass has already been teased in a trailer for Disney+’s Loki series, but may first come to fruition inside Wanda’s powerful-but-twisted reality.
A specific creature has featured in each episode of WandaVision so far. Some fans think these are Mephisto’s evolving “animal stages” – first appearing as a lobster to represent “mating for life” (they don’t, but sitcom Friends played a large part in the myth), a rabbit representing reproduction, and a stork manifesting during the “birth” stage of episode 3. Will Wanda and Vision get a young puppy in the next episode? Probably!
An trailer image from a future episode of WandaVision, where you can see a doghouse marked “Sparky”
Pinches of Paprika Out of Ten: 5
Hawkeye Will Save the Day
Apart from Vision, Clint Barton is the Avenger with the closest relationship to Wanda. He inspired her to take action and fight her way through her fear during the final battle with Ultron and his hoards in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and it was Clint who came to her aid when Tony Stark put her under house arrest in Captain America: Civil War.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
At the time, Tony took his frustrations out on Steve for helping to concoct the plan to pull Wanda out, saying Steve rescued Wanda “from a place she doesn’t even want to leave, a safe place.” Scarlet Witch didn’t take much convincing to leave the Avengers’ compound during Civil War, so Tony’s assertions felt off, but in WandaVision she genuinely doesn’t seem to want to leave her safe bubble.
Though many online rumors point to Doctor Strange facing off against Wanda at the end of the series, will Hawkeye actually be the one who breaks through to her?
Pinches of Paprika Out of Ten: 5
No It’s Becky
It’s long been rumored that Evan Peters has a role in WandaVision. The actor continued to play the X-Men’s Pietro Maximoff, aka Quicksilver, long after the MCU had killed off its own version of the speedster at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and he quickly became a fan favorite. Could WandaVision’s upcoming Roseanne homage be key to how Peters briefly enters the MCU?
If you recall, Roseanne Barr’s successful sitcom replaced her daughter Becky with another actress – Scrubs star Sarah Chalke – when original star Lecy Goranson left, and the audience was expected to accept it. With Wanda’s mind now lingering on the loss of her twin brother Pietro, this could be the kind of classic TV trope we could expect to see, and it would also be a fun-but-bittersweet appearance for Marvel fans who have probably seen the last of Peters as Quicksilver in the X-Men film franchise.
Pinches of Paprika Out of Ten: 4
Ad Infinity
HYDRA has clearly been a factor in WandaVision’s commercial breaks, with the organization’s logo appearing during two of them so far, but what if the theme of the ads goes beyond its callback to Wanda’s pre-Age of Ultron experiments under HYDRA boss Baron Wolfgang von Strucker, and represents the unique capabilities of the Infinity Stones, too?
A growing swathe of MCU fans think the Stark toaster represents the Power Stone, the Strucker watch represents the Time Stone, and that the team behind WandaVision weren’t really hiding Hydra Soak’s likeness to the Space Stone/Tesseract during episode 3.
Post-Endgame, the stones were reduced to the atomic level by Thanos, but the Space Stone may still be out there in its Tesseract form thanks to Loki’s thieving hands. It can’t be a coincidence that Hydra Soak is the more fully-formed MacGuffin here, can it?
Is it just me or those the “Hydra Soak” look a lot like the tesseract… from WANDAVISION
Pinches of Paprika Out of Ten: 3

@sainterror said, “You deserve your own chance.”
He is far from the graveyard now. He is by the water with her - there are so many various masses of water left to see. To think he’d almost sworn them off. He never lost his knack for swimming. He was a natural. He was fast. His hair was still damp, his shirt sprinkled with drops from his curls.
“So do you.”
It was hard to unravel her from any choice he might make. Especially when it involved her, or could involve her. He’d chosen her over revenge, sought against a phantom. He could incinerate Jason’s bones, and Tommy would still glance over his shoulder for the rest of his life.
“I want my chance to be with you.” He remembered a time he could not envision a future for himself. Now the image of her seared his eyes when he tried to fall asleep. She invaded his hopes, and his dreams. “Teresita, I like life more with you,” he careens his cheek against hers.
He’s hiding the way his eyes shimmer, by holding her a bit longer, “I want to take chances with you.”
He’s laced his fingers with hers. His nose grazes her cheek - he’s looking at her. He didn’t know he would have any more chances, or a chance, at all. He could never have pictured someone like Teresa in his life.
“Away from here, together.”

GOOD NEWS --
HELP IS ON THE SCENE. One of the counselors was able to use the radio and get in contact with the local ranger, OHNO SATOSHI, and he is now on camp grounds. Similar to the role of Tommy Jarvis in the movies, Satoshi has come face to face with Jason before in the past. It was long ago, on a camping trip with his family as a boy, but he will never forget the trail of blood that Jason left behind during those events -- or the near death encounter that SCARRED the now ranger for life.
He has since devoted his days to actively hunting down Jason and finding ways to kill him. Satoshi knows all of Jason’s powers and weaknesses, and even knows where his SHACK is located. He has also brought a shotgun with THREE bullets in order to deter the monster.
In the end, he knows that Jason’s death will only come from something connected to his mother, Pamela Voorhees, and that help will be needed from the other counselors. The ranger is also aware that he, himself, is NOT IMMUNE to Jason.
Teamwork is a MUST.
NOTE: The first CURRENTLY LIVING counselor to have a thread with Satoshi will have temporary immunity. The starter must either come from him OR he must have responded to yours. Asks sent/received do not count, it needs to be a post.

The Friday the 13th franchise & Jason Voorhees
The key thing about the Friday the 13th series is that Jason is the main character. He's the stand-in for the audience – a faceless, silent, unrelenting judge. He's the one the viewer is supposed to project on. Yes, there's a narrative hook as to why he's always going after teens, camp counselors, and those mid-coitus but he does target a wide range of archetypal assholes that most everyone kinda-sorta-maybe wouldn't mind seeing disemboweled. That's what makes the Friday the 13th films so cathartic, it sets up these paper-thin stereotypes that eviscerate convincingly. Of course, that's speaking of the series as an average. It starts with a legitimately good, unique horror flick and a lesser but still worthy sequel and is capped off with two bizarre (for completely different reasons, mind) high-concept, low-brow pieces that lean much too heavily on the rickety crutches of references and rip-offs.
The idealized Jason Voorhees of common culture strides ruthlessly through the nightmare-pop landscapes of parts III-VIII. These six films have the most in common – subplots get abandoned, characterization is ignored, and story threads are often quite literally severed. Hell, even entire previous films are ignored. Narrative continuity between the films more or less stops being a thing past Part V. Tommy Jarvis just never shows up again, the whole telekinesis thing from Part VII is totally dropped. Each part brazenly charges forward with unique ideas and scenarios no matter how stupid, and makes their own contribution to the mythos in little worlds populated with caricatures for Jason to hack his way through. Defiantly, Jason is the only consistent component to the series. Near the end of Part III he takes an axe to the face and there's a cut through his mask through the remaining 7 films – even though they're all wildly different. Each part he looks more ragged, his clothes tatter and his waterlogged skin swells.
There's this refreshing quality to the Friday the 13th series that I don't think other slasher movies posses in that the series very seldom gives a shit about the characters in it, and even more seldom does it try and convince the audience to. Even peer franchises like 'Halloween' and 'Nightmare on Elm Street' make considerable efforts (efficacy debatable) to create relatable, believable people to be terrorized by whichever monster is co-starring. That's the right way, the proper way to make a scary film – because one of our most beautiful, endearing and human compulsions is that if we can imagine ourselves in someone else's place, we will. Friday the 13th is almost counter-horror, it revels in it's creative, if not goofy, brutality and shows us it's alright to swim for a while in Crystal Lake's apparently bottomless aversion for good taste.

Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (1985) Review: A Messy Plot
“If Jason still haunts you, you’re not alone!”
Synopsis: Still haunted by his past, Tommy Jarvis – who, as a child, killed Jason Voorhees – wonders if the serial killer is connected to a series of brutal murders occurring in and around the secluded halfway house where he now lives.
Watch now on Amazon
Calamity Brains:
This installment in the Friday the 13th series is sort of a mess, but the end result is still kind of entertaining. Ten years after the events in The Final Chapter, Jason has been reduced to a town legend and joke for those who never met him.
A New Beginning is the consequences chapter of this franchise (and we all know how I love those). Corey Feldman‘s character Tommy from The Final Chapter (played as an adult by John Shepherd) is once again the star. Now, though, he’s so damaged by his experience as a child that he’s unable to function and shuffled from place to place, finally ending up in an experimental free range mental health clinic surrounded by farms. Here he meets kindly staff and local officials, and a colorful cast of characters… but the idyll is broken almost immediately when one patient murders another.
Instead of things settling back down after the murder, things naturally get worse… and more murdery. Though the local sheriff (Marco St. John) suspects Jason is the culprit, no one else believes him. Meanwhile, Tommy is having a hard time keeping a grip on reality as his nightmares seem to be coming true.
A New Beginning is a weird mix of serious mental health issues and standard slasher fodder. There are several story threads that are dropped and never picked up again, and a number of pointless characters receive way too much screen-time for simply being murder victims. (I do love me some Miguel Núñez, but his character serves absolutely no purpose.) Despite the mental health angle, most of the characters don’t have much in the way of personality or backstory. Though there are a few nods to The Final Chapter and some fun situations, this isn’t a particularly well-loved film for franchise fans and doesn’t have a ton to offer for the rest of us, either.
Calamity Brains’ Rating: C+ Watch now on Amazon

@causticviolence [ continued from here. ]
There was vengeance - revenge could slumber in the most hollow of beasts and never hunger. But the want of it ached in Tommy. They were sat in a tavern. His thumb grazing the photograph, the address etched in ink. The writing was smudged, but he knew the price of helping the other find the precise coordinates.
“You can’t take it back,” his eyes are heavy - he’s exhausted with the weight of what he carries with him, all those things he will never ever take back. The pasture is empty, there is no life left in the meadow, no creature tending to the weeds. There is only the dead, and the hungry.
“You won’t know what’s waiting.” Neither did Tommy. Not exactly. Only speculation, only a question, only his imagination of what was nestled beyond the trees.
“What’s there will see you first,” he did not believe he could outwit the forest. A thousand eyes were watching them. If it was vengeance sought - he would need the humming of the trees. “There’s a price to making it to the other side.”
Where Death awaited them.
“One last drink before we go?”

@jupiter3 said, "for someone who likes to be left alone, you sure do a lot of shit for attention."
There was soot in his hair. His hands were slathered black with grease, and he reeked of gasoline. He was filthy, and he felt out of place the moment they departed the station. He’d spent a few hours in a restless sleep in the cot when they bailed him out. It was the middle of the night, and they still donned glamorous make-up, wearing his denim jacket over their outfit.
They’d driven mostly in silence. He hadn’t spoken about the fire, and he was sure the longer the quiet prevailed, the harder it’d be to string together words.
“I’m sorry,” had he regretted burning the files? No. The arson charge had not been unexpected. He reaped what he sowed. “For dragging you into this.”

@anarkissm said, “They can’t kill me in a way that matters.”
Tommy’s hands hadn’t stopped shaking. “I don’t want you to die because of me,” or for him, “dead is dead,” his voice wavered, “I need you hear.” He tried to be still while Jake wrapped the gauze around his wrist. His palms were unsteady, caked in dirt and blood. They were both crouched out of sight. Every so often, he spared a glance over his shoulder. He tried to peek in hopes of seeing if someone was sneaking up behind them. He only heard silence, and it served to make him more wary. “We shouldn’t linger.”
They were caught in a blizzard. The fall of snow made it harder to discern figures from shadows, and paranoia ebbed at Tommy’s mind. He didn’t like the cold. “It’s too quiet. Let’s get moving.”
