Niko: *deep sigh*
Jer: What's wrong now?
Niko: Lotus is mad at me. Again.
Killian: Bro, just apologize.
Niko: Yeah, genius, I already did that.
Gareth: Just show him how sorry you are.
Killian: Yeah, buy him something he likes.
Vaughn: Make him food or something.
Niko: *sigh*
Niko, standing up: You guys are useless.

Vaughn Morozov
Headcannon with fem!OC.
Disclaimer: I do not own Vaughn or any other characters mentioned in this hc, besides the fem!OC, they all belong to the rightful author Rina Kent. I wrote this just for fun, since Vaughn isn't getting his own book and I'm intrigued by him, I'm putting my own thoughts on this.
There could be inaccuracies of how I write the characters but bear with it,please. Crazy, but I haven't read any of RKs works (besides GoP) and so it could be a disaster.
I am aware of his unnamed girlfriend but like I have mentioned, this work is a figment of my imagination and I'm writing this purely for entertainment purposes, so don't take offense to any of this.
Enjoy your read.
Vaughn was presumably mentioned to be17/18 in GoF.
So I'll be writing in and around that timeline.
Vaughn Morozov, Kirill and Sasha's son, heir to the New York Bratva, the future Pakhan, the Pakhan's heir, and so on could be used when it comes to giving a small idea about him.
Being the sole heir and born to loving parents, Vaughn was raised in a family of love, despite the harsh reality of the mafia world.
From a young age, he knew of his future, the legacy he had to continue, the empire he had to lead. Yet, his parents didn't pressurize him about such responsibilities wanting him to live a "normal teenage life" for as long as he could.
But Vaughn, was, well one could say, a thoughtful kid who is mature for his age. He displayed leadership skills from a young age, even when he was with Jeremy or Nikolai and was younger than them, he did not lack behind anywhere. Especially when it came to academic and being a smartass.
Hazel eyes like his mother with dark brown/black hair like his father, Vaughn was blessed with good looks, not Greek God sculpture like but definitely one that would be preserved in a museum just because there was no one else like him. At this growing stage he was tall, maybe not always the tallest amongst The Heathens but his growth spurts were definitely not done growing. Standing a good 6'2 already at the age of 17.
If it was anyone else, one might use the advantage of what he had, after all he has almost everything, the money, the power, the looks, the charm and the brain. But this man is just so uninterested and aloof when it came to dating life or just having a crush in general.
Seeing his mom and dad be in love, Vaughn too desired for it, wondering how it feels to be in love and be taken care by that one special person. And so he thought he was defected for never once experiencing having such romantic feelings for anyone.
Don't get it wrong, yes he is still young but while he has heard here and there from his friends about their crushes when they were little boys. Little Vaughn was curious and frustrated for never being able to experience such fluttery feelings.
So once he got older and got to learn more academic knowledge and just what life had to offer to a 15 year old, Vaughn started expecting less.
"It's just not for everyone." He thought. And with that he just got more aloof on those expectations. He didn't care anymore.
Or so he thought.
What happens when an Earthquake occurs? One's first instinct is to get to safety, maybe an open space or maybe duck and stay underneath a sturdy table. But what can Vaughn do when the 'earthquake' shook his entire world and he had no place to hide. No table too strong to avoid the devoid galaxy of ice cold feelings to finally start thawing.
Okay maybe that was exaggerated. He was just 'intrigued' to know more about a certain someone. Yeah, that's it. Just curious about a particular female, who had bagged a prestigious scholarship to study in the expensive, elite, private school Vaughn goes to.
Why her in particular? There were other scholarship kids in the school too, but it was just her whom he wanted to know about.Well, he don't have the answer to that yet.
Jane Kim. Asian. Black hair. Brown eyes and average 5'4 in height. A bright student, academically thriving and even street smart. She is a hard worker and an achiever. But that didn't mean she overestimated herself or belittled others.
Whatever it maybe, she was grateful to be able to study here. Coming from a working middle class family, with parents working, she wasn't underprivileged but they weren't rich either. So she decided to take the advantage of the scholarship and study and earn a good certificate to support her education even for college.
Being a foreigner and all alone in a big country and even a big state like New York was overwhelming, especially for an introvert like her. Had it been those teen dramas, she might have been a victim of bullying. And with her parents away, living in another country, it might just be worse.
But luckily none of the bullying happened, she had safely passed her freshman year and is now a sophomore in high school. For credits and pocket money, she took up part time jobs in the library near their school and has recently started tutoring the new freshmen batch. To keep her scholarship, she had to work, work and keep on working to maintain her grades.
She was 2 years younger than him and was a class below him. Her being a sophomore and him a junior. And besides that all he did was observe her from afar.
He would never admit it but he would watch over her anywhere she would be in the school premises, like sitting on the floor above her, watching her as she taught the group of freshmen. He was jealous. But poor boy, just don't know it. He just felt a tug in his heart everytime he saw her talk to others, except him.
For her whole freshman year, Vaughn just watched over her, admired her from afar.
The first time they actually had an encounter was during her sophomore year, Vaughn (in his junior year) was playing for the school's ice hockey team.
He saw Jane interact with the rival school's captain, giving him a faint smile and probably wishing him luck.(He dont know that Jane and the other guy goes to the same church and are good friends, their friendship was mostly like a brother-sisterly relationship.)
Oh boy, did that snap something in Vaughn. Frustrated and annoyed to the core, he was a beast on the field that evening. Beating the rival team by a huge gap, and almost caused a physical fight.
And when he saw Jane counseling her friend, it only added fuel to the fire.
He didn't know why he was acting like the way he was, suddenly he was dragging Jane out of the arena, holding his bags and hers all on one of his arm.
Confused and startled Jane stops him, she knew who he was Vaughn Morozov, a rumoured mafia heir, she didn't know whether to buy that rumour or not, being the skeptic she was.
"What the heck? Can you let me go?" She yanks her hand from his grip and snatches her bag from his hand.
Do you know Vaughn is no longer an intelligent person whenever Jane is near him? Yeah, he discovered it just recently too.
"Don't you think it's ironic how you were more concern about the rival team than your own home team?" He says, tone filled with sarcasm and almost like fury bubbling under it.
Jane stared at him in disbelief, annoyance soon filled her face. She wasn't going to answer this stuck up snob, she thinks to herself. Only glaring at him, she push passes him to make her way back to her students apartment.
He messed up. This was no way to make a first good impression, but his pride didn't allow him to correct himself. He didn't say or do anything only watching her as she walked away from him and gosh did she look good even in their royal blue school uniform. He was malfunctioning surely.
So that's how their strange rendezvous started. No, this isn't the 'guy bullying the girl' case. Rather, from that day onwards, Vaughn only made his presence known to her.
He was almost everywhere she was at this point.(as though he wasn't doing that already)
Don't blame Jane for not liking his presence though, that was no way one should behave especially to someone they barely knew.
At first no one really paid attention to the duo.
But after some weeks, the whole school started to notice that wherever Jane was, Vaughn would be there with a minimum of 10 metre radius near her.
Lunch breaks? Yeah, he is either tailing her or just casually sitting in her table. Her friends excited for whatever was to unfold, always teasing Jane.
Whenever she had to tutor the freshmen? He would be on the same floor above her, just watching her whilst doing his school works.
When she goes to her part time job? Yeah, he is busy studying in the same library she worked at. Sometimes he even did her chemistry homework for her. He started doing this when he discovered Jane did not like the subject at all.
Though she did confront him not to snoop around her homework. She preferred to do it herself she said, but he didn't stop.
His parents started to notice that he would be late from school most of the days and he simply told them he prefers studying in the library and finishing his homework there.
"You must be really bored to be doing this." She tells him, noticing that he is always there watching over her. She was uncomfortable at first, the fact that someone was monitoring her always. But she got used to it slowly as he won't do anything other than quietly doing his own work and occasionally having a break time by staring at her.
He will always be there for her, whether she like it or not. All she had to do was call him. His number on speed dial, that he set up himself. Earning a smack on his arm when he did so. Taking advantage of his height as he saved his number on her phone.
Somedays he even helped her stack the books in the library, the upper shelves which she couldn't reach unless she use the ladder. Somedays he held the ladder for her. And he did it without a word. It was weird but Jane got used to his silence.
Some days her buys her coffee or different flavours of milkshakes.
"Eat up, Darling." Is the only thing he would say. And she would glare at him. That was something new. Well, at least verbally because in his head, thats what he always calls her whenever he sees her. She appreciated his actions but that didn't decrease any of the annoyance he brought to her.
He knew she was tolerating his presence not exactly despising it but also not exactly welcoming. So he made sure that as much as he showed his actions, many others were hidden.
Like how he would follow her from a good distance, making sure she made it back to her apartment safely. It's New York, as bright as the place maybe, it could be as nasty too sometimes.
He wasn't taking the chance, he would make sure she is safe from anything and anyone. Lord save anyone who crossed Jane. Because if you cross Jane, you crossed Vaughn.
She is independent and stood for herself, not letting anyone walk over her, so she would tell people off either passive or aggressive or both.
But Vaughn? Yeah, no one is getting off the hook easily if he catches those people who got on his bad side. Not before a good warning.
One thug tried to rob Jane, one evening as she made her way back home, but luckily before he could get to her Vaughn caught the man.
A good punch knocked him out leaving the unconscious man on the alleyway, then he made sure she reached home safe without knowing what could have happened to her.
After that he went back to take the man. Waiting for him to regain his consciousness before 'confronting' him.Let's just say Vaughn had mercy on that man by leaving him alive. One broken rib, two dislocated clavicle, a dislocated jaw and a broken nose and a few bleeding later, the man's battered and bruised body was later found by pedestrians who took him to the hospital.
All is well for Vaughn, if Jane was safe and sound. It didn't matter if he bruised his knuckles or suffered a few punches from that man. Or from anyone in that matter.
Good thing, it's a Friday evening. He thinks as he gets home, not having to explain the bruises to his peers or his teachers. But he had to answer his parents. Who looked at him with wide eyes.
Do I look that bad?
Yes. Yes you do. His tie askew, his shirt wrinkled, his knuckles red, hair disheveled and a cut on his left cheekbone.
Now this is worrisome. Why? Vaughn never got in trouble at school. Sure, he wasn't a golden student but he strayed away from unnecessary issues. He was a gentleman, compared to most men, he knew when not to be gentle. Maybe that's why he stood out a lot, among the mafia men especially.
The next week, Jane breathe a sigh of relief when she realised Vaughn hasn't appeared infront of her the whole day.
That's when she noticed the tall guy, in his Jersey and black sweat pants, hair tousled because of having put on a helmet for practice, most probably.
He was sitting in the library she works at, his bags dropped to the floor as he simply sat and watched her. Leaning against the chair, legs spread, one arm on the table the other relaxed on his thigh, Those Hazel eyes of his framed behind his glasses, following everything she did.
"Let me take you on a date" he blurted out, voice gruff. He notices Jane pause a little as her out stretched hand stopped midway from placing a book to its place, as if like processing what he just said.
That's how he got rejected for the first time. She simply stared at him, eyes cold and shaking her head. She wasn't planning in dating or going out with anyone anytime soon, especially not when she had no romantic feelings for anyone.
Persistent and determined, Vaughn didn't let that rejection stop him. He would occasionally propose his offer time and time again, I.e after every week.
"There are plenty of fish in the sea, Morozov. Go bother someone else." She glared at him through her glasses, turning and walking away from him, ignoring him.
It was like a broken record, playing the same scene again and again at this point.
But Vaughn didn't want just any fish. He wanted an orca. Silly as it may seem. He wanted Jane by his side.
He just know, he couldn't see anyone else but her. She was the only worthy opponent for him, the one who silently challenges him to be better, work harder and smarter each time.
She was the only worthy person to him, someone who would put him in his place without hesitation.
In his eyes, together they would be unstoppable. Together, they would be on top of any and every food chain.
So what they were just high schoolers? He knew, that she was his ultimate conquest,no matter what challenges would come to him.
So what if she never gives him the attention he wants? So what if he has to chase her even when she pushed him harder each time? He didn't mind it at all. He prefers his examinations to be hard, to test if he is truly ready for the storm.
But maybe destiny have another plan for them.
Maybe high school, was the only time they had.
Soon, he would graduate and leave for UK to study in King's University, like all his other friends in his mafia family.
He could have force himself into her life, he could have kept being persistent.
But no he didn't. Though, that didn't mean he would stop chasing after her.
And no matter what, he wouldn't stop protecting her from any harm, from any danger. And he will do it without her knowing. Making sure she is safe and not even a hair is touched.
She was his girl after all. He wasn't going to upset her by being an idiot who didn't know boundaries. He wanted her to know he respected her.
She was his lady after all. No matter how many glares she sent towards his direction, it would never fail to make his heart skip a beat. No matter how short and how bland her answers were to his failed attempts to make a conversation with her.
She was his Darling after all. He is going to lay himself bare, show all his cards to her if needed. He is ready to do anything and everything for her. And no one would dare even look at her the wrong way, not infront of him. As long as he is alive, he is going to make sure he provides her safety and just be there at her disposal.
She was his woman after all. And however life turns out to be, he is ready to bend and break every bridge just to make sure they walk on the same path.
She was his Jane. His lady. His Darling.
P.S: She started to notice after some weeks of their first meet, that Mr. Vaughn couldn't help but have the faintest smile or the slightest smirk on his face whenever she glared at him or be rude to him. And this only causes her to either glare harder or shove past him and walk away in annoyance.
Tumblr media
I do think that he will only get more ruthless and unhinged once he starts college. Not that he isn't, but right now he is more tame. And moreover he seem to like those men who is quiet but deadly charming and gets shit done. You should never underestimate him kind of person
Thanks for reading. It was long and dreary. Longer than I imagined. And it was silly. And bad, it honestly framed better in my imagination. Again, I'm no writer and this was terrible but I needed to pen down this thoughts that was distracting me ever since I got to know about White Mask.
Do share your opinions. I just want to talk about Vaughn and your version of him.
Take care. Stay safe.

I know Maya is with Illya but in my humble opinion Rina missed a great opportunity to pair her up with Vaughn like these two would have been the hottest couple not to mention I can see Vaughn calling everyone out for how Maya was treated {spoilers for God of Fury} especially when they think she doesn't have any demons compare to Niko and Mia.
I can see Vaughn treating Maya like a princess and making sure she's always safe and if any of his enemies try to hurt her he'll make them pay.
I love my baby and she deserves better !!!

RKVERSE BRATVA HEADCANNONS
that no one really asked for, but everyone needs<3
Damien Orlov is Nikolai Sokolov's Godfather.
The one-slightly related to the mafia- kid that all the second-generation mafia kids are scared respect is Sebastian and Naomi's firstborn (I said what I said)
In the Morozov household, all arguments are solved through uno.
Ironically, the one with the best accuracy while firing a gun is the one with the least bloodlust in him, Gareth.
Annika is closest to Lidiya Morozova and the Orlov Princess.
Naomi and Sebastian are Gareth Carson's Godparents.
Adrian tries to homeschool his kids, but it backfires when neither of his kids let him work in peace as a sign of protest. He reluctantly lets them attend a private school with an army of bodyguards.
Kai Takeda becomes the next head of the Yakuza.
Vaughn is very good at playing video games to the point that he gets invited to play at events.
Maya and Gareth are the best at cheating while playing any kinds of board games and often defeat the rest (Killian loses because he's in a team with Nikolai who gets bored midway and tries to sabotage the game instead).
Damien is good at cooking while Kirill has a hidden talent for baking. Adrian finds the prospect of both of them wearing aprons funny until he is put on duty for washing the dishes. Wearing his daughter's purple, floral apron.
Jeremy becomes really good at lip-reading while he's trying to figure out what his parents are talking about over his head and as an adult, he's desperately trying to lose the habit around them.
The one who taught all the boys to drive a bike is Mio Orlov.
She also taught Sasha who nearly gives the Pakhan of the Bratva a heart attack when she figures out how to do wheelies with Rai cheering her on.
Kyle Hunter is exceptionally good at hide and seek and the kids could never find him whenever the Sokolovs were hosting sleepovers.
Annika has knocked endlessly and tirelessly on Adrian's office door till he let her in so she could demonstrate her pirouette the first time she had perfectly done it (Adrian had made Yan, Kolya and Boris give her a standing ovation).
Rai Sokolov is everyone's go-to Aunt for anything their own parents aren't letting them do. Asher and Reina won't send their sons to another continent for college? Enrolls her own son to go with them. The girls want to go to a concert? Sends an army of disguised bodyguards with them. One of the kids is drunk and needs to be picked up? She's already buckling into her car.
Adrian and Lia are Vaughn's Godparents.
Mia Sokolov starts giving plants as birthday presents and nearly makes Kirill and Damien bust a lung from laughter when she gives Adrian a cactus.
Karina Morozova has the reputation for giving the most bizarre gifts that the kids end up loving. Rents out an entire theater for Annika's birthday party. Buys all the game-machines in an arcade for Vaughn. Tells Maya they are going shopping for her birthday and flies her to Paris for it. Sees Jeremy reading bl when he's home from college one time and buys him an entire boxful of yaoi comics with a "I dog earmarked some of my favorites" note. She's extra that way and they all love it.
Damien, Adrian, Kyle and Kirill also have a group chat that Adrian has tried leaving multiple times. When Annika and Mia get boyfriends, Damien is laughing so hard at their predicament that Adrian reveals his daughter's secret relationship with the Pakhan's eldest son and then leaves the group. Again.
Lidiya Morozova becomes the first woman Pakhan after her uncle dares anyone to oppose her crowning with her getting backed up by four of the strongest Bratva families.
Vaughn and Kirill bond over making castles out of playing cards. They've spent lots of days, sitting cross-legged on the floor and stacking one card after another, using multiple decks. It's how he discovers his love for architecture.
Maya Sokolov is a natural at coding and hacking, but she finds it boring and even refuses Adrian's attempt to teach her to hone her skills.
Kyle is really good at magic tricks. Almost all the kids (minus natural cheaters, Maya and Gareth) fall for it even though some of them don't want to (Jeremy and Killian, they know it's a trick, but they can't prove it).
Naomi is not approving of Damien until she actually talks to him and realizes he's just a bakayaro.
Mia Sokolov is really good at escape rooms while Nikolai spends half the time going "That was a clue?"
Ilya Levitsky is only accepted into the family after he goes through extensive torture and lives on to say, "You can't keep me from her". He wins Kyle's respect with that.
Lia discovers that she's really good at drinking games when she's having a girl's night out with Sasha, Mio and Rai. She can throw darts with her eyes blindfolded.
The Volkovs have movie nights on Thursdays where the movies are decided based on a game of jenga. Annika swears she's not shaking the table (she is).
The Morozovs host the best sleepovers. We're talking Princess Diaries level of sleepovers with mattress surfing, vending and claw machines in the house and treasure hunts across the entire property.
The Orlovs are the best at throwing parties and love any occasion to do so. Cherry blossoms are blooming? Throw a party. His daughter got an A on her dictation? Throw a party. Someone bumped into Damien and he didn't kill them? Throw. A. Party.
The Carsons are the best at pretending they have no ties to the Bratva. You saw an army of bodyguards leaving their house? Must be the new interns Asher is hiring. Their oldest nephew has tattoos at the age of 11? But he loves drawings. Reina's twin is AWOL the whole time? She's just shy.
The Weavers are horrible at pretending they aren't related into some shady business.
The Sokolovs' house is synonymous with a common playground. Especially after Mia's kidnapping. If she's scared to go out and meet anyone else, ofcourse the rest of them are gonna come over at all times and spend time with her, it's only natural.
_______________
Don't even wanna promise a part two when I know I never commit but here's to hoping?

Vaughn Morozov
A hc of what I imagine him to be like.
Tumblr media
Vaughn Morozov, the Pakhan's heir. The Gentleman of the Bratva. The Manipulator. The Mastermind.
He isnt necessarily silent and quiet but he doesn't talk much, either. He got the manners, the charm and the etiquette of what one would call the ideal man. He has the looks, the body, the height, the hair and the money. But above all he is responsible and a smart man.
He knows when and how to use his charm especially in terms of business to either get the deal done or to deceit. He knows and plans things so effortlessly well, its almost flawless. He is also 10 steps ahead of everyone. He is analytical and calculative. A Mastermind. He rules the game, the world and the people, and he would do it so easily that they won't even realise it.
He isnt known as the gentleman for no reason. He is respectful and straightforward. Unlike most of the ruthless men in the Bratva, who springs to brutal actions almost immediately, he is calm. He resorts to let the mind games play, he likes messing up the mentality of the people, because he understands that mental pain is possibly more cruel and painful than physical pain. He resorts to quietly finishing the job because he isnt a fan of showcasing his work to the people.
He is so eloquent with his words and works. He dont need to talk much to get people to his side. He is a man of his words but mostly a man of actions. He won't hesitate to strike when nobody is looking, he won't hesitate to manipulate and make things work out on his favour.
He is a smart man, he knows what strings to pull, what steps to take. And it all comes from being a logical thinker, it comes from having parents who are one of the most important figures in the Bratva, he knows he needs to be well aware of his surroundings in case trouble strikes. It comes from seeing situations through every looking glass. It comes from being a great born-leader.
He likes to keep the side of his street clean and that's very hard to maintain especially being in the mafia. But nobody knows what happens to people who has crossed him or his loved ones. You just know they have suffered gravely. He keeps his business private. Those who needs to know will know and that's it.
He drives. Really, really well. The Mercesdes-Benz, his parents got him for his 18th birthday is one of his prized possessions. He dont ask for much from his parents, he rarely does. Mostly because they have provided him with all that he needed. And it's because he doesn't want to leech off people, he doesn't want to ask things from anyone when he knows he is equally capable of being able to do things for himself.
When he is in the UK, he rides his bike, going for joy rides with them. Though he maybe the youngest, he is undoubtedly a brilliant and mature one. Sophisticated and intimidating, Vaughn enjoys his chase. But he also let's down his guard and takes in the fresh air of youth, he knows how to enjoy his life while learning not to be vulnerable in the eyes of the people.
He can cook, clean, fend for himself. He is self-sufficient and has learned from a young age that there is no other way to success other than hard work along with smart work.
He likes to read. He like to solve puzzles, play chess, watch crime documentaries and just solve anything that needs to be solved. Maybe that's boring for most but that's how he keeps his brain to actively work and think strategically.
He is also athletic, joining the school's sports team to keep himself physically fit. He may not be the best at it but he is above average, he plays football, basketball, tennis. Exceptionally great at ice hockey (according to my headcannon.)
Because he likes to keep himself updated with the people around him and the world, he knows many things about people. If he wants he can extract informations that people have tried their best to hide too.
He might even enlist in the military, just like his mom and dad and climb ranks, but he might not stay long to accomplish that, maybe for 2 or 3 years. Because he has other responsibilities. But he will be there for the experience and knowledge.
He is academically thriving as well. Taking up computer science, physics or any of the challenging STEM subjects, because like mentioned above he likes to keep his brain to actively work to find solutions.
He is without a doubt a great son and a great friend. He won't say it out loud but he will, for sure, be their for people who needs him. Be it for advise or just be there for them. He is a great companion to his dad, helping him with works, though his father never asks him to burden himself with such works at a young age. He is a great son to his mom, driving her to places, going shopping for anything, helping his mom around the house though they have people for that.
He is the type of son, whose parents need not worry about him doing the wrong thing or being in thr wrong place. They only worry about him over working himself. He likes to be in his best behaviour, be the best in what he do.
Overall, Vaughn Morozov, is an almost perfect man, who obviously has his flaws but doesn't shy away from correcting himself and move forward to be better and stronger.
Tumblr media
He made a cameo and im intrigued by him. But honestly, as much as I want to read about him judging by how RK has disappointed some(most) of her characters in their own books, I'm afraid she might do the same to Vaughn too. So in a way, it's better to leave him as he is, but at the same time he seems to be a character full of potential, to me at least.
Anyways, thank you for reading my previous post.
Hope you enjoy this as well.

So I was thinking
Vaughn Morozov and Maya Sokolov being good friends? Close friends? Best friends even?
Maya find comfort in Vaughn, he is a younger brother to her.
A brother she never had, infact.
She and Mia are best friends, sure. But so is Vaughn.
Maya and Vaughn got closer after playing and growing up with each other. He listened to her. Advised her. Taught her academic lessons though he is a year younger than her.
Sure, he and Niko are also close friends but his friendship with Maya runs deeper compared to the one with Niko and Mia.
To him, she is a sister he never had.
She started falling Ilya? Yeah, she told Vaughn first(after much contemplation). I mean, it was hard to hide anything from him, he is like a human scanner- easily scanning and eradicating lies and acts.
She needs a someone to accompany her, for her hobbies like cafe hopping, buying new clothes, skincare and makeups- Vaughn only answers with a sigh and grab his car keys.
One night, after she went to UK for college and he is still in the US completing his high school, he gets a call from Maya. Before he could greet her or say anything he hears her sniffles and simply says "Let it out. You have me." That call lasted for a good hour with half of the time crying (her recurring guilt eating her inside out because of the "sin" She committed when she was 8, he didn't know that yet he was still there.)
True to his words. She had him. She always will.
When he visited UK for the Initiation, he had a long "sparring session" with Ilya, they spend almost 3 hours inside the boxing ring- interrogating him and his ability, his honesty, his sincerity and his loyalty towards his sister/friend, Maya.
If they were going to date, Vaughn was gonna make sure Ilya knew what he is getting into, that his wrong move will only result in a decade hunt for his missing body.
He understood why she fell of him, with all her public airings about going to marry into a rich family, he got that it was faux attitude. Deep down, she simply craved for genuine love and care, a home she could call her own, be herself. She preferred the calm gray of a simple and level headed man like Ilya than the extravagant blacks and whites of the Bratvas.
Vaughn sees right through anyone, Maya was no exception. He couldn't tell exactly what was bothering her, eating her alive but he knew there was more to her than her diva personality.
He knows that though that is her, it is just a fraction of who Maya is.
He knows that besides the micro skirts and tops that she loves to wear, she equally loves the sweatpants, jeans, sweatshirts and hoodies that she wears only when she is in the comfort of her home.
He knows she likes makeups and skincare but equally likes the Marvel Comics that she has a secret collections of beneath all those fashion magazines, or perhaps she prefers the latter more. She just don't wanna be seen as a comic nerd.
He knows that she likes this one indie band, not much known by people. And that is why he suddenly called her one evening when she was back in US for holidays, to go to that band's concert.
Who is that girl with Vaughn, she wonders, walking side by side towards her, the girl rolled her eyes at something he said whilst he simply looked at her, with amusement, and something more, Maya couldnt point out what
. Soon, she finds out that girl with Vaughn is also a fan of that band and he had somehow convinced her to come to the concert with a promise that it won't be just him and her.
She made a new friend that night, though they never got to exchange numbers.
He knows that she wants to open a small comic story, maybe a pop-up store along with it, and he is ready to help her. Though he still makes fun of her about her reaction when he caught her buying the comics like it was illegal substance and the fright she had when he walked up to her in the bookstore, trying to deny and make up an excuse.
Trusting him, she bashfully told him about wanting to open her own store and having her own brand of comics, illustrating comics from small artists who deserved recognition.
But he sees right through her, doesn't he? He doesn't make a big deal out of it and keeps it hush from everyone else like she asks him to.
When the "big reveal" about the kidnapping came to light and she felt like she was done for and abandoned, she thought she lost it all. Her sister, her brother, her mom and dad, her friends, her boyfriend- ex-boyfriend at that time. He was there for her.
She expected to see the same look of disappointment and abhorrence in his eyes but there was none of that. Rather, he still looked at her the same way he does to everyone- hazel eyes with not a swirl of emotion behind it.
He still treated her the same way he did before.
He offered her to tell him the entire thing without any lie, just honesty. And she did.
Maya felt like a whole weight lifted off her shoulders, so she asked him to help her, tell her what to do to be free. To be liked by people around her again, but this time genuinely.
When no one understood her, he listened to her.
When her tangled thoughts got the best of her, he calmed her down.
It annoyed him to the core that the people around her have decided to be a bunch of idiotic hypocrites who can't put themselves in their shoes, not understanding why she had to keep quiet for so long, not understanding that she herself was tortured by the kidnappers emotionally, not understanding that she was scared to lose what she have- her family.
But Vaughn was determined to be a good friend, a good brother to her. He visited her, though she screamed at him to go away. He encouraged her to get psychiatric help for her trauma, though she felt like she deserved all the bad things happening to her.
He let her know that he is there for her.
When she said she wanted to move somewhere they couldn't find her, he helped her do so. With a promise that she would be honest with her updates to him. Oh and along with Ilya.
To Maya, the girl who never had anything of her own. The lonely girl who despite all her acts of being high and mighty, was a scared child who took everything that was available to fill up the cracks of guilt and agony.
The girl who, despite all her efforts to make people like her the way she was, had to put up an act that she is above all of them so that if they already hate her, it won't hurt her when one day, she is left all alone.
So he let her do what she wanted.
This would be until she is in a much stable condition in life.
Vaughn could see the better future for her. He saw that despite being ostracized by her own family she is finally free. Finally becoming the Maya Sokolov without hiding any parts of herself.
And Vaughn only felt proud about the person Maya is going to become.

Before anything else, I want to make it abundantly clear that these are all speculations.
I have taken whatever I could from the books and little hints and crumbs and come up with this theory and in no way does it reflect what will really be in the book.
Before I present my theory as to who the White Mask is, I want to cover who it isn't.
1. Vaughn Morozov
For everyone who doesn't know who Vaughn is, he's Kirill and Sasha's son and was, until recently, prime suspect #1 but Rina confirmed he will not be a part of Legacy of Gods so that essentially votes him out of this immediately.
2. Remington Astor
Before I started reading this series and had only heard of the White Mask, my first immediate guess went to the most unsuspecting person, Remi. Simply because no one would expect that from him and also because chances were that my man had more demons in his closet than he was letting on (like his Dad). However, he is not getting a book and the White Mask mystery is too good to not be revealed in a book which made me rule him out (sorrows and prayers, RemiAri you will always be famous)
3. Eli King
First of all, why would a 26 y/o participate in a passtime game of tag with college students? He's preparing to inherit an entire kingdom and I can't see him chasing people around for shits and giggles or for a more bloodthirsty reason. He simply does not have the time for it. Besides, even if he's not part of the Elites, he's dedicated to the entire united front that the Kings love to showcase which he won't betray just to satisfy his bloodlust (he might have other methods for it that does not require him to join the Heathens).
Which brings me to my prime suspect,
Ava Nash
Over the course of the first three books (Legacy of; Malice, Pain and Wrath), there were a lot of things that were said about Ava or in connection to her that hinted on something far more than simply words tossed to the wind.
(I will be referencing all of them and going forward will refer to the White Mask as WM)
I think the first, most obvious conclusion most people made was that the White Masked Heathen could be a girl. While the four known Heathens are all described as tall and muscular, it was specifically mentioned that WM was leaner.

Cherry could seduce the guards but not WM.

Choice of weapon: Chains.
I always found this the most interesting because Killian, Jeremy and Nikolai rely on their strengths to wield their weapons whether it's a bat or a golf club or bare fists. It takes a considerable amount of power to swing those and inflict enough damage and pain.
But chains are easier to maneuver if you do not possess the actual strength to physically overpower your opponent. They can be swung at someone, used to disarm them or trip people or effectively cut air supply without exerting too much energy.

Yes, I hear you. All of this is nice and good and obvious but where does Ava fit in?
Remember when Ava Nash took a shot for having done illegal things but not elaborating? There is so much more to her than what meets the eye.
Time and again, Ava has displayed tendencies that depict that violence does not bother that. That she finds it fun.

God of Malice, Chapter 7, pg. 2; God of Wrath, Chapter 4, pg. 8; God of Pain, Chapter 5, pg. 3; God of Wrath, Epilogue 2, pg. 1; God of Wrath, Chapter 25, pg. 2 God of Wrath, Chapter 25, pg. 2
Most Heathens: Jeremy, Killian and Nikolai partake in the brutal initiation to satiate their bloodlust of some sort. While Ava might not necessarily have the same level of thirst for violence as them, she is definitely a rule-breaker, loves treading the line between what is allowed and what isn't and has the most inside knowledge about the Heathens, something I will discuss in more detail soon.
If it's not obvious enough still,
Rina Kent does not like going with the obvious. She loves surprises and plot twists and I love getting surprised and having my mind blown.
Ava finds the entire concept of the initiation "fun" when mostly everyone outside of the Heathens has expressed distaste.
The reason I brought up WM's weapon of choice is because it was fascinating to me how Rina didn't go the conventional way of making Ava a pianist or a violinist which are usually what music majors in fiction pursue. She's a cellist. So, she probably has experience lugging her instrument to and from places. It speaks of considerable strength that she probably has carrying an instrument that weighs roughly 5-7 pounds around the campus daily, for years.
Every LoG book so far has been a Heathen X REU pairing.
Killian Carson X Glyndon King
Annika Volkov X Creighton King
Jeremy Volkov X Cecily Knight
Mia Sokolov X Landon King
Nikolai Sokolov X Brandon King
And lastly, Ava Nash X Eli King.
MORE STUFF SOON<3
