The Rookie - Lucy Chen x Tim Bradford

Since we’re going form most recent to oldest, I must start with an Honorable mention to Katie trying to brainwash me with Chenford. This may end up being a new ship, if I watch the damn show, because right now I’m rather obsessed with these pretty idiots.

Star Wars - Rey x Kylo Ren/Ben Solo

Technically this came before some of these others (i.e. when I watched The Last Jedi), but Reylo is one of my current hyperfixations. This is a complicated, problematic at times ship, but oh how I love them, for their potential more than anything. I’m also not heartbroken by the end of TROS, but I get an not-insignificant amount of joy at them being made canon (and I’m just laughing at the novelization trying to walk that back. Nice try, neeeever gonna happen.).

The Code - Maya Dobbins x John ‘Abe’ Abraham

There are no gifs for them as a couple, because they were never even hinted at being a ship in the show, but in a demonstration of my absolute susceptibility, @vesperass-anuna talked me into shipping them in about 4 minutes and 36 seconds and I have a whole AU sketched out with her and several started and not quite finished fics.

Supergirl - Kara Danvers x Mon-El

I didn’t want to ship it, I didn’t like him at first, but he grew and changed, and seeing his devotion to Kara won me over. And I won’t lie, knowing they fell in love in real life and got married and are now having a baby makes it even sweeter to me. The key here was growth for both of them, and I think Season 3 really showed that. I will always love Karamel, even though they’ve both moved on.

From Dusk Til Dawn - Seth Gecko x Kate Fuller

Yeah, I shipped them before I ever watched the stupid show. That one is squarely on Evie. She was megashipping them and got me to read fic (total, complete AUs) and I loved it all so much, that I had to watch the show. It’s really not my type of show, and it was totally different than what I was expecting (how did I not know about the snake vampires?!?!?), but I ended up enjoying it sooooo much and shipping SethKate even harder.

and dammit, even though I’ve basically given up hope for a Season 4, they still have not ever officially said it was cancelled

Agents of SHIELD - Skye/Daisy Johnson x Grant Ward

SKYEWARD IS MY HEART AND SOUL AND THE REASON I AM HERE AND ACTIVE ON TUMBLR AND MADE SOME OF MY BEST FRIENDS. These two. THESE TWO TOTAL IDIOTS, HOW I LOVE THEM. They are opposites in a lot of ways, but also have so much in common, and their chemistry is just magnificent. If you look at a lot of my other ships, you’ll see a lot of common dynamics with this one. I will never ever ever get over them, I will be in this trash can for the rest of my life, and I will never see anyone else as their soulmates*. These two belong together and you can (and should) project that on my tombstone.

*That doesn’t mean I hate anyone else either of them have been paired with. I truly don’t. There’s a lot about the Lincoln x Daisy relationship that I quite appreciated, and I was once again sucked into a ship by Ves, so I ship the OT3 of Skye x Ward x Lincoln, but I will always ship Skyeward above anything else.

Doctor Who - The Doctor x Rose Tyler

Behold, the ship that brought me to fandom. I really never sought out additional material beyond a tv show/movie before. But after Season 2 ended so heartbreakingly (and I knew exactly how it ended before I watched), I needed more. I couldn’t just let them go. I was 29 years old and started searching for fanfic. And started reading it voraciously. That is what actually brought me to tumblr in the first place. I had exhausted Pinterest, but could see that tumblr was the source of a lot of what I loved, so I started an account and began exploring. I didn’t really understand how it worked, or even used it super often, but it taught me the framework of fandom, so when later ships crashed and burned hit me, I knew where to go and what to look for.

THE SHIP I SHIPPED BEFORE THE TERM SHIP WAS COMMONLY USED. I started watching this show back in high school, with my dad; missed a season when I didn’t have cable; got back into it when my boyfriend (now husband) bought me the DVDs for my birthday; and sucked in most of his roommates as we watched it together. It was pivotal for me and I will forever be so thrilled these two made it.

Anne of Green Gables - Anne Shirley x Gilbert Blythe

I was raised on watching the Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea miniseries’. As in, I still have the VHS tapes that I watched as a gradeschooler AND the DVDs and can recite almost the entire scripts. I. LOVE. THEM. I’ve read the whole series of books multiple times and just keep praying that my kids will read and love them someday.

And let me just tell you, revisiting them as an adult, steeped in fandom and shipping dynamics, I realized just how much I have a Type™ and how these two really were the foundation for all of that.

A different Borderlands x Dragon Age AU than the other one I did, this time based more on DA: Inquisition! Now including classes + specializations for each character!

Rhys is the Inquisitor, but still a Tevinter Mage like in my last AU, bc I really like that idea. He’s totally practiced blood magic before. Everyone is Ferelden + Orlais is giving him shit for being Tevene; he just wants to close the Breach and go home.

Fiona and Sasha are City Elves from Kirkwall, who ran away after the turmoil caused by the Mage Rebellion, and made their way to Haven to join the Inquisition. They end up joining the Inquisitor’s Inner Circle uwu

Vaughn is a traveling mercenary. TBH, I didn’t know which group to put him in, but I imagine he’d traveled to the Tevinter Imperium at some point for a job and met and befriended Rhys while there. They keep in contact via letters, and when Rhys writes to him about the Inquisition, he drops everything and runs off to join his friend.

Angel and Jack have relatively the same roles they did in the last iteration of this AU; Angel is an apostate mage, raised by her ex-Templar father, Jack, who left the Order when her magic made itself apparent. He joined the Grey Wardens to avoid being punished for leaving the Templars. Aaaand in this version, Jack is the Hero of Ferelden, who stopped the Fifth Blight. He joins the Inquisition at Angel’s behest and sort of ends up their military commander. And Rhys happens to be quite a big admirer of his...

Ahhh this is an interesting ask! Thank you! I'll do my best to honour this request :3 In this HC, the reader will be the vault hunter! Major Spoilers for the fate of a character from Borderlands 3 included, so read at your own risk! Some non canon moments have been added too. Also, oof, this got really long I'm sorry haha

Moving into new Pandora territory because of the damn Calypso twins was annoying to say the least. More than three quarters of your bandits had become mutinous bastards, and you'd almost taken care of all of them, and had almost taken back your home, bit obviously, the Calypso twins had to ruin it with their grandstanding. You barely escaped with your life that day.

You meet Vaughn a few days later, and after seeing your 'super awesome banditness!!' he sent you on a super secret scouting mission, and after your concerns about this supposed Vault Key fragment, he assures you that it's in safe hands. "Go Sun Smashers!" He cheers.

When you return, it's to Vaughn hanging upside down from a chain, and when he sees you, he yells from happiness. "Oh thank goodness you're here! I was getting lonely all by myself! Yeah...stuff happened..." He explains everything to you. You and Vaughn haven't been the best of friends. While you're sarcastic, witty and quick on your feet, Vaughn is...the complete opposite.

You meet Lilith a while later, even if you have to rescue a robot and claim a COV Base as your own temporarily. That woman is no joke, and with the way her eyes sparkle, you know she means business. She doesn't seem overly enthusiastic about having to welcome an ex bandit leader, and when you realize that this is THE Lilith of the Crimson Raiders, your bandit instincts scream at you to turn and run.

Of course, you don't. You owe Vaughn that much. She warily tells you about everything that happened, even though her tone is light, you can sense it. She's probably desperate for help, given how COV trashed their HQ. As you're heading to the Holy Broadcast Centre, you truly wonder if this woman can be fully trusted, or if she can trust you.

But as you keep completing mission after mission for the Firehawk, it becomes clearer to everyone–Vaughn at least, as he won't stop teasing you about it–that you're probably one of Lilith's most favourite Vault Hunters. Oh yeah. You weren't just a Crimson Raider now. You were a Vault Hunter. Things were looking pretty good. Until everything went to hell.

After you rescue Lilith–she said she could walk, but no way were you going to let her, spluttering as she was– and carry her aboard sanctuary, you escape by the skin of your teeth. When Tannis calls you for something, you don't notice the brilliant blush that's dusting the Firehawk's cheeks. She starts calling you killer affectionately from then on, and you can't help but smile giddily when she does.

The crew of the Sanctuary, Lilith's family, are am interesting bunch, and you feel yourself becoming a part of them and caring for them more and more as the days go by. Be it sabotaging radios for Moxxi, scanning vehicles for Ellie, salvaging parts for Claptrap, killing people for Zero and animals for Hammerlock or finding logs and drops for Tannis, you enjoyed every last one of them.

*SPOILER*

Maya and Ava had breezed easily into your life, though Maya's death had been a big blow to the Raiders. You liked Maya, so it hurt even more that you were powerless to stop it. Ava had been assigned to you, so you were the one who held her back when Maya died. When everyone gathered on the deck, Lilith's back was turned away from the group. No one seemed to know what to say, their grief towering. So you thought to say a few words.

"I'm not good at speeches but...Maya was...strong, from what little I knew of her. Everyone here was very close to her, and I'm sure that they miss her more than I ever could. But I think if Maya were here, she'd want us to take the fight to them, to win for the Crimson Raiders, and to come out on top. So if anything...we don't just owe this to the world anymore. The Calypso Twins have to be stopped. We owe that to Maya."

During the speech, Lilith had turned to you, and her eyes were wide, brimming with emotion. You'd awkwardly cut yourself off, suddenly feeling like a child, and Tannis had taken over, but Ava had stormed off, bitterly spouting things about how you were there and should've taken action, and blamed both you and Lilith for her mentor's death. After everyone had left, you went to check on Ava, but the girl didn't let you in, so you went back to Lilith, the latter thanking you for checking up on the girl. "Did you really mean what you said?" She'd whispered, and you'd nodded. "Every word."

*SPOILER END*

It's slow, but after that incident, you can see the difference in behaviour when it comes to how Lilith used to interact with you before, and how she does now. Lingering glances, shy smiles–you didn't know Lilith could be shy!– and, something which took you by surprise the first time, hugs and hand holding. It's something you looked forward to everytime you went on a mission. A brief but small hand squeeze, and a hug that lingered too long when you returned. It was so obvious to everyone that even Tannis and Claptrap had begun to take notice.

After one particularly grueling mission involving that ass Killavolt, you were in Tannis' lab, the woman berating you for not wearing shock resistant shields as she dressed your bruises. "Honestly! It's like you want to be hurt!" She huffs, and five minutes later, she's told you to rest for a while until Rhys contacts your team. You'd begun to protest, shirtless as you were, when the door opened, and Lilith walked in, frowning. "Hey Tannis, could you help me with–"

Her eyes had widened, and you remember feeling a lot naked than you were. It would've been funny, had your eyes not been as wide as hers too. You willed your hands to move, but they stayed as still as led. Tannis meanwhile, was completely oblivious, and continued to poke your abs with her fingers, ignoring Lilith. "Just a moment Lilith. I have a very stubborn patient I need to examine."

It had seemed the words hadn't registered, because Lilith had begun walking towards you, and out of nowhere, she poked your abs. You yelped, wincing, a red blush colouring your face. "Lilith! Honestly! Stop poking my patients like that!" Tannis huffed. Lilith, startled out of her revere, had nodded and mumbled a "Sorry Tannis. Take care of yourself, Vault Hunter." Vault Hunter. Not Killer. Why did it feel you'd screwed something up? It was probably nothing, right?

So...turns out, it wasn't. Lilith had become increasingly distant. The hugs had stopped, and so had the hand holding. There was some tension in the air, though you didn't know why. Moxxi had assured you, telling you that this is normally how Lilith dealt with feelings, and while it was a comforting thought that your feelings were reciprocated, it still didn't help that Lilith was treating you like this.

After a particularly deadly mission involving the COV, where Tyreen herself had made an appearance. You'd been hurt really bad, but you'd saved the life of innocent people. An explosion had knocked you back, and you'd tried getting up, but had found yourself crushed beneath Troy's boot heel. "Careful Troy. That's my super fan you know! We don't wanna beat her up too bad!"

She'd echo cast your broken and beaten form across the galaxies. "What is up everyone! We've got a special video today. It's my very own superfan, the second biggest heretic in the universe! It's the Firehawk's Dog! Do you have anything to say, Vault Hunter?"

You'd said nothing, glaring at the camera instead. Troy had chosen to plunge a knife inside you, and you'd cried out in pain. "That's what I'm looking for! My my Lilith! You've been working my super fan to the bone! That's supposed to be my job! Well! There's no harm in sharing, right? Sharing is caring after all!" She winks, and smacks the camera with a cackle, and Troy decides, for added dramatics, to twist the knife in more. You scream, and their laughter is the last thing you hear, before you black out.

When you wake up, you're on Sanctuary, or, more accurately, in Tannis' lab. She tells you that the Calypso's had left you for dead in the desert, and that Ellie and Vaughn had helped bring you back. Everyone had been worried sick. It was a miracle you were alive. "Is everyone okay?" You'd croaked out, and Tannis had nodded. "Are you?" She'd asked, and honestly, you were a little sore, but you were fine.

"Lilith was beside herself you know." Moxxi says, and you realize with a start that she's been there the whole time. "After Roland and Maya...well...you can see why she has trouble getting close to people, trouble admitting she has feelings."

You understand what Moxxi means. At first, Lilith's apprehension was understandable. You were a former bandit leader, and she is the leader of the Crimson Raiders. Both of you should be hating the other, yet you'd grown impossibly close. Now, it seemed Lilith was fighting a war with herself, debating whether or not what she felt for you should be pursued.

"I need to see Lilith." You mumble, immediately knowing what you had to do, and ignoring Tannis' protest, you walked to her room. She wasn't there. She wasn't at the bridge either. Giving up, you walked back to your room, where you found her. She was on your bed, holding a picture the two of you had taken on Pandora. She'd looked up, when she saw you walk in, and you were surprised to see tears in her eyes.

For a second, no one moved. Then, slowly, you walked to Lilith, stumbling over to her, and she'd shit to her feet when you finally crossed the distance between the two of you.

Hugging Lilith for the first time in weeks felt amazing. You finally felt complete, as if two halves of a whole were reunited. "Are you okay?" You mumbled, and Lilith spluttered out a laugh. "You got stabbed, crushed under a boot and nearly bled to death, and you're asking me if I'm okay?"

"Yes." You said simply, smiling when you felt Lilith sag against you. "I will be." She whispered, and she was right. Both of you had already been through a lot. Both of you were hurting, but when she broke the hug, leaned in, a kissed you, again and again and again, you knew, that neither of you were okay, but both of you would be. In time.

(was gonna do tales rhys since i don’t count him and bl3 rhys as the same person, but i already did him a while ago so i figured it’d be more boring to do it again) *rubs hands together* oh boy do i got some opinions

Fav thing about them: he’s cute, his dialogue is funny, his plotline with jack was interesting, his design is *chef hand kiss* (LOVIN’ those bright colors + distinct shapes/features), just overall extrEMELY good. oh also his sass.

Least fav thing: borderlands 3 rhys is not the same character as tales rhys. i was willing to forgive the mustache (which is honestly in character imo) and the horrible outfit design (which is completely OUT of character but moving on), until they had him voiced by someone that wasn’t troy baker. i was willing to forgive them for not addressing the vault of the traveler (bc honestly how do u address that in a way that wouldn’t be disappointing), until they seemingly disregarded everything that happened in tales and pre-sequel. i was willing to forgive the cringey ooc dialogue and chalk it up to the fact that gearbox just can’t hold up to telltale in terms of humor/writing, until they completely fucked up all my other faves for no reason. i honestly wanted to like bl3 but the more i thought about it the more it pissed me off, so i think i’m just gonna ignore it + it’s characterization of my faves for the most part. also like what the fuck is up with him looking like 50 in bl3? lilith, maya, and all the other girls still look exactly the same as they did in previous games, why the hell are they not allowed to age but rhys ages so much that he doesn’t even feel like the same character? why does gearbox just hate twinks so much??

Unpopular opinion: i don’t really like when people..i guess “woobify” him too much? like for sure he can’t fight, he’s literally just an office worker. he constantly forgets that he has a metal frickin arm and instead tries to punch with his normal hand and ends up hurting himself. but he’s not innocent, especially if he started out working at hyperion with handsome jack as a role model. he may not have experience with actual real life combat, but he has/had no problem hurting others (albeit indirectly) to get ahead (see: vaughn’s “we had to do a lot of awful stuff to get you to this point...every night it haunts my dreams” line). he’s no handsome jack sure, but he’s also not far above most other borderlands characters either in terms of morals, ruthlessness, or dickishness. imo.

Yeah, so I have this expansive story in my head that I need to write down at some point, that Rhys transitioned fairly young (given that it seems likely such a thing would be both accepted and easy to accomplish in the broader Borderlands universe) so it was before his Siren powers manifested, and then he and everyone who knew about his markings just assumed he never would get them. So he just sort of...forgets about them.

Then when he and Fiona step into the vault, being close to that source of power, it wakes up Rhys’ powers in a big way. They’re in the Vault of the Traveller, which we know can transport all over the place, but what they didn’t realise is that the “treasure,” so to speak, will transport you anywhere in time and space, and, reacting to Rhys’ powers and his longing for Jack and to fix everything that went wrong, it transports them all back to a time during the very beginning of the Pre-Sequel.

So now Rhys has a chance to stop Jack before he goes down the path of destruction, to guide him away from those who would betray him, and help him build the Pandora he wanted to.

But of course, this Jack doesn’t know and wouldn’t trust him, so the team starts working behind the scene, pulling strings. It’s basically everyone involved in the final battle with the traveller goes with, so in my playthrough it’s Rhys, Fiona, Sasha, Vaughn, Gortys, LB, Zer0, Athena, and Jayne, and they all are back x amount of years ago (the actual timeline is so fuzzy to me, and doesn’t make a lot of sense even when I research it, so I’m saying about 7 to 9 years before the setting of TFtBL), but with all the knowledge and experience of what’s transpired.

With everyone’s help, Rhys still takes control of Atlas, even though he’s still working at Hyperion, too. Handsome Jack is losing his fucking mind, because who is this new CEO of Atlas that no one’s fucking heard of or knows their name, but is turning the sinking ship around (and, hilariously, Rhys is stealing some of the innovative tech Jack would have come up with years down the line, so these ideas are already simmering in Jack, and he’s like “HOW THE FUCK DID THIS PERSON FIND OUT, IT IS IN MY HEAD?!”) .

And somewhere along the line, Jack and Rhys happen upon each other. I’m thinking Jack wants someone good who he can trust to try and figure out if Atlas is hacking them and just hauls all his best people from across the station. Not, necessarily, the ones climbing the Hyperion ladder of backstabbing, but the ones who are actually good, and drags them all in with this test, like you’ve got 10 minutes to do solve this or you’re going out the airlock.

Everyone’s panicking and Rhys is just cool as a cucumber and also doesn’t seem particularly interested in doing what Jack’s asking of him, which is both fascinating and infuriating to Jack, who singles him out and puts a gun to his head and is like, hey jackass, 10 minutes, you better get started, and Rhys just arches his brow and gives him this bored look, and solves it in like, a minute.

Anyway, Rhys gets promoted to be the head of his department and Jack puts him on the task of figuring out who the CEO of Atlas is, and throughout this they become close, and Rhys is trying to guide him along subtly.

And meanwhile, Angel isn’t yet locked up yet, but Jack has isolated her from everyone “for her own protection,�� so he’s definitely going down that road. Rhys’ powers, having been activated by the Vault of the Traveller, give him a similar ability, to travel instantaneously across great distance and become invisible, along with something no doubt related to his cybernetics, but I don’t have that fleshed out yet. So Rhys goes to visit her and explain, and the two of them start figuring out their Siren abilities together while this is all going on.

Basically Gortys is with Rhys and Vaughn, but everyone else is on Pandora, hunting vaults, because it took a lot of convincing, but Rhys finally managed to get through to them that if they can get to Jack before he goes all darkside, if Rhys can have a positive influence on him, then Hyperion actually *can* make Pandora a better place.

So it’s super long and a slow burn with Jack and Rhys, because Jack is like super thirsty for Rhys, but Rhys is already really torn about the fact that he is, technically, betraying Jack in a BIG way and to start a relationship with him would be another huge betrayal, but eventually it gets to a point in their plans with Atlas and the vaults that Rhys is finally ready to tell Jack his plan, and is really ready for Jack to fucking murder him violently.

And yeah, Jack’s gun is out of its holster before Rhys is ten seconds into his explanation, and Rhys is watching and waiting so he can use his powers to escape if he needs to, and when Rhys brings up Angel, Jack gets twitchy. But then Jack actually puts the gun down, just backs him up to the wall with his hand around his throat, and Rhys puts his cybernetic hand against his wrist as a reminder like “hey, I could fight you off, but I’m not.” But also Jack isn’t killing him.

When Rhys is done, he keeps waiting for the other hammer to fall, but Jack’s like “anything else????” And Rhys is cautiously optimistic and like “yeah, one more thing” and then he strips off his shirt, and Jack’s like “?? I mean, fucking *finally* but..” And Rhys takes his hand and brings them to his tattoos and they flare to life under Jack’s hand, and his whole face lights up with wonder.

Of course there’s a lot of hot sexy times, and Rhys is like, okay, so now I give you Atlas and everything we’ve done under that, and you have access to all that tech and those funds and you can do what you’ve wanted. And Jack is like “we can do all those things” and they they run Hyperion together, and everyone on Pandora has made connections with others, like Maya and Gaige and Sal and Axton, and Jack brings in his team of Nisha, Tim, Aurelia, and Wilhelm, and they all go about hunting down these vaults to finally tame Pandora and get rid of the actual bandits and improve the quality of life, with Fiona and Sasha guiding them to what Pandorans actually need.

And meanwhile Lilith and Roland and Moxxi all sitting over here like “what the fuck is happening????”

i have so many theories!!! theyre all screaming at me!!! i must write out them all!!!!!

so here’s one that’s been knocking around my head since finals week began:

the Writing 3 Playlist on Spotify

I think this bad boy is a hint at the game’s timeline

maybe not 100% explanatory, but I think we can guess certain parts of the game through this

and i just wanna tell y’all now, almost all of this is speculation, as honestly im 90% sure the playlist was created bc it had borderlands-y songs in it (although the last few have me scratching my head)

lemme explain why im writing this, though I’m very thirsty for lore

tl;dr: game goes like this: lilith powers stolen. go to promethea, go to jungle, find brick mordy and tina, get into a fight, lose fight, go find other VHs, get into another fight, Krieg shows up to save Maya, maya die. (oh no she ded), the twins have their we are GODS moment, the VHs get summoned to the Eridian homeworld, there’s a huge ass final battle, someone attempts to create an end-of-the-world scenario

so the playlist itself was created to help one of the authors of the game get into their borderlands jam

it starts with a Cage the Elephant song, “Trouble”, the band of which we all know wrote the first song used in BL1. Not really much else to say here, but we do know the opening cutscene of the game involves our current team of Vault Hunters being attacked by the Children of the Vault. this is, of course, not indicative of any songs used in bl3, but we can assume it captures the general feeling of the game.

Second song: “Fire” by Barns Courtney (holy shit I love this guy so fucking much!! if you’ve never listened to his music, PLEASE do so! I really recommend “Rather Die”- I am in the process of making a bl3 animatic to it actually lmao).

So anyway, I’m just sayin’, the lyrics of this song...

“Oh, a thousand faces staring at me Thousand times I've fallen Thousand voices dead at my feet Now I'm gone... And my mother told me son let it be Sold my soul to the calling Sold my soul to a sweet melody Now I'm gone... Oh gimme that fire ...”

Honestly, I would not be surprised if this song was about Lilith’s loss of her powers. I mean, she used to call herself the Firehawk because she burned the shit outta bandits. c’monnn.

The man, the myth, the legend himself even says that "[The song is] quite defiant as well, like this cannot be how it ends, it cannot be my situation."

“Majesty” by Apashe and Wasiu

holy fuck i love this song so much. and its so very obviously about the Calypso Twins- at the very least its Tyreen.

I mean come on if its not when we meet the twins for the first time after they steal lily’s powers, then its definitely when they do something absolutely badass and really show us why they’re revered as gods. Possibly related to the Holy Broadcasting Center?

“The Way I Do” by Bishopp Briggs

this one honestly had got me stumped as to its purpose, i lowkey kinda think its getting Sanctuary 3 up and running (and possibly meeting Maya for the first time- still not sure about that). I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a whole thing for Scooter and this song fits pretty well. I imagine we also meet Vaughn and the Children at some point, so maybe here?

“Greeting the Menace” by Zack Hemsey

yeah i uhhhh dunno. This sounds like a song about a dude getting tortured which scares me a bit lmao.

I thought maybe this song and the next 2 could be VH-based songs, as the next 2 have no lyrics whatsoever and the third is called “Best Friends”, but who knows... If this is the case I could make the argument this is about Zane or Moze, leaning towards Zane cuz he’s pretty covered up, plus I think “Best Friends” would be more Moze’s style lmao

I could also see this being a song about Troy... could explain all the ‘body mods’ and the missing arm.

“ProtoVision” by Kavinsky

If we’re going with the idea that these next few songs are about the Vault Hunters, then I imagine this would be Fl4k’s. It’s got that synth and some guitar which I think fits perfectly with his robo-hobo aesthetic lol

Other than that, I truly have no idea what part of the story this song could reference since there aren’t any lyrics. Maybe Promethea’s city? I could kinda see it, it sounds pretty high-tech

Similarly, “diatribe.” by Oliver Michael

the beginning gives me a whole meditation vibe which I kinda associate with Amara and her phasecast skill which “sends out an astral projection” of herself.

Then again, this could be the outskirts of the Promethean city... I could see myself wandering around the huge ass foliage and discovering an abandoned research base to this song idk

“Best Friends” by grandson

aaahh i love grandson. I think this could be a Moze-based song. I just get that vibe from her leather jacket... anyway

I also could totally see this as discovering Brick, Mordecai, and Tina in the research base (if that truly is where they are). Cause we saw them in the trailer hanging out there.

tbh the lyrics themselves kinda remind me of pre-Tales Rhys and Fiona and all their friends

I could see there being a fight scene with Brick Tina and Mordy as AIs helping out here, maybe exploring the abandoned research base?

“I’m a Wanted Man” by Royal Deluxe

I want to believe these next few songs are us recruiting the rest of the Vault Hunters not seen yet

I kinda associate this one with Axton since his whole History with DAHL, but who knows! It could be Gaige, too. or Maya since she looks like she’s being incredibly gay criminal on the Maliwan Monastery planet. Maybe both Axton and Gaige? I would love that

“The Devil You Know” by X Ambassadors

Could also be Axton! I lowkey think its Salvador or Timothy Lawrence. The reason I think its Timothy is cuz the whole song gives me huge Handsome Jack vibes, but it could also be Sal cuz I totally imagine him becoming a bounty hunter to fund his gun addiction lmao

“00000 Million” by Ella Vos

this one also gives off Maya vibes imo. I wouldn’t be surprised if this one is about her and the introduction of Little Blue. I could also see Athena and Janey here, just living their lives out in a cottage somewhere. awww

“Jungle” by Tash Sultana

Ahh a love song [pukes] Hopefully this one is about Athena and Janey, cuz there is a depressing lack of both of them in all the trailers we’ve seen! It sounds lowkey sad, though. I hope nothing happened to them D:

“Don’t Wait Up” by Dustbowl Revival

this one gives me very big Fiona and Sasha vibes.

Of course, there’s also the fact that the song is about a dad, and we still don’t know who the heck “the Father” is on all those Calypsos posters. We also dunno who in the heck “Mother” is, either. Sounds like Father left the cult, though, oof, and Mother stuck around. Wonder what that’s all about, maybe he felt like the twins were working fast/efficient enough and left to do things himself? Very lost on this idea tbh. the song seems very out of place, but it has to connect to something, yknow?

“Dies Irae” by Apashe and Black Prez

For those of you who don’t speak fluent Latin (the fuck guys?? lmao jk), the title means "Day of Wrath". Nice, nice, nice.

the lyrics, you might be asking:

“'Cause I'ma beast. Where you at? I've been unleashed. Whatchu doin'? Sink my teeth. Y'all can't fathom I'ma beast”

me: [vibrating in my seat] monster twins monster twins monster twins monster twins

at the very least this is definitely a fight scene here. Probably with the twins again (hopefully). Maybe they found some way to imbue the cultists with fucked up powers and are sending them against the VHs as giant demon things and as we fight through the temple (apparently with some Guardians) we realize the final one is Troy and/or Tyreen?

I like to imagine this is where Maya gets her powers stolen, if only because the next few songs... I think she’s around because she’s now the only person with Siren powers on the side of the Crimson Raiders, so they might need her help with the Vault in some way

“RAMPAGE” by GRAVEDGR

y’all wonder why I seemingly forgot about Krieg in the above songs? Well, this is why.

The only lyric for this entire song is “Bitch, I'm on a rampage- mask on my damn face”

I mean come on, Krieg with his psycho mask on, the fact his action skill is literally called “Buzz Axe Rampage”, the fact he loves Maya as shown in his introductory trailer... it’d be so perfect. And I bet badass psycho Krieg would be the only thing able to beat back whatever’s attacking at the moment. I’m just imagining him smashing down a wall and going apeshit

“Black Out Days” by Phantograms

Another song I think is about Krieg and Maya. I don’t think Maya does too hot in this game, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if she gets the Roland treatment if you know what I’m saying. I wonder if this causes Krieg to devolve back into insanity cause the whole song seems to focus around that. I hope not D:

To be honest I could also see it being that Maya gets her powers stolen and thoughtlock-ed by the twins to fight on their side (as she’s seen fighting with the big demon elemental things), and maybe we have to kill her or hurt her in some way to get her to stop attacking us. God I hope not.

Let’s hope this is someway about the twins and definitely not about our favorite Siren and/or Psycho

“The Finishing” by Stavroz

oof i think somebody dies... If its not Maya, my best guess is Krieg or Lilith. Maybe Mordecai or Brick? Oh I hope not, I love both of them way too much for it to be healthy. But, hey, at least Tina learned some coping mechanisms :(

“Intro” and “Apocalypse Please” by Muse

merged these into 1 because Intro is like 15 seconds long and is literally the introduction to Apocalypse Please.

Definitely reaching the end of the game here...

I think the twins (or whoever may have become the main villain- perhaps the Eridians?) have claimed victory/gotten the ultimate power in one way or another, and/or this is the Crimson Raiders getting themselves ready for a final stand-off with the big bad evil guy.

I would really love if there’s a scene right at the end of this where the Twins have their huge “BOW TO ME” moment and then they just get COMPLETELY obliterated by a new villain. Just absolutely decimated.

New villain, like if they opened a Vault and whatever was being imprisoned there just wipes the floor with them (something like the Destroyer, if not the Destroyer itself), or fuck shit maybe even Tannis? or the Eridians looking for help in the war. or the Eridians bringing war. Who knows!

Again, could just be the Twins having gotten their hands on the end-game material, like realizing they can turn troy into big demon fuck (no i am not letting this one go) and we are kinda fucked now.

“Free Animal” by Foreign Air

I... have no idea lol

maybe Krieg getting rescued, maybe (one of?) the twins getting recruited by the Raiders for the final fight? It could fit into the ‘Beast’ imagery. Fuck, maybe even rescuing/finding Typhon or something? Idk, im kinda in the party that Typhon is going to be coming back some way or another lol, I’d love to meet the guy

“Dreams” by ZHU and Nero

This definitely sounds like a new BBEG has just been introduced or the big bads just entered the final phase of their plan, like the Crimson Raiders just learned about something life-changing and this is their “oh shit” moment

i wanna believe that the Eridians or another alien race (like the Seraphs!) are going to come in at the ‘end’ of the game and the Watcher is gonna be like “bitch did you really think I thought these dumbass ECHOnet streamers were the epitome of War??” I imagine we’d be on the side of the Eridians here, since y’know, the Watcher came to us for help.

Of course, the twins could still be the BBEG and have gotten their hands on that universe-destroying power that was described on the website (”to recover a map to ancient Vaults and prevent a universe-destroying power from falling into the wrong hands”) so maybe the Eridians called us in in order to meet and get help against the COV?

“Beyond the Fray” by Cassandra Violet

personally i think this one is about the Eridian homeworld

“I'll mark the day When we can meet beyond the fray Don't lose the will to see your home You find the way so we can meet beyond the fray I'll fight to see that you get home Consider this small clue Look beyond your point of view Make a space for honesty hide“

Wouldn’t even be surprised if someone made a sacrifice so we could get there... I imagine its hidden somewhere in the alternate dimension or wherever the Vaults lead to so it couldn’t be found, so maybe Lilith’s got her powers back at this point and she sacrifices herself to send us there?

idk...

“Outside the Realm” by Big Giant Circles

ah yes, another reason I think the end of the game involves the Eridian homeworld in some way. Have you heard this?? huge “we just stumbled upon a long-lost-alien-planet” vibe. I love it. Maybe even just a shot of Sanctuary III slowly gliding over the giant planet, having just exited phasewalk. God yes

“Battle Royale” by Apashe

another reason i think the final fight is some giant battlefield/wave fight instead of just against 1 or 2 enemies. not to mention the fact that the VH skills we’ve seen so far are crowd control based instead of raid boss focused.

Its likely the VHs against the Cult of the Vault, but if we defeat the Twins halfway through the game, then the Cult will dissolve on its own. Either way, I really really really really really want a huge fight against an army. I don’t care if its against the Children of the Vault, the Eridians/some Guardians, or if its against the Seraphs or a new set of aliens we’re gonna get (maybe whatever the Destroyer was/is?). idk idc i just want a huge battle. I imagine we’re on the Eridians’ side, as I said above, but who knows, maybe the Watcher went rogue.

oh and also, the next song:

“Doomsday” by NERO

oh hey, I recognize this song, it’s giving me major BL2 flashbacks lmao

Also the last song in the playlist, which is giving me the big fear (tm)

I imagine that we wouldn’t have been brought to the Eridian homeworld if it wasn’t kind of a huge deal, and what’s more of a huge deal than the end of the universe?!

could be the reason the Eridians are coming out of hiding after all this time. Either to stop our dumb human asses from opening the Vaults, or to get help against these alien fucks because our dumb human asses keep destroying their first line of defense- the Vault Monsters.

If the twins actually DO remain the main villains throughout the whole game, then I imagine this is them prepping to destroy the universe
